There was some dips in the floor, and the shower wasn't fully clean other than that all good.
Was a great stay
Cleaner never hoovered in 5 days or wiped down shelves in bathroom or room.Shower tray.was blocked. They sent maintenance up to unblock it he never cleaned up after him.We had to clean up ourselves and put bleach down afterwards because of the smell.
Fabulous
Very nice hotel in a very convenient location
Close to public transportation and shopping.
The room was way to hot unable to open window that looked out on to a brick wall
Good hotel for business
Never ever come to this hotel!
The Customer Service was terrible and left me traumatised. I booked for two nights and received my key card on first night so clearly checked in before midnight. In second night they booked out my room and another guest entered my room whilst zI was semi naked it was traumatising for me. A receptionist came banging on my door to get out the room even though I explained I was booked for two nights and was threatened that they will call the police if I didn't show my ID. I showed my ID and nobody got back to me about the admin error. I had to call reception who explained my booking was accidently deleted and they rebooked my room and they apologised they double booked my room. I had no apology from the receptionist how she banged on my door with a thteatening attitude. I couldn't sleep that night and checked out early as possible. I want a full refund for how I was left terrified and traumatised that someone would enter my room again.I will never come back to this hotel again or recommend it. In all the last 3 decades I have used hotels, I never been treated like this so poorly ever.
Good location comfort and price.
Very nice hotel for the price. Very convenient for Wembley as on both overground and Bakerloo lines. Also a short bus journey from Camden Market. The room was air conditioned which is something I wish more hotels did in this country. Staff were friendly. Room was spotless except the air vent could do with a dusting. Some of the fixtures were perhaps a little worn but nothing excessive.
Overall area of the hotel was great, lots of food places and shops nearby. Also right next to the overground atation which was very handy. Room was nice enough but the shower leaked onto the bathroom floor. This caused me to slip and injure my ankle as I didnt know it was leaking water until after my shower. I went down to the front desk to ask for help to be given ice in a pillowcase and to be told there wasnt a single first aid kit in the entire hotel! We were given an apology and told we could switch rooms, however that never happened! Very poor customer service. There were also extra charges to my bank account without my knowledge. When I called about this, I was told to contact expedia and basically shrugged off on the phone. Would stay in the same area but definitely not in this hotel again!
My stay
The room had an awful damp. I couldn’t even open the window as there were no mechanics to do so. It was down the corridor leading up to the door also. Left me feeling quite sick. I did ask for another room and was told there wasn’t one but one could be available on my second day. This was not escalated or relayed back to me. I would not stay again or recommend this Hotel.
Second time staying here, the staff are lovely, very helpful. Rooms are clean if a litte tired . But excellent value for money .
Don’t walk, run away!!
Awful. My room smelled like mildew. The bed was like a rock. The room looked old and beat up. The cost was too high for such an awful place. My daughter and niece were another room. The AC and towel warmer were also not working. Their room also smelled of mildew. Light over the mirror was broken. Carpet was stained. Time for an overhaul and a major renovation.
Squalid useless hotel. And I got bitten by bugs
Faulty lights dirty and problems with door keys - I registered a complaint and there has been no response. In addition I called your company for sending me check in info 24 hours after I booked and while I was in transit suggesting that I needed photo id to access the room - if there are specific requirements, you acknowledge these at the point of booking. I was promised a call back from hotels.com - this has not happened either.
Excellent staff. Great location. Reasonable room rates ( a fabulous bargain ).
Although it is hard to complain for the price and it is much better than some hotels, there was an awful lot of noise from something (sounded like banging cables in the wind) coming from outside my room (or within the walls) added to the cold shower most morning, the experience could have been better but for a place just to sleep and for the price, it could have been a lot worse
More could be done to make the air fresher.
We got to our room which was very small and extremely hot air conditioning did not work window did not open we were given a portable fan which did not stand on it one you had to wedge it up did not tilt either light fixture beside the bed was very loose not secured tv remote was missing drawers in units did not open those that did were broken
The hotel is in dying need of an uplift. The bathrooms were rusty, not clean, the curtains held by small threads, old furniture, bad smell in the corridors and the room, the first day my door would not close, also could not use the safe as it was not working, the manager had to take it into his office to keep my valuables while I was out. Nothing happened but I didn’t feel safe at night in the area.
