Unique experience. Loved and enjoyed my stay.
Hotel cancelled reservation and sent no email. Said Expedia cancelled, however Expedia did not cancel as I got emails asking how my stay was, and to rate my stay. Staff were very un helpful, and very rude.
A very pleasant hotel.
Really nice hotel. We enjoyed our stay.
The staffs were very friendly
The pool area needs to vented somehow its way to hot and not enough air.
Everything was perfect but Elevator was pretty slow other than that was perfect
Helpful and nice
We did have an amazing stay!! Right where we want to be located.
Overall, it was a good property with good amenities, and convenient highway access.
Great place to stay, comfy bed, easy parking and convenient location
The pool could have been clean more often.
Great family hotel
Great stay, the pool was a good size and the kids loved the waterslide. Only downfall of the hotel was one elevator was down so a lot of waiting for the elevator or going up and down to get where you’re going.
Can’t wait to go again!
Amazing location! Easy to access, lots of amenities and the pool was great fun for us. We ended up staying an extra night due to the great service and room being so comfortable and clean.
kids running in the hall way
The water slide was fun and the beds were really comfy
There was a really weird smell on our second night, and I think somebody had gotten arrested and it could’ve been pepper spray, and my throat has been sore ever cents
One month ago When I booked the room they accepted my debit card but a day before my reservation they called me and asked me about another credit card and I didn’t trust them to give my information because I have to many spam calls and I said I will tell you tomorrow when I get there Yesterday when I get there they told me my room is not available and they gave me a new room but it was beside street and wasn’t the same as what I reserved and had plans for my kids I frastrided with that and it wasn’t what I expected
Pool was great. Water was super warm and the water slide was lots of fun. Breakfast had great options. Our family had a great stay.
Loved everything but need to control wayer around pool area, wasnt draining and a lot of water on tile floor .
The hotel overall was great. Breakfast: very good selection Parking: free Staff: kind and relaxed Pool and Slide: pool water was warm and clean (steps may need repainting but overall great) Location: only a short drive to Bayers Lake. Can walk to Tim Hortons, and a gas station 30 seconds away. - easy access to the highway. Snack shop: basic snacks; chips, pop, ramen, cotton candy. Room: beds were soft but good, safe in the room, had trouble with the cooling but maintenance was in the room as soon as we left (check that the controls work before bed time) - what we were not told was that there were private swim classes Monday/Wednesday 430-730, but we were fortunately there before the lessons. It was what we expected, and would stay again.
When booking our stay, we were unaware that the hotel is primarily used as government housing for the homeless. As a guest traveling with my two small children, I felt unsafe due to certain activities occurring in and around the hotel. Given the rate of $300 per night, I believe it would be appropriate to inform future guests about the predominant nature of the property. Additionally, I have deep sympathy for the challenges the staff face under these circumstances.
Room was clean & well stocked, pool was warm and staff friendly. The whole buildkmg smelled like fish, the heat was on high in the room with no way to turn it downand only one elevator
Only 1 elevator working and it sounds like it's going to break everytime you take it
Great spot - stayed for a tournament
Room was spacious and clean. Front desk clerk at check-in was amazing. Nice large breakfast area
The guy who checked us in needs a raise
Great new years getaway with family. Staff polite rooms clean and very quiet. Loved that subway Tim’s and gas station were close. Shopping and good eating wasn’t far either. Close enough to Costco to go before we left to go.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful clean room.
Family fun
The pool was fun with the kids slide is open from 7-11 I believe and the complimentary breakfast was delicious. Pancakes, omelets, sausages, fruit, yogurt… lots to pick from. The room its self was clean. The front desk was very helpful and informative,
Didnt like pool control. Very much lack of direction. Playing with rescue rings. Should not be done, running around pool Running from deck and jumping into pool. Just no control or direction. Will not let my children play in pool again, no safety. Very high concern of injury
Every thing was good
Amazing free Breakfast!
Super friendly staff
The room was cozy and clean until our toilet overflowed. The staff were super quick to address the problem and was fixed in no time. Staff were friendly and the kids enjoyed our 4-day stay.
Great place!
Great
Brock was excellent at the front desk
All good
The pool was a treat and so was the breakfast!
Convenient to visit family in Bedford and Middle Sackfield. Also plenty of restaurants within a few minutes drive. Good breakfasts at the hotel.included in tbe price.
Very clean and updated. Staff are friendly
Flood damage not cleaned up. Broken elevator. Homeless being housed in hotel. Felt unsafe with the number of questionable people around the hotel. Why are we paying full price for less?
Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. It’s run down and very dirty. Super schetchy people staying there. There were ants in my room. The internet was not stable, could only work for a couple of minutes at a time, then had to wait 5 minutes to get it back. They charged me an extra $400 in random fees.
Good close parking
This particular hotel had all the great amenities however at no point did myself or my family feel comfortable or safe at the hotel. They were housing people at the hotel and their behaviours and habits did not make it a family friendly experience. From arguments in the breakfast area, smell of marijuana in the lobby, to going out to the car with our children to see a group of people smoking up by our vehicle. We did express our concerns at check out and they were not taken with any sincere acknowledgement. I will not be recommending this hotel to any family, friends or local sport teams.
Comfort
The 2 people working at the time of check in were amazing !! Went above and beyond to meet our needs. Thank you 😊
Rooms were fantastic and clean! Rest of property was very dirty and staff were sloppy and smoking in front of the main lobby doors - as were long term patrons.
Clean, modern rooms with efficient check-out.
It served its purpose. I needed a place for a few nights and there were no major issues.
Hotel was clean and room was modern. Conveniently close to Mount St Vincent university and Bayer’s Lake shopping centre.
Was very disappointed to find out when we checked in late Thursday evening that the elevators were out of service and our room was on the 4th floor thus two flights of stairs per floor. There was no availability for a lower floor. Both my husband and and I are fairly healthy seniors but I have knee problems this was very disappointing as we were to tired from traveling and did not want to start looking for an alternate place. I would have appreciated if they advised us ahead of time so we could decide if we wanted to cancel our booking. That being said the staff were very friendly and helpful especially with the luggage
.
We were unaware that the location had been affected by flooding until we arrived. Elevators not working, no longer a hut tub as advertised. Terrible smell in the hotel and when asked to speak to a manager, we never heard back. Still paid full price for 1 night close to $400. Never again!!
For 350$ the property is not worth. Smell in lobby , stairs , no elevator . Old hotel. Avoid avoid aboid
It was fine but the elevator were still not working due the the big flood of 2 weeks ago.
Overall stay was ok, elevator didn’t work, a/c didn’t work in the lobby and breakfast area
Staff were very friendly I wish I would have known I was paying $420 a night for a property that also houses the homeless population. I would have gone somewhere else for that price tag. Elevator not working as well as phones to front desk because of floods. Had to carry luggage up four flights of stairs (the man at the front was nice enough to help) Also - I was made to sign out two pool towels and return them to the front desk and if I didn’t return them.. I would have been charged for them. Price does not reflect the accommodations!
Clean room, amazing staff, great breakfast
Through no fault of their own - this location was affected by bad flooding in the area. When we arrived we were advised that the elevators, phones and central AC were not working…. Though the AC units in the rooms did. We were told that there would be a charge for our dog to stay, even though the Hotel Policy on Expedia states that let’s stay free. We were also told that we were on the 4th floor, and that we would have to take the stairs - which was fine for us, but inconvenient to take our 10 year old dog out when she needed it. What was surprising is that even though this Hotel is not in a central area of Halifax, it was THE most expensive stay of our entire east coast trip and no discount was even suggested to make up for all the services that were lacking. Even with functioning elevators this Hotel is average at best and not worth the 360$ we paid.
Substandard for Holiday Inn
Staff are friendly and room were nice and clean..The sauna wasn’t working at the time of visit but the pool was so it works okay with the kids..
The room itself was clean! But staff were so unfriendly and their customer service at the front desk was very disrespectful like ignoring and not welcoming!!!!
The beds were very uncomfortable.
We were there for NAIG so it was easy to get to all the venues we needed. Friendly staff. We were there for a week so a bit more variety in breakfast choices (specifically meat - had sausages every day) would have been good.
It was close to highway and local restaurants was only 10 minutes away. The air conditioner was noisy going on and off louder it seems than normal
I wasn’t able to check in due to the severe weather I had to cancel my trip and I was still charged. There was no way I could have predicted the hr
Friendly hotel
This is my first time for those property. I am very pleased with many stores in your area, gas, pizza, shopping and etc…. Thank you. Vanessa
slide at the pool was great for the kids!
The pool was not great, the hot tube was down.
The rooms were clean and the bed was really comfortable. Overall nice Hotel.
One of our rooms needed maintenance, the toilet flushing mechanism was broken. Had trouble with the TV remote to start but figured it out in time.
My favorite thing was the very attentive staff.
Pros: Bed was very comfortable and pool area was nice. Con: Property is also being used as a temp homeless shelter it’s seems. One person was up banging on doors and scared kids who wanted to go home.
