Great location beautiful property

New Year’s eve trip
Check in was terrible. We were not notified our room was ready until after 6 pm after checking in with the concierge 3x. But on a positive note Arron Culver stepped up and took care of us! He got us drinks and helped us to our room and took extra care of us at the pool. Was hoping for a New Year Eve activity for the kids but they didn’t have one. Rock wall & Playground & Camp Hyatt were not functioning. So disappointed because when we made our reservation these amenities were listed. But Nikki from activities stepped up and brought some fun crafts for my kids to do when they were taking a break from the pool, Breakfast was wonderful!! And I needed milk for my toddlers at night & the restaurant happily filled their bottles with milk!! Overall we had a great stay! Rooms were gorgeous!
Property was very clean and the staff was excellent
This resort is absolutely beautiful. We loved everything about our stay here! The pools, updated design, staff, view, and spa were all wonderful. Definitely feels like a luxury resort!
This will be a beautiful property when its finished. Unfortunately, it was still under construction when we visited so there were very limited dining and bar options. Large common areas in the lobby, grounds, and restaurants were off limits. Super disappointing. We really enjoyed the spa and the pools.
Lovely grounds, phenomenal service
Recently updated, this (now) Grand Hyatt was terrific. Even at full capacity it never felt crazy busy - lots of room at the pools. They were on tail end of a long reno so some food outlets not open. Rooms were big, clean and sunny. Nice Balmain products for those into amenities. Pools are great and kids will love the water slide. Food is good (menus are slightly limited vs something like JW or Fairmont). Service is AMAZING. From the poolside staff to front desk to valet, every single person was friendly and helpful. Best I’ve ever seen, including 5 stars (this is more 4 star).
This property is amazing!
It was gorgeous.
Loved the pools. Beautiful surroundings.
Mommy and me trip
We arrived and got the wrong room, the hotel blames it on hotels.com and hotel.com did nothing to accommodate. I will never use both again.
Property going under a remodel. There were workers in the hallways at 6:00 am working and making noise. Restaurants were not open under going remodel It was the worst experience I would like compensation for this stay
Under construction
This property was under construction, and we were not informed. In the profile for the reservation, it stated there were four restaurants at this hotel. There was only one open during our entire stay. The elevators were dirty from construction. With the construction workers using them. The floors were dirty. The spa pool and the pond were green with algae. It was horrible I got bit by a bug at the spa pool. No live entertainment as they’ve had in the past. This trip was not what I paid for or expected. I feel you (Hotels.com) and the hotel Hyatt should have been upfront. I feel Hyatt was negligent for withholding this information for not Informing their guest of there construction. And notifying 3rd party rentals of what condition the hotel was in. I tried to upload photo it would not let me. You can send a link and I can send them.
Costruction starting at 5:30 am. Not good!
When the renovation is done I am sure it will be lovely. That being said, it is undergoing MAJOR renovation. They really should at least alert guests through email when they book. The pool area and rooms are mostly done, but the rest of the hotel looks like a construction zone. At the very least give a credit, or rooms should be steeply discounted. I almost booked JW Desert Ridge since the prices were basically the same, but Hyatt was closer to my plans. Wishing now I would have just booked JW. It should however be noted that all of the staff was wonderful! It must be difficult for them to do their jobs in a construction zone.
Dont go until renovations are complete
The property was under construction which was more of an inconvenience than we thought it would be. Lots of noise, smells, and detours. No real place to eat on site, that wasn't a meeting room. The staff by the pool was fun. I didn’t expect with the room being 400 a night still that the resort would be so inferior ambiance wise from what it normally is.
It was no surprise that stay at a hotel under construction would be a challenge. A little more than expected. Basically guest room was wonderful and the pool. This was my primary reason for the stay. You are welcomed by a desk in the lobby and plywood construction walls everywhere. Travel was challenging, go to elevator 1 to 4 floor, then find a long hall in a maze of halls to elevator 2 to go to your room or lobby. After 4 days I started to remember the route. I did not experience a lot of noise, as they just ended the jack hammer stage. This is major Construction, by my observation look at mid November before everything is complete. Room for improvement is signage for canyon market, sign on inside of tinted glass you can see in day time and in a strange location. I did not know until the 4 day they had a sit down Resturant. Same issue no sign. What Hyatt did right, most maids, front desk super nice. Super helpful saved my wife when in evening went to pick up a pizza elevator took her to a construction area and she was lost in total darkness at night. Thank goodness she called from desk and the manage on duty rescued her poor pizzas guy waited 20 minutes for her to get to him. Exceptional employees Aaron at the pool wonderful personally and I going to assume Indian/ Hispanic lady at Canyon Cafe Monday-Wednesday was absolutely wonderful. These 2 people make a difference and made a bad situation a lot better. Hyatt they both deserve a free dinner in your new Resturant
New pools are fantastic. Remodeled rooms are very nice. Renovation of lobby, restaurants and many hallways were a major inconvenience and unsightly. Basically, a nice pool with a clean room hidden on a construction site.