Unfortunately apt 115 had fluff balls in corner of room, a broken bin and broken shower. Also no water. With these factors addressed we would have had a better experience.
Staff were lovely but the bed was the worst I have ever Slept on. The mattress was way too small and had huge gaps on either side. This mattress was clearly not for two people to sleep on. The air con was also extremely loud and rattled all night.
I made a complaint about my stay due to cleanliness and disturbance caused by hotel staff waking me up at 6am. I have still not received any fir of response or acknowledgment of my complaint
I'm disgusted with the room we stayed in at your hotel. On arrival the toilet would not flush, the drawers were damaged. We couldn't get the air con to work but the receptionist sorted this for us. We had only bath towels and the cleaners had no hand towels either. The kettle was broken and dangerously so. Our first nights sleep was horrendous the pillows were like blocks of wood and is was so hot in the room. I complained to reception the following morning and they said they would give us a different room but we had a concert in Hyde park and would not return until very late. Whilst I was in reception someone had already checked out for to the heat in the room and another lady was complaining. This was my daughter's first visit to London and was so excited to be actually staying in a"proper" hotel. She will remember it, that's for sure but for all the wrong reasons. Disgusting service and 4* you have to be kidding, never again.
Nice Stay
Nice stay. Courteous Staff. Good eateries around. Close to tube station. Will return surely
Ok.
Reception was having a referb, so there was building work going on, the rooms arse also in need of a major referb, carpet is ripped and torn in multiple places. Tiny TV that is hard to hear as its boxed in, also says they have a gym, but that's a gym next to door that you needs to pay for.
Stopover
Good location on Maida Vale in terms of transport. Decent bars & restaurants in area.
Truly the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had. Windows sealed shut and no air conditioning in the room. A small fan had been brought into the room, however, this only blew out warm air and made the heat in our room even more unbearable. I have attempted to contact the hotel multiple times for a refund and have received nothing back.
When I selected the room I was aware that the room had no windows. In this room you felT cramped. Spider webs in the closet. The bathroom was "clean" but the mildew was ridiculous. I took pictures. The bedding was clean. When I was given the room key she said to me, take elevator to the first floor then go through the corridors. Well, it was corridor after corridor, up two steps a couple of more corridors down around 12 steps down the hall to the box they call a room... one more day and I would go bonkers. Horrible experience.
Shambles
Arrived to boiling hot room even though reception been to check all in order, asked reception to sort air conditioning as hottest day of year and no openable windows. Assured be ok on my return as was going out for food. On my return was worse! Again got reception up to be told was not working, room was like a sauna. Issued with a pathetic fan that was no help whatsoever. The attitude of reception was a problem, repeating himself saying no other rooms and I wasn't the only one this affected. After zero sleep asked as I left for management to contact me but did not happen. At 11am I rang hotel to be told that If I returned they would exchange rooms so they could clean the sauna to sell to some other poor soul. No apologies, nothing. Parkings a nightmare, areas rough as anything. Avoid at all costs. Did get manager email and sent complaint but heard nothing
We had no air con for the 2 days we were here, the toilet seat was broken. The furniture was damaged, one of the lights was hanging of the wall
The hotel room was tired and in desperate need of a paint job. The bathroom was ok but the shower seal on the screen didn't work so the water from the shower flooded the bathroom floor. The bed was comfy , the room itself would have benefited from having a window that did not require a wedge to allow fresh air in . The do not disturb function on the door is an interesting concept, you can only use this if you are ok with a bright red light shining across the room whilst you try to sleep. The housekeeping service team were phenomenal, I returned from my day out to find my room immaculate, including fresh towels. I very much appreciated their care.
Maitrise is a reasonably priced hotel in a decent location. Good transport amenities into Central London. Lotsa restaurants nearby. Areas of improvement could be overall cleanliness of premises and common areas. Staff are courteous and helpful.
Liked the shower facilities, space and cleanliness very good in hotel room. Good hot drink facilities and restocked well on our second day. A little wait to get the hotel locker unlocked, but once sorted it was easy to use. Didn't like: WIFI licence out of date (Not secure, so I just used my phone data instead. TV signal poor, only the BBC news channel had good signal. Bath high and can be slippy when wet trying to step out (could do with a bath mat and/or a fitted handle at edge of bath). Hotel room 001 was next to the elevator and you could also hear people opening and closing door nearby. Also the water boiler kept making washing machine type noises for 10 minutes at a time.
