Service could improve.
The side entrance, which is now the temporary new main entrance, reportedly due to renovation, welcomes the visitor with a tattered dust and grime encrusted red rug, which could use an occasional good vacuuming. The shower body wash container was empty. Our room was not refreshed (not cleaned, no new towels, etc) on day 2 despite notifying the concierge desk later that afternoon that housekeeping had missed cleaning our room. Our room was finally cleaned, the body wash container filled, and used towels replaced on day 3 after the situation was brought to the attention of the reception desk. No apology nor compensation for the inconvenience offered.
We stayed here for one night while passing through. We brought our toddler along so we wanted a hotel in a safe area and close to public transport access. The stop is right across the street. It’s a short ride to Fisherman’s Wharf and surrounded by all the high end stores. We felt safe walking at night. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our daughter really enjoyed the glass elevator view! Nice, quiet hotel in the heart of Union Square. I’d stay here again in the future.
There were protesters for the hotel banging on drums and buckets early in the morning. Would have appreciated to be put on the opposite side of the hotel. I’ve stood here numerous times and it’s a beautiful hotel. Staff and location is great.
Very good property. Nice, clean rooms with really comfortable beds. Excellent location
The Westin St Francis is fabulous, as are their staff. Unfortunately the downtown area was hit hard post-Covid with tech workers & others not returning to their offices. The result is many large & small businesses have closed. Other area of SFO are still vibrant & worth the visit
Definitely worth the suite upgrade. Comfortable room and felt 'worth it' for the price compared to other hotels in the neighborhood
Check in was easy and we got an early check in. The gentleman at the desk was very kind and informative. Westin Hotels are always my favorite.
It's good but nothing special.
Great stay in Union square
Stay was good for the price. Located in the heart of Union square so it was walking distance to many shops and China Town. Loved the food and Lyft vouchers. Building is a bit outdated but it was overall a good stay.
Great place

It’s old school San Francisco. Very nice but some of the property is under construction
Great historic property in the heart of down town.
Love the well-cared for charm of the original rooms.
The St. Francis is THE hotel in San Francisco, right on Union Square. All the employees were friendly and helpful, and we loved being there
The floor, glasses, vent above in shower were dirty and there were crumbs and hairs in the unused bed. The staff were very friendly.
One of the best San Francisco hotels that i have stayed in. The staff were excellent, the history of the place is magnificent - check out their small exhibits around the hotel, most importantly the bed was comfy and room was clean. I will definitely recommend to others and will be staying there on future trips!
Nice
Good hotel in the middle of San Fran. You can literally walk to and from everywhere!
Was very classy and relaxed
A wonderful hotel just waiting for the beautiful bar at the front entrance to re-open.
Wonderful view
Love the location of this property in Union Square! The beds are the most comfortable out of all the hotels we visit.
When we arrived, there was a strike going on so it was loud, so the restaurants were closed. It was hard to get something to eat. The noise was terrible.
The protests were ongoing and therefore dining options were limited. Otherwise the property was great.
Great staff!
excellent
Beautiful rooms, clean and comfortable. Amazing views from our room and so much to do nearby.
We stay at the Westin St Francis each time we visit SF. It’s a beautiful hotel and has so much history. The staff is amazing each time we come. Shout outs to Azucena and Luis at the front desk who welcome you and always go the extra mile. Terrific ambassadors of SF and this lovely hotel. We recommend a junior suite in the classic building. We love the view of Union Square, especially at night.
Good service

Very comfortable and beautiful property
First time staying at Westin SF . Looked like some construction was going on st one of the entrance. Arrived and i’m not parking garage. Valet instantly waved me over and parked my car for me then walked inside and waited for about three minutes and check in line to which a very nice lady greeted me and asked if I had a reservation. I proceeded to tell her I did have a reservation and it was my girlfriend’s birthday. She then offered me a complementary wine tasting for the next day down in the lobby for me and my girlfriend I also mentioned to her how we had seen the hotel on TikTok and mentioned it had a good view . I booked the junior suite in the tower floor 23. The the view of the city was stunning to say the least. Rooms are clean quiet beds were comfortable. Had a nice two day stay and check out on Sunday. I got home and and realized I had left behind a Gucci bag with a few valuables. I called the hotel mind you this is maybe four hours after I check out, the lost and found people go up to the room and find my bag and FedEx ship it to me overnight. The one and only downside was I got charged twice on my card. I made the booking through Expedia and I had another charge from the Westin hotel to which I then had to call my credit card company and then they told me to call Weston so I called Weston and they looked into the issue and refunded my money other than that the stay was good. Just check your cards to make sure they don’t double charger.
Nice to see union Square safe to walk around again.
Gorgeous, historic stay at a lovely hotel.
The beds are so comfortable, and the staff are approachable and kind.

