If you want to eat with cats then this is the hotel for you they run and lay everywhere my husband and I being asthmatic and went there for our honeymoon that was totally destroyed for we were mostly confined to our room and on our breathing machine front desk did not want to refund our money to book another hotel the place is run down don’t let the pictures fool you they really live up to there name CATalonia they don’t care about people it’s about money I will continue to fight till I get my refund I also got a lawyer for when my husband got worst for the last two days they try to cancel the rest of our reservation and told us we can leave now mind you we’re in another country they were just tired of hearing us complain everyday and due to the cats couldn’t enjoy the amenities this was inhuman on how my husband and I were treated this was supposed to be a joyous time celebrating our honeymoon and all we could do was stay in our dirty damping moldy, smelling room while our asthma continued to get worse as the cats live everywhere and staff also made us feel like we were in the wrong for complaining about the cats that were severely allergic to on top of being chronic asthmatics this has been an experience from hell but like I said I will not stop until the right thing is done my husband and I should of been able to enjoy all the amenities we payed like everyone else one worker told us it was so bad with the cats they were paying people 100$ for each cat they caught horrible!

I liked that housekeeping clean the rooms everyday

Very clean and well kept. Buffet is ok, but finer dining was limited to advanced reservations. The water activities are swimming or kayaking, unless you bring snorkels or sailboats. Overall it was okay, but definitely not managed well except the sports bar where Colin really goes above and beyond.

No hot water at all, staff not very friendly

The was black mold on the bedding, no working telephone or clock, glass door to balcony was almost impossible to open and close, threshold going to and from balcony razor sharp sticking up 1.5 inches. bugs in room, floors in bathroom and around furniture completely flithy and built up residue. toilet seat in room only had one screw holding it one, shower was beyond disqusting. Staff were unpleasant, and unapproachable. the buffett had same food daily, restuarants had limited selections and hard to get into. could not leave resort unaccompanied and cost 60.00 US to go into town for any type of supplys. cups to drink from were filthy and not cleaned watched bar staff just dump out previous beverges and reuse cups and containers again without being washed. beach was nice first 2 foot into the ocean after that it was all seaweed and sea grass, nothing like the pictures. worst vacation I have ever been on. Would never return and would warn everyone not to book there.

Absolutely nothing to do at this resort and the workers could care less about you.

Over the property was good, I'm not a swimmer but I love the pools and the beach. Just did not like location of some rooms, where i had to pass by the pool with luggages, was a little awkward.

Very nice resort, food and drinks were average. Staff frienfly. Enjoyed our stay. Really no complaints.

I’m a person who never writes reviews but reads them. My husband and I are very pleased with the hotel. food and staff. The hotel grounds were excellent they took such great care of it . Yes the elevator didn’t work but for the price we are very pleased. The beautiful view from our hotel room was beautiful!

The grounds and beach are wonderful. The water is beautiful. Dining is ok. Rooms are dated but clean and staff is friendly and accommodating.

The food was delivered disgusting the customer service was terrible stood there no phone in the room because it stopped working and they never came to fix it again and the room service was not good very limited . Never again

Our flight got delayed by one day we called property saying we wouldn't make it and to cancel the first night and add extra nt which they declined so we paid for that room upon arrival the next day at 11 we were told our room wouldn't be ready till 3pm after we were charged for our stay the previous day so that room should have been ready it was ours The following day a water main broke we had no water for 2 days we couldnt shower we had to get water from ocean to flush our toilets and the hotel never offered refunds or anything for this dilemma. I would avoid this place at all costs the staff is nice but they said Spanish company took it over and its going downhill fast

We are teachers in our late 50s who were looking for a quiet place to sit by the ocean and read our books. In sense the catalonia fits the bill. The beached are long in width but not very deep.( if you are uncomfortable witj seaweed..you might want to rethink) We were able to find a chair most days but to get one in the shade you had to get up early. The food was decent think college cafeteria. But we often struggled to get our plates cleaned. Other simple things like getting coffee in the am proved surprisingly difficult( only 3 of the 7 days) We paid for" privileged " but would not again Couple of things to consider 1..the hotel is right on a major road YOU Will hear the traffic at night. 2.We found the staff to be friendly overall 3. The adults only pool is not a quiet pool With all that said, Would we stay at the catalonia again.. Possibly, it is close to the airport and right on the beach

Easy to get around. Smaller resort and easily walkable.