Friendly helpful hotel staff, safe location, compact clean room, area hotel is in is not a tourist location which is not bad but if your looking for variety in dinning location close by you will not find it here. All and all I had a decent stay.
Stuffy, in need of an overhaul.
The first room we were given had a terrible smell of damp as soon as we entered the room. On inspection, there was extensive obvious mould all around the bedframe, inside the wardrobe and in the bathroom. How it passed a cleanliness inspection I'll never know. Lady on reception took us to another room- the only other one that was available and there was an obvious drain smell but at least no mould. Turns out one side of this rooms electrics did not work so TV and bathroom light did not work. No opening windows and no working Aircon. So very stuffy. The two positives were that the bed was comfortable and the shower( in the dark) had good pressure. The place needs a thorough inspection and upgrade as the location is ideal.
Not worth
On arrival the receptionist asked for my name gave me the form without any facial communication kept on talking to a friend ignoring my presence. Gave me the card, had to find my way to the lift. The room was very smelly, stuffy, air conditioning fairly working. Shower water was luke warm. Terrible booking ever. For good reputation for Hotels.com you better take off the hotel from your lists. Am a regular client for Hotels.com this is none closer to the good standard I have been. Greatly disappointed. The room floor was so uneven, carpet dirty.
Price was good value. Location was great s was no easy to get around.
The restaurant is no longer (was it ever?) part of the hotel. The room with a window is down steps past laundry and looks out at a brick wall. The flat screen TV was attached in a fairly rudimentary way to the wall. There was no tea in the room - just coffee. The bed was fine.
Convenient
Best no nonsense hotel in London. I use it for most of my stays in London.
Do not recommend this hotel at all
The room in the basement was a nightmare to get to. There was no indication when making the booking that it was not easy to access for my elderly mother. Whilst there a customer complained about the bed sheets not having been changed which was similar of our experience. Our room was just below an air handling unit which kept starting and stopping all night making sleeping near on impossible. I do not recommend this hotel at all especially if you're elderly, have lots of bags, don't have great mobility or aren't fit
Dampness in room!
The moment you walk in the room we could smell the dampness!!, bed was broken at bottom of base would not close.
Modern and clean hotel room, good location to tube station and also very affordable.
.
Felt so unsafe, was so dirty and a woman had access to our door and let herself in whilst we were getting ready. no point in even getting a window room as the windows are boarded off due to the area being unsafe
Not too bad
Overall it was an ok stay, bathroom had a horrible sewer smell and there was a dirty cup on the bin in there when we got in the room and there were also hairs in the shower tray. The bed wasn’t very comfortable and the cushion was rock hard.
Hotel was disappointing, three pillows on a double bed then told there are no extra pillows. Sink was blocked and when I reported it I was told that the maintenance guy would be there later on?! Hotel room was smelly and smelt like drains. It appeared that staff are aware of the low budget dirty hotel however they were polite and accommodating.
night 1 no air conditioning & no hot water either, Day 2 moved us to another room which was smaller , complained and was finally granted another more compatible room.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
This is the 3rd time i’ve stayed here and this was by far the worst. You walk into the reception to an overwhelming smell of urine, i’m guessing there is a toilet nearby. The shower was dirty, the tv channels kept changing by itself. The bed was so hard and uncomfortable to sleep on, the tap in the bathroom was loose and felt like it was gonna fall off the counter at anytime. The receptionist who checked me in, helped herself into my room while i was undressed When i confronted the manager he was not very receptive of my concerns, said he would speak to her and walked off. I asked for a call back with an explanation which has not happened. The hotel is also not answering the phone to me.
Mould
I’m sure all the rooms are not like this but ours smelt like damp mould. There was mould all around the room and window would not open to get fresh air. I attempted to email to sort this out however no reply.
