have stayed here a few times, super clean, comfy bed, good food options in the hotel and nearby
Very understaffed and extremely noisy public spaces. Also elevators and corridors very dark
Great gym, lousy coffee makers, very very dark
.
Overall nice place and great value for money hotel in DC
Fun and lively area. 15 minutes from Union Train Station and close enough to main tourist attractions.
Beautiful hotel close to local restaurants and attractions.
Great restaurants!
Very bad service all the crwe
The Line-DC was a top notch stay! Great location in hip Adams Morgan, well appointed room and great amenities, comfortable and quiet. Don’t miss the happy hour at No Goodbyes inside the hotel.
Delightful hotel in Adams Morgan with wonderful art in the charming, special rooms. Also a great area with many coffee shops and ethnic restaurants. If you are Looking for a great experience rather than same old, same old type accommodations, this is the place!
Lovely hotel!
Beautiful building, really nice bar and lounge area. The room was tastefully decorated and comfortable. Check in was easy and the gym was well equipped.
The breakfast was amazing--had a couple of different options and the food was the best I have had. I had 4 breakfasts and one dinner and it was nice to east so well!
You’ll pay a lot for parking and fees
Although the rooms were wonderfully retro, the front desk staff were unfriendly and unwelcoming. The parking cost about as much as the hotel. There’s a resort fee for apparently, the use of a gym and the use of robes and slippers.
Great property in cool neighborhood.
I had an extremely rude host check me and my band into our rooms. She was disrespectful and unkind, upset and huffing from the moment I simply asked her to make an extra key for me. She also claimed a card I had never used or owned didn’t work and was extremely rude when I simply explained it had to be an error. Overall, it was a very jarring and unpleasant welcome to the hotel for us. Customer service is important to me so won’t return to The Line on future travels.
Convenient location to family. Comfortable bed. Shower leaked on floor
Very nice.
Stayed with a friend and we had a wonderful time. The room was just like described and we enjoyed the location. Our only issue was finding the right temperature in the shower and managing the showerhead. It’s a great brand of showerhead and it’s a very well-made product, but because of the hard water and not being maintained properly overtime, The showerheads probably need to be replaced along with an adjustment in the diverter. In the scheme of things, this was not a big issue and we would probably go back to stay again. Worth mentioning, depending on how evenly distributed and easy to regulate shower is for you..
Unfortunately although I usually love The Line, I had the worst hotel experience of my life there this time. The door was stuck shut when I arrived at midnight, and I had to wait three hours for a maintenance person to arrive to open the door (which took him exactly 3 seconds once he arrived!). I only had 2 hours of sleep before an Uber came to pick me up for the airport. My contacts were melded to my eyes. And the staff was basically making me feel guilty for being upset. Yuck. I travel to DC regularly and usually would automatically book The Line, but I’ll have to think twice next time. The good news: I was comped that last night and told that I would receive some perks for my next visit, so I do appreciate that.
Cozy
Loved the throwback theme of the room - lights, furniture, Photo on the wall of Bill Clinton playing the sax, even the old fashioned radio with premium sound and Bluetooth! Easy check-in, great bartender at the restaurant with knowledge and specialty alcoholic beverages. Will stay again!
Great stay, amazing coffee, good chill vibe, beautiful and warm staff
Solid. Better than corporate hotels but not amazin
It’s hard to complain about the experience at the hotel. Everything was good and my hotel room was excellent. A good size and comfortable. There are a few small things. With the shower in my room didn’t work on the second morning, the bar and Lounge area is very dark which made it hard to have a conversation and work. Plus the service there was poor it was hard to find staff and it felt like we were a little abandoned.
Tragically Bad.
It cannot be overstated how bad the service and hospitality are at the Line DC.
Skip the line
Staff seemed troubled to have guess there. Not sure if it had to do with the recent ownership transfer. Front of house staff was extremely unprofessional
Excellent customer service.
Great service. The front desk was attentive and accommodating. The hotel was very nice. My wife already wants to go back.
