The foyer on level one smelt like rotting prawns
The room was perfect for our needs. The reception workers were so rude. There was a female receptionist who was so rude and disrespectful at checkin. For that reason we will not return.
Gorgeous property! Easy access! Quiet and safe spot! Will be back
Recently stayed and loved the location and size of the unit. Staff were amazing with easy check in/check out. Will definitely stay again when we are in the area.
We were looking forward to nice accommodation, however was greeted by less than responsive receptionist. This was followed by a smell of vomit upon entering our unit which was emanating from the bathroom. Advised receptionist who remained as helpful as before, and could not either resolve the problem or provide alternative accommodation. Wouldn’t recommend this one at all.
Would highly recommend this property
My apartment was wonderful, spacious, clean & modern. All amenities that you could want for a short or long stay including washing machine and tumble dryer!!
Excellent Close to everything
We had a great stay in a deluxe one bedroom apartment. Our room was spacious enough for the two of us. It was clean and comfortable with a pool and gym. There was parking available & restaurants within walking distance and the reception staff was friendly and extremely helpful. We would happily stay here again in future!
Great room, fabulous view. And the bed was just heavenly.
Very clean property and close to great Restaurants. Only downside is windows very thin so heard every noise outside including garbages at 5:50am.
These appartments are perfectly located for dinning, cafes, scenery, walking, beaches. On-site parking. Spacious appartments
Property was in a great location & very spacious, too many codes for 1 room
Address of the property is wrong - the place is actually the Chifley, not the executive whatever. Communication was incredibly poor. Entry to the carpark is down a one way street nowhere near the address. If you pay for overnight parking you're greeted with signs threatening wheel clamps when trying to find a park. Was told to "park anywhere" - clearly from the signs you can't. No indication that a check-in at reception was/wasn't required from the instructions given (everywhere else you do...). The place has all the vibes of a rent a room by the hour. Not entirely sure I was sleeping in clean sheets. Would never stay there again.
Good property and value for money
We booked with Last Minute and loved the look of the room we booked. We looked at all the images of various rooms before deciding on a particular room. To our shock, when we arrived to check in they had given us a different room & were told that choosing a room online is "subjective". The air-conditioning didn't work properly, one room door wouldn't close, the balcony door to the bedroom wouldn't close properly & wind blew through the entire holiday. The wardrobe wall hadn't been fixed and draught was coming through. I had to kill a few cockroaches. Would.
Great location
10/10
Was excellent
Great apartment on Level 7 giving views over Newcastle and out to Nobbys. Handy to have on site parking and easy access to restaurants along the waterfront.
Newcastle Accommodation
The staff were wonderful and the apartment was safe, clean and very comfortable. I liked how the Honeysuckle Apartments are situated in a picturesque foreshore precinct which is close by to beaches, restaurants and shopping centres. A very enjoyable stay which I highly recommend.
Wish it was a better stay
Motel was nice and clean and closes to everything. But the Wi-Fi was not working rang reception and saw the reception, told us it should be working, they ask me are you sure that we are log onto the right internet, I said yes, I was asked the same question again are you sure. We were going out, he said he will go to the room check it out, with pulling a face, after going out the internet still was not working. So, I don’t if he went to the room or not. Also, the air conditioning was not working, as we put it now to 16 the room was still hot as we had to sleep in our sweat, very uncomfortable sleep for the night.
The bed was awesome,
Really enjoyed staying here. Great, new property with excellent appliances, air conditioning, TV, pool etc would stay again
Great property and extremely friendly staff.
Needs better signage to find it as its off main road in a side street
Great Location however check in & communication could be improved. Room was a little dirty 😔
This property is in a great location, walking distance to harbour and dining options. It was quiet at night except for the 5am skip/bin emptying twice a week. A 7 digit code for the carpark was sent as a text then when we got to reception we were given a different 7 digit code for the room. We had to use one code for the carpark and front door and the other code for the lift and bedroom which got confusing at times. A swipe card would have been more convenient than getting your phone out every time you wanted to enter. The room was not serviced during our 7 night stay but we did manage to catch the maid once for extra tea and toilet roll. I would like to see the management move away from small bottles of shampoo and tiny bars of soap and use more sustainable refillable large bottles. It would reduce costs and waste. The kitchen and laundry area were well equipped but there were only 2 coat hangers. Hooks somewhere for coats would have been useful. A bathroom shelf for toiletries would also have been useful. We had a classic apartment with bath tub and it was a struggle to get in and out of bed as there was minimal space between the bed and wall. The most disappointing thing was that the apartment stank of stale cigarette smoke despite being a non smoking room. We had the windows open all day, everyday but the smell was bad at night when we closed the windows.