Wouldnt go back
The entrance to the hotel was nice and welcoming. We were on the basement floor which was dark and dreary, and very very loud. Room condition overall okay, many dings and marks in the walls and furniture. Needs a lick of paint. Walls extremely thin can hear next door make a cup of tea. Bathroom lights very dark. 2 lights did not work, one flashed like in a bloody rave. Flush very weak had to press it a few times to flush anything. Shower was nice but the shower screen did nothing and flooded the room. Mattresses are comfortable however only get one, very very thin pillow so not comfortable. During the night every night there was a constant beeping/ringing coming from outside the room somewhere, maybe above, sounded as if a fire door or something was left open so the beeping was to alarm, but it never stopped. Terrible
Our room was dirty, toilet seat was loose, shower tray was dirty, tower rail was very dusty, floor was uneven and a trip hazard, only two pillows on the bed for two adults, dead spider on the wall, room generally not clean, air con was not working and we were unable to open the window- Room was extremely hot at night.
This was an average hotel, would call it more of.a budget hotel. Needed a bit of a tidy up, our room still had confetti from a party or something on the floor. The bedding had holes in it, bedding was more of a single quilt on a double bed. We complained twice but nothing was done.
Not an enjoyable stay to say the least
When arriving at the hotel, i was told that my payment had already been taken out of my account. I did not authorise this, as i was intending to pay cash when i arrived. My friend and i were given two rooms, one on the fourth floor one on the 1st. Not what we wanted. The room.131 was practically impossible to find. No signs to help. My room 404 had not been cleaned properly as the shower plug was jammed (and i mean jammed) with long hair. And made me feel sick. We had a smoke alarm.go off where someone had been smoking. So all in all this was the worse experience i have had booking with your company.
Easy check in and check out, for an affordable price the stay was very adequate. No frills - but I got what I expected.
This is not a 4 Star Hotel. Be warned
My stay at the Maitrise was not a good experience. Firstly, when I arrived I had to wait 5-6 minutes before anyone appeared at the reception desk. When I made a comment, the young lady started to argue about the time and was insistent it was only 2 minutes. That’s not the point. I shouldn’t have to wait. On check out( 7.58am the following day) there was again no one on reception. The room I was allocated (115) was very scruffy with a lot of marks on the walls, marks on the bathroom mirror and the toilet wasn’t cleaned properly with dried urine stains on the toilet basin. The light switches by the bedside don’t work, and to switch them off you have to get out of bed, which seems to defeat the objective To add insult to injury, the full amount was taken from my credit card on the 15th September and a further £123.30 taken on the day of departure (21/9) . I have queried this second amount as it is unlawful for this payment to have been taken and Hotels.com contacted The Maiteise only to be told by the manager that it hasn’t been taken (I have illustrated the payment through my credit card bill). Overall, for the amount paid, the experience was really poor. I am not sure how the Maitrise Hotel has achieved a 4 Star status as it really doesn't represent the condition of the rooms or the service offered
Great location. Good price
The hotel was kelt very clean . the air conditioner was not very good my room was hot . also there were fleas in the room. I saw a small black bug jump from the bathroom floor and was on my chest waking up. I got bites on my throat and ears as i coverd my whole body in a track suit amd long socks and my hear was exposed. I work in pest control and just was staying to sleepmand head out early each mornong of my stay so the accompadations were perfect and the location to transit and where i needed to be in the city was ideal. The front desk was kind and and made check in and out very easy. Hotel was very clean and was very affordable.
The location was great. The staff were helpful. There was a loud noise in my room all night. It sounded like the drains or AC unit. The noise was very loud.
A particular staff in the evening shift would not change the room that had problem allowing me stay at a smelly room for 5 days. If it were not the short circuit issue in the room on the last day, I wouldn’t be changed to a more airy room at the same floor. The remaining of the staff, mainly female staffs were very nice, including the cleaning ladies. However my overall stay was ruined by this evening staff who was rude and lazy.
Hotel was average at best. Not in the best area.
Standard of the room not 4 star unfortunately.
I do feel the room was not to the standard that I would have expected from a hotel of this calibre. There were marks on most of the walls and bathroom door, the bathroom had excess limescale throughout especially in the shower cubicle, there was a big stain on the carpet as you entered the room and overall the room was lacking in cleanliness and not to the expected standard I would have expected from a 4 star establishment.
Not the best
I accidentally booked single room for 1 person. Luckily when we got there and I was informed they had a superior king room available which was an extra £45 which was my fault. Unfortunately if this was one of their best room the others must be terrible. Very small and cramped with no way of opening any windows for some fresh air.
