Staff & scenery were the saving grace!
Staff was amazing, food was okay, outdoor areas were beautiful, room…not so much. Mold in a lot of areas, some lights didn’t work, phone didn’t work, hairdryer was broken and the tub was clogged. Not even close to “5 star hotel” status. Wait for a deal and don’t expect luxury and then it’s great!!
Good experience. I booked a room with a King bed, but the one I was given had a Double bed; no one ever explained the change. The pools were very good, and the staff was generally good, although there were some cases where they were rude. The evening show was excellent, and there were good activities during the day. As for the food, the quality has dropped significantly. It still offers good variety, but the quality is definitely not at hotel level.
Elevator was damaged so had difficulties moving stroller up and down, not all the staff was friendly in fact many at restaurants some just did bad faces when asked for something. Taste in food has improved but still has area for improvements in customer service and menus, as well as facilities
Property is in need of updating ; very crowed on the weekends as they allow locals to obtain a day pass
Beautiful resort, highly recommend. Very family oriented. Any minor problems were dealt with immediately, great communication by management and staff.
The pictures are deceiving, the property is smaller and not as “new”. There were so many people and they offer day packages so even more people than what are staying at the resort. There’s also an upgraded package that was not offered prior to arriving. You have limited dining and drink options without the upgraded package. Once we got there and realize this we tried to upgrade and we were not able to. We were not impressed with the food or drinks. We also reserve the junior honeymoon suite for our honeymoon and nothing was special about the room or the experience. You are pretty isolated to the resort. There’s not a lot of travel options or places to explore. We could not get a uber or taxi to come because you are not close to anything else. They do have a tours company out of the resort, but it is pretty expensive and the experiences were not what we were hoping.

What you'd expect from an all inclusive resort. Food was good.
Was an ok stay, but felt VIP was not even felt nor more that standard room
Me encantó
Very old and in much need off upgrading. Running toilet All night. Could here people above taking a shower. Bathroom condition awful. Buffet was bland no flavor. No activates on site. 2 hours from airport and it cost $135.00 each way for 2 people.
If you stay at the VIP- Premium area, services are good, have a variety of food, surroundings areas are clean and maintain. However, if is not on VIP, food is not good, don’t provide protein or any type of meat. You will have to make a line, standing for more than 20 minutes in order to have breakfast or lunch. Will not repeat.
The family and I had a great time at this resort. It was very convenient to activities. We will definitely be back.
The food was great, especially the international and the Latin restaurant! The breakfast buffet was the best! The staff were also very friendly and attentive! Mattie, the sweet cook that made our eggs every morning was just amazing! She was always smiling and happy to be cooking for us. Francis that greeted us during the breakfast buffet was also fantastic! So cheerful and very welcoming! We did not stay on the premiere side so our room was dated but we still had a great time at the resort! If you want to upgrade and have a better room then pay extra to stay on the premiere side. We do not stay in our room long enough to really care about that! The beach is not for swimming but we went on an excursion to Isla Tortuga for the best beach experience! A must tour! The resort has many pool games and activities but just know that it is mainly in Spanish. We wish it was more in English but we still had fun participating in some of the activities! Overall, we had such an amazing vacation there and highly recommend it!
Didn't like the other visitors.
Restaurant staff very accommodating and friendly. Check in and front counter staff rude and very long line ups to do anything at the counter .Pools were great but you can't swim in the ocean due to severe undertow.
The maintenance of the facilities are very bad, our room smelled of mold strongly
Excellent beach hotel. The all-inclusive is definetely a great plus; lots of options. Nice bedroom size. Just a great place to stay for a short gateway.
It is really close to the city and all inclusive. Price-value is great for the property.
The property was very clean, massages at spa awesome, pools alright. Beach is not for swimming, also no chairs/loungers on beach. The biggest issue as a traveler from the USA is couldn't enjoy entertainment or games or events, often couldn't get information due to everything is only Spanish. This resort is NOT designed to cater to international guests only Costa Ricans or nearby countries which is a shame. Several other American and Canadian guests had same issue. We pay to come to resort that suppose to have entertainment, games, lessons, nightclub, etc but if you can't understand anything it is awful.
Everything was great but what was outstanding was the helpfulness, and professionalism of the staff. They all went above and beyond to help elderly ladies feel comfortable and welcome
Everything was awesome but staff. If you do not speak Spanish avoid this place very very few staff understand English let alone speak.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Our time in Fiesta Resort was great……excellent service. They are well organized with their food service and entertainment for their guests. Easy access and good security on their property.
The hôtel does not offer mini bar in the room. The mini fridge was completely empty unlike other all inclusive hotels. They claim that this service was suspended because of the pandemic. Well the pandemic is over. Furniture is very dated. The buffet offers the same food selection every day.
