The only negative about staying at Rutledge Inn was finding it. We drove past it twice but missed it because of the sign. Was looking for Rutledge Inn but name was in small print at bottom of sign and missed it twice. After catching it the 3rd try, we enjoyed the over nite stay!
It worked out great for one night
Nice property to stay at while visiting family in Alabama
The bathroom fan in room 202 was extremely noisy (I believe the bearings were bad in the fan motor). Would be better if it were on a separate circuit from the light.
Was okay with hotel until I found out checking in there was a $20 per pet per night charge which was not advertised when I was searching for hotels.
.
It was nice and clean
Meets basic needs for short stay travelers
Front desk service was poor. The young man working did not greet us; was not visible any time we entered or exited the front door; he seemed to be sleeping in a chair behind the desk; questioned us multiple times about whether we had pets or a dog and did not speak clearly and I had to ask him to repeat a few times. We were in a room at the end of a hall near an exterior door that was not locked. When we reported that the door was not locked from the outside we were told they were going to get it fixed and rain had damaged it. There was no awning over the door. We asked for clean linens the second day and were given terribly stained ones that were very basic white and very rough. But Brandy the housekeeper was great to have us a very clean room. The bed was worn down and sank in the middle (probably time to replace) but otherwise comfortable.
Everything was good
Very clean & comfortable. Good bed, large room, good price.
I visited for a business trip and was pleased by how the Rutledge Inn met my expectations. The breakfast was served on time, the room was well kept, and the bathroom was orderly. Compared to a Hilton I stayed at the following night, I wish I was back in the Rutledge Inn! The service was great here and they were always able to meet my requests and answer my questions at the front desk.
It’s fine for the price
Y
It was peaceful and clean. The staff were so helpful.
Dog friendly
Nice, clean and well maintained hotel.
We had a great stay. Room was very clean and staff was very friendly. The breakfast was good. In this area again, will definitely stay at this hotel again.
Very kind and helpful as we evacuated there with our dog during hurricane Helene.
Dirty Floors
Room was good but the floors are Real dirty. They need steam Cleaning.
Customer service for both checking and check out was very personable.. the bedroom was a bit musty and air don’t work but I came to sleep and did
Location was great. Room wasn’t cleaned too well. Needed more fluffy pillows for the bed.
Very nice building, inside & out. Please allow a place for smokers to put their butts and sit down.
Staff was friendly. Hotel was clean. Had trouble with the room key cards. Overall, I was very satisfied with our stay and would be happy to stay there again.
It was ok
The hotel is clean and relatively comfortable. The door to the outside at the end of the hallway doesn't lock, so security is a concern. The staff sits watching loud movies on the front couch and don't come to the counter until you ring the bell which is an uncomfortable welcome to the place.
It was fine
IT Was Great
They were very friendly and kind, but that isnt enough. This property is seriously outdated and dirty. My niece's brand new shoes were black from walking on the carpet, the fridge had a huge amount of black mold in it, and there was a stinch in the rooms. They do not ise AC in the hallway or elevator. They need to completely renovate/clean all of the rooms and get rid of that nasty carpet.
This was a nice surprise, The Rutledge Inn, was in a quiet area and very clean and the staff very friendly.
Great room the hot tub was great
Very Nice Stay, clean comfortable rooms.
The facility was beyond our expectations, it was clean very roomy both room and bathroom. The breakfast was more than donuts and coffee. Every was clean on the counters and was monitored for cleanliness. Would definitely stay there no doubt, and would recommend hands down. it was a great experience.
Conformable hotel .
Very clean hotel and comfortable .
Great for the price
Breakfast was ok but limited options. No eggs or meat or yogurt but very good pastries. Staff was friendly and helpful.
The pool was closed for repairs, but I never saw any being done. The singular washer worked, but the dryer did not. The desk clerk did allow us to use the hotels dryer, so that edmund too horrible. The fans in the bathrooms were horrendously noisy. It was so bad that I took a shower in the dark rather than allowing that fan to run.
Don’t waste your money!!
The bed was horrible && the sheets had lent balls on them.. I left after being there a couple of hours! Will not stay here AGAIN!!
It’s Giving “Stay Somewhere Else”
I was nervous about the hotel because of the mixed reviews but tried to be positive. Believe the low reviews. First room smelt like urine, the toilet was covered in it, pubic hair on counter in bathroom, debris all over carpet, old coffee filter in coffee maker. Asked for another room and was switched. Second room appeared cleaner until we went to bed and discovered blood on the sheets. Called and they brought new sheets up. We were there for baseball at Troy and needed to use the laundry. The dryer was broken and when I saw the condition of the washer, I refused to wash my son’s clothes in it. I filled the bath tub with hot water and detergent and washed them that way. Just pay the extra and stay somewhere else.