The staff here went above and beyond for us. This time of year is off-peak so we had the pool complex mostly to ourselves & that was amazing. The food & drinks were delicious, service was impeccable, and our room was very high end with Balmain toiletries. Very pleased!
This used to be our favorite resort in Scottsdale. Not sure we'll stay again. First, Expedia listed a room that wasn't even available, so we're chasing a refund for the extra we paid. Second, when we got there the credit card machines weren't working for incidentals, so they asked us to come back the next day, which we had every intention of doing. They called and woke us up the next morning to get credit card information the next morning, and when we didn't answer, they SENT SOMEONE TO OUR ROOM to try and get it. They left a letter asking us to cooperate with them. When we left to get brunch, we gave them a credit card to have on file, like we had intended to the whole time. The hotel is under construction, which is irritating, but will end at some point, so I try not to hold it against them. We did have to go up the elevator to the 4th floor, cross the hotel, and take a second elevator down to the 3rd floor to get to our room, which felt a little extreme, but I could look past that too. The thing that bothered me is that their renovations to "improve" the hotel have included removing all of the best parts of their pool. They used to have these amazing greek style structures and they removed them. Now the pool is only so-so instead of amazing. Our newly renovated room had a throw pillow someone had cut with a knife, and a ring on the table that housekeeping hadn't bothered cleaning. Food was overpriced for the quality. Overall just not a pleasant experience. Staff was great
The renovations was a mess
Pools was excellent for kids, but the bed was uncomfortable, kept waking up from back hurting. For and $300 night resort I figured y’all would have an nice comfortable bed
Excellent
Renovations without notification when booking.
Unfortunately this was an awful/terrible experience. The hotel was under major renovation . The hotel smelled and during this time you could hear banging nonstop, smell of paint (had major headaches my entire stay). Guests were coughing in the hallway from the construction. I felt unsafe and have no idea what chemicals my family breathed in during our stay. We couldn’t get to our room multiple times because they would shutdown the elevator and staircase. Couldn’t even bring the car upfront to unload and reload our luggage. There was. Not restaurant, lobby, main bar, gift shop, areas to sit and relax. This hotel should have been “not in service” It was such a bad experience and this is a shame you would subject a family on vacation in this manner. We travel often for my husband job and this was beyond disappointing. I have autoimmune disease and severe asthma unfortunately and this hotel was not idea for my already health issues. This information should have been provided when booking this hotel.
Construction was inconvenient. Elevators were down. The hotel was extremely noisy with Children
Expedia failed to tell us that the whole hotel was under construction elevators were not working, had to lug all of our luggage up three flights of stairs only banquet halls used as restaurants were open Thankfully pools were in working order and were awesome
Very nice
I booked this hotel based on an Instagram post I saw about the new renovated pool and all the activities they offered. I knew the property was under some construction, but this was wayyyyyyy more than the company eluded to online. The only elevator in the front wasn’t working so I hiked four flights of stairs to get to my room. The property layout was extremely confusing and the other elevator they had didn’t go to certain areas of the hotel. When the elevator was working it would jolt you when it stopped and at one point I thought I was going to be stuck in the elevator. There was no air conditioning in the elevator or on most of the floors because of all the construction. The ice machine on our floor wasn’t working also. I would not be complaining if I got a discounted rate but these were normal prices for a stay at a hotel under major construction. At the pool on a Saturday, they had cranes moving large pieces of the building in front of us, almost couldn’t hear the music. The lobby bar was a makeshift meeting room. The coffee shop was a makeshift meeting room as well and were unable to make hot lattes due to lack of equipment. I do not believe they should be allowed to have guests with this much renovation going on. I can’t imagine anyone older or with a disability being able to maneuver around the hotel with ease. God forbid there was a fire, we would’ve burned in the building trying to get out!