Property was lovely and was bigger than what we expected which was lovely ! Great location for what we needed. Would definitely stay again !
Great location close to restaurants and civic theatre. Checking in easy all done by text messaging before you arrive with room number and codes to get into the room.
We did not stay at Honeysuckle hotel, we were disappointed because we expecting walking every morning along the waterfront, and beach and more people around. We were sent to different hotel.
Very convenient location close to everything clean and tidy.
Well worth another visit
I didn’t get the room I had booked and paid for well in advance nor did management contact me to rectify
The apartment was spacious and comfortable and the bed was excellent. We did find the TV awkward and not really designed for overseas visitors as apps like Netflix often don't transfer.
Bed was comfortable
Easy walk to theatre
The accommodation was good. A couple of nights away to see a show. 5 minute walk to theatre. The address provided does not show as Honeysuckle apartments. Building says Chiefly. We stood outside main locked entry door for a few minutes with a receptionist watching us. I had provided my arrival time too. Eventually I stArted to ring hotel and the receptionist came to let us in. We were told our room number and we would be sent an access code on our way to the room. There was an assumption that we understood this!! More compassion and welcome to guests will start holidays better. The spa suite is as said, however the gap between bed and wall is very tight and you do need to pass by turning sideways but was not a big concern for us.
Appalling customer service from reception staff !!
No WiFi available at all for the entire duration of our stay and no help whatsoever from any of the reception staff Terrible layout in the shower with water spilling everywhere onto the bathroom and toilet floor making everything wet, slippery and very dangerous No carpets at all, only tiles throughout making everything feel cold and damp Plantation shutters were terrible with huge gaps letting lots of light in making it impossible to sleep in darkness No fan in the bedroom making it very hot and humid as split-system air-con in the living area did not reach the bedroom Hotel was having lots of work done making it very noisy with early morning drilling etc right near the elevators close to our room. Absolutely appalling service given to us by the many different reception staff manning the desk at various times. They were not helpful at all in solving any of our problems or even in simply showing any care or concern to our complaints particularly with no WiFi. Some staff members were extremely rude and didn’t seem like they wanted to help at all nor did they seem to know the answers to any of our questions. No street number on the property address making it very hard to find and no mention that it’s actually in the Chiefley building, Number to contact reception always went to a call centre and never to the actual reception desk at the property we were staying in. We will NEVER stay here again and we will NOT be recommending this property to anyone at all!
Location was great, in the middle of the city so close to everything. Room was clean but shower needs a really good scrub. The toilet seat wasn't attached to the bowl so it was touch & go whether the seat would be on or not.
Newcastle is a beautiful city.
The apartment was fantastic! Comfy bed, a balcony, fully equiped, and lots of space. The only downside to the room was the bathroom. There was no shower screen so water went all over the toilet, which was right next to the shower, and over the floor, making it a serious slip hazard. Even though our room wasn't cleaned while we were there, Pauline the cleaner asked if we had everything we needed and if anything needed topping up. She was lovely. We got return airport transfers and our driver Michael was brilliant. Great guy, friendly and helpful. He drove us in a cool black electric Lexus SUV. We felt very special and the transfers worked out cheaper than taxis. Sadly, the reception staff seemed disinterested and not very helpful with being forthcoming about details. The hotel runs on a series of codes (no keys/key cards) for after hours entry, pool and gym entry, and even our room door. If all this had of been communicated to us clearly at reception, and not by SMS, it would have saved a lot of confusion. There's no phone in the room so keep your SMS because it has reception/hotel numbers if you need them. The SMS also told us to download an app that we didn't end up needing. The hotel is close to everything including the light rail (you can take it to the beach) and beautiful walks along the wharf where there's lots of cafes and bars. Newcastle is a beautiful city and we had a fabulous stay. I would have given 5 stars, but the reception staff and bathroom brought it down.
Great location and good size apartment. It was noisy through the night due from other guests in the building.
Handy Honeysuckle
The Chifley Executive Apartments are well placed between the beach and the harbour ammenities.
Keypads not working properly noisy work going on in units next to ours in the mornings
Petty owners ask you to take your own garbage out.
Good but they charge you $50 if you don’t take your garbage to the bin room. They do have cleaners too! I’ve never seen such a request before in all my more than 70 nights in hotels! Seems really petty to me. I won’t be going back just because of this.
Receptionists could give a better explanation of codes for entry.
The rooms were modern and clean
Not a lot of explanation of how things work. 3 different codes needed to access your room and room code is 7 digits, 2 different keypads at each entry only told after asking which colour was correct. Noisy work carried out during day 3 without notification so you could have arranged during the time it was carried out.
Extremely rude and unhelpful customer service, dirty room, terrible parking situation.
