Although we were disappointed that we were not notified of the property change from Margaritaville to Dreams Cap Cana, we loved the property. Dreams has done a wonderful job with the food, service, cleanliness and amenities. The pools and landscape were open and inviting. There were plenty of options for bathroom facilities and dining. The rooms were spacious and very clean with a sizable balcony. The only complaints we had was the beach, it could use some work. That said, it was easy to walk up the beach and swim in front of the other properties. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Excellent
Property was very nice and the staffs are very helpful and friendly.
Well maintained. Staff friendly, engaging and fun.
Emanuel the bartender for the villa suites was very professional and gave super good service and made delicious drinks!
Check in okay but property was sold thought we were going to margaritaville but dreams resort instead no one notified us nor could Hyatt rind my reservation on pins and needles until we checked in we were told we had preferred status for what we paid but we were lied to about that also
We really enjoyed this resort. Staff was friendly and rooms were really nice. Tons of pools with swim up bars and bunch of restaurants onsite. The sports club stays open late with music which was a bonus !
The property itself was fine. The resort was purchased by Hyatt & a lot of changes were made with respect to activities, trips, excursions…etc. not much to do but sit at pool or beach & drink
When we booked this was a Margaritaville property. However it changed to a Hyatt dreams a few months later. Like many, we were worried there would be construction or other inconveniences. The hotel was beautiful and clean aside from some fit and finish issues like leaky tubs and showers, peeling paint. Our room was upgraded for $300 one time fee to a suite with a 2nd floor swim out pool, this was worth it and was haggled down from the $400/night ask when we checked in. This is somewhere between a family resort and a party resort. They play loud music at the pool every day which can get annoying. The staff was great and very helpful. They bring your drinks right to you and will be very attentive if you float them a decent tip after your first drink. Drink quality and strength depends on the bartender, same as anywhere I suppose. Beach is terrible and rocky, but you can just walk down to the other Hyatt properties that share the stretch of coastline and it was beautiful. Restaurants were good, best food by far was Italian place and buffet. There was decent bands that played in the main outdoor bar starting at 8pm and the seating arrangement was very comfortable. Couches and cocktail tables everywhere. Theatre entertainment was corny but enjoyable. By no means a 5 star experience, but an excellent budget option and my partner and I would gladly return given we booked 5 days and 4 nights for around $2600 total (flights included).
Had a great time with our group, however the dining options were my least favorite. The buffet was always the best place to eat any meal but is not always open for dinner as an option. The restaurants were just ok.
We loved how all of the staff went along and helped make my friend’s birthday memorable. Our butler Jorge did a wonderful job with working with our schedule for 13 people as well as quick to provide service when requested. He also answered many questions we had in a professional manner. I recommend requesting Jorge as your butler! Don’t forget to tip!
Just perfect
Beautiful resort. Friendly staff. Excellent food and drinks. Amazing pool. Had a wonderful week!
This was an amazing experience from the start date to the end day. Everything was perfect.
Unfortunately we couldn’t experience any specialty restaurants long wait and they didn’t take reservations. Concerned about the food specifically ice and water in juices ,as we all got sick . We didn’t feel it was all adults only it was kids in all areas .. the staff sometimes distracted not attentive to the needs the timing was off not ergency
Everything was perfect. They turned the hotel into dreams. But it was still an amazing experience and everything I was clean. The staff was friendly. It was the greatest forty eight hour trip I ever had
Perfect location with excellent guest attention
I’ve never been so disappointed on a vacation in my life. We booked Margaritaville, an ADULT ONLY resort, in October only to learn it is now Dreams and kid-friendly. This was a bait and switchwe feel taken advantage of. In addition, the food was horrendous! The were very limited options. The restaurants had very limited and staggered hours. The only place open 24hrs was the coffee shop, which served stale food that I was afraid to eat because it had been sitting out ALL DAY (I have pictures). There was the buffet, bar/grill, Italian, Asian, and steak house but they were only open 3 days out of the week and the steak house required reservations and there was NO availability the entire time we were there (Mon-Fri). The portions were very small (2 very small spring rolls as appetizer for 2 adults; 1 spring roll a piece). The drinks were horrible. We were there for New Year’s Eve and continued to ask what activities were planned to celebrate NYE and was told nothing. The place was like a ghost town… not festive at all! As we were sitting in the outside bar and heard music in the distance. We followed the music and found an entire NYE party on the beach so we had a 15min party and did the NYE countdown. What a let down! We feel so cheated!!! So many others there shared the same feeling. They had been there when it was Margaritaville and couldn’t believe how things went downhill so fast. The staff was unpleasant as well, except for Oscar’s in Carribean restaurant. I could go on
Heartbreaking experience. Returned after an amazing visit 6 months prior. Happy to see some employees I recognized and felt like I was home when I checked in. As a Solo female traveler who has traveled the world I am used to the overly flirty men employees at resorts, but never expected anything beyond that. After checking in the bell boy brought me to my room proceeded to push me up against the wall in my room and aggressively made out with me. He has since been let go from the property, but women be aware of your safety. Even in the gated community of Cap Cana and the gates of the resort you never know if you're truly safe.
