The building is not really manteined. With a small effort they can present the hotel much better. Finding a place to the beach is a race: not exactly what you expect to relax. The walls between the room seems to be made of paper: we didn't have luck, so basically we cannot really sleep until really really late at night despite we let them know in a gentle and also a rude way. The staff was nice, but in general this hotel worths less than half of what we payed. Never be there again and I will try to avoid also expedia: presentation of the hotel was fake: this is a 3 star hotel... to be generous... Good luck for your business, you really need it.
Everything is very good including food, service, and staff and staff even played soccer with my kids. So over all I think it is 5 star.
The very best experience the best of the best will be back!!!!!
Great
Great property 5 stars!
Safe & Friendly!
Sea facing pools
Good property. Restaurants don’t need reservations which makes it hard to find a table.
Great experience, we will return
Short drive from the airport but a bit of a distance from shopping centers aside from what was on the resort. Staff was friendly and helpful and the resort felt safe. The only issue we had was the room temperature control didn’t work well so it was quite cold in our room
the room is very old
The best resort 👌
selection of restaurants was wonderful.
My only complaint is that the restaurants outside of the Japanese restaurant are first come first serve which is not convenient for a group of 6, however the buffet was really good! Perhaps if they would take reservations on the day, that would be more convenient, even if they don't allow reservations in advance.
The pool and beach were beautiful! The selection of food and drinks was plentiful. The Cafe coffee drinks were delicious but the food wasn’t as tasty as I had hoped. I can be a picky eater and some of the meat creeped me out. The desserts looked gorgeous with a huge selection but they tasted bland. The facilities were nice! I would recommend this resort to others.
I’m so happy to share this review because, honestly, finding the right resort was tough—there were so many negative reviews out there that made the search overwhelming. I had a set budget but still wanted a nice all-inclusive experience, and I’m so glad I found this one! One of the biggest highlights for me was definitely the staff. Everyone was incredibly kind, hardworking, and always had a smile on their face. I was truly impressed by the warm, charismatic energy of the Mexican people. It was also amazing to learn more about their culture through the nightly shows during my 5-night stay. I want to give a special thank you to a few team members who went above and beyond: • Manuel from the buffet restaurant • Chef Daniel • Solange, our housekeeper • Marisol from the beach restaurant • Aldo at the pool bar There were so many options for food, drinks, and entertainment—we had a blast! I would absolutely return. And if you’re like me—someone who values good service but isn’t overly picky, I definitely recommend this resort. The entire time I was there, I kept wondering what kind of experience the people who left bad reviews had, because my partner and I truly felt blessed.
VERY BEAUTIFUL RESORT.
This property being all inclusive has everything. There are activities within the property all day long. They have good selection of food at the buffet along with other restaurants that cater to specific cuisine. I would recommend going to Iberostar Selection Cancun because of our positive experience. They also have excursions station so you can plan to do stuff outside the hotel for a fee. The only concern we have in this hotel is that on our first two days, the bathroom lights in our room shuts off automatically at certain time leaving you in the dark while inside the bathroom. Most likely attributing to energy savings. On our third day, our concern was resolved.
Everything was amazing !!
Everything was fabulous. I have been here many, many times. Front office could do better to explain reservation policies and need for special event signups. We were lucky to be taken care of by José, from Guest Services, and he made up for any possible shortcomings. Restaurants were decent. Some better, one worse. The best was the daily-changing buffet which we enjoyed surprisingly more than the various a la carte restaurants. Room was great, housekeeping very dedicated and caring, Beach was magnificent as always. Only thing are the hot tubs. Those are a welcomed alternative on a colder day, and that backfires, when they are only like warm… I suggest to remove them. Insight dive base, managed by Dressel Divers was closed during the entire stay. Nobody at the hotel could answer why. Hours of operations posted and obviously not followed. That was really upsetting, as diving was the purpose of the trip. Ended up at Aqua World. Not a fan, as way too commercial, but it worked out fine and was surprisingly well. Our gain, Dressel’s loss. I just think that the hotel should be on top of this, have details and otherwise kick them out of their property. Amazing stay and will be back soon. Thank you.