It was fine... disappointed with check in, once the manager showed up, I saw things starting to happen, but before that it was typical lip service.
Well Below the Line
Horrible service from the front desk, the agent couldn’t figure out how to allow me to pay my room charge. I was charged $59 dollars for a $28 dollar breakfast, and my room didn’t even have a pen to order breakfast. It’s time to make some staffing choices consistent with quality and not quantity.
Excellent stay.
Excellent hotel!
It’s our first time staying here, and honestly, I don’t think we’ll stay anywhere else in DC again! The staff was awesome!!
What a gem! I definitely would stay here again. I loved the vibe and the walkability to bars and restaurants.
Great hotel in DC
Nice hotel. Unique room design, appreciated the umbrella robe and toiletries. $70 parking fee and $30 amenities fee were unexpected. Plan accordingly
Our Tv was broken and we couldn’t turn it off the volume was up all night and we could t sleep. The staff ignored our requests for help.
Like the old world charm. Staff is very friendly and helpful
The best dog friendly place we’ve stayed at yet! We came with our 75lb doodle( @mr.yoshidoodle). The attached restaurant, No Goodbyes is also dog friendly and the staff is welcoming and happy! Everything was clean, the food was delicious. Will def stay here again
I have stayed at the Line DC a couple of times. The food at the restaurant and cafe is great, the gym is lovely, the service is friendly, and the beds are comfy. I highly recommend. However, there is construction going on across the street as they're building a new building and it's has woken me up at 7am each time I've stayed (once was a whole week in September). Next time I will request to not be on the first floor and if possible not be facing the street where the construction is happening.

Highly trained friendly staff 🌟
Awesome
The water in shower would only get too warm (90° or so)
Cool hotel in a super hip neighborhood
It was comfortable. Only issue was water bottles were not available except for 1st day
Great stay and the coolest location.
This property is a neighborhood gem! It has an amazing location in the heart of Adams Morgan with a diverse assortment of restaurants and cool shops just across the street in every direction. The façade is a beautiful, historic building original to the neighborhood. I lived in this area over 20 years ago and it was a delight to stay here. It is clean, stylishly true to the church theme, incorporating original woodwork & accents. Tihis property is pet friendly (we brought our dog). Another small anecdote, you can control all the lights in the room from bedside controls.
Overall I loved staying here, super cool aesthetic and great location. The front-dest staff and service was subpar for the price point...I was going to a wedding at the hotel and they wanted to charge me $75 to check-in a few hours early which I declined. I've never heard of a hotel doing that before.
All
Water bottles should be supplied as well as a price list of items in the mini bar.
Very nice coffee bar has great coffee
I love staying here
horrible. never returning and neither should you.
hotel room was sub standard fir the rate. many aspects missing from the room compared to what was advertised. staff were not helpful either. the dust in the room was so bad it affected my respiratory system and this was exacerbated by the fact there we’re building works opposite the room where sand was being used. the hotel never warned of this and so the sandiness plus the noise coming from the works made it it worst. i couldn’t get peace.
The hotel does not provide daily room service and doesn’t inform its customers of that fact.
Great
Not like other LINE properties
Poor service and attitude from team. AC in the room not working properly - called to have it looked at no flow up. They offered a fan, that never materialised. Disappointed as we have stayed at other LINE properties, but this is more like a holiday inn. Also amenities fee? What amenities are you charging $30 per day for?