When we got to this vacation, we realized that Margaritaville was just sold to Hyatt and were never told. The staff was a hit and miss as some were very good and others were terrible. Probably a 60-40 split. Room service was basically non-existent and we couldn't even get water for the last 3 days we were there. I would rate it a 5/6 out of 10.
Very friendly staff and clean area
Not what we expect in Capcana! The beach was awful, cant swim the installations were ok, for the price you i got a way better resort on punta cana that include a swim up pool out of my room..
No longer margaritaville…now Dreams Can Cana…wish we knew that before but probably wouldn’t have changed anything. Beach was a bit rocky but short walk to sand. Can’t complain about anything else, was a great stay!
The staff was excellent very friendly and helpful. The hotel needs some work but Hyatt just brought them out and they were working to fix. The beach was smelly and had Stone that made it hard to Access the water
While the resort was clean, it lacked night life and as advertised. It was also not “adults only” - there were a lot of children. When I asked staff, they said they’re not “adults only” anymore - a change made a few days ago. Their response wasn’t very clear. Seemed a little weird to not have received any communication about this change - even though I booked months in advance.
We boat our package in Adult resort as was advertised. But in reality it’s not. Kids are everywhere. You can’t have a pool or dining area without. Other than the resort has no beach access at all. We were walking to swimming to the beach belongs to the other resorts where we can’t use the seats and facilities. Night entertainment is poor to none.
Great place
When I booked this trip in October, I booked the hotel named Margaritaville and it was adults only. So imagine my surprise when we show up in December being welcomed to “Dreams Resort and Spa”. I never received an email from Margaritaville nor Expedia informing us that it has been changed to a dreams resort and it was not adults only. So definitely not what I expected. I also was hoping for a vacation where people aren’t trying to sell you things and won’t take no for an answer. The spa people set up a stand directly infront the buffet so imagine coming out of breakfast everyday and people trying to sell you a 50 mins massage for $175 and they just don’t understand “no”. But that can be understandable, however what I don’t understand is why there’s a guy trying to “explain” some benefits of booking with their new sister hotel “secrets” which is adults only. He offered to take us to the new hotel where we will get free breakfast and a gift certificate for two people at the spa and get this, they have a raffle and if you win, you get a free 7 days stay at the secrets resort. It all sounded a little too sketchy and he just won’t leave us alone. He cornered us before breakfast and waited for us to finish eating and followed us again repeating the same thing over and over. When we kept saying we weren’t interested, he started to become hostile and saying that we’ll make him lose his points. He even went up to my parents’ room and knock on the door. I will not return to this hotel!
Stayed during a change of ownership everything we had access to was super nice! The beach access was abit of a walk but definitely doable
Pros for my stay Pool was nice I enjoyed it . Bartenders were very good and made great drinks . Beach was nice although I had to walk along the beach a bit for the good area as the one directly in front of the resort was rocky and hurt your feet. The specialty restaurants were really good. Normally resort food is average but these were great. Buffet was okay. Check in/out was quick/smooth. Cons with my stay There was trash still in the garbage for our room from previous guests when we checked in. Room safe did not work. Not much entertainment. Saw roaches in the room 5 times. Ants in mini fridge/around room. Complained to reception about bugs in room. All they did was send a worker to spray bug spray in room around fridge where they were. This only agitated the roaches more I believe as they appeared more after that. Very rainy week during our stay and there is no cover going to different restaurants. Was told our room should have an umbrella in the closet by staff but there was none there. Asked for one at reception was told there is none as they are rebranding from marvaritaville and most of the umbrellas are that branding. Seen other guests with umbrellas. We got wet just trying to get to dinner multiple nights.