Quiet, For most part this was a good stay. Most of personnel work hard and they are respectfull. I will not give a rour start resort thou. Rooms ware spacious but old and bathroom had no privacy. Cabinets were also aged. This resorts need a lift up to make it to four star and up. Food was ok in restaurants but the buffe let to desire and question your choice. Drinks , vary on what you get but still tasted like a resort drink.
Bette than my expection
The property is noisy nite and day. Ads tell you there are 10 swimming pools, but if you stay in the main building, you only have access to 2. One pool is used as a playground for kids and teenagers with a constant boom-boom thumping beat in the background...like what you hear at an aerobics class. Annoying. You can hear the thumping all over the property. There is no quiet area. There are several (5-6) theme restaurants available to all. The best is the Hibachi Grill. The Mexican was the worst supplying platters of tacos for dinner. The Buffet restaurant is open 18 hrs a day and is consistently good with much variety. No matter which restaurant you choose, do not order a steak as we did (too many times) as they were always tough and stringy. Poor quality. The egg omelets are tasteless even with everything cheese added. The breakfast sausages are bad and taste like nothing you have ever had. The bacon is almost pure fat. Stay away. The numerous other food offerings are generally very good, including soups. You can pig-out on good ice cream. Hamburgers are well done and tasty, better so with cheese. Coffee isnt great but plentiful. Waiter service is excellent, always helpful and friendly. The water SERVED within the complex is purified and OK to drink. Tap water is not purified. The entire property is always very clean and very well-kept. Use their recommendations re airport transfers. You will enjoy your stay at the property.
Really nice and capable staff. Very attentive even the chefs will come ask how everything is. Really enormous beautiful infinity pool looking out over the Caribbean waters. Hope to return!
We have a very nice vacation my wife and I. We stayed at one of their Villas. We had a few minor issues like the tv but the staff was there in 15 mins to fix them. Norma was really nice the manager and helped us out with dinner reservations and tge spa. We have been there 2 times and enjiyed it very much. Rick
The first room was on satisfactory, we changed the room the next day to an ocean facing with a balcony. Why the bathroom door does not have a lock is beyond me. The beach is good. Even if you don't book a chair in the morning, you are likely to find one or two unless it is peak season. Compared to two other all-inclusive resorts I have stayed in the past, the front desk is actually helpful. Specifically Bernardo. Don't know about others. Food in the buffet is nice. The steakhouse was good with one caveat. The meat was cooked much less, so we went back the next day and asked for a well done steak. This was excellent and cooked to medium well. It is all inclusive, no crazy wait times and no reservation. We were able to walk in. Same with the Italian restaurant. No crazy wait times. The cocktails are underwhelming, Margaritas were disappointing everywhere. So I stuck to champagne. The coffee shop serves excellent coffee, but you have to specify what you want. Otherwise they get confused and serve something totally different. The beach is very nice and clean. The people are super friendly. The property is not humongous and does not exhaust you while walking around. You can get from the room to the beach without walking for 2 miles. The jewelry gift shop is a bit crazy, steer away from there for sure. The Expedia MTR shuttle is horrible. More than one hour wait. We took an uber back for $13 to airport
Although it’s an old resort, it is overall well-maintained and very clean because there is no seaweed on the beach. One downside is that the à la carte restaurants don’t take reservations—they operate on a first-come, first-served basis. If you don’t get there by 5, you’ll have to wait over an hour. It would be better if they accepted reservations like other resorts. We found waiting over an hour each time extremely inconvenient, so we ended up having dinner at the buffet almost every time.
Overall, we enjoyed a lovely 5 days at this property. The staff was very friendly, warm and accommodating. We booked a master suite and enjoyed the extra space and beautiful terrace. The resort seemed busy but we were able to find desirable chairs at the pool even at 9am. The buffet is nice for breakfast and also serves lunch and dinner. The Mexican restaurant only offers a “platter” for dinner which is essentially a charcuterie board of Mexican foods. You cannot make reservations at any of the restaurants (except the Japanese one) so I would imagine many people dine mostly at the buffet. The steakhouse and the Italian restaurant offered the best choices; however, the spaces were small and could not accommodate many diners at once. The pools were nice though there are really only 3 main pools plus a children’s area. The beach is beautiful but you will not be able to swim in the ocean as there are large rocks along the shore. The activity staff is engaging and provide options for entertainment throughout the day. The evening entertainment is loud and two nights, it was very late until things quieted down. We would return mostly because of the staff and room type.