Clean and Convenient
Clean and convenient. This is our regular overnight stay hotel on the way to the beach. A little disappointed that the pool was closed, but otherwise everything was good. The BBQ restaurant directly in front of the hotel is very good and great for supper.
Hotel in need of updates - U get what you pay for
I am not sure how this hotel was rated 8.8. We stopped here on our way to Navarre Beach, making the morning drive only 2.5 hours away. Reviews and great price $70, led us to stay here. The hotel exterior has been painted and the interior too. The leather chairs in rooms should have been thrown out long ago as they were so worn, it was hard to tell they were once leather. Bathroom mirrors were cracked, and shower had rust. Beds were soft, but okay. Breakfast was as basic as it gets. Cereal, waffle maker, packaged donuts and granola bars. The sign said Executive Inn, but the printer was out of ink and didn't work. The receptionist tried to multiple ways to help print a document, but could not as the owner was out of the country and had logged off all applications. It was the only hotel in town, but is next to a good BBQ restaurant. As the title says, you get what you pay for. I'd rate this a 5 or 6 at best. You might stay here if you are on a VERY tight budget.
It was a simple place but clean and nice. Easily accessible and a simple checkin. Enjoyed my stay.
This was the most awful experience I have ever had and I love this hotel. I would have recommended it to anyone until last night
It was a nice place to staff staff were great
very clean, safe, quiet. We were not staying to swim but second time we stayed and pool closed both time
Good value and clean
1. Pool broken, dirty and abandoned 2. Carpet dirty and separating and tack strip exposed. 3. Hotel Entrance furniture was dirty and worn out 4. Door locks didn’t work. Told front desk. Never fixed 5. Lack luster work ethic of hotel management
my favorite place to stay when i visit the kids and grandkids.
5 star
Wish the pool was in working order, other than that great location, very clean and quiet.
This was such a nice, clean, quiet hotel to stay at. The room and bathroom were VERY clean and spacious and they were able to accommodate us coming in late. The customer service was great also. We will be book marking this hotel to stay at when we travel again.
The staff was friendly & the accommodations were clean & comfortable. I will stay there again when i visit the area.
Reasonably priced
Nice place to stay rooms clean and comfortable and the barbecue place next door was delicious
I wanted to support a local business close to my destination. Seemed ok for the reviews and price so I was game. Owner/Manager was polite and nice at check in and that is where the positive ends and changes. Check checked in, he says out loud room number along with directions to get to it. #1 key cards didn’t work. Not a huge deal On to room #2, scraps of plastic and wood on the carpet, hair on the made bed pillow cases then mold in the wall ac unit. I raised concern and noted I would like a refund and to leave. He goes to inspect room and apologizes that the room wasn’t cleaned and shouldn’t have been assigned. Floor maybe. Pillow cases and moldy AC unit. That’s beyond not cleaned. I politely explain I do not wish to see a 3rd room and will be leaving. Please just issue a refund so I can be on my way. He insist on a refund of ten or another room. I politely decline state I don’t feel comfortable staying. He gets annoyed about my mention of the room # announcement and states he has to give me the info(it’s written on the card holder) with a nasty attitude and insists another room offer covers what he should have to do. I’ll have to eat the cost for rest to stay to leave and find something else. I hope he uses the money he kept from me to make improvements.
Old outdated rooms and smells like cigarettes.
The jacuzzi suites are so relaxing!
Not 5 star, but comfortable.
This is a nice hotel for the area. Prices are higher than expected and vary daily. Breakfast is simple waffle, toast, pastry, cereal, coffee, orange juice and put away precisely at 9:00am. The linen is dingy white and wash clothes are more like rags. There is a coffee maker, small fridge,, microwave, and a nice size wall mounted tv. Office is open 24 hrs. If your stay is longer than 1 day, don’t expect house keeping every day. Staff is very pleasant and accommodating. There is plenty of parking and the environment is very quiet. It’s not a 5 star hotel, but I was comfortable and will stay there on my future visits.
Excellent hotel
This was a great hotel. We had to come to Alabama for family emergency and looked for a hotel near family. This hotel was recommended by my nephew. Hotel was neat and clean with fresh smell as you walk in. It was quiet and beds were comfy. We slept very well. Even the baseboards were clean. Everyone was friendly. The only thing I missed was having fresh fruit or yogurt on the breakfast.