Decent accommodations, but dated. Limited food options, but adequate. Nice beach front with private island, but limited activities. Lovely experience overall, but definitely several notches below the top tier all inclusive options out there. Perfect if you’re not picky, but might be frustrating to those that are.

The property is a nice place. No issues with the room, food or pool areas. While we were there, they had a water main break and we had no water for 2 days. No ice anywhere which meant only beer available by the adult pool for 2 of the 5 days there. They offered no money back and then tried charging me for late check out. At the very least they could have had ice brought in and cans of pop for drinks but they seemed not to care at all to make anyone happy.

There is so much to not like about this resort. Limited amount of beach chairs. Our tub backed up, phone didn’t work then the tv stopped working. There are only 4 restaurants good luck reserving one of them. There’s no entertainment and no activities even though they say there is. You cannot do any water activities you need to be transported to another resort. You can’t get coffee until 8 am unless you sit at the buffet at 7 am. Most of the time the coffee machine isn’t working anyway. So unless you like getting up at 4 am to secure a beach chair , have no coffee, no activities and no water activities. DO NOT STAY HERE

Catalonia has wonderful staff and views. The buildings and procedures definitely need some work however. This was our first time at an all-inclusive so we had no clue how anything worked. When we asked about it, the staff was friendly and told us that food and drinks are free and any other information is on the website. The website supplied very limited information. As far as getting around the resort, there is no map and half of the signs are blank. If you are looking for a restaurant, you have to ask someone where it is because there are no signs to point you in the right direction. The rooms were also dated and slightly dirty looking. The entire bathroom was gross with dirt in corners, hair in the shower, and toilet did not seem to be completely clean. The rest of the room was okay, but not as it looks online. Lastly, most of the bars and stands that serve food do not have menus for food. Overall, the beaches and pools are beautiful but more information, more signs or a map of the resort, and updated buildings would make this place a whole lot more relaxing.

I could not do any higher than a 3* and here's why. First, the cats were everywhere, screaming all night, all over the open concept buffet. There were many times during dinner where the cats were under your chair/at the table begging for food. Cats were drinking the pool water. Outside of the Cats, the staff was not very friendly. There were a few at the desk, the tours, taxis, but the other staff seemed as though they did not want be there. The ice Cream stand didn't have anything they advertised other than ice cream. Also there isn't much to do here, I understand that the property is family friendly, but overall it was very very boring. The private Island is. nice touch, but more is needed. The Jerk hut was the best! Kudos to the two ladies that were there working.

Not worth the discount

I was quite disappointed with the hotel. It was clear that staff did not communicate with each other because no one knew what was going on. You have to make reservations for the restaurants but they give you the runaround for it. There’s minimal entertainment and the beach isn’t the best. The housekeeping is slow to respond and the buffet service is terrible. The bartenders are friendly but slow moving. The food at the restaurants was delicious but the service was only good at the hibachi restaurant. Would not stay here again.

Great place food was ok

A great place to visit for a short time. I paid extra for priveledge. There was no alcohol in the room fridge. There was no top shelf liquor on the property.

The ocean and view was amazing. The resort and that description as a resort is generous. The food was only average and options were limited. Not very many options for restaurants tThe hpusekeeping staff was very understaffed. The 1st day our room did not get cleaned. On other days the room was not cleaned unt afyet 6:00 pm. The last day was extrememly dissappointing. There were no beach towels available. I feel like this was a "hotel" trying to be a "resort". The children area was fenced off but there were 4 spots with large broken areas in the fencing. I will definitely NOT go back to this resort. There on expedia rating was deceiving. And should be lowered.