Excellent service, pool/beach, and rooms!
Our 5 day/4 night stay was perfect! Fantastic service (Thanks Alessandro, Michele and Jossi!!! You all were so helpful and brought such positive vibes). Our Oceanfront Suite was absolutely stunning and when we realized the jacuzzi on the patio wasn’t working they went above and beyond and switched us to the rooftop suite in there adults only coral side. This was above and beyond and they truly made the experience so wonderful! Food was great (better on the Coral side buffet) would suggest getting a reservation for the hibachi restaurant it was a great time. Italian is worth it, steak was ok but not as good as we hoped. Their pool/beach area is incredible. Suggest calling ahead of your stay to get a day bed if you want one as they sold out due to a large group staying the same week as us. Overall 9/10 awesome experience and we may go back again next year vs switching to another resort!
Very poor conditions on resort of keep the entire pole needs to be replastered really hard on your feet and not comfortable plenty of missing tiles and bears he meant showing really showing lack of care. Truly lack of activities and entertainment coordination the entire resort goes dead after 8 PM. Lack of nighttime service was terrible. No way in the world I’d be going back to this hotel.
The hotel was ok but the view and premises were excellent. Not 5 star, maybe it was 15 years ago. The food was just ok as well. I'm not be spoiled or anything, it was just ok.
The place was clean and the staff were extremely nice.
good
O
Been to Cancun a dozen times and always enjoyed the all inclusive Hotels. Some were great, most were very good. This Iberostar Selection Hotel was terrible. Very busy, noisy, and they were painting near our room so it smelled bad for the first day. The elevators took forever, were always crowded and really slow. Frustrating to wait for a spot all the time. Poor English speakers among most of the staff here. This would be ok overall since it is Mexico, but no one seemed to know anything about basic stuff at the hotel. No availability at the restaurants which do not take reservations (except the Japanese restaurant). We were stuck eating at the buffet every night except for one night when I complained and went to management and they "fit" us in the schedule after wrangling with them. The restaurants were always full. So sorry. Buffet was stale, with mostly all the same choices every day and poorly restocked. Ceviche was empty every time I went for some, no salsa or other standard Mexican stuff and the Guacamole was from a mix and not real! As a matter of fact, most of the food seemed like processed stuff like powdered milk, instant mashed potatoes and so forth like you would get at a Motel 6. No real fresh juices, just watered down powdered drinks and soda machines. Basically, the food sucked. The beach has huge rocks at this location and you CANNOT swim at this hotel. You have to walk down the beach to a sandbar where there are no big rocks. I can not recommend this location!!
Great food, service was a bit uneven. The lobby bar is the only one with top shelf liquor. Our shower bathroom had other guests’ hair on the floor after cleaning.
We went as a family of 10 to enjoy Christmas together in Cancun. The facilities are pretty dated but we really like all the pools. The buffet was okay, had many options but a lot of the food wasn’t hot (usual buffet problem). The restaurants had great food but we had some issues getting seated the first night because only the hibachi restaurant takes reservations. That was extremely frustrating and we ended up at the buffet for dinner.
Amazing time!
Everything was just perfect!
Just back from spending Christmas at the Iberostar Cancun. I have not one negative thing to say about this resort. Our room was kept spotless by housekeeping, the coffee is great, big pool, gorgeous beach, though the sea was a little rough when we were there, good food, good drinks, especially in the lobby bar, and smiling faces of the staff everywhere you look! I have never seen a spread like Chef Daniel and his culinary team put on for XMas eve, even at a Four Seasons - so much delicious seafood! And on XMas day, Chef Fernando made the best paella I have eaten in my life by the pool, and Santa arrived by helicopter, which was super cool! We arranged our airport transfers through the hotel, with W2M, and it was all very smooth and easy. Big shout out to Lili by the pool, so attentive and friendly. And the biggest shout-out to Jose in Customer Service. This guy is a star, so helpful, and smiling and friendly. Go Jose go, you are going to have a great career as a hotelier!