It was convenient for where we were going. Rooms were clean & comfortable. Limited breakfast was ok. Elevator was a little scary sounding. Inspection expires in it in a few days. Pool was nasty. Staff was nice.
Nice place for the price
Very nice hotel for the money. Nothing real fancy but clean and the staff is very friendly
Nothing much
Nice quiet stay
Overall a good stay ,beds could've been more comfortable kinda hard. Great service
Loved the reasonable price
Friendly staff. Room was clean and very comfortable.
Very friendly staff! Accommodated my pets and room was clean and smelled good. We got the non smoking and I was worried it might smell as we’ve dealt with that before because you know, people don’t wanna follow rules but this was not the case. It was surprisingly really nice. We will stay again!!!
It was an average hotel price was right. They need new pillows and the sheets were pilling. Laundry are was in a strange place and old. They were clearly remodeling took the time to paint walls but not ceiling. Grout on tiles in bathroom need a good cleaning. Housekeeping knocked on door at 8:45 when check out was at 11.
Good enough we enjoyed
Great bargain
We always try to stay here when traveling through here. Quiet, clean & comfortable rooms.
Good, but employees smoking outside of our room
The check-in process was smooth and staff was friendly. The rooms were clean and acceptable. The only complaint is that employees were smoking outside of our room. We could smell it in our room some and then were bombarded with smoke every time we walked out the room. Employees were outside of there every time, smoking.
We have stayed here a few times and actually drive out of the way to stay here but never again. We checked in late after working all day and driving 7 hrs. Checked into our room and there were 2 beds not a king. I could not find our information an chalked it up as to me making the mistake. Found it later while laying in the bed. Called the desk and the guy had the audacity to tell me that i had reserved 2 beds. I told him that i would show him on the phone in the morning and the idiot told me I got what I reserved. Complained about noise from the room above us at 10:00 and 11:00. Was awakened again at 3 a.m. and 4:39 a.m. and it never stopped. I complained again about everything at check out. No offer of refund, discount, nothing! No plug in the sink and the bathroom is too dark to see anything. NEVER AGAIN!!!
Disappointed
Received an email immediately after booking saying that I needed to give more credit card information or booking would be cancelled. I tried to inquire by email but never received a reply. Hard to find; sign says Executive Inn. Called inn but desk person unable to give directions. Upon registration, desk clerk was very friendly and pleasant, not helpful with recommendations for dinner. There were no towels in the bathroom. I requested these but not brought. My husband had to return to the front desk to get the towels. Room was comfortable and quiet. Slept well. Breakfast was bare bones packaged things
This trip was to attend a funeral. Rooms were clean, but dated. Fridge did not work properly, no hair dryer (no big deal, but it is convenient to have one).
Overnight stay
Everything was great. Especially the bed; extremely comfortable!
Drew and Staff were great
An Experience.
Beds, furnishing and bathroom were clean. There was evidence of water leaks in ceiling and popcorn covering was peeling in places looked like mole developing in one corner Black looking dust or mole developing on AC discharge vents TV had only few channels to select. Repairs needed.
The property convenient for me to visit my relatives. Considering I was in town for a family reunion.
The staff was nice rooms were very much expected we stayed in the one with the jacuzzi which was also nice
Pleasantly surprised
Better than I thought, because it is a older hotel. But I was very pleased with it. Would stay again, and recommend.Check in was pleasant, room was clean and air worked great. Hotel was pretty full, but still quite.Breakfast could of been better but It did have coffee and muffins so I was happy. Great for a one or two night stay to rest.
Will stay again
Very friendly and customer oriented place to say. Just bring own pillow and some fruit as breakfast does not include a fruit.
pleasantly surprised
The hotel is fine for a one night stop over stay. There was no bugs and it was fairly clean. The room needs some updating. The AC did not work, when we spoke to front desk they said “what’s your room? Oh ya… the compressor freezes in that room” then he suggested “we should just use the fan option” that’s it, no option to change rooms even though the hotel was not booked by any means and if you know that’s a problem then stop putting people in that room. The room needs some updating for instance, the drain in shower and shower head is corroded and I mean bad. The toilet was broken at the bottom but repaired with putty, the sheets were stained, the wash clothes were stained, the walls and baseboards were scratched and gross, the door didn’t have an automatic close feature. Breakfast was ok, it was waffles, cereal and muffins no hot food other then waffles. Other then that and some nice upgrades like instead of a shampoo/conditioner combo (which people with hair hate) give some nicer toiletries, for a king size bed instead of three pillows maybe give us four and a shower curtain that doesn’t touch you when you shower. I say all this yet we still stayed, we slept in a comfortable bed, and for a one night stay it was clean enough and most importantly had no bugs. It was a safe location, and there is some amazing BBQ across from the hotel!