Had a very poor experience for my anniversary, the property is under heavy construction. It’s very loud and not relaxing. You walk into a construction zone. The hotel should be shut down until the work is complete. It is super inconvenient every time we returned to the hotel we had to walk to the opposite side to get in, take the elevator to the 4th floor walk across take a different elevator to the 3rd floor just to get to our room. The spa is closed the pool is decent, it’s not worth the headache.
Birthday Getaway
I really enjoyed this quick getaway. Staff was super nice. We all enjoyed the amenities and slept well. Would stay again.
Beautiful and heartwarming, very inviting
My review
Overall, my hotel experience was decent. On the positive side, the front desk and pool staff were fantastic and very accommodating. I really enjoyed my room, which was spacious and lovely. However, there were some drawbacks. The adult pool was quite warm, and I would have preferred a cooler temperature. Additionally, the pool bars could really benefit from having misters to help with the heat; it would make a significant difference. I also wish I had known that the gym and spa were closed for renovations until August, as I might have chosen to reschedule my stay. I faced issues with room service; I tried calling multiple times to order food but received no response, which forced me to eat out during most of my visit. Lastly, the construction noise, especially at 6:30 a.m., was quite bothersome. I would have appreciated being able to sleep in a bit longer. If you're considering booking during the construction period, be aware that the spa and gym will be closed, and there is a lot of ongoing work.
We LOVE this hotel BUT it is currently very, very under construction. As of July 2024, the ENTIRE lobby is under construction and completely closed. You have to check in at a make shift lobby, then go up an elevator, over and to another elevator and down to get to the pool. The restaurants are closed and they have one makeshift one in the ballroom area, and a very minimal convenience store. The Jack hammering is loud and impossible not to hear from your room. The wonderful staff did everything they could to make up for it and their attitude and kindness was so impressive given the disruption they have to face. I hope Hyatt is giving them a beach vacation at their property when this is over. I don’t know how the staff is living with it. So if you stay, know that you’re getting pretty much just the pool experience and you’ll lacking any other hotel amenities. They said it should be done by winter 2024.
No cool deck?
There was no mention of the construction when booking the rooms. The directional signs were bad, I got lost several times and the hallway to the pool was scary for a single woman to navigate. The pool deck has no cool decking, which in Arizona is ridiculous.
Loved the pool and waterslide beach area. Bed was very comfortable and very clean - and products to use from lotion to hair products were fabulous. Under construction was noisy at times- do not suggest to have a room by an ice machine was noisy up to midnight and early morning.
Disappointment during renovation
It was under a major renovation and we were not made aware during the reservation process. It was was nothing like it used to be. Very disappointing. There was a makeshift bar in some obscure dingy room. Not the experience we imagined for a birthday stay. We did however enjoy the pool and service there.
Terrible experience
The maze to get to your room during this construction period is insane and the “fro t desk” associates absolutely don’t explain directions clearly enough to navigate. They need to print out maps and walk through the steps. Everyone is walking around completely lost. The halls to find your room also don’t have air conditioning, in the middle of July! By the time you find your room or figure out how to get back to the lobby, you’re hanging on by a thread from heat stroke. Terrible experience sadly.
The property was under renovation which we knew when we booked. The staff was amazing! We were there for our anniversary and they provided us free wine at check-in along with a complimentary drink coupon to use at the pool the next day. Really top notch!! The room was clean, but it was a little bit of walk even after the elevator, mostly due to where the renovation was taking place. Once in the room it was clean and quite. The AC worked but it didn't feel like we could get the room below 70 degrees, which wasn't terrible, just something we noticed. There were some fruit flies that were in our our room and it seemed like once we dispatched on another would appear. We spent a bit of time at the pools and there was plenty of space. The pools are amazing, we plan to bring our kids back just so they can enjoy their great pools. Post renovation this place is going to be back to its amazing self with an updated look. Worth the stay!!
Construction - little to no amenities
The majority of the hotel was under construction. Staff was nice, but the amenities and hotel were subpar. The nightly rate should have been heavily discounted.
This property has a lot of character. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was exquisite. Definitely recommended others that are visiting AZ to come stay here. It’s close to the aquarium and other attractions and only 8 min driving distance from fashion square mall.