Room was very clean and the property was well maintained
One member of staff was very rude to me on arrival. Hotel smells, due to being unable to open windows for fresh air. Cleaner's did not clean the room any of the days of our stay, only topped up coffee and sugar supply, and just left some clean towels on the un-made bed. Room was stuffy as unable to open window, I paid extra for a room with a window, just to find that I couldn't open it for fresh air.
We stayed at your hotel Saturday 1st July room number and had the following issues. We checked in at 3.30pm to be told by reception we had to wait for our room to be ready, (which should have been ready at 2pm) When we eventually went up to the room we noticed initially only 1 pillow per person, we requested an additional pillow each at reception as we went out, which they agreed to do but upon our return at 9.30pm this request hadn't been actioned and reception was unmanned. We also had the following issues upon our return, but as mentioned previously there was no one at reception to report the issues to. 1 - Fuse Box cracked and hanging off wall (illegal) 2- Door didn't close quickly enough to meet fire regulations (illegal) 3- Shower wheels missing on runners, and runners not in groove so unable to close doors and use shower. 4- Curtains on window on different rails so didn't meet letting the light in 5- Bedside lamp missing bulb so unusable 6- No bedside table 7- cracked wall 8- Dirty and missing grout in shower and bathroom 9- Shower has limescale, not cleaned properly 10 - Dirty marks on linen. 11. Toilet door and frame rotten at base. 12. Toilet very high, was on tiptoes to use We decided not to use your restaurant in the morning as we were worried the standard would be as awful as the room. When we left again there was no manager present to report the issues too. In our opinion this hotel is not 2 star let alone 4 star advertised by yourselves and the
Suited the purpose. clean room although I suspect someone had been smoking in it. comfortable bed. good shower. No complaints
Excellent Hotel, Excellent Price... Perfect.
Lovely hotel, comfortable, clean, modern and superb value for money. Will definitely be staying again.
Not a 4* hotel at all but staff were great and really friendly and helpful
Wouldn’t stay here unless you are desperate
Good location but other than that wouldn’t recommend. Staff quite abrupt. Room tiny. Drawers broken. Fridge broken and unplugged with loads of water in bottom. Not even enough floor place to put tiny suitcase on floor. No bathroom toiletries other than tiny hand soap. Sink plug broken and tap very wobbly. No hand towel. One tiny thin pillow per person. Asked reception for another told yes no problem but no pillow appeared. Bathroom window locked shut. Air con broken. Hotel also had very peculiar stinky smell. Glad we were barely in the room and just literally needed a bed for the night
Got a very small room, otherwise very nice hotel with a gym and Chaiiwala attached, strong wifi signal which covers the hotel and both outside facilities
The staff was super helpful. When I hadn’t slept in 20 hours and needed to check in early the desk clerk didn’t flinch even though it was still 30 minutes from early check in. When it became apparent that evening that the a/c was not working and it was blazing hot like a sauna in there. The clerk did not hesitate to explore every avenue, eventually moving me to a different room that was fantastic.
Only stay here if absolutely necessary.
Bad smell in the room which was similar to body odour and what looked like poo smudged on the wall beside the toilet. The room was incredibly small with no wadrobe to hang up clothes in.
Met our needs
It does what it says on the tin - had what we needed
Very local Linked to restaurant and gym
The room was clean and the hotel was well organized. There is not many food options around though. Only an Indian place in the lobby. The hotel has lots of transportation options with the Tube, buses and overground all a 5 minute walk. Other than that, totally recommend!
Good basic room/not a bad location
Mine was a pure "bed for the night" stay. Easy to get to - tube station was a quick 4 minute walk away. Despite looking over Kilburn High Road the room was quiet. Was clean - despite being fully functional (good shower), the bathroom could have done with some TLC (sink tap was loose/shower door was not connected properly). But I would stay there again.
Ok but noisy (the next door restaurant that actually used to be the hotel’s dining room is now occupied by a noisy crowd). This was an unfortunate move.
Great place to stay
Location was convenient to public transportation. Room was in the basement which was okay. Wifi was on and off.
