The place gives you a sense of calm and peace the moment you enter. The staffs were very friendly and welcoming. The daily breakfast has plenty of choices and everything tasted great.
We had a wonderful stay. Very peaceful and an overall different experience.
Been already 3 times at the Monastery and every time it was an amazing stay! More than a hotel, it is an experience you can't miss. A quiet place full of history in every corner. Breakfast is always included and offers amazing homemade food, woth plenty of vegan options. Highly recommend!
Un endroit enchanteur
Quaint, fun and unique!
Loved staying at this very unique and different sort of accommodation! The only downsides were that our bathrooms were down the hall and shared with other guests and gentlemen and tall women might have to duck to enter the short doorway entrance to the bedroom. Breakfast was great and the staff was very helpful. Each room is decorated slightly differently, but all quaint and cozy - a fun adventure!
Wonderful property, pristine clean. I have never seen a place as shiny clean as this and I stay in places like Fairmont. The place has a calm and positive energy in it, I felt it within 2 minutes after I walked in. The kitchen has healthy good food. It is very close (like 5 to 10 minutes walk) to the tourist attractions and great restaurants. Highly recommend it.
Review: A Magical New Year’s Stay at Le Monastère des Augustines Spending New Year’s at Le Monastère des Augustines was unforgettable. The Christmas lunch setup was a highlight—elegantly decorated with festive touches and arranged to encourage mingling in a warm, social atmosphere. The rocking chairs by the windows, overlooking the snowy courtyard, were a perfect spot to relax with a coffee and take in the serene views. The courtyard itself, adorned with lights, felt like a winter wonderland, offering a tranquil space for reflection. With its peaceful ambiance, nourishing meals, and daily yoga, Le Monastère is an ideal retreat to recharge for the year ahead. Highly recommended!
Tranquil stay
Centuries of being a monastery have soaked into the walls, enveloping you in tranquility and rejuvenation the moment you step through the doors
It’s sooo relaxing and peaceful. I will be back!
It felt so peaceful. I loved the silent breakfast.
Amazing property and staff. You’re basically in a museum which I did not realize when booking. It’s minimalist but I personally don’t want or need anything else. You’re right in the heart of Old Quebec. Highly recommend.
This room was cold and the heating doesn’t work well, it is a calm place, the rooms doesn’t have tv, recommended for those who wants to completely disconnect
It was an interesting experience, you will enter a very silent environment, it is so calm that it will be a challenging experience to go to the bathroom at night without making noise when opening and closing doors! It is definitely a retreat experience!
Perfect in every way.
Absolutly stunning. If there is one thing ... you are not supposed to talk. It would have been nice connecting with people.
History around the city. I stayed in a single room with shared bathroom..no problem..clean clean. Definitely would like come back and stay longer, was able to enjoy the sights and Christmas Market
Such a terrific place to stay in Quebec City. Everyone was so friendly and the history of the monastery is fascinating. We particularly enjoyed breakfast where there was much tranquility and such varied and delicious food.
The property was exactly as described, we stayed in an original cell room, we had a sink but had to use a shared bathroom which was a bit of a walk down the hall. Breakfast was included and there was a bit of variety each day, we were close to everything in the old city and had no problems walking to everything we had planned the museum inside the hotel was filled with beautiful artifacts in amazing displays, the staff were wonderful and spoke English
Being a monastery converted into a hotel, the experience was unique and different from usual hotels.Very clean, quiet and confortable. The looks are truly authentic but the confort is modern.
Be aware that this is an actual monastery. There is no talking allowed in the breakfast room. You must eat in the lobby to talk. There is also no maid service. You can leave your towels outside your door if you want clean ones dropped off at your door.
This hotel offers a different experience. It is not just a hotel, but a moment of reflection in your life. Everything is perfectly thought out and organized to ensure a comfortable stay and to take home good memories.
Great experience!