Terrible resort. Insect infestation in multiple rooms, got food poisoning
I was there for 3 days and it was raining and they didn't have an umbrella for me.
This was no longer a Margaritiville Resort. Ownership changed weeks ago and you, expedia, failed to notify us. I was a massive disapointment and waste of over $3400. I need a manager/leader to contact me to rectify the situation. We travelled 10 hours to arrive at a resort we did not book.
Everything wascexcellent
My stay was booked in September 2024 for Margaritaville, which is known as a fun party resort At no time was it mentioned that Dreams had purchased the property and it is now a family resort. My sister had the swim up suite. We could not enjoy that because children were swimming and playing from their room to hers and other guests rooms. At the poolside babies were crying although this particular section was " for adults" This vacation was planned for adults only. No parties at night any longer. My room although it was spacious and a had nice set up, it was not clean. There was a double sink and one of the sinks had hair clippings from someone shaving. The staff is wonderful. Friendly, courteous, and kind. There are plenty of diferent restaurants on sites to choose from. My favorites were the Bar and Grill and the Caribbean
Staff
Everything was amazing from the moment we arrived! The staff was the friendliest group of people we’ve ever met and so very helpful! The grounds were pristine and you constantly saw staff cleaning up. The beach left something to be desired. It was very weedy and had an odor to it that was unpleasant, but the cabanas on the beach and around the pools were a perfect way to spend a lazy day! We had a massage at the spa and it was an experience we’ll never forget! The staff at the spa was top notch and the massage was amazing!
The property wasn’t ADULTS ONLY… the name is “Dreams” which a family resort.. I booked back in October and should’ve been informed that it was changing companies & kids will be there during my stay giving me an option to stay else where… the alcohol was WELL liquor.. I asked for Tito’s was told you had to buy the bottle in order to get it same for sweet wine… if you have top shelf liquor then allow the guest to upgrade to a platinum package… we made the best out of our 5 days but I wouldn’t stay there again‼️
Nice place to relax
The staff is amazing & food was very good. Since property is now A Dreams resort the property had kids and the reason we booked that resort was it was supposed to be adults only and all inclusive. I feel we should have been given the option prior to arriving to switch resorts. Also, the beach is complete seaweed. I feel Margaritaville & Expedia should have notified us of the change in ownership, etc.. I had 2 filters in my search for a resort ( Adults only & All inclusive).
good service
Service was average, it seemed like a lot the workers didn’t care for their work nor the clients. Poor entertainment during the day specially at the main pool. Food was good at the restaurant , but the buffet was awful during breakfast. There were flies and not a variety of food.
Muy bonito
We did like the facilities and the staff and cookers are very nice friendly polite. What i didnt like was the beach need to improve theres alot of rocks they need to clean it so they could swim in that area near the Hotel. Above all it was nice.
Really loved our room at the villas! We had an upstairs room but b/c of my husbands knee problems I asked for a downstairs room and they moved us the very next day. We didn’t know for the first 3 days that the hotel was changing over from margaritaville to a Hyatt. They began making a lot of changes like closing some of the restaurants but it still was done pretty well. Overall we had a great vacation. I did encounter some of the staff who stood out like: Juan, our butler, waitresses: Juana, Stefani, Elisa, sun??, oscari, Ana, Beatrice. Rafael at frank & lolas. George and Santiago @ JWBs. Loved the Italian, JWBs, and Asian were the best restaurants. The resident singer was great! I think his name was Crowell?? Anyway, entertainment was pretty good!
Already shared with property
We start our journey with the news that’s the hotel we selected to stay was sell to another administration and was under renovation, we don’t receive any options to decided if we want to move to another hotel. One night we lost water service, there’s no activity on nights and our only entertainment was the pool. We selected an adults only hotel but there’s so many families with children not good. Really I don’t recommended this experience to anyone.
The hotel was not adults only as they sold us, there were children everywhere and in the pool, my trip was to relax which I could not do, I am very disappointed
Great
I enjoyed the place for a good time. But you should be better in the room services, minibar and some Restaurant Services. I will be back in the future.
The only thing that I could say is that the beach is a little more rocky than any other resort I’ve been too. But besides that everything else was perfect.