Loved the property. Conveniently located to everything. Very tidy and very friendly staff
The hotel itself was great, but most of the staff were terrible. Rude and unhelpful. One man in particular was an absolute w*nker.
Good accommodation, great setup and sized rooms. All amenities and new.
I love the location of the property, it is close to many restaurants and the tram station & has a little harbour view from the balcony. Room was tired, no channel 7 or 9 on TV in lounge room, hole in the wall inside the front door, broken decorative mirror in lounge room. Needs a good clean, cobwebs on nearly every interior window, orange lolly left beside fridge, labels still left on legs supporting desk, window shutters are dusty, couch seats run into middle of couch-very uncomfortable to sit on.
The property had everything we needed for a wonderful stay at Newcastle. It is located close to the harbour waterfront but still close to the city shops.
Enjoyable 6 night stay
We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment for 6 nights and found it very clean, comfortable and spacious. The bed was really comfortable and the shower great. It was lovely to have a full size washing machine and dryer. It would have been nice to have a cupboard in the bathroom to put our toiletries and a clothes airer. The view from the living area was good and we even had a glimpse of the sea from our balcony. The kitchen was great and the only thing needed there was a salad bowl. Great range of glasses and a full size fridge. We had 2 fire evacuations on Xmas day due to someone cooking and setting off the fire alarm so maybe it would be a good idea to have a 1 minute button installed in the apartments.
It is difficult to book but nice place
The staying was ok but only one issue is buthered me that I left a charger in the room this morning when i cheked out and I found it and called the property reporting it just after 4 hours I left. But till now,a day pasting I still can't get any answer for if they found it or not
Close to the beach and CBD, I would have liked to been able to log into my Netflix account on the television.
Good area to stay in for the weekend. Would do it again
We were not sent the correct codes to enter the property room and not sent the car park boom gate code and finding a parking spot is difficult. When trying to enter the car park to lift area door code, it is that dark you cannot see the key pad.
One of the rooms in the 2 bedroom apartment where our baby was going to sleep my husband found the light was sparking. We informed staff and no one took it serious. Guy came to look to take a photo and then blew the whole apartments power resulting in us having to move to a 1 bedroom smaller apartment at night when we were trying to put our baby to sleep. That room had a broken door. Had to move rooms again the next day. Staff were not helpful and didnt seem interested at all. We were told we would be compensated as i payed for the 2 bedroom apartment and we havent had a phone call whatsoever. I think its very poor service when you have to change rooms twice with a baby and staff dont seem to care. Still waiting for staff to ring us which they obviously had no intention on doing so. Will not stay here again.
After reading reviews was worried but I can’t fault them. Everything was easy and access codes worked perfectly.
2 days in Newcastle
The reception lacked in knowledge of the local area. Also after we left they rang to say we hadn’t paid for parking which we had done on arrival. It would have been good to have a local map and a few pamphlets of the local area for tourists like us. Other than that the position was excellent and the room also excellent.
The room was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only problem we had was that on the second night we were there our entry code for the front door didn’t work. If another couple hadn’t come along to let us in according to the recording on their after hours number we would have had to call a locksmith at our own cost.
Great location along the waterfront with secure parking. Plenty of room, but the one bedroom was not able to be closed off from rest of the apartment and the sofa bed not very comfortable.
Good location
was not homy
Great stay thanks.
Nice place good location Can't access foyer during office hours without a code Staff vague with parking instructions
Lovely stay close to everything shops entertainment the water local hotels Apartment was lovely had everything we needed and more
Top spot, underrated by many.
After getting used to the idea of no key card and using a code to enter a door the whole concept seems seamless. Have to keep a handle on remembering the codes but otherwise makes sense. We had our elderly parents stay in one 1 bedroom apartment while we stayed in another. There seemed to be generous space in each apartment and generally had good storage for bags and luggage, which many places neglect. It was also so close to the riverside. Only a short walk to the light rail another bonus and this made it so easy. We parked the car on the first day and didn't use it again. The Newcastle foreshore has come a long way and making further advancements all the time. We have mostly stayed at Quest until this last visit and thinking HEA would be high on our return list of favorite places to stay due to it's proximity to the water and Newcastle central district. It is lovely walking along the waterfront park. Fantastic. The staff were quite obliging and general maintenance was good, a couple of minor issues but these were more to do with poor behavior from guests damaging things rather than management issues. Would recommend this place over many, and definitely deserves more than the rating it gets from others.
Was good for a family of 5
Excellent staff and really good clean rooms. Highly recommend!
I love this place and I like the staff
It was ok. The remote did not work for the television. But other than that it was good.
Very clean, quiet, had all the amenities. Lovely stay. Just one negative, too many codes to remember, car park, room, front door etc.