Great hotel concept, I enjoyed walking around and looking at the paintings and antique furniture. Excellent way to use and preserve the historic buildings. Excellent breakfast as well!
This contemplative hotel is warm, welcoming, simple and quiet. It is encouraging for an introspective visit, but also supports others for whom it is a perch in Old Quebec. In the contemporary rooms the bathrooms are very, very deep and could be awkward for a disabled person. There is no TV in the room. Kind, warm and welcoming people. This is an outstanding place to visit.
Delightful and fascinating!
Great place to unwind.
Although different from a standard hotel stay, this place was amazing. Everything about it was relaxing, and I can't wait to stay on my next visit to Quebec.
Very enjoyable, clean, great location! Just be prepared if you are driving and have never been to QC Old City that it’s very tight with lots of one way streets
I my opinion, the non speaking breakfast was a bit awkward for my husband and me. This might of been stated in the write up of this hotel, but I did not realize this request,
From the moment you walk in you are surrounded by peace and beauty. This is a special place, the staff is very helpful and the beds are amazingly comfortable. The spirit of the Augustinians helps support both a calm and strength. Be sure to take advantage of the guided walks and yoga classes as well as the breakfast (in silence) in the restaurant.
Perfect location for Old Quebec. Staff helpful. Peaceful stay - nice not to have TV noise/distraction. Liked focus on well being. Silent breakfasts encouraged mindful eating. Recommend taking guided tour of museum.
Unique property. Beautiful design. Monastery from 1649 with metal and glass lobby and restaurant. Shared bathrooms on floors extremely clean and modern. Enjoyed the breakfast. All guests respect each other and no noise, low speaking allowed.
A marvelous place to disconnect from busyness. Clean, quiet, and soothing. Opportunity to join in prayer and Mass.
Unique property very clean and close walk to everything in old. Quebec.
The Monastere is a converted former convent. The rooms are in two wings built in the 1600s. They are small and minimally furnished. The bathrooms are shared in the hall. Though there is a floor with more modern rooms with private baths. The breakfast was good, though taken in silence. The location in the historic center was excellent. The Monastere is a good place to sleep, surrounded by lots of history. But the quiet and the small rooms are not for everyone.
Great hotel, best breakfast ever.
Fantastic! Most unique and wonderful hotel experience of my life! This 1634 repurposed convent has modernized rooms, fabulous vibe, wonderful meals, exceptional museum, chapel, convent church, best location in old Quebec Cuty, and is reasonably priced for its location, amenities, and history! It is a MUST STAY … definitely NOT a party palace though … reason enough to book!
Property is close to restaurants and stores. Very unique place. Our room is perfect. Bed is great and had the bed sleep I’ve had in weeks. Staff is very helpful.
I stayed at the Monastery in 3 different rooms, with shared bathrooms, for 7 nights over a 2.5 week period. I really enjoyed my time at the Monastery. The atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful as you'd expect. The staff are very helpful and I enjoyed the yoga classes.
Loved it!
Great location. Wonderfull breakfast. Helpfull staff.
Unique history and sense of calm Great location and grounds close to old town and social life
Very relaxing stay with easy access to historic Quebec.
Loved my room. Great breakfast too
This hotel is a sanctuary and spa, literally. Stunning inside and out for anyone who wants peace and quiet. The focus is on health in all food offerings. We stayed to explore old Quebec as tourists. It was lovely to return to this oasis after a full day. You can also book packages, mind and wellness, and never leave the property.
The Monastery is just beautiful. Staff were wonderful. The food was delicious. Everything was sparkling clean and the history so intriguing. There is limited parking at the hotel, but plenty near by. The city is very walkable lots of shops and restaurants. Lots to do and see. I highly recommend taking time to do a guided museum tour the staff person who did our tour was a retired teacher, she was wonderful, full of knowledge and very entertaining!
Totally unique!
It is like living in a museum. Beautiful.
Beautiful sanctuary!
