Convenient location but dated room
The hotel was in a convenient location and was reasonably priced. I liked that it had a small kitchen and washer and dryer for our 5 day stay in Sydney. The room that we had though was very dated and worn down. The bathroom tile was broken and stained and the shower was unable to be properly cleaned due to age. The carpet in the room was very old, worn out and fraying. The pillows were very thin and beds were very hard. The info said room renovated in 2021 but this did not seem accurate. The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful.
I was happy with everything except the twin beds. It was like sleeping on a rock.
We stayed 3 nights and never got any sleep- the outside traffic was the loudest I have ever heard.
Had a lovely stay. Susan the lady at the front counter was exceptional. Right in the middle of the hustle and bustle. Would stay again
Rooms need to be refurbished. Old & worn Charged a hold on my credit card 5 days before I arrived
Not for the disabled.
YEHS Sussex st. NOT recommended if one has a disability. Attempted twice to contact management during this stay, about changing a future booking, with 4 weeks notice, (12 hours outside their policy)to their partner hotel YEHS QVB, as it is more accessible, no reply!!! Advertised as 5 mins from Town Hall, NO mention Druit st is very steep, not suitable for the disabled. I wouldn't have booked here if I knew this. Extremely disappointing in YEHS /Hotels in supposedly a time of equality & anti-discrimination.
Great location
Lovely nice little room. It's central to everything. The automatic toilet is great
Great hotel. Will be first choice next visit down under.
The worse hotel could not stay in it nothing like the photos or description
Rooms were clean and staff friendly, excellent location to walk most places under a mile to walk
Friendly staff nice room. Loved the toilet
It is in walkable distance to downtown attractions and restaurants. Room was comfortable and adequate.
The communication from the staff was very poor. Did not do what they said they were going to do on more than one occasion
One. The staff was not very helpful or accommodating. Too. The room was dingy and tired needing a basic renovation in the last 50 years. Three. Cleaning staff said we couldn’t have a face cloth even though it was right there Four. Charging stations for the phones through electricity didn’t work. Five. Overpriced compared to the current going rate Six. The neighbourhood was feeling like it was safe and convenient to get to the Harbour. 7 overall I would look for another place to stay as for the price. It should’ve been more luxurious and it was like an old tired Motel.
The neighbors were cooking and smelling extremely spicy …
Property is old. Needs updated. The closet/ room outside our room had a fishy smells which caused the hall way to smell. Hot tub ice cold as well as pool. Asked for wake up call. None received.
Avoid. This is a run-down hotel. My wife and I booked a one bedroom with a kitchen. The appliances were old and were barely working (one kitchen burner never did and we had to call to fix the washing machine). The eating area of the kitchen had carpet which was not cleaned in the few days of our stay. We were careful not to let food on the floor, but there is not much you can do by hand. Some other reviews report presence of cockroaches in this hotel. To be honest, we did not see any, but the place is what it is... In the bathroom, the silicon between the floor and the furniture was old and dirty, which is a sign of neglect. Finally, all the vents of the AC were very dirty and in desperate need of some deep cleaning. The only good things of this hotel are the staff (reasonably friendly) and the location (walkable distance to main points of interest).
Staff are friendly and obliging. Location close to amenities. Room quite small.
Really enjoyed our Sydney stay for the weekend for a couple. The staff were great and very helpful , the room price was reasonable for the area and the central location was spot on. Highly recommend
Perfect Location
Great room, great location, would definitely stay here again
The bathroom is dirty when we checked in. One of the single bed gave a cranky sound when sleeping on it.
Downtown stay
Downtown stay. Spacious, with kitchen. Dated but good value for family
Lovely staff, great location, good sized room with all your needs
My bathroom flooded half the room and not offered another room but many towels. Dangerous and no one to call after 10pm. No refund offered. Awful car park for anything but a very small car
The only saving grace of this place was very nice staff that tried to do their best to compensate for major shortcomings of this property. We were initially were given a room that came directly from the 70's, including paint job and appliances. The room smelled horribly as well due to excessive cleaning agent use, propbably to cover the smell of smoke and old furniture. We asked for another room and had to settle for a room in a lower category; at least that one had an updated bathroom (but not kitchen) and did not stink. The immediate area outside was dirty but safe. Would not recommend this property unless you can get it dirt cheap (which we did not)
The hotel is good, at a convenient location near the Town Hall. The room is big with a small kitchen and microwave. The staff are friendly.