The first night awoken by wild person banging on doors at 4 am. Elevators gave you an uneasy feeling as they lurched and banged. Breakfast was satisfying and the coffee was good.
The waterslide was really great for kids, and the pool size was perfect to get an actual swim in.
Staff was great but would have liked to know the hot tub was broken also that the hotel was being used as a shelter. We are fine with homeless but don’t feel it’s worth almost $600 for 2 nights. Our room the sink needed replaced it was all water damaged underneath and the plug was broken keeping it stuck down and not draining properly and it was uncomfortable all the residents hanging around the front of the hotel and reception. It made me nervous with my children especially with the amount of police at the hotel all the time. The staff were really attentive and helpful one of the better staffs.
Stay was comfortable
I liked the location, so easy to get to and in a quiet area, with gas stations and restaurant close by, and the Staff was great.
This hotel is .. meh .... The rooms are nice but small, and hot tubs been down for god knows how long. The only good thing about this place is the water slide. They are very particular about thier towels, make sure you keep count and have the exact amount returned to the desk or you don't get anymore.
easy to find and close to some stores .
They should clean better the rooms before renting them. My bed was full of body hair, no body wash in the bathroom, and the vault was locked.
Very sad the hot tub was closed
I always love when i stay at the holiday inn, great staff, breakfast and location!
The bed was incredibly comfortable. Hot breakfast with lots of options even for vegetarians. Pool was small but heated and slide made it so much fun! Pet friendly
We have had great experiences at Holiday Inn Express locations in the past but this location failed in numerous areas. From lack of cleanliness in both common guest areas, the room and the pool. They did not have enough linens for all hotel guests on one night and we were given a bath mat and hand-towel to us as face clothes. They failed to inform guests that the hot tub was not working and employees were more inserted in their own needs like phones. Would not recommend this location to others and will not be returning.
very well located , big rooms and safe
The experience was great, the staff made the visit very welcoming.
Great service and venue.
Loved the waterslide and heated pool. Friendly staff at breakfast too! Spacious, clean room. Quiet.
A child cut her head quite badly in the water slide. Staff member did not seem to care. He handed the family a 1st aid kit and walked away. We left when it didn’t seem anyone was coming to clean the blood on the pool deck. There also weren’t towels the 2 times we went there and the hot tub had scum buildup around the edge. All that said, the room was extremely clean and breakfast was great. They need to work harder on keeping the pool facility clean and providing support when someone gets hurt.
Staff was rude and the pool area was disgusting
Overall, the hotel was in great shape, the finished and decor are several years old but still felt contemporary, and there was a nice variety at the complimentary breakfast. Our room had several problems though: the bathroom got stuck, and the door also squeaked horribly . The bed was so soft it should be criminal or come with a warning. The first time I sat on it it felt like was being swallowed and sleeping on it was incredibly uncomfortable. Lesson learned, I will sit on the bed before unpacking because I will never pay to sleep on that kind of bed again.
Breakfast is awesome. Rooms are nice. Pool area needs some work. Sporadic Loud noise that sounded like jack hammer (think it was water pipes)
We were told our Expedia reservation had been canceled. We were given a room under new reservation at same price. We needed to leave after one night due to hurricane. We were terribly overcharged!! Why did this happen? No more Holiday Inns for us.
Great hotel but for the price it should not have run out of toilet paper and poor breakfast
Stayed 6 nights. Bed never changed or made up. Came once in all that time to take away garbage & replace towels. Gave us a Handicapped room & didn’t like it. Toilet & bed, too high. TV, too small. Furniture new but all IKEA like stuff, very cold looking room & no bureau! Mattress was comfortable. Pool was nice & warm. Jacuzzi was hot but jets did not work. Breakfast was good, but same every day. I would not recommend & I will not stay at another Holiday Inn Express!!
The hotel is pet friendly but not contained to a specific floor. The room smelled a little like dog. The pool area was not appealing as it was under construction.
Very disappointing
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for 5 nights. There were empty beer bottles on the floor in the room when we arrived. There was no housekeeping/cleaning service for the entire time. We had to ask staff at the front desk for towels and garbage bags for our room which I feel is ridiculous. I am not sure what the story is with the people hanging out at the front entrance with their drugs and drug paraphernalia but they were there sitting just outside the hotel entrance every day. I am glad I was there with my adult daughter as opposed to a young child. It’s not a great environment for families staying with young children. It was a disappointing experience - not what I have come to expect from Holiday Inn Express. I have stayed at a number of them - this was nothing like previous experiences.