I loved all of the options for activities. It would have been ni e to know where each activity was located & sometimes the food a a little bland. Otherwise, I absolutely enjoyed every minute i was there, definitely worth it!
Thanks!
The resort is lovely, the staff are friendly and helpful.
Room was very old And was leaking water all around the room Bathroom was dirty But the outside pool and outdoor was nice
La Fiesta is a very large resort. The large majority of guests are Spanish speaking so most activities are Spanish only. You can find an English speaker when you need one. We stayed in both the premium hotel and the timeshare areas and found both very nice. The all inclusive food gets pretty boring but the 3 specialty restaurants are nice.
The food was mid at best, limited options. Watered down cocktails, not really an all inclusive since you can’t re-enter the restaurant to grab anything not even a fruit after going out. The administration is cheap with the food and treats like you were not paying an all inclusive price tag. The room smelled like mildew, very outdated, no mini fridge in the room, chipped paint, mold spots. Overall very disappointed.
No balconies on rooms
If you are going for a beach, choose a different resort. The beach is not meant for swimming. Shipping port is in view and the water is brown. Beach is not clean. The cool thing is the sand is black. I suggest getting the premium package. Other rooms are apparently run down and have no windows that open it balcony. We enjoyed the premium section. Had a balcony with partial ocean view. Room was clean and comfortable with lots of room. Food was plentiful and good. Large buffet that will satisfy mostly anyone's hunger pains! Entertainment is not the greatest. If you do not speak Spanish or have limited knowledge of the language, nothing is translated to French, English, or any other language. This is unfortunate but of course it is Latin America. There is lots to see in this country! Nature, beaches, historical sites, and the mountainous areas are beautiful! I am not sure I would return due to the fact of the beach. Customer service is at par for the most part. Transportation is very expensive so be prepared! The hotel does not offer airport transportation but they can help arrange it. It will cost anywhere between $120 $200 USD depending on your choice. Premium room is the way to go at this resort!!!
This is a beautiful property that is worth getting the upgrade for better food options and swim up bar. English was understood but directions are not clear such as a map or dining options. Check out took a long time. Go to the towel check instead of reception. We would definitely come again.
.
Just fine for a pit stop, average food, average service. Our room phone didn’t work, we had no bathroom towels on arrival, had to walk to reception 3 times to request a crib. We were given privileged parking which basically meant you are locked into a rope and can’t leave the premises without finding someone to unlock it which means walking out of your way to reception, or I assume using your room phone if it works. Plenty of food options and the pools were perfect for our kids. Great location on the beach.
The weather was fantastic, the are was very sketchy. Everything had bars and razor wire on every building, the jail was just fine from the property. The rooms were old and dirty (dirt on the ceiling fans, shower had tiles falling off , the room was dated and just not maintained) then entire time there we felt like second class citizens and were greedy as such. Would not go back ! The staff was unorganized and they double booked gazebo’s and restaurants. Was not impressed , Mexico is 5 times better, as well the excursions
Our last stay at Fiesta
We used to love Fiesta but it has been going dow hill over the last few years. This is the first time we couldn’t get a reservation for a la cart restaurant, even coming earlier. Our rooms was in poor condition and have strong toxic smell of paint. The noises at night were unbearable. Nobody controls noisy guests. The drink are heavily diluted. We tried straight rum and vodka and they were half water. We still enjoyed the regular good and pool area but will not return.
Beautiful
Although we only stayed one night we had a great stay! We arrived early but were able to spend the day at the pool before our room was ready. We were in the premium zone and the restaurant exclusive to us was excellent! View of the beach, good food and superb service. Our room was clean and spacious and very quiet. Was a terrific place to stay before we took the ferry the next day.
D) Cercanía a nuestro hogar.
This property needs to be removed from travel site, because they cater to only the locals people.from the front desk to the entire property you can not find anyone that speaks a sparkle of English. No one acknowledge you or even wonder about your experience.furthermore it too far from the airport. The VIP room I was assigned was the worse room I have ever slept in in vacation not even a bottle of water in the old fridge in the room. I could go on and on, nevertheless I hope traveler will pay attention to these warning and not go to this hotel. I read a few warning too before going and still decided to give it a try. BAD BAD BAD. A word to the wise…….
This resort provided everything that would leave the guest satisfied
Excellent hotel, don’t be put off by some negative
After reading some reviews we were apprehensive about the hotel but to our delight the hotel was very good in all areas, yes the room could be updated but it had a coffee pod machine, bath and shower, the hotel has excellent restaurant food, plenty of sun loungers and on the beach front which is clean, I’m not sure why there are some negative reviews
Property have not improved buildings and attractions in a while
Property needs a redo from top to bottom. Very disappointing.