Great for a family vacation
This was an amazing experience. If you have children and there's an iberostar available, don't even consider anything else. The kid's club is unparalleled and the amenities for the children are the best. I also greatly enjoyed this spa, which is very reasonably priced. Marisol and the staff of the buffet went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied.
This is a great reaort to stay at and enjoy vacations near the beach. With private access to the beach, multiple pools, drinks and eats at your finger tips, you really don't wnat anything more! The ataff are super friendly and professional. They don't expect tipping at all but will gladly accept that if you leave it. The area is cleaned continuously and most places are neat. The only downside in my opinion are the public washrooms around the resort that are not maintained in a clean condition at all times.
Adtian and Francesco made the daily entertainment! Super friendly and wanting everyone involved! Luis at the steakhouse was so funny as well Christmas Eve buffet was to die for
We had a good experience with the rooms being cleaned regularly and many attentive staff members. However our check in process was very slow due to a technology issue and we had booked this trip over 6 months in advance for 2 rooms and had to be on different floors. Also this was more of an Expedia problem but our flight was moved to the following day and we lost a day at the resort and did not receive a refund.
Our stay was great we will definitely go back to Iberostar
Great stay, great people but had multiple issues with A/C not cooling enough, had them come out multiple times and they could not get it to cool down past 80 degrees F. Plus, I booked a king size bed and was given a double bed room, was told to stay in that room a night or two and then could be moved later. When traveling with a pregnant wife and 2 year old the last thing I want to do is be moving around so decided to stay in that room.
Second time at this resort. Friendly staff, great variety of food and of course the fabulous beach.
Staff was friendly. Love their pools and easy access to beach area.
mostly all was good. we were unfortunate to experience bad weather to fully enjoy the resort, however the staff/maintenance could have at least warmed up the pool and have working hot tubs. they were freezing, we just stayed in our room on a windy cloudy day. property is nice too walk around, the staff was also nice and professional. the room was great. the bed the shower and views were amazing. also very clean property. food slightly below average. they need to take the Mexican restaurant seriously. the hibachi was fun. some staff members tried to sell drugs which was disappointing and possibly unsafe. I would choose this resort again though.
Service was outstanding. The whole staff is eager to help
The staff was all very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed all the food, however we did not try the American Bistro. They are doing updates on the rooms. We had an ocean view with the balcony and enjoyed sitting there relaxing. You do want to get a lounger early, as they fill up fast. We spent most of our time on the beach.
this is the best hotel resort I've been
It’s a great experience with wonderful amenities & service.
The property is neat and clean with many attractions. Infinity pool with breathtaking ocean view and food in La harmo Italian restaurant are at the top of the list among other incredible things we enjoyed! Catamaran trip to Isla Mujeres was another highlight!
XXX
Very good pool and clean beach and good service
Variety of food options.
I think this property shiuld be lowered to a 4 star property
We had a really good experience here! The beach and property is beautiful! Check in was quick and easy and we were thankful our room was ready after a long travel day! We got an ocean view room and it was well worth it! The property is a little outdated but that didn't affect our experience. The food and drink options were great, we never went hungry or thirsty! Our concierge Alessandro was great! He attended to us daily! The only things I would say needs improvement would be the "no reservation" policy, since it is good and bad at the same time but I think there should be a back up policy when trying to contact the guest when the table is ready and the jacuzzi definitely needs to be changed since we have seen better at other resorts. We personally loved the Italian restaurant the best but the buffet was delicious as well! The staff was always kind and helpful! I would reccommend this property to friends and family. We miss the beautiful weather and hope to be back soon!
Food was ok. Resort is beautiful. Had a steak & Italian restaurant which was first come, first serve, by the time they opened the waiting line was already booked. Ate buffet food for dinner 5 days.