The front desk only one of the women was nice and helpful. They refused to help me call for my shuttle told me I have to go to my room and call 0. I did that multiple times and no one ever answered the phone. Didn’t like that could not smoke on the beach, really? It is on the beach in the open. There is no excuse for not letting people smoke on the beach Shows were good. I liked the position of our room Sucked that we had to walk so far to get to a working elevator Room was clean; cleaning staff was excellent I liked the location It was extremely nice to put up a birthday sign and the chocolate s we got for my birthday that is the kind of customer service that will make your hotel stand out Most of the bartenders and wait staff were pleasant, some need an attitude adjustment. They just need to remember that if it was not for the customers they would not have a job We spent hundreds of dollars on tips to the people we thought deserved it. Thank you for a pleasant vacation

Maybe change the menu it’s litteraly the same everyday

This is one of the best vacations me and my wife have ever had. The staff was great. Super nice. The place was clean. The service was excellent. The housekeeping was excellent and everybody always had a smile and was always greeting us everywhere we went. I will be back again. Thank you for having such a wonderful complex that is family friendly and everything have ever looked for in an all-inclusive resort. Thank you so much to all the staff who always kept smiling that really made our day

The staff was very friendly and polite. This property was formerly a Holiday Inn with aging infrastructure. We were without water for two days and then hot water for another day.

We loved Shannon and Chadisia at the Jerk bar. Jerk chicken was do good, best drinks and the girls were fun! Property was ok.

The food was horrible the drinks I don't know what kind of cranberry jet they were using but it was absolutely disgusting. I would not recommend this place to anyone especially with the food there so in there I mean it was unedible in my eyes

We spend a great time with my sister, food was delicious, staff were diligent, there weren't much activities early morning, but afternoon and night activities where fun. Great people l. There was a damage with water system but I think they handle it so good that it was not a concern for us. Really appreciate everyone service. Definitely would be back if possible

Catalonia has great potential but is going to need a lot of things to get to that point. (this hotel was originally a Holiday In) The place is outdated, the staff is rude (not all but most) It has a beautiful beach, pool, and view, but it needs more attention. The food needs improvement as well. On the positive side, is very close to the airport (10-12 minutes) Close to clubs, shops, and restaurants. The AC works amazingly! Affordable (you get for what you pay) The ladies at the front desk, are nice (most of them), and the ones at the buffet. I think this hotel is going to be a good one in the future, but now, it needs a bit of TLC.

The washrooms did not work, toilets didn’t flush properly. The water was locked off for most of the trip in the entire building. The wifi was slow or did not work. The TV was snow the entire time. They have better rooms but offered us the one that was not great. The food was very good however and the entertainment was fair.

I had an incredible time at Catalonia. It was my first time here and I will definitely be back. I came with my man and we loved it. The price is great, the food was great, Drinks were good, the property was clean and big. The beaches were clean and I LOVED the private island. Staff were friendly as well and room was nice. We stayed in a room with Garden view, there was a coffee machine in my room which was really nice to be able to have a slow morning and sit outside before going out for breakfast.

Catalonia owes me nothing , I had a really good time

We had no water no toilet no showers for two days. The pool was closed. There was a water main break. The buffet area was closed. We got finally the last day of our trip to Friday for a normal day. Very very disappointed spent all that money to go on vacation to just be Frustrated. We literally had to poop in a shopping bag if we didn’t want to sit in the toilet in our room for two days.