Great location, easy walking distance to Darling Harbour and transport links and fantastic friendly staff. The hotel was clean, but very tired and in need of some refreshing, tiles damaged and grout falling out/missing, poor repairs, holes in walls, chips and paint missing everywhere etc. Really needs some quality upgrading/refreshing.
The location of the hotel was convenient for our stay. The car park is not well suited for large cars. The staff we very friendly & helpful. Our room was ok, the shower head did leak & it was not very big, I would not like to get into the shower if I was pregnant!!! But it was clean, the A/C worked which was great considering the humid weather we experienced.
Needs TLC
Great location but needs TLC. Our room had lots of scuffs on the walls the design of the family room is a little odd being the double is in the room which is closed off. Kids should be in there so they don’t have access to doors etc. Spa wasn’t working whole time of our stay with missing tiles around the cold water pool. Hot tub was good temp Overall a good stay but let down by outdated or damaged areas
Frustrated
Room clean. Hotel is great but the smart toilets did not work properly. It only flushed after sitting and standing. There were no instructions and given the personal nature I did not want to ask. Leave instructions
Great location, great value
The room was just what I expected in terms of size and features, with efficient air conditioning. However, it was very noisy, being located next to some sort of e just system which was running all day. The reception staff were very helpful, letting me check in early and have a later check out. The housekeeping was very efficient.
No Room service
There was not Room service for a 3 nights stay in a hotel is hardly acceptable. No fresh towels, no refill for the coffee station. Bathroom not cleaned and floors not vacuumed. Poor service for a 3 nights stay
Nice hotel.
Excellent location, walking distance to the major sites. Tram is a walking distance to the hotel. Very closed to many restaurants. I recommend this hotel
Close and walkable to all attractions
Great area
Pleasant location. Good room.
Business Trip
The hotel itself is good and the staff friendly. However there are sections that require updating. The tiles in my bathroom were falling off the wall and there was mould in the shower. The exhaust fan also needs to be cleaned on a regular basis to avoid build up of dust in the vent.
This is marketed as a double business room. It's a shoe box of 16m2, dusty, dirty and very noisy by its location. Absolutely overpriced. Poor by the hotel as well as Expedia for allowing this. When I complained about dirty toilet floor sink, nothing was done about it. Very poor experience for a regular business traveler!
Well located being close to Darling Harbour and public Transport. Staff were well trained and extremely helpful, The rooms were clean and well maintained.
Great Location
Property was situated within easy walking distance of Darling Harbour, Sydney Opera House, Circular Quay and the Sydney Eye.
Spacious one bedroom suite with kitchen in central city position unfortunately street noise woke us up and we were on the tenth floor
Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a weekend away. Very affordable and friendly staff.
Perfect Location
We like the staffs, they are very friendly and professional. Location is very convenient for us to see the city. The property is old.
very noise room because outside traffic
Looked pretty worn including halls and the room. My room’s kitchen was not stocked well: no drinking glasses, only one full sized mug. No towels at all in the room. I had to go down and ask for some, but no wash cloth even though I asked for one. I was given them, but no apology for not having them in the room, no dish towels for the kitchen. Bed was very, very hard.
for the money the room was fine, the room was a bit small and easy to public transport
We had a comfortable stay. The room was a bit small but clean and tidy. The one problem we had was that water leaked from under the shower door and the bath mat was soaked when stepping out of the shower. Also had quite a bit of water on the floor which was a hazard. Other than that we were quite happy with the room. Loved the high tech toilet !!!
Staff were helpful and pleasant. Room was small and bathroom was tiny.