We loved every thing. It was great
Enjoyed our stay
Motel 6?
It was very Motel-6-ish at first! The sliding bathroom door was all ajar and we couldn’t open it to get to the bathroom. The tv didn’t work: engineer figured out that it was unplugged. The telephone in the room didn’t work! The phone never did work, but we had IMMEDIATE response about the bathroom door. The engineer was very helpful.
Will be good when the construction finishes. I would have appreciated an overview of where the hotel bars and restaurants are during this phase. I assumed the Clock Bar was closed but saw later it wasn’t but had made other plans. Also was never sure if there was any other spots at the hotel other than the lobby and lounge. Love the hotel though.
Great location with wonderful view and great front stuff, but breakfast buffet high price. After all very nice stay.
We had a room for 4. The pull out sofa could not be pulled out because of a TV console that was located directly in front of it (not enough room). Our kids had to sleep on the floor and on the couch. Not ideal.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great buffet breakfast and perks for being a Marriott member.
It’s all about location.
Great location and friendly staff!
A LOT OF HOMELESS NEAR THE AREA
Excellent customer service Centrally located at the Square
Staff was awesome. Very convenient to everything.
The city view was amazing and the staff is friendly.
Not worth the money spent on the room and grand view.. subpar service
Everything was super nice and clean. Rooms had everything you could ask for and the staff was great.
The room was really dark and the heater did not work.
Lobby was under construction and small area was open.
Excellent service and staff
Great view from the 26th floor :)
Amazing
The waiting time for elevators is too long
I love the room and it’s view but the parking, and homeless presence was horrible
I enjoyed the cleanliness and the view from my room.
All the workers were outside on strike and I could hear them all the way in our room at extremely early hours and lost sleep due to them, would not recommend
Nice, iconic hotel in the heart of San Francisco.
Jason who checked us in was the most unprofessional rude person I ever encountered He was literally jumping up and down cuz I was asking when can we get the room ready ! It was 3 PM and he kept yelling 4 PM and me keep asking how long for the room “ won’t make me get more “ Those were his exact words Well ! You won’t have us as guests again
I liked the history of the hotel. The area is a little rough. Beautiful view of union square from our room
Great location
The Westin was very nice, I got a spacious room with a view of downtown San Francisco as promised. The staff was very helpful and pleasant.
I love Westin but this location is being renovated so it was not the best place to stay in during the busy holidays but i wasnt notified before arrival.
Hotel was beautiful, as always. Employees on strike at the time and services, particularly bar and food services were virtually non-existent. Hotel failed to notify us in advance of these serious service disruptions. No room upgrade as a Titanium Marriott member. Club lounge was poor - paper plates and disposable knives and forks. Food was clearly catered and exactly the same every day. Loud protests on the streets during most of the day and night. Room was OK, but quite ordinary. Very disappointing experience!
Highly recommend
We were checked in by Herman who was very friendly and helpful. No usb ports in the room which was surprising and inconvenient. Otherwise a lovely stay.
Nice time the only issue was elevator wait times.
When I booked , I specifically choose the amenities for parking and when I checked in I had to pay again for parking , it was supposed to be free
The staff was a bit facetious.
No towels and never brought them when we called down. Came and told us to be quiet at 9pm on a Saturday when we were simply playing a family game and having fun. Room is mediocre.
I don’t like their parking
It was beautiful and the staff was so friendly and kind.
Construction closing the front entrance and lobby…last year there was construction elsewhere that took the ambience down a few notches…the substitute sugar tree exhibit was pathetic - just skip it until the real thing comes back
We were disappointed that the renovations closed the main entrance. Lobby wasn't as inviting.
Strike
The noise was horrible outside unable to sleep, employee strike was going on. Drumbeats on metal garbage cans, screaming on megaphones. No noise guidelines whatsoever. We rented 2 rooms for a birthday party and were placed on separate floors. No accommodations whatsoever. Every time we visit SF this is my favorite place. NEVER AGAIN
Kudos to house keeping and the staff at the Club lounge. The club breakfast was very good. This hotel is still under renovation and recovering from recent strike. May have rated higher but for these two factors. Elect to stay in the original property. The rooms are nice, particularly the Grand deluxe with Club room access. The towers are in dire need of renovation. Shout out for Ben, night Manager!
Something must be done about the protesters banging the barrel. It was awful anytime we had to leave and come back to the hotel and was painful to our ears. In fact, it was so disruptive to the customer I would not support whatever they are asking for.
Really enjoyed our stay! Valet parking is expensive. Will park at another garage next time.
BETTER THAN FAIRMONT
We used to stay at the Fairmont, but decided to change it this year and we had an amazing experience. Everybody was amazing. The hotel is beautiful way better than the Fairmont and it smelt amazing.
The property was great it felt like being back in time.
It seemed like the hotel might have been understaffed.
It was nice, but the renovation took a lot of the atmosphere out of the lobby and adjoining restaurant/bar areas. The elevators for the tower left you waiting up to 5 minutes several times. They seem to run only 2 of the 5. The room was nice and comfortable.
It was a great location to stay at. So convenient for the area where we were constantly just in and out.
No warning of renovations.
Was under construction and we weren’t informed. None of the restaurants or bars were open aside from the cafe. Also, the bathroom was small, and the toilet was so close to the wall you could barely sit down. They should have informed guest that it was under renovations since this was a holiday family trip, and none of the amenities we were looking forward to were open.
Great all around!!
The protests from their workers was insanely loud. Westin should probably pay/give healthcare to their employees. Will not be back.
Centrally located at Union Square.
This property was understaffed toilet had urine all over it. The tub was no longer white. You could not sleep because protesters have bull horns and metal cans beating on them all night long they want you to pay $81 per night for valet parking when you can’t even get in and out of their building, you had to go around to the side to enter this hotel needs to come off of your list of choices. My first time going to San Francisco and because of this hotel will be my last staff was very rude. No one identified themselves by their name I had to ask the list goes on and on this was horrible
Protesters striking the property with loud drums were on multiple sides of the property. They blocked entrances, yelled at guests and were disruptive. No restaurant services were available. The hotel should provide notification on all booking services that these conditions exist. I would not have booked had I known and will not book at this property again.
Great location
Great! The staff and service was wonderful despite strike outside of the hotel. I would recommend it!
The whole hotel! The restaurant was closed and also the nonexistent bar. They had only a snack bar and no other food options. No room service. Picketers at the entrance you have go around them. I used Expedia to book my tickets and stay or would’ve asked for a full refund
although short on staff, room was maintained and kept clean.
The hotel was under construction so there was no dining or room service options. There were people protesting outside the hotel as well, dis not help this rating.