Be prepared for the hotel to not honor what you booked for not booking direct. When they gave us a major downgrade to the room category what we pre-paid for with no credit, they said that it doesn’t matter what room you book through Expedia, that Expedia doesn’t tell them what was booked, and that that they are entitled to put you in any room they have left over. You could pay for a suite and be put into their smallest room they have. “Take it up with Expedia, since you chose to do business with them.” In our case that means we paid a 5-star room rate but were given a with no visible window and right next to a car-sized air handler for the hotel that kept us up all night with a constant loud noise and vibration (measured at 70 decibels, which is akin to sleeping next to a running washing machine). The room is smaller than any category they list on their own direct website. Unlike what the website shows, besides no view, there was no seating furniture. The room also didn’t have hot water, so cold showers and half the power outlets didn’t work (so we had to take turns charging our devices). They say they have valet parking (no self park option) but this is not quite true. They allow a third party parking company to operate outside their entrance, but they take no responsibility for them and if there’s any issue they will tell you it’s a separate company and not their responsibility or problem. Expect to routinely wait 30
What they don't tell you about staying at The Line (although I should have called and asked) is that there is only residential parking in the neighborhood surrounding the hotel which means you have to valet park at the hotel. We were told valet parking was $55/night, but with taxes, fees, and other charges, it is $100/day. We ended up having to pay an additional $500 in parking which would have changed our decision to stay at The Line - we wish we had known.
The hotel has tried hard to be a bit different and it might work if more care had been given to the details. The interiors are not in great shape and need a refresh, there don’t seem to be enough staff at the front desk area and they could definitely improve their breakfast offerings especially given how much space they have for the restaurant.
The noise that could be heard inside the hotel room was terrible. This hotel should be advertised only for people looking to be out late who won’t care. I was here for business and found it to be disruptive.
Fine, but nothing like The Line in LA
Most importantly, the stay was fine. Nothing terrible happened and it's a decent hotel. That said, it was a bit of a disappointing stay. Check in was fine, but I just sort of got handed my keys. There was a wedding going on, so maybe people were spread thin, and if so, I get it. But no one told me about the various restaurants or the fitness center or anything really... And there's no info in the room other than a QR code. No one gave me a wifi code so I went to call the front desk and there's no phone in the room. Little stuff makes a big difference when you've been traveling and land in a random spot at 9pm. The room itself was ok. I know and like that The Line has an early 20th century vibe. But the walls in my room were all banged up and dirty from furniture being moved around and it just felt kind of grungy. And the shower... A trickle from the shower head, it reminded me of a shower I once took in a remote part of Jamaica from a barrel on the roof with a hose coming down. The room itself was spacious and great and with lots of potential. In comparison, my stays at Line LA have been incredible enough that I sought out The Line in DC on purpose. There was nothing terrible about this one that would like ruin your night's sleep or make you want to leave, I just came in excited to stay at The Line and left with a meh feeling.
Really nice quiet room with pleasant and helpful staff. Very walkable to restaurants.
Lovely main lobby space
The property itself is cool, but my main problem with this hotel is that it bills itself as "luxury" when it is very far from a luxury experience. Everything is mid: The rooms themselves are mid. The cleaning is mid. The service is nice, but mid. I didn't get a hot shower once during my stay, and the shower is so simple -- the shower head doesn't have any way of modifying the flow.. plus it was covered in mineral deposits. The prices of things like the room service suggest luxury, but the quality is just not there.
It was a pleasant stay.
Great spot for Adam’s Morgan. Awesome lobby and lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance.
The rooms were average for the price you pay. The furniture and room decor seemed to be an afterthought.
Great spot in DC. Rooms are clean and comfy. Building and area are cool. Lots of great food options.
Love visiting this hotel! It’s in my top 3 places to return to whenever I’m in town
Rooms large and comfortable and remarkably quiet for such a lively neighborhood. Nice breakfast options in the spacious lobby
Perfect location. Nice space to work on 1st floor.
Nice staff!
The room was nice. The restaurant not so much
Hip hotel near restaurants and bars. Great hotel restaurant also. Clean and comfortable rooms.
This hotel has stopped caring. From the little things — took two calls to reception to figure out the WiFi password— to a toilet that clogged not once but twice, and the room service lunch that was impossible to obtain because no one picked up the phone, our experience at what used to be our favorite DC hotel was disappointing. And just to rub salt in the wound, halfway through our visit, the hotel sent me a text to see how my stay was going. I relayed my concerns, to which I got a cheerful auto reply encouraging me to share my experience on Trip Advisor. Talk about a missed opportunity to offset the damage….