Awesome location
Convenient to Darling Harbour/ICC. Spacious, friendly staff
We enjoyed our stay Here are the pros: warm, helpful and friendly staff; lobby looks nice and liked the free coffee/tea, great location in walking distance to many attractions and restaurants, etc; decent price; nice size room; luggage hold for early guests; wash machine in room; in room safe; complimentary “gifts” for special occasions (wine, chocolates, soda) was a very unique and thoughtful gesture; reaching out beforehand for special requests; kitchen with microwave and cook top and fridge plus many kitchen items. Cons: bathroom shower was a little tight for taller people, bathroom is dated and needs freshening up as well as some of the kitchen items. From what I understand they will be renovating the rooms soon and I think those cons will easily be fixed. All in all we enjoyed our stay.
Wonderful location. Literally a 5 minute walk to Darling Harbour, 10 minutes to Sea Life Sydney and Chinatown. Couple of 24hr convenience stores nearby. Property still needs a little bit of renovations but staff was very pleasant
Very easy access to the city! Nice personnel snd can’t complain.
Everything was fantastic. Staff were professional, helpful and super friendly. The location was sensational, so close to everything. This included: Restaurants, Bars, Theaters, Darling Harbour, Metro to Airport, Tram, Buses, China Town and Seafood Market. For a property like this the price was excellent, highly recommend.
Was handy spot close to everything.
Decent hotel, good price
Spa only worked 1 day out of the 3 we were there. Pool was very cold on the days the Spa wasn't working. Only 1 elevator was working and sign said to allow up to 10 minutes extra - this really isn't an acceptable wait time just to leave the building or get to your room. No offer or direction to take stairs. Great Location. Short walking distance to Darling Harbour.
Convenient location close to QVB and trams about 3 blocks away. Good eateries close by
We liked the location and we were able to walk to a lot of the local sights. The rail system was awesome to get us to the farther locations. Overall very happy with the entire stay.
No Hot Shower pressure, balcony had no furniture or table or chairs just plain, parking is expensive and parks are awkward and $40 a night is a bit rich for this service, whole hotel needs some TLC, pretty run down overall, staff friendly at least
Liked very much the location of the property and the staff we're very friendly. The room was a little lacking in that the patio door could not lock (broken); we discovered a leak in the corner of the room when throw pillows were set aside for sleep and found wet the next morning; and the duct-work associated with the air con rattled something awful in our room interrupting sleep.
Reception staff were professional and helpful. Comfy area to wait with good coffee available Room spacious, bed comfy The bathroom is badly in need of renovation. The room was also a touch worn excellent position for getting around
Nice view and near darling harbour!
I had an awful experience at this hotel. The towels were ripped, the restroom door was broken, and the sheets were stained—completely unacceptable, the telephone didn’t work . The place was also extremely noisy, making it hard to get any rest. On top of that, the entire hotel felt old and poorly maintained. I would not recommend staying here.
Perfect place to stay. Affordable and central.
Disappointed
Whilst sheets were clean, there were hairs on the towels and surfaces not clean. Water in shower was not always hot.
Front desk staff were very welcoming, a huge asset to the hotel. Bed was very comfortable, room was clean and tidy. Good to have USB points in the room for charging. A shame that towels aren't checked as one had a huge hole in it and there were not a standard amount of towels, hand towels and wash cloths. Air conditioning was a bit tricky but maintenance were prompt at fixing it.
Wouldn’t stay again
Everything felt run down and worse than you’d hope and expect for this sort of stay
Right in center of city. Has underground parking which is a bonus. Very nice clean comfortable room
Great location hotel
The lights in the living room of the suite were very finicky…sometimes worked and sometimes didn’t. The dishwasher had mold in it and when we reported it they basically just ran a cycle through with water but it didn’t take the mold out. Second day they finally rectified that the issue. Also not enough towels were in the suite so needed to ask for more Having a washer & dryer in the suite was a nice bonus. Forgot some items in the suite and communication regarding the left items was very limited and never did hear a final communication from them
Good place to stay particyif you want a suite
Sydney Late Summer
Average, took a while to check in. We were offered a cheaper cash price than was quoted in the original booking ( $40 ) which we found strange we did not accept this offer. Being a finance person this could only be for tax evasion.
Staff try hard
The hotel rooms are basic but the staff are amazing. Our aircon wasn’t working properly so they switched us to another room. They were generally very helpful.