This property had great restaurants with excellent food. The Naga Hibachi was great, our chef was interactive, and gave us so much food. The steak restaurant was excellent and cooked perfectly. The buffet had a lot of options, somewhat bland for myaste, but good. The wait staff was hit or miss, from being ignored to well taken care of. The bar staff was hit or miss as well. We went from being ignored ( not busy at all ) to having excellent drinks with staff that remembered us and knew exactly what we wanted. The cleaning staff was also intermittent, from roses on the bed and a perfectly clean room, to no clean towels, bed made with dirty sheets, and empty water bottles. A shower that leaked and mold at corners in the wall and some of the grout in-between the tiles. Also empty glasses, dirty plates, etc.. lined the halls by the doors for full days. Gross The front desk was excellent very helpful. Overall OK, we have been to other resorts so we have expectations ( not excessive by any means ), but just consistency throughout seemed lacking
I’ve been coming to this resort a few times and have seen the decline in both service and experience. I had an early arrival (around 9am) to the resort and was told at check in that the room isn’t ready and would be ready at 3pm. Well, that time rolls around and the room isn’t ready. I wanted to speak to upper management and was told to come back in 40 minutes and the room would be ready. Once in the room, I only saw more issues. The first one would be that the door would not lock and we actually had a young child. Leave the room without our knowledge and had to contact security. Fortunately, the ordeal was over in about five minutes, but the lack of maintenance on the room is extremely concerning. We also had a lot of condensation with our AC unit and had another young child slip on the puddle of water and hit their head on the ground. The third concern would be in regards to water entering the room when there is rain and high winds occuring. The room had water about 1 foot from the balcony into the room, which resulted in another child slipping. We were given the option of switching to another room that was considered an upgrade, but had significantly less storage space which was a priority with four individuals sharing a room, so we weren’t able to take the upgrade. We never had upper management reach out to us in regards to the child going missing or to even address or many other small concerns that haven’t been listed here. We definitely won’t be returning.
We had a great summer vacation here. We stayed at the Hilton and hard rock earlier but the staff in Iberostar are so humble and amazing. The nightly entertainment shouldn’t be missed. Food is alright but Hardrock and Hilton are better. They should have a few more restaurants. The Italian, Mexican and the steakhouse were out favorite. Breakfast is amazing and I really was fond of the elderly gentleman who was at the omelette station. Omelets are stunning. The walks on the white sand beach are amazing. We got a slightly upgraded room but while we had a view of ocean from the balcony we couldn’t see the pools and the property. My family loved the ocean view and at night you can spend a lot of time listening to the waves crashing at the beach a few steps away from you. We booked all our excursions (Tulúm,chichen izza, isla mujeres) through the travel desk in the hotel ( Christina from W2M) and all trips were fantastic with great guides. Overall we felt heavy leaving Iberostar. This is now one place we would live to go back to.
It was great in some aspects, but lacking in others. Rooms were clean but room service is slow. Depending on when you go to eat at the buffet, the servers can be overwhelmed with the number of customers and you will have to wait for a while before getting served. Pools are nice, bur they can be cold and The outside Jacuzzi is not warm
Everything
I liked everything but they should keep the BAR and Karaoke till at least 3-4am
Clean safe
reunion
We had a large family reunion. Everything was awesome.
The food options were not the best with some pre set menus. Lack of seafood options to order at restaurants
Service was excellent.
We were there during low occupancy, like having the place to ourselves.
Everything was great from the room to the food! We loved the buffet! I am not a big drinker. However, when I had mixed drinks they were unsatisfactory. Even when I asked for double shots I could barely taste the liquor. I had to ask the bartenders to pour a second shot in front of me to ensure they were adding it. Not a big deal though.. We mostly stuck to beer and took our own as well as they only carry Dos XX.
At check in and check out station the staff unprofessional, when it busy they just serving whoever they know or speak by their language otherwise you just stand there no one calls you
The property was very clean and smelt very good. The property was not giving luxury however was a good experience for a all inclusive. The food was not my favorite can be improved.
The staff at this resort was great. Housekeeping, room service, hosts/hostess to very attentive wait staff. Around the pool (coral), Saby was pool side server many days for us, she is awesome. Excellent activity pool side team (Edgar, Alex, Adrian) at coral… make it fun
Lost count of how many times I’ve stayed at Iberostar Cancun - absolutely love the resort ! Great ocean view with a balcony , good food , amazing beach property . Hardworking and friendly staff . Teresita is an absolute star serving drinks on the beach - the friendliest person u meet . Luis took great care of me for most meals . Always a great stay !