Margaritaville was such a pleasant environment, staff was always accommodating, pools were fun with swim up bars, the spa was out of this world. The experience was so soothing from sauna to steam room to the polar plunge pool two the Jacuzzi the couples massage was the best I’ve ever had. Margaritaville is now the dream, but the staff is the same.
Absolute nightmare, the week of Thanksgiving the hotel changed management - closed restaurant and buffet for dinner, had virtually no activities going on. Staff was unaware and unable to provide any information as to events or activities. The beach is unsafe since there is very little sand and bare rocks can hurt your feet if you try to go in the water. You will have to walk 0.5 miles to a public beach if you want to enjoy a swim on the beach. They advertise that have water sports which is not the case, they have ZERO water activities and when asked about it stated that Expedia misrepresents their amenities. I feel cheated , lied to and taken an advantage off. DO NOT BOOK IN THIS HOTEL.
I loved it my sister and I
When I got to the property. Nothing was margaritaville. A whole new company had bought the property so all the guest was confused. For this I cannot give 5 stars. Noone was informed ahead of time. Do not book this if you’re looking for margaritaville. This property is now Dreams.
Staff service was very poor. Had to ask for the same thing multiple times and it’s still wasn’t addressed. Really poor service.
I recently stayed at Margaritaville Cap Cana and had a mixed experience overall. Here's a breakdown: Food (5/5): The food was absolutely fantastic! Every meal was a delight, with a great variety of options to suit different tastes. From breakfast to dinner, the flavors and presentation were top-notch. Customer Service (3/5): While the staff were generally friendly and attentive, there were a few issues that impacted our experience. Upon arrival, there was a delay of 1.5 hours to receive our room after the official check-in time of 3 PM, which was quite frustrating. Additionally, the room we were assigned had a problem with the toilet, which had flushing issues that were not resolved promptly. Activities and Entertainment (2/5): Unfortunately, this was the biggest letdown. There was a noticeable lack of engaging activities and entertainment options, which left us looking for things to do during our stay. It felt underwhelming compared to other resorts in the area. Overall, while the food was a definite highlight, the delays and room issues, combined with the lack of entertainment, made the experience fall short of expectations. I hope the hotel improves these aspects for future guests.
Advertised 10 restaurants but only 3- 4 were open. Noisy with change of managment. Room fridge never stocked. Id suggest elsewhere till the change is complete.
Fabulous
Great place great service
Horrible
Horrible
We went right when they switched to dreams so it definitely wasn’t a margaritaville experience. Some restaurants were closed for renovations. Some food was really good some was average. Staff was amazing and beautiful resort. Especially the pool. Beach this time of year wasn’t really usable but that’s okay, we mostly enjoyed the pools
We had to change our room on the first day due to construction. The second room had flooding created from our bathtub. Both of us became sick due to a combination of food poisoning. Both of us were accosted by rowdy people (one of the dumb male guests was yelling and threatening my wife at the pool) with limited support from the staff other than providing information. We likely won’t be visiting the Dominican in our lifetime again due to our terrible experience at this resort. Our worst vacation ever.
Disappointment with lack of accuracy
Disappointed with change in ownership without notification. Changed happened the day we checked in. I reserved adults only and children were in the hotel. Difficult with elderly parents. Beach was terrible. No transparency that ocean is full of rocks and algae. I would have selected another hotel especially on juanillo beach. I have lost faith and trust with hotels.com. Not the first issue with hotels descriptions. Also will never rent a car through your website
I paid for Adult only all inclusive and there was kids everywhere. Also if you don’t make a reservation for dinner you won’t eat because most restaurants there was closed
Usually, when you see property photos they are staged and taken when the property first opened. The photos did not lie! The rooms, the entire property is beautiful, clean and well-maintained. And the staff was wonderful! There was always someone nearby who would greet or help. We really had a great time, and a great experience all around.
V
Very good staff, great coffe shop service and great food. Sadly they were changing to “Dreams” hotels and last night we booked, they even closed several of the services supposedly due to renewals (including main buffet restaurant) leaving basically one option for dinner: Room service….. imagine that situation. You could really feel the tense environment, construction work removing stuff all over the place……. And so on. General Dislikes: no disco, no premium drinks(like at all) & very bad evening show.
Just want to say this resort was fantastic and I want to shine a light on 2 great employees Carlos from the Italian restaurant and Maria from the boat house. They were very welcoming and the best.