Very limited options for breakfast, cheapest as possible. Poor maintenance in room and surrounding. It was ver good several years ago, but now quality in general has been reduced.
Exc,,
This is a neat property but badly dated. Our first rooms were in poor condition with a strong mildew smell. The drink options were quite limited. Some of the food was good but hit or miss with the buffet.
Great
All good
Room wasn’t in good condition, bathroom needs to be renovated asap.
it has a good food service, almost 24 hours with something to eat, drinks are good, and the shows are entertaining.
It exceeded my expectations considering the surrounding area which we already knew was bad. We would return!
The staff are exceptional and friendly. Service was prompt and courteous. The facilities are in need of some updates as some of the fixtures show their age and wear (paint/caulk, etc), mainly in the bathroom. The rooms were comfortable but a bit dated as well. We did love our stay!
It’s just ok
Take caree of yours belongings .Hotel is bit gonna help you if you miss something
The check in process was silly long. I cannot imagine what all of the paper shuffling was about. My guess is the rooms had not been cleaned so they slowed it way down to catch up with cleaning. Since when we got in the room the maid came back to do something she forgot 30 minutes after we got into the room. The maid didn’t notice we were in the room yet I do not like the game playing with check in
Thank you to all the hotel staff for making my stay enjoyable. Very fun place, nice facilities and very good food.
Did enjoy or stay great staff great service unfortunately did get stuck in the elevator for a while on a rather hot day. Please add a/c to the elevators.

.
3 star hotel, period. The amenities, service, and food respectively to comment on. Amenities adequate for the resort, tennis, mini golf (~20 minutes run), gym with dumbells and some resistance cables, treadmill and row machine, large sized chess board, and access to 3 seprate pools, adults, family, and VIP/premium. Buffets/restaurants: the restaurants are what the resort has done well. By reservation only. Food was great and portion size was excellent. Allergen listed provided in advance if needed. Buffets could definitely use inprovement- relatively few options, limited fruit options- watermelon and pineapple, bananas, apples, and dragon fruit. Servers for proteins give small portions but can request more. Drinks- little alcohol provided in mixed drinks (I did not personally consume), and rest were juice (sugar water with natural flavors). Check-in was smooth. The rooms, as mentioned in other reviews, adequate. Air conditioning, at least. Bathroom shower pressure is great, and minimal pooling. There is warm water. Soap provided. Personal: Marco 5/5 customer service. If ya need something, find him and ask. He will do his best to direct you or assist himself. As resorts go- would give 3 out 5 stars however ** 1/5** due to unforseen event happening at our last night. Jewelery went missing the evening before and it required escalation to management and security. TBD the outcome. * DO NOT waste your time coming here if US cititizen.
Great place, but the check in and checkout needs to improve, yo can be in a queue for 2 hours
This is an average resort. We booked several rooms as we were celebrating my grandma‘s 90th birthday be aware there is a difference in room types and sadly some of us ended up in the premium area not realizing this while booking. The staff is not very friendly or helpful and although I am a platinum member for Expedia, I did not receive any perks, the food is average and you must book a reservation for the restaurants. We were only able to secure one night as the staff stated that they were all booked. The beach in the resort was very dirty and no one was swimming in it. The hotel is outdated and needs Some restoration. Overall, I would never come back to this resort as I am sure there are better options.
Old facility. There’s a beach, but it’s definitely no resort and it’s uninviting. Never went. We just hung out at the pool, which was actually nice. As an all-inclusive resort, know that there is no bottled water, which is a disappointment. Definitely a C “All-inclusive” venue (hard to say it’s a “resort”).
It is obvious they are making repairs to the facility. Unfortunately the pictures are older, so it looks like, but several years older. The service is amazing though! Everyone was friendly and supportive, hands down. The food is okay. The pools and bars are really nice. Not much beach area, mainly to look at, not to get in. All in all, not terrible, but definitely needing some upgrading!
Poor food options. Must of Bar staff really bad attitude
Food wasn't that good , average,
DON'T BE DECEIVED, THIS IS THE WORST ALL INCLUSIVE IN COSTA RICA. I stayed here first in 1992, and it was lovely. In 2018 as well, and was told then they were going to upgrade everything. Well THEY LIED !!It's unfortunate I only have 1500 characters to describe everything that is horrible about the place, so I will break it down very simply. Rooms are moldy, dirty abused and not secure. Safes, irons and hairdryers don't work. Mattress and pillows old worn ad springs pop. Grounds have uneven and dangerous walkways. Beach is a hazard filled with garbage and UNSWIMABLE. The sunset pier has been closed due to structural failure. The 3 restaurants require reservations but you cant make them days in advance and they only allow about 20 people per day in each. They have no mosquito abatement of control. The pool is nice but by 2pm turns into a cloudy mess with drink glasses on the bottom and all sorts of debris. The bar serves the cheapest high grain alcohol with fruity mixes, and the guest get hammered all day. the buffet has a lot of Typical CR food but, not the best quality or flavor, and the egg stations either drown your omelets in oil or burn them. Pool towels look years old. They also segregate the large tour groups to the newer buildings on the north side. OVER ALL I WASTED MY TIME, ENERGY AND MONEY HERE.