Issues with checking in- door code took forever to be sent out and had to follow up once waiting at the room door. Door didn’t always open first go had to try multiple times.
Gym needs free weights
Clean and close to light rails and ferries.
We had a great time. The apartments are in a great location with plenty of dining options. After a fire in a room only a few doors up from ours, we spent 1.5hrs on the street from 2am on the first night. There was no communication from staff about this incident which surprised and disappointed us. It was as if it never happened
Convenient Location
No one at counter, several people waiting to be given room numbers etc, not into rooms until 3 pm.
The unit was a little tired. But it was clean, convenient, check in and out was seemless. Enjoyed our stay
Great place to stay, very close to everything
Close to water front, walking distance. Bedroom windows and shutters needed cleaning
Front desk not overly polite or helpful
Room was in poor condition. Found someone else’s used and dirty hand towel in the washing machine prior to use. They must give Wotif customers the oldest and worst condition rooms
Good location, easy to access public transport or walk to surrounding beaches and cafes/restaurants. Our room was completely tiled and felt cold and unwelcoming. We had to ask twice for more toilet paper and we were not provided with fresh towels when requested. The building claims to have strict policies regarding noise levels but there was loud music being played by other people late into the night on multiple nights.
Great location
We were in for house design meeting. Great locatioin with easy access. Furniture needs an urgent update, chairs are falling to pieces. Plates and cutlery not cleaned and had to be and washed to get caked on food off then through dishwasher. Same as our last stay.
Great area. Friendly at service desk.
Room key code was a big deal. Unfriendly reception
Overall the Room was really good for the price including the size and the amenities. You can tell the place had rough visitor before. Our issues were with the Room code door and the app they made you download that in the end did not work. The front desk lady was unfriendly and even when the room key code did not work several times, she did not apologies for the inconvenience. She had to go and open the room eventually and the issue was resolve later even when she said ill take 5 min. Did not follow-up and we still had problems accessing the room later on when we came back late at night, but finally got in.
The property was central to everywhere we had planned to go. The property was clean and staff were friendly. The only thing we didn’t like and most people aren’t use to new technology is the key system and checking I. Through an app. People still like speaking with a human on check in and out.
Great sized room and in a terrific location. The bathroom and bed were clean but the rest of the apartment was very dusty and felt dirty. Call me old school but give me a key to the room any day over downloading an App, you needed an app to access the building, what happens if your phone dies and reception have clocked off.
It’s the worst key and security system ever experienced
Needs a really good clean.
Apartment is in a great location but that’s really the only positive. Check in system with virtual key was terrible - requested a key on both mine and my husband’s phone however when they added to his phone, they removed it from mine which meant I was locked out. Property was run down and unclean. Bathroom flooded due to drainage issue in the shower. Bizarre layout with tiny bedrooms and no cupboards, but large lounge room space. Would not stay again.
Disgusting property and disgusting service.
Great position, close to the harbour and the light house and beaches. Good bars and dining in walking distance.
Our stay was ok, close for the purpose of our meetings and close for dining purposes. No information was provided to advise of local restaurants or things that are typically supplied elsewhere. Unfortunately, the woman at the desk was quite rude and condescending , 3 times I selected my bedding configuration - once when booking, once when calling to confirm I had the app for the key, and again the morning of my arrival when the venue called. However, when we arrived, it was wrong, we then had to ask twice for it to be fixed, both times the woman was rude and abrupt. I had glass under the bed in the main room and found more under the fridge when opening the fridge door. There were a number of small flying insects in the bathroom which only appeared once I had turned on the shower, the shower is too low, my 6ft brother was unable to fit under it, so not very comfortable. Such a shame, online it looks fantastic but our experience was not and it’s much smaller than advertised.
The whole check in system keyless entry was difficult and worse when it didn’t work , need to look at new sofa lounge was impossible to sleep on I did request 2 twin beds but that didn’t happen, good central location, good value for money
The location of the property is great, everything needed is within a short stroll. The shower drain wasn’t sufficient and the whole bathroom floor was wet when finished which meant wet pajamas I had placed on the floor quiet a distance away. Went to utilise the dryer but it didn’t work which was disappointing. The tv was stuck on channel 9, the remote had no working buttons besides the volume buttons and the source button. The bed was ok, but you could feel the springs underneath.
The glass door to the bedroom was pretty see through so it got pretty light in the morning, if the glass was darker it would’ve kept the room darker. The AC was really hard to keep at a comfortable temperature, when set to 23’C it was freezing and 24’C it blew out hot air! So we had to get up several times a night to turn it down or up because the bedroom would either be freezing or hot. Otherwise nice bathroom and the kitchen had everything we needed. Comfortable bed.