Amazing historic experience
Amazing historic monastery stay with modern amenities tastefully worked in. Great service, quiet, relaxing stay
This is such a beautiful place! I love the mix of historical and super modern amineties! It feels like home! I want to sell everything and move there!
Quel endroit magnifique ! Plus qu'un hôtel; une expérience ! La qualité des lieux, de la nourriture, du personnel, etc... mériterait plus de 5 étoiles. Merci pour ce doux moment avec mon amoureux.
This was my second time here. The room was bright, clean, quiet, and comfy as I expected. The breakfast is fresh, nutritious, and tasty as I remembered. I would definitely come back again.
A truly unique experience of staying in an active museum with a great service
Awesome experience. Enjoyed every minute of our stay. Staff extremely friendly.
Definitely recommended this place to stay, got unforgettable good memories about this place. The stuff are amazing!
Unique property. Food was excellent. Very peaceful.
Perfect stay
Beautiful, rejuvenating experience. Relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. Delicious food. It’s very close to many of the city’s sights. Would definitely return.
Rooms are small, and not your standard hotel but very clean, comfortable beds. Walking distant to city and conveniently distanced to many popular attractions. Would def recommend! Hotel is very quiet.
This is a unique lodging experience that I will remember for a long time. It was steps away from the Old Town pedestrian area, but you never heard anything - it was serene and a nice escape after a day of sightseeing. My mom and I were staying in separate rooms - however, my room was bigger with two windows. I’d recommend asking for a room with more than one window. The rooms are over 400 years old, but they are beautifully remodeled. I love having no TV and phone. Breakfast was delicious. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. For a truly memorable experience, stay here and experience something ver unique.
Clean, Unique, Perfect
Absolutely lovely stay—super clean room (no carpet!), spacious bathroom, very interesting museum to add context to the already cool building, signature fragrance was very soothing (wish it were available in more products), and easy walk to the sites (but also a nice oasis). For BBC fans…slight Call the Midwife vibes (but with a spa-like twist).
great!
Excellent stay! Loved the authentic room and slept better than any hotel stay ever. Appreciated the silence at breakfast …who wants to talk pre coffee anyways?! Convenient location close to all the sights yet tucked back just enough that it quiet and serene. Throughly enjoyed learning about the history of the Augustinian sisters and highly recommend staying here.
A unique experience
Comfortable beds. Adequate bed linen and towels. Impressive breakfast, with many fruit and bread options. Attentive hotel staff. Good location. Unfortunately, the room is very small, and some walls are slanted diagonally, which I bumped my head against a few times until I got used to it. The shower is small (glass wall), and during the shower the water splashes onto the floor, soaking the towel. But the experience is unique, as you will have access to the Monastère museum, with beautiful works of art. So, it is worth checking out.
Nice, quiet place with healthy breakfast
Stunning property providing a tranquil and unique experience in beautiful Quebec City. The authentic rooms suited me perfectly, and the hall baths were always available and very clean. It was a memorable and uplifting experience, as I was seeking a serene respite from life’s troubles.
Beautiful place to stay
This is a beautiful, historic building that they turned into an equally beautiful place to stay in Québec. The breakfast is great and they offer fantastic spa services, and you can even visit the museum at any time during your stay. Highly recommend, especially for solo travellers!
I didn’t like the shares bathroom at all. I arrived tired from a long trip. I’ve asked for a private bathroom, the front desk staff said it they would have to charge 150 $ more for that. A little courtesy would have gone a long way. That unfortunate. That brought from disappointment to the experience that would have been otherwise great.
Museum is beautiful. Buildings are lovely and clean. Room was very small and hot.
Very quiet, comfortable bed, very clean. The breakfast looked amazing
It’s a very nice place. The only thing is you have to share the bathrooms, but if you are ok with that, is a very nice place. Breakfast and beds are great!
I especially liked the breakfasts - delicious and none is permitted to talk
Nice location.
Beautiful and tranquil place.