Comfortable & in lively neighborhood
Super comfy bed & really great water pressure in the shower
The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Valet parking was a breeze
Hotel was very dark and not very clean
👍
Great stay, this is a lovely boutique hotel. The lobby area is more dark than it needs to be, but the room was clean, comfortable, minimalistic design. Basic amenities. Location is great, walkable neighborhood, great local restaurants on 18th street. The hotel restaurant, bar and coffee shop are great! Food, drinks and service were very good. I would stay here again
No room in mini refrigerator to store our own food or beverages. Disliked display of over priced snacks/drinks. Dislike additional charge each night for gym, which we did not plan to use.
We enjoyed the food/drinks, location, and the rooms. The only downside was the one-ply toilet paper. Beautiful hotel!
Room overall was excellent. However, they charged me an extra $30 amenity fee which wasn't part of the initial price. They also charged an early check-in fee which they did not tell me about (but refunded after I complained).
One of the best hotels in DC puts you right in between U-Street/Shaw and AdMo I would 10/10 recommend.
Overall has everything you want. And it’s clean. Hardwood floors vs carpeting is a plus!
Beautifully repurposed church. Architecture is stunning and historical preservation of the time period well done. Rooms are lovely with a stunning view of the Washington Monument.
Historical and partially renovated hotel is a decent place to stay when visiting Adams Morgan area. It is very short distance to many restaurants and stores. Room was clean, relatively spacious and WiFi worked well. I was a bit disappointed by the quality of breakfast and restaurant (it seems frying oil has not been replaced for a while). Overall it was very enjoyable stay.
I always have a great stay there. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, the location is convenient and the service is always excellent.
Loved our stay! The beds were so comfortable and the rooms were clean and really cutely decorated. If you like a good espresso martini, try their lady finger down at the bar… incredible.
This hotel is a solid choice for exploring downtown Washington DC. Its location is fantastic – everything is within walking distance or a short public transit or uber ride. Parking, as expected in the city, is a challenge and expensive. The hotel itself is clean and well-maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. However, we were surprised that the tap and shower water were only giving the hot water and cold water was not available. This was a minor inconvenience but definitely unexpected. Overall, we had a pleasant stay.
A lovely hotel, with an old church serving as its pedestrian entrance, lounge, bar, coffee shop etc.The room was large and beautifully decorated, with comfy beds and a great shower. My friend signed up for Sunday sunset yoga on the rooftop and said it was great. The hotel is in the centre of Adams Morgan with a short walk to a great independent bookstore (Lost City); great gelato (Pitango) and tons of restaurants and live music. A great place to stay in DC, and reasonably priced given the room size and comfort, the fact it isn't a large chain, and the location.
Great place in DC
Great stay at a great hotel. Staff is friendly, rooms are spacious and hotel is in great location. Coffee shop has wonderful muffins!
Family Wedding
We were in town for a family wedding at the hotel. Everything was wonderful.
Had higher expectations for the property. The staff was great, but the location is not great. You pay premium price for an average experience.
I was not initially given an upgraded room despite having paid for one at check in. First I was told I was in an upgraded room but wasn’t. Then, I was told there weren’t any more upgraded rooms to put me in. They then called me back after awhile and said they would be moving me to a better room. All this was late at night after a very long drive there. Once I went through the hassle of changing rooms, I called the front desk for the wifi password but was put on hold indefinitely. So, I ended up walking down to the lobby only to find the person at the front desk idle. Basically, I received substandard customer service. I was awoken at 3:00 am by partying neighbors. Room was meh. I won’t be going back.
Rooms were spacious and comfortable but desperately need a good paint job and fixing odds and ends. Staff were polite but always made it seem like you were disturbing them.
Great Dog-Friendly Hotel
Awesome find. Zero fuss trip with our dog. Were able to hang out in the restaurant for several hours after we checked out, and before last meeting.
Unexpected fees