I do not recommend this resort. The first full day the water at the resort was off for approx 2 hours. Day two the water to the resort was off for 8 hours. Day 3 & 4 there was also NO WATER!! This was unsanitary, unsafe and unacceptable. We could NOT take a shower Monday or Tuesday with no water to our room and decided to check out 4 days early on Wed due to no end in sight. Also our AC leaked water onto the floor the whole time making us have to leave towels on the floor and also outside on our patio as the water was leaking outside too making the floor slippery and gross inside and out. Had to call/beg for a blanket 3X. Cats are all over using the place as a litter box. Elevator did not work, had to use the stairs the whole time in our building. Beware it is a cashless property if you like to use cash. They give you your key on check in and you are on your own with zero info on anything, you have to figure it out. There is no property map or info anywhere. Good luck getting anyone to snswer the phone. I have been trying to get compensated for the un used days with no response from Catalonia. I will say most of the staff other than front desk were very friendly and welcoming. However, Please choose another resort!

The food was not as good.

Liked the property and staff. Limited food options. Open bar was very limited in what alcohol you could get. And no bottles beer. The staff was great. And the shuttle service to and from were not up to par. But hotel got us back to the airport.

The rooms were not updated. The restaurant workers were not the friendliest. These people expect people to treat them good when they travel but cant treat their own or others good. Attitude sucks. I loved the beach but the rooms can use an upgrade/update. Didnt feel as clean.

Very good, I will visit again.

Rating: [1/10 Title: Disappointing Stay - Cleanliness Concerns, Unfriendly Staff, and Poor Compensation I recently stayed at Catalonia in Jamaica and had a disappointing experience due to widespread cleanliness issues, unfriendly staff, and poor compensation for the problems we encountered. The bathroom in my room was not well-maintained, with visible mold and mildew in the shower area. To make matters worse, I later discovered blood stains on my sheets. When I reported the issue to the front desk, they offered to show me two alternative rooms. Unfortunately, neither of these rooms was clean and up to standard either. This suggests to me that the hotel has a deeper problem with its housekeeping and cleaning protocols. To add to my frustration, some of the staff members I interacted with were not friendly or welcoming. As a guest, I expect to be treated with respect and courtesy, especially when I'm reporting issues with my room. Because they were unable to provide a clean and acceptable room, they offered to clean the original room. However, this meant that we lost the first night of our reservation, which was a significant inconvenience. The only compensation they offered was a late check-out, which didn't come close to making up for the problems we experienced. I'm extremely disappointed in the way they handled our situation. As a paying customer, I expect a certain level of service and quality, and it's clear that this hotel fell far short of those expectations.

The hotel property is beautiful. I enjoyed being out on the beach and the little island is very nice.

I really enjoy the adult area in the swim up bar, and of course, the sandbar with the chairs is a nice touch.

We visited in celebration of my husband 40th bday . Great location very close to airport . Jada at front desk received us with vid smile and kindness . Earl on the pool Bar was amazing with his drinks .

-WiFi connection is subpar, slow & goes out -Room 4346 has a raggedy, noisy, very loud air conditioning unit & no one cared -Buffet area needs help (flies on fruit) -Restaurants are just on a paper with QR codes: no pictures of food or description of each restaurant. -Better hotels have an app for guests -Entertainment options were TERRIBLE, they need help in this area. Duplicate what the other hotels do (party bus to the clubs for a flat rate, etc.) -Diana with the mustache in the buffet area has a nasty disposition about her & should not be serving anyone food/drinks. -No shows at all like other hotels, just elderly soloists. -Add Kayak equipment & floaties for guests so the resort won’t be so boring. -They constantly ran out of ice and clean plates. Please order some more ice machines for the other food areas. -Please get better Internet -Please add meat to the buffet for breakfast that is not pork: many people do not eat pork and at dinner they only hand out 4 shrimp at a time -Catalonia is close enough to the airport & should have a free shuttle as Taxi’s overcharge $30 to go to the airport each way, per person. -The air conditioning unit in room 4346 was extremely loud, it made it hard to sleep!!! I called the front desk who said they would send maintenance & no one ever came. I made 4 calls to the front desk in total regarding the terribly loud air conditioning unit, you can check outgoing calls from that room. -Guest services was subpar for special occasions