We enjoyed the delicious food options. The customer service and hospitality we received at the bar and restaurant were lovely and refreshing. The resort isn't tourist-friendly. there is a huge local crowd and preference for this resort. I would not recommend it to tourists and people who do not know the language. The shows were limited to only Spanish-speaking, and the live music was also catered to the locals. There wasn't much to do at the resort. They had water aerobics in the morning and cames for the children, but not much of an exciting vibe or presence like other resorts.
Not a very good experience, won’t visit again
Hotel wasnt bad not much restaurants on property
Hotel was ok theirs pros and cons. Pros: Property is clean everyone was nice and friendly. Food is AMAZING I was able to do the restaurants and buffet and they were all delicious and amazing. Drinks were ok as well had a big variety of drinks and were great. Cons: Rooms need a major update they smelled a bit moldy and were not cleaned well. Glass shower looked like it wasn't cleaned for months, sink had a brown stain in it, walls were cracked and peeling. I had no wifi in my room only out on property seems to be in and out and not very strong and consistent. Day and night time entertainment is extremely lacking.Hotel seems to host many locals as guests. Plus hotel is extremely far from excursions and activities.
The staff were all wonderful and the facilities were kept clean. The hotel itself was old and could benefit from renovation. We were surprised that it was a black sand beach as we felt like that was not made clear in the photos of the location. The biggest issue that I had with the hotel was the excessive presence of Mosquitoes. There were everywhere except for the guest rooms, and if you leave your door open for too long the mosquitoes infiltrate the rooms too. The food was delicious but considering that all of the restaurants except one were outside, if you didn’t douse yourself if bug repellent then you would probably have a hard time enjoying your meal. The location for the Hotel is great since the excursions were a decent commute and it was easy to find and book ways ti explore Costa Rica. Overall I would say that we made the best of the situation and enjoyed our vacation.
Save your time and stay elsewhere. This place is dirty, terrible food and staff is not accommodating. One of our rooms the ac broke and they “fixed” it and the room temperature was 80F after they fixed it. Finally moved rooms the next day. The area is unsafe and trash and needles all over the beach.
Food terrible, rooms outdated wouldn’t stay here. It’s pretty much a motel with decent pool area. Food is so bad only stay one night which we are glad we didn’t book longer. Would not stay here
The rooms were not the same as the ones on the website
The staff was so friendly and nice. But the rooms were in such bad condition. The food was a little on the salt y side the location was great, the restaurants and bars and the entertainment waa was great.
AC works great, premium vodka in VIP pool bar, customer service is not great but I enjoyed all inclusive although the beach is not nice. My check in took over 1.5 hours due to missing a night on my reservation, adding a 3rd night might have caused the mix up. I highly recommend using what’s app to text concierge, they are very responsive and it’s extremely convenient. Be sure to reserve dinner in advance as it requires a reservation.
Staff acted like tips were included in the price. Food was average at best, drinks were weak. Had to drive through a smelly factory town to arrive. Area looked sketchy (no surprise it’s all inclusive). Beach was dirty and had bugs/fleas. The rooms are outdated, pools are overcrowded and the “entertainment” is subpar to a cruise ship. If you can avoid Puntarenas all together, do it!
Wonderful experience.
Stay was amazing. Staff was friendly and helpful. It is a beautiful place.
I had a great stay and would come back again.
La playa no está buena
.
Horrible place to stay in
They really need to improve the meals , beverages, snacks and room cleaning, pillows and sheets smell was horrible. Snack staff is a bit rude.
A paradise in Costa Rica
The Hotel Fiesta is an amazing place to spend quality time with your family. The customer service, the shows at night, and the cleanness are excellent. I'd like to recognize the following employees: Luisa, Melba, Axel, Felipito, and the show team. The idea of celebrating the birthday of the guests after the show is fantastic. The hotel has a beautiful green area and walking around the beach is relaxing. The cost of the room per night is affordable knowing that the 3-time meal is included.
Great place for family vacations
Great service

Hotel Fiesta Resort Puntarenas is beautiful the pool, amenities, and maintenance are excellent. The bellmen and restaurant staff were very kind. However, reception service and food quality need improvement. I had to complain to get the ocean view room I booked, and communication (like making restaurant reservations) was inconvenient. Thankfully, Angie, the guest service manager, was amazing, she apologized for the issues and supported me through everything. Thanks to her, the experience was much better.