Kid friendly We had a nice stay. Although we had a little bug issue in the room. Everyone had fun and enjoyed the resort.
Na
Absolutely love this home away from home. Every staff member has always been so nice and welcoming! The property is ridiculously clean and well maintained.
Excellent! Under construction but room was very clean and the staff was great
Good job
Good experience but keep being remodeled
Grew up in the area and went here as a child. Never stayed in the resort until now going back from a visit. We thankfully were there over the weekend because as we checked out on Monday construction was going on and thankfully it wasn’t during the weekend. The pool area was fantastic. Lots of different options. We were given an updated room which faced the entry courtyard. It was nice and quiet. Though I couldn’t say very private as it faced the other rooms on the other side. The room had some common sense issues though. Whoever designed it was either a man or lacked any logic. There were no towel hooks near the bathtub/shower. There was a partition wall for the toilet with towel bars there but you had to step out of the tub and walk a few steps. I hope management can consider making this easy fix for future guests. Would otherwise definitely recommend if the remodeling ends soon and you don’t go during the week.
👍
Gainey Ranch was a very nice and well maintained hotel. It was a bit short on places to eat in the hotel but there are many restaurants nearby. I don’t know what we did, but it seemed the pool servers were avoiding us. The would serve people around us but would walk past us without saying anything to us. It happened for the two days we were there. No worries, the bar staff were very nice.
Construction in process. Pool slide only open from 11a-5p. Waterfall by the pool is no longer there. Its a bar. Pool bars only open till 5pm. Expired complimentry water. Requested new. They gave us expired water again. Front desk/staff was nice. Would recomend. Just call ahead and verify options are in service ahead of time.
Did like the construction noisy, and problem with tv.
The walls were so thin, we could hear toilets flushing, children crying, and people talking. Also, the AC seemed to turn off at night making the room unbearably hot.
Beautiful property
The stay was absolutely amazing! The staff provided optimal service and it was extremely clean.
Great stay, really nice room with a courtyard view, very comfortable beds, nice and new bathroom fixtures. Felt like there was plenty of space to spread out a the pool- pool side servers were excellent. Look forward to returning after they've completed their renovations. All were extremely accommodating, while renovation was in progress. Could not hear any construction noise while in our room. Very considerate.
No respect for guests during construction
Under construction with no consideration to guests. Was awaken at 1 in the morning to grinding noises for half an hour. They also shut off water from 11pm to 5am and gave a measly waiver of the resort fee. not good enough. Worst experience I've ever had with a hotel. Other hotels are customer focused enough to refund to significantly reduce. May be a nice property someday far far in the future. Until then rates are greatly inflated. Stay away.
Hyatt at Gainey Ranch is a lovely property. Great location. Resort is fantastic. Love!
the construction was a pain its just not the same
Dont Stay here…
Our stay was not great! They were under construction so only 1 restaurant was open. We were at the pool for 4 hours and no one came to wait on us.
The whole property is under construction. We called months ago and asked about the status of the renovation and the expectation for during our visit. The extent of construction we were told to anticipate was misrepresented. We were told that the restaurants were going to be the only renovations at the time of the visit. In reality, it was the whole lobby and the main courtyard by the adult pool. We had the pleasure of hearing jack hammers the whole time while “relaxing” at the pool. No great.
Going through major renovation… Loud noises from 7 AM until 5:30 PM… Unacceptable
Lots of noises construction going on
Under construction/renovation but staff was awesome. Grounds/pool area was beautiful.
Pool staff was amazing
The staff were all friendly and cared. The hotel is under renovation so there is some noise (more so on the weekdays). The kids loved the slide and the wife loved the poolside service. The amenities and excellent staff make up for the noise and I’m sure the hotel will be beautiful when they are finished. We’re planning our next trip for 2025.
Beautiful property and the service was exceptional.
We enjoyed our stay, but were disappointed to find the waterslide and beach were closed for the renovation. The one pool open during our week was quite crowded, but nice, and the poolside service was excellent. We weren't notified about the events that were going on for children beforehand- came too late for the henna and braiding, and I was disappointed that we hadn't been clued in beforehand on where to find out about these things for our teens.