This property has great potential, but it is in need of a serious facelift! This place is dated and not in good repair. It also is home to a gang of feral cats who constantly beg for food at the buffet restaurant. The tennis courts are a disaster. The bar constantly runs out of ice. Depending on what building you are in the WiFi is sketchy. They do have pretty good nightly entertainment and I found the staff to be friendly. You have to get your own drinks and food when at the pool or beach. They also don’t have room service. This property use to be the Holiday In and it doesn’t seem like Cantalonia has made any investment since they purchased the property. The ala cart restaurants are hard to get into. The buffet does have a lot of choices, but the food is pretty average also. There isn’t much that is special about this place.

In need of work no hot water for 2 days and no action to repair it. Food quality average. Cats everywhere

The property itself is wonderful, but I noticed an issue with customer service. Some of my friends who are locals felt overlooked by the staff during our stay, which was disappointing. If more effort was made to treat all guests equally, regardless of where they’re from, this place would easily earn a 5-star rating.

The WIFI needs an upgrade, it’s only good if you are in the common area and very poor in the rooms.

The property is in a condition of disrepair. Nothing works the phones, tv, and faucets all need to be replaced and or serviced. I moved twice Last year I moved three times. Still, once i moved, I faced the same issues. I couldn’t use the phones to call the front desk for support or to fix something.

The bathroom shower was not working. Had to change room. Phone in room was also not working.

The lobby was so pretty, open, and airy. However, the rest of the resort was old and outdated. The elevators were down in the building my room was in, so we had to use the staff elevator in another building. My room was nice and clean, yet the sliding patio door was warped and couldn't close completely. The cafeteria/buffet food was okay, however, the staff wasn't keeping the flies out or cleaning up the spills.

We had a great time, the staff was good, it was very busy during the start of the buffet times, you have to get it just right. Food was good, drinks were excellent. The food huts were great located around the property, The Jerk Chicken hut was our favorite. The entertainment was also very good.

Wouldn’t stay again.

The best thing about this property was the staff. They smiled, assisted us, conversed with us, laughed with us and seemed like they really cared about the guests. We had reservations for a Friday and Saturday night and the next Wednesday through Saturday. The food wasn’t good and I barely ate. The jerk chicken was a hit but the buffet, not so good. I even went to the restaurant with hopes it would be better, but no! The drinks were good but some of the Jamaican specialties were gone. The pina colada tasted different. I’m accustomed to fresh tasting drinks in Jamaica. Seems this new owner is trying to erase the Jamaican part of the resort. The entertainment was horrible. Not the artist themselves but the lack of variety. It was the same every night, someone singing. The last time we stayed here it was Holiday Inn and it was better. Would I stay here again? Only in a desperate situation.

Very relaxed resort. The beach is amazing (bring your own snorkel equipment). Not many extra activities aside from a band for a little bit at night and a session of water aerobics, and everything quiets down by 10pm, but that was fine for us. Food at the buffet and snack huts was decent but not spectacular. The three restaurants are hard to get a reservation at because they appear to be terribly understaffed (Japanese and Italian restaurants we were able to get into were only half full even though we were told there was no reservations available when we arrived), but the food at the restaurants was nothing special. If we went again, we'd skip the restaurants this time around and not bother trying to get a reservation. Plenty of families with kids as well, but the resort never felt super crowded. Took a great personal taxi tour of town from the taxi stand at the hotel. We'd consider going back.

The property was great. This was my first timing visiting this property. The food was not bad but could be better. I loved the Jerk Hut and the hamburger stand. The entertainment was okay. Room was very clean. The property need some up grade but while there they were working on that. Needs more exciting activities for adults. I recommend this property if your not looking for something extravagant.

Got stuck overnight due to flight issues. Check in girl was nice. Ate at Italian waitress was RUDE!!! Only could get 1 item off of front 1 item off of back. Room was gross dirty and stinky! No toilet paper! Kids ran up and down halls all night! Just stayed overnight so glad we did!