Quiet and clean. Staff was friendly and I just really enjoyed my stay. I am there usually twice a month
Rutledge Inn
Clerk was not ingaged.
Weekend with Family
The gentleman who checked me in was very pleasant and helpful. The refrigerator was making a loud noise , he instantly came to replace with. The hospitality was great. Though it’s in a small town the only thing I would suggest is a little more pest control . This was our second time staying here and each time we was amazed. We travel a lot one thing is certain the staff is amazing!!
Broken Bed
This hotel is convenient to my grandmother's home, however it continues to be old and outdated. The only reason why I stayed a second time is because of the 3 minute drive, but I won't do it again. It's dirty, I had to wait to get towels and my bed had to be fixed because the bed frame broke. I did not switch rooms because this particular room had updated furniture and didn't look like they got it off the street. I definitely will not stay here again. It is definitely worth driving the extra miles and money to Troy for a better hotel and experience. If you are just sleeping here this may be for you. Comfort and Cleaniness its a disaster. And no I was not offered a discount for the broken bed.
Safe, quiet area
The property was maintained fairly well, but nothing spectacular. It was a good value for the money
I love the property. Everything was clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast had several options and was good. The BBQ restaurant that is in the parking lot is amazing! I felt safe when waking around the hotel and in the parking lot. My only issues were that the beds are hard and not very comfortable. Also, they should replace the shower curtain rods with the ones that curve out. This will allow for more space in the shower and more sanitary as the curtain wouldn’t be touching each person as they shower.
Good stop
It was a nice stop If we could have figured out the TV it would hav been perfect for the money.
It's a pleasant place to stay. Clean, quiet, and comfortable. The price is right, and the breakfast was solid: we had toast, raisin toast, muffins, and coffee. The water is hot, and the rooms are spacious. The door keys didn't really work: we had to get new ones, and then try them 16 times to get in, but it wasn't a huge deal because there were two of us. We just made sure that one of us was in the room at all times to let the other in.
Personnel was friendly ans welcoming
Excellent!
Veey nice staff, very clean and comfortable! Would stay again.
It was a bit tired.
We were very pleasantly surprised. It exceeded our expectations in terms of value for the price. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and the shower hot and refreshing. Breakfast was a bit disappointing but not unexpected. Due to dietary and health restrictions there wasn’t much there we could eat. Everything was pretty high sugar with no healthy options. But that’s true of many hotel free breakfasts.
Wonderful
Wonderful hotel. Would stay here again.
Stayed here for one night while in the area. Seemed very clean and orderly. Staff was great. Had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We will stay here again, if we are in the area.
everything was good except limited breakfast selection
The property was a good, basic place to stay - no frills, but adequate. The place was clean, a/c worked great, good shower & comfortable bed. However, the bed linens, although clean, were pretty worn & pillows hard & lumpy. The breakfast was adequate - but only if you like high carbs & fat! No protein😞 The people working there are friendly and helpful.
Staff was very accommodating and friendly.
Good place to stay
Staff was friendly and place was clean. We had no issues.
Pros: Good bed and pillows, shower had lots of pressure and hot water. No bugs. Cons: The "fitness center" was a joke. An elliptical that was ready to fall apart. Treadmill okay, a few weights. As another review posted, the TV remote there was missing back cover and batteries. The hotel is a little on the old side- shabby but clean. I would stay there again, just for the clean beds and good shower.
Property is nice & clean, staff was very friendly although i was booked into different rooms that were already occupied. Third room’s the charm!
The Rutledge Inn | Hotel in Luverne | Travala.com
Our room had bed bugs (especially in our beds), some nasty black stuff on the back of the door, a tub with black marks and dripping faucet, a dirty, smelly refrigerator, mold on the vents of the A/C and the guy at the desk had a bad attitude. To rectify the problem, we were offered to move to another room and receive a $10 credit or simply check out. This is a very small town with this hotel being the only one in town. They suggested the "motel" down the street. It was already nearly 10pm and my aunt is handicap. I suggested we get help moving to the new room. The woman (Bonita) from the desk did come and help. I went back to tell them other problems with the room the man at the desk was unapologetic and rude! I also mentioned 1/2 off the 1st night (of a 3 night stay for 2rooms, totalling nearly $500) would be better compensation. He said to me, we're done here ma'am and also said they rectified the problem with giving us a new room. My issue is bed bugs may have already got into our things before we moved. I feel itchy and creeped out! I am totally disappointed and will never stay here again!!