Good product and good price
This place is amazing . Staff is what makes this place great . Everyone is so nice . They make you feel like you are at home . I love the hospitality. The amenities and all inclusive is awesome .
Good
Excellent customer service overall. Fernanda from front desk to luggage service at the end was excellent. Thank you
We are extremely happy that we chose this place to stay on our vacation. The pools are beautiful. The beach is wonderful. The hotel itself had many dining options. The food was very good quality. We were never tired of the food. The staff did a very good job of doing everything to make our stay comfortable. The rooms are super clean, beds are comfortable. The grounds are beautiful! We would definitely stay here again!
Worth every cent. Very good beachfront view and excellent customer service.
Property, beach and drinks good . But the food is horrible 😣
It was so much fun. Pools were clean and sparkling. Staff was super friendly.
.
The entertainment team at Iberostar was really great. We had a great time during our stay. The restaurants, including the buffet were really good with a variety of food and options for everyone. The staff in the buffet were really great as well. The check in process was ok, but we had to wait 1 additional hour for our rooms to be ready. Then, it took an additional hour for our bags to get delivered, I had to call a few times to inquire about the bags. We also had issues at checkout. Other than getting our rooms and bags , everything else was really great.
lovely
Todo
The hotel looks like it was in full splendor in the ’60s. The buildings look like they need more care. It is a big property. The staff, in general, are lovely; they always care for the details. They are friendly and polite. We must mention Kenya, who was very courteous, at the beach all days we were there. The beach location is spectacular.
Excellent hotel, We will come back again!
I have been to at least 10 resorts in Cancun prior to this and let me tell you, this was the worst resorts of all. First when you enter the resort, no welcome drinks, not absolutely necessary but in case of this resort the lobby is so hot that would be a good to have. Staff at the lobby was ok, not the most welcoming. After the checkin they want you to reserve one and only one restaurant (Japanese). The rest are first come and you have to come daily at 5 and put your name on the list or wait 2-3 hrs for any restaurant. At the same time you book Japanese restaurant they will try to lure into their sales presentation. Please don’t fall for it, but to each their own. The bus boys were good and helped with luggage and ride to villas. We requested ground floor as they don’t have elevators and with kids to carry them up and down is pain, but that request didn’t go through. They said the next day we might get one but that too with one king bed. So not very ideal with small kids. Next was the ordeal with the key cards. Didn’t work for first 4 out of 6 days we stayed. I had to change keycards at least 3 times and 2 of those was at 10 pm where you have to walk from the villas to the lobby which is not near by any means and pretty dark. The kids pool and club which was our main selling point was not good. Photos dont give reality and don’t fall for it. Room service was good. Food came in decent time. Food though not the greatest but at least came on time. Their coffee shop was good.
The pros: good amount of F&B choices for being an all inclusive hotel. The cons: old property, room’s amenity is outdated, room isn’t that clean(you can find stains here and there on bedsheet, etc) and overall hotel staffs’ service/professionalism are lacking
I would like to recognize Yoania and Daniel for their professionalism in providing us with their attention and service, which were exceptional, and to all the staff.
nice!!
I was expecting the same quality of food as I experienced in Iberostar Punta de Mita, however this was extremely disappointing. I cannot say anything positive about the dinning. Unfortunately we were not able to experience three of the restaurants on the property because they're seating system needs improvement. It was noticeable how understaffed they were in the restaurants. They had plenty of reps in consThe staff on hand appeared overworked.
Activities it’s always something to do
I like the quietness and not too crowded. I wouldn't say I enjoyed the A/C was broken for two days, both rooms and lobby felt hot and humid. the food quality could be improved
Enjoyed our stay. Fernando, the concierge was excellent, Luis & Manuel in the buffet provided excellent service, and Isabel did a great job keeping our room clean. Not a lot of night events but good for short getaway for family

Great family property, multiple food options and everything is low key