The property is beautiful. But the rooms where a little dated for the price. I have stayed at othwr hyatt properties for half w price with more updates rooms. However the lobby and courtyard are stunning
They play live music every night until 10-11, which is great unless you are in one of the first rooms off the stairs, it sounds like the concert is inside your room. In the mornings, the cleaning ladys are so loud, while I appreciate a made up bed everyday, they do not need to yell across the hall to each other, especially when you have a toddler who you are hoping stays asleep. Dont put your towels on a chair in the am unless you want them removed. Their rule is 1 hour, but twice they removed our towels. Worst of all, I came home with a horrible rash
Extremely clean and several activities to do at the hotel
Waiting for the remodel to complete
Hotel under construction so not a lot of areas open. Pool service was great and all servers were delightful especially Marianna. Rooms didn't have a walk in shower which was a surprise. Bed ok- not firm. The staff were all wonderful and when this is done it will be great again.
Rooms were stuffy, no ventilation. Moldy pillows.
Great looking property in a great location. Subpar food and food service Valet is trying but has a new app…it doesn’t work
Needs an uplift.
I was very disappointed with the hotel. It was in a run down condition. There seems to be construction going on in the pool area. The fountains were totally turned off. The carpets looked dirty and old, so were the showers. Too expensive for the condition it’s in.
It was good but therw should be compensation for drilling on Saturday mornings and Friday night
Very accommodating staff...easy valet parking, great bar staff and easy check in. Located very close to all scottsdale activities
Staff are wonderful! We always stay here when we are in Scottsdale. Going through a massive remodel now so not the same experience as usual but they did everything they could to make our stay great.
Overall it was a great stay, but the property was under construction.l. Staff were conscientious about letting us know and working around it, but some facilities were not available. The only time we ate at the hotel, service was very slow, as a large wedding seemed to have staff overwhelmed. Great property, great location.
So much of property under construction.
The hotel was undergoing major reconstruction. And while we were generally warned of this the management at the hotel did not clearly communicate what this entailed. We received less than 24 hours notice that all water would be unavailable for an extended period of time and no forewarning that we would be trapped and unable to leave for 1/2 hour for helicopters to drop off equipment. We almost missed our flight
The hotel is under major reconstruction. No restaurants, no pools, couldn’t get door keys when checked in. When mentioned they said Oh you booked with Expedia but if you would have booked online w Hyatt it was a note about the very limited access there. Expedia did r say Nothing about it and instead showed all the wonderful features at the hotel even though you knew it wasn’t available. Bad on Expedia not informing us. Cheap of you.
The entrance to the self parking, fix the box that’s broken. Looks really bad. Big sore eye amidst the beautiful property.
disappointed that the pool couldn't be used.
Pools. Closed. Never got no. Sleep. Loud music all. Night long. 400. Was. Ridiculous. For. This. Place not. A. Resort at all
I wish the property had stated on their direct website that they had renovations going on. I booked the hotel with the intention of using the pool and spa amenities only to find out those were closed. Truly disappointed.
Limited amenities Hotels.com would not get back to me in order to change or modify my reservation. Room was nice but it’s not about the hotel it was about the service I got from hotels.com
What a great Hotel
the hotel is being renovated but it was still fab
I was not told that pool and restaurants would be closed during our stay for renovation. It was very disappointing that we were not informed before or after checking in. One morning going for coffee shop was closed and pool was closed. Very bad communication.
Mediocre experience
Property is mediocre and price was premium. Much nicer resorts in the area for the same price point.
Just an OK experience, some amenities were nice, First Night Staff/waitress awful really set a bad tone for the night. Some Water features at Resort not working, Food / restaurants were good but the wait time and attention at breakfast was again mediocre to poor. Wouldn't book again as there are way too many options in scottsdale.
The room and location was great, but we had issues with the amenities on property. We had a bad experience as the concierge, as he lied to us and told us all three restaurants were open, when only one restaurant was in fact open. The spa was booked up completely 3.5 weeks before our reservation. We tried to use the spa facilities including the gym and were denied as hotel guests since apparently they had given away all their day passes.
Loved the pool area and the beautiful scenery
I will return!
Great family friendly environment. I will go back when I return to AZ. Very close to food and entertainment. I highly recommend.
Room ac blowing right at bed head ..room temperature not well maintained..
We love this property! There’s a beach with sand that’s great for the kids. A water slide! A pool for just adults.
Well since this is Mother’s Day weekend and we arrived at 5pm, not knowing service is done at 6pm and no lights in pool, kids running up slide, room smells Like weed, very unpleasant experience in Scottsdale

Well keeped up property!!