Nice hotel for short stay. The staff were very nice & friendly. The hotel is older therefore one can see that kitchen & bathroom needs a little updating. However, they served their purpose for our stay. Hotel was easily walkable to restaurants, shopping & sights. Transit was easy to access as well.
It is a nice vintage property.
Welcomed upgrade
Well I got upgraded to the penthouse so it was a very good stay :)
Very tired fittings and dirty tile grout in bathroom. Poorly repaired bathroom door. Stale smell in room.
The property is in a great location less than 5 minutes walk to Darling Harbour. The sheets and bed were of a high quality but the rooms were not. The first room we were put in (108) had a terrible smell and was very worn. We asked to be moved and were given a room on the same floor (108) which was just as bad. We said it was totally unacceptable as I was then feeling nauseous and had a headache but we were told they were fully booked. The receptionist tried ringing their other hotels but also booked so we had to stay one night. She said they would move us next day which they did. 16th floor was much better but room still very tired. I was told we’d get compensation but all I was given was a little pack of chocolate biscuits. I couldn’t speak to management and never heard from them. Will never stay there again!
We liked the location and the corner bedroom we had. 2 items need upgrade: The soundproofing is subpart for a hotel and we could hear the next door neighbors and car traffic. Also the mattress and pillow confort were also subpar. good stay anyway.
Beautiful hotel thoughtful provisions in the perfect location staffed by some truly beautiful understanding people. Special thanks to the night shift staff in reception that night.
Will not go back
A great time
Great location..less than 10 minutes to town hall station...Chinatown very close many good food options, 10 minutes easy walk to darling harbor, maybe 25 min to the rocks...it is a great location. The suite had a kitchen, micro,stove,kettle,wash_drier. All in all a great location and good price...btw there is salsa dancing on fri nights at darling harbor.....
Very poor experience
Very poor experience, there was a smell in my bedroom which I informed them of multiple time which they informed me that they tried to fix. After the 3 night I had to demand a room change (it was not offered) worst hotel experience I've had in many years
Terrible!
Property should be rated a 2 star! Room unclean, bathroom very old with cracked tiles and toilet. Shower literally dribbled out. Was supposed to stay for 7 nights but through hotels.com we managed to get a refund on 6 nights and paid for one and we rebooked elsewhere! Only saving grace was the staff were very understanding as I think they know how bad it is!
Upgraded to a large unit. The property is old and tired, but preparing to be renovated. Unit was fine for our stay.
Do not stay here. Besides being noisy and dated, the shower wouldn’t work. When I requested a refund for one night of my 2 night stay it was refused. The property should not being rented out at all if basic amenities do not work.
It was a great perfect place to stay
Communication was a bit difficult
Would not stay here again
Our bathrooms were not clean and had to call/message several times until housekeeping came to clean. King bed was rock hard. We were on the 18th floor and it was very noisy...could here traffic
Enjoyed our overnight stay. The procimity to Darling Harbour and Chinatown was excellent The staff were very courteous and friendly. Our room was upgrade and we enjoyed the extra space and amenities. We will stay again and recomend to friends.
This is an old tired property that inside need of an upgrade. And cleanliness is not top of mind here. Having said that the staff will do all they can but are clearly limited. For example, the gym equipment is broken and the water cooler was empty the entire time (despite telling staff everyday that it was). Also, no towels or wipes in the gym so …. Will not recommend this to others save for the fact is super close to Darlings Bay and easy to navigate the city centre
Overall room was great. There was some odd smells in the room from time to time. Not sure if it was coming from the air con or bathroom. Noisy from time to time, but everything else was good.
Enjoyed our stay.
We stayed for 3 days in Feb 2025. The management was very good to us. Great location to see the highlights of Sydney.
The hotel was in an excellent location for transportation in Sydney. The washer and dryer in the suite was a bonus.
I've stayed here twice in the business suites and i love how they are so newly renovated with really cool toilets!!! The toilets and bathroom is what makes me come back again and again :)
Book 2 rooms but 1 room was failure of AC. No one try to solve the issue even we checked out on the next day. No manager, no technician, only front desk staff help nothing. The worst experience we had stayed in the hotel around the world.
It was a great little get away for me. I stayed two nights and the hotel was clean and staff welcoming along with helpful.