Great service
Check in process was way too long. The experience was just not the elevated experience I had anticipated. Food was decent. Pools were great. Housekeeping was good. Bartenders couldn't care less. It was just okay.
Love the staff very attentive to the turis Gregorio and Felix Great people . The resort needs more after hours activities for adults.
This was my favorite stay by far! I’ve been to many different resorts however this one seems to be my favorite! It has many food options, sushi, philly cheese steak, burgers and chicken at the pool, steakhouse, italian, ETC. This resort is only 20 mins from the Airport which is really convenient! If you want to book excursions you can do it at the resort. If you’re looking for a cabana, they’re available free of charge! Absolutely great and I got the cheapest room which also came with a balcony! Overall this was probably my favorite trip!
Great rooms, service & food. Had a nice time.
I like everything
The place is beautiful and the people are friendly and extremely helpful, very impressed
Wonderful stay! Staff was great!
Staff no matters. Poor quality
Chilled out vibe, phenominal staff, beautiful decor in bright island teals, lush grounds, the villas are absolutely top notch! Best room we’ve ever stayed in.
We had an oceanfront suite with a balcony and it was fantastic. The adults only pool was great. The food was really good and there are alot of options. The employees were so nice and attentive. The beach is great if you are looking to lay on a lounge chair and relax but the water itself is rocky. You woukd have to walk down the beach a bit to swim. Also we stayed on the adult side and it was great but all of the restaurants are shared with the family side. So if you are looking for a true kid free vacation this isnt necessarily it.
Really love the stay, good service and food.
It was nice. Just wish the beach was more like a beach. Needs more work at the beach!
Hope that the new administration keeps this hotel as cool as it is.
Service & room was excellent. Only recommendation, To have more options for food. As a vegetarian, we had very limited options for food. Highly recommended to have Indian chef on premises to attract more American Indian tourists.
Very friendly
The staff were extremely friendly and punctual. As soon as we checked in, we were greeted with margaritas, which I loved! Even though there was a language barrier, the staff made sure we knew where everything was located. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to suit all kinds of palates. For my first time in DR, I am glad to have chosen this resort.
Beach not clean
I like the staff. There are leaks from the roof almost everywhere you go, making it, sometimes unsafe. The food is ok, and at the restaurant they have one brand of white and one brand of red wine, but they try to sell you wine from an extensive list, while limiting you to only 2 options on the “all inclusive package”. I really don’t like this kind of approach.
Food could be improved
Absolutely fantastic experience across the board in terms of excellent foods and drinks, excellent locations for walking the beach or using one of the many outdoor pools and excellent services provided for by the hard working staff members. We would rate the all-inclusive resort experience as a 12 on a scale of 1 to 10!!
I like the room and service, I like the option to taste different type of food. I Like the clean pool. I DON'T LIKE THE BEACH
It nice and clean 👌
This property was an amazing stay. The staff were all extremely friendly, informative, welcoming and most importantly professional. The food was delicious especially Rum Runner. The location was safe and clean. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
The property was beautiful and clean. I would have thought there would have been more activities at the resort. Aside from going to the pool and bars there really was not much else to do on property. Definitely book excursions throughout your stay,
I stayed at this property the last week of October and it was overly crowded. The food options were delicious. It was NOT buffet style. The staff was courteous, friendly and helpful. The beaches are rocky and have seaweed but still very beautiful. It was very hot and humid during the day. I would stay here again!
We loved Carlos and Goegerio at Salty Rim, they made our experience great!
Stayed here during our honey moon. It was absolutely perfect. The food was delicious. Entertainment was so fun. Would love to come back sometime
I didn't like that two mornings we heard a baby cry when the hotel is for adults only.
Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana Hammock - An Adults Only All-Inclusive Experience | Home in Punta Cana | Travala.com
This property is in transition from margaritaville to Dreams cap Cana (Hyatt brand) and it shows! The pros of this property - concierge butler service, Italian restaurant, the pool, theater, the landscaping. The cons just added up - one sink in room didn’t work, no hand soap in room, air conditioner in room was either full blast cold or nothing, room service inconsistent, grizzle steak at steakhouse, water bottles seemed suspicious (like they had been opened prior), liquor choices…lots of little things that add up. As a long time all inclusive traveler I would recommend Punta Cana in January as it was beautiful!!! ….,but a different Hyatt property in Punta Cana like the Zalara or Ziva.