Unique stay. Next time I’d try the modern room. Breakfast was fantastic
A lovely place to stay with fascinating history!
The place is so peaceful and tranquil yet so close to everything. Nothing but positive experience.
Very nice place. I stayed solo and it was exactly the peaceful place I needed. Comfortable rooms, and never had to wait for the bathroom or showers. Loads on each floor. Would come back.
Beau voyage dans le temps.
Unforgettable
It was one of the best experiences I have had on my trips abroad. I strongly suggest this hotel to anyone visiting Quebec, a truly fantastic 'Hôtellerie d'Expérience' as promoted. Fantastic design and sustainably correct in all senses.
Good place to quiet and relax
I relaxed and enjoyed quiet place. Their silent breakfast was very good. I got their massage too. I want to come back this place
Excellent
Beautiful rooms, interesting historical building, lovely staff. Take your time and visit the museum. Loved the whole stay, and will return.
Monastère des Augustines is an incredible hotel; it exceeded all my expectations. It is very quiet, impeccable, the staff is incredibly friendly, the location is perfect. It is located in a quiet area but just a few blocks away from all the commercial area of restaurants and shops; you can walk there easily. I loved it!
Great place to stay when you are in Quebec as location is strategic - literally steps away from the Old Town. Excellent service too!
Beautiful hotel with museum and lots of character and history. Friendly staff willing to give free guided tours. Awesome stay.
This property was so peaceful and tranquil. Very relaxing stay. This is my second time I will certainly return!
We had a lovely stay. The hotel is beautiful and full of history. Definitely take the free tour. My only comment is that there is no soda in the restaurant or building and also no ice available or refrigerators in the rooms. We were able to get a small bag of ice from the restaurant but it was kind of a production. Otherwise a great location and comfortable, quiet accommodations.
Fabulous Stay at the Monastere!
Fabulous stay in this historic property. I stayed in a single authentic room, with meticulously kept shared bathroom. Breakfast and dinner were superior and tge staff were receptive. Property is açcesdible by bus lines and by foot. I would visit again!
This place is by far the best way to spend your nights and maybe days if you are looking for some peace and quiet. My wife and I loved are in love with it. The pièce de résistance of our Canada experience. If we had to go back to Québec, we would stay here again.
Silent breakfast was the best
I would definitely stay here again. The rooms were simple, but nice. The tone of the place wax peaceful. I loved the silent breakfast. I really wish all hotels had this feature. Also, the location was amazing.
Unique experience in historic convent.
Very nice
So good
As close to perfection as possible. You are literally staying in a museum. The architecture, design, and outfitting of the new addition to facilitate the hotel is excellent. Very high quality throughout. I did the classic room with shared baths and was a little concerned how that would work out. I was pleased to see that each floor/wing has multiple options and I never had to wait or plan my bathroom usage on off hours. It’s a great experience all around. Book it and enjoy
Beautiful property
It was absolutely lovely in every way.
I had a very good stay here. Walking through the hallways and seeing the artifacts was very interesting and learning how life was in the past. There was a good selection of food for breakfast. The area is quiet and so were the rooms. Be sure to watch your head in the "authentic" rooms. The hallways and shared bathrooms were consistently clean; however, I wished the stains in the hallway carpets were removed.
There’s a quiet kind of reverent hush that happens when you step foot onto the grounds of the Monastère des Augustines. We loved our time here. The staff were kind in giving us detailed orientation of the property and tour. Our room was the contemporary modern room and we appreciated the clean accommodations with adjoining shower and toilet. Breakfast was a healthy fare of oatmeal, fruits, organic vegetables, eggs and tea/coffee. Eating in silence was new to me, but I enjoyed the quiet. We especially liked trying the different tinctures (tea blends) whose recipes were handed down by the Sisters through the years. In all, we had a lovely time during our stay here and we are grateful for the opportunity to stay.
Quiet, safe and charming.
So much more than we expected.