Brilliant
Loved it
Convenient & comfortable
Nice room with modern furniture in a good location with an incredible shower. The hotel has nearby access to the Bakerloo line & 2 stops on different branches of the Overground. However, the TV signal is so bad that my room only had about 5 channels and the wardrobe is weirdly high so short people will have trouble using it.
Matrise
Nice hotel, v friendly manager and helpful !
Lovely hotel at reasonable price. Excellent reception service.
Can’t even store luggage temporarily at check out
Having stayed here several times before it’s really disappointing that the hotel will no longer store your luggage on check out whilst you kill time until your journey. I will now have to carry mine around London for many hours. I won’t be staying here again.
So cool
Very good and beautiful hotel
Our room was very small. For a double room, 2 people could hardly move around. When using the sink, after I pressed the plug, the shower starting making an odd noise… only to find out that hair and dirt was coming out of the shower drain. There was no where to even hang any items of clothing up so having to live out of a suit case for a few days was not great. Room was averagely clean. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth the money we paid, especially when the hotel is supposed to be a 4 star.
I am a very avid traveller and love budget hotels for reasonable prices - I would never stay at this hotel again. 1st room was dirty, broken shower, no wifi and rotting floor under the carpet. Once they couldn’t fix the bath, they moved me to a larger room, the noise was unreal, zero sound proofing. And to top it off at 1230am, the fire alarm sounded and the management was very unskilled as we all waited in lobby. 0/10 on everything. When I had to leave for the airport at 3AM the front desk informed me, they do not call taxis…Definitely book elsewhere.
No words...
Still, kind manager, fine room condition, good room service and most important, the worst reception service.
Worst service I have met
As an old hotel, the rooms were not too shabby, but usable. Sometimes we heard the talkings from other rooms clearly. That is tolerable, because we knew this is not an expensive stay. An elder manager here was kind and willing to help. However, the reception ladies(most time you may meet), about 3 I have met in these few days, are all with bad attitude. For example ,when I asked for a room changing, they let me sat at the reception and waited there for nearly 2 hours, while they promised me with an hour maximum. During the waiting time, about 5 people had been served, so I can tell they were not lack of staffs. Other time they just spoke to each other, laughed and played their smart phones. When I finnally couldn't bear, I asked for a reason. The young reception lady said it was my business arrogantly and even refused for an apology. After my angry speaking, they set my room up within 1 minute. Ironically? If you think this just happens accidentally, because you may not meet these staff. Unfortunately I have to tell you that you are wrong. I have lived here for a few times(because its location is near my friend's house), everytime they made me angry and they are different guys. I have lived so many kinds of hotel, the staff's attitude here is the worst. Even motel have better service. So if you have choice, and care about the service, don't pick this place.
I stayed here for 1 night for the queens funeral The door to my room was broken 5 times the receptionist had to re program the door to let me in , there was no hot water and the light didn’t work in the bathroom and concidering the room had no windows you couldn’t see a thing and i left my ipods in the room to call the hotel the nxt day to be told any property like that is thrown in the trash what an absolute disgrace you should be ashamed of yourselves for disregarding people property like that
Ok but not 4*
Bathroom very clean but never a four star as advertised.
Decent for a night or two
Staff were polite, room was clean and tidy, very large and comfortable bed, only gripes are the fact that checkout time has been changed from 12 to 11 and that free breakfast is not being served due to the restaurant being refurbished.
Great!
It was amazing, the room is a little bit small but have everything you need, for us was perfect and very close to buses and metro station. I will definitely book here again
Reception very helpful, I needed help and readily received it
Staff couldn’t do enough for you. Quiet comfortable rooms near to where we needed to be. Will be returning
Small but comfortable room
Very small room in decent condition. Safe and refrigerator did not work. Air conditioner worked great. Good price for London and walkable to everything you need including two transport stations. Hallway smelled like mildew. No tv remote.
Great location Friendly snd helpful staff Our room had a damp smell which wasnt great
Uncomfortable stay
Air conditioning not working in room, windows do not open in the hotel. It was very warm so had to request a Fan which we did get. Struggled to find parking in Kilburn as alot if parking is permit parking the only multi storey garage was closed at the weekend. Managed to get free parking in Coventry street 2 streets down from the Hotel.
Maitrise Hotel Maida Vale | Hotel in London | Travala.com
There was an ongoing smell of drains in the room and clear signs of mould inside the wardrobe
