Close to the Moody Center
The faucet in the bathroom was improperly installed and the spout is very loose. Old dirty carpeting, very loud in the room we were placed in. Restaurant and bar had very limited hours. It appears the hotel gets limited guests and the owners can’t afford to make the hotel current.
Amazing service! Employees excellent t!
Every single employee in this hotel was amazing. Especially Martha! Friendly, helpful, always smiling. A great place!
Friendly staff
Staff changes everything
The hotel was fine - normal....but the staff was fantastic!
I didn’t get the lady at the front desks name but she was awesome. Sucks to pay for parking but the hotel was great.
Xx
We chose this hotel, due to the quick and easy walk to the Moody Center. The room was ok. Refrigerator only stays on for 2 hours and then shuts off for a couple hours, very strange, so items do not stay consistently cold. Air conditioner unit extremely loud. Breakfast buffet is very overpriced ($23) and only available from 6-9 am. Also, there is a gratuity on the bill which brought my total to $53 for 2 buffets!!! WAY TOO MUCH!!! The coffee is taken away at exactly 9 am. My husband couldn't get a second cup! When hae and another gentleman asked about it, they were tol thar necause tgis hotel is franchise owned, they are not required to follow the Doubletree corporate policies. There were not many choices for food on the buffet, at least not worth the price they charge. The toaster was unavailable to make toast, english muffins and bagels. Asked the worker how I toast my english muffin. She took it to toast it and never brought it back to me. After 15 minutes, when i went to ask about it, she brought it back to me, but it looked like like it wasn't toasted and it was cold! Would suggest Denny's, next door instead, for breakfast! Restaurant was not open for service, except frozen toaster oven pizzas on Thursday night, when the hotel was clearly fully- booked, due to a concert at the Moody Center, a football game and other college happenings. Very inconvenient! Parking is $35 per 24 hours, not sure why they charge for parking, if you are staying there!
Great stay
Room was clean, smelled great and was comfortable.
We wanted a hotel within walking distance to Moody Center for a concert. It was an easy, safe walk and the staff was so friendly. We loved our stay.
Stayed here because it was close to Moody Center. Light staffed.
Very nice and clean
The staff and hotel itself are great. Unfortunately they were having some technical issues during my stay. I prefer to put everything on my room but everything had to be paid individually with a credit card. They had limited draught beer and when one ran out there was no replacement for the remainder of my stay. Minor issues but worth mentioning.
Did not like the added expense of parking. Our room smelled like chinese food. Fridge couldve been cleaner. Staff was friendly.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Will be back when visiting family in the area!
I had a bad experience during my stay at this hotel. Here are some issues I encountered: 1. **Misleading Information About the Location:** - The hotel displays an image of the UT Tower and suggests it’s an easy walk to the UT campus. In reality, the hotel is about a 20-minute walk away, requiring guests to cross a highway and a bridge. - Despite being advertised as a four-star hotel with a beautiful pool and patio, the pool is very small, there is no patio, just a few outdoor chairs, and only one restaurant with a limited menu. 2. **Unprofessional Service:** - I didn’t receive the exclusive DoubleTree welcome cookie at check-in. - There was a lack of basic hospitality. When I asked the front desk about the patio and other restaurant options, the manager responded that it was our hotel and suggested I ask my agent. (For the record, I always book through Expedia as I am a Platinum member.) - There was no follow-up or feedback when I brought these issues to the hotel first. 3. **Overcharging:** - In addition to the one-night stay charge of about $269 (including tax), there was a $40 fee for on-site public parking, and a bottle of water cost $3. Anyway, this was my stay experience, maybe just case by case.
My daughter and SIL just gave birth via c-section to their baby who was flown to St. David's NICU and we called to see if they would help w/ adding more pillows to their room & they did. My daughter slept very well all 4 nights. THANK YOU!
Didn’t like the shower head handle did function properly & did not get full effective
Clean comfy magnificent staff
No valuable to stay compare prices
Had to pay for parking.
Excellent service
Had a great stay! Did not like that we had to pay to park.
Thin walls
Basic hotel by highway, not up to Hilton standard. Walls were thin, neighbors noisy
Old hotel. Service not accommodating. Bar closed at 10pm but bartender was cleaning up at 9:40 and would not serve us. Breakfast outrageously priced and not worth considering there is a Dennys right outside the hotel where you can get a better breakfast for half the price. Consider other options.
Everything about the hotel was fantastic and 5 star! The other areas around the hotel were a little "downtownish". Again the hotel was fantastic, the diner inside the hotel was excellent, and the room was spacious and comfortable. The Bathroom was clean and remarkable. It was a great stay! I will come back again. Thank you!
Pricing was high. Room was comfortable but you need signage for housekeeping! On the first day, a man walked in on me saying the room showed as unoccupied, and on subsequent days there were loud knocks all down the hall with people yelling HOUSEKEEPING. Also, the sink drain was very slow to drain. I think somebody might have vomited in the sink previously. The staff was really wonderful though
I did not like paying for parking $35 per night seemed excessive. Our room had a stale odor and noises A/C unit I am usually quite easy to please. The toilet was faulty it did not flush without re adjusting the flapper. The taps dripped The odor was the main problem. Other than that the hotel was satisfactory
Great Stay
We stayed for two nights for a concert. We enjoyed our stay and was close to concert venue. We walked to our concert and felt safe walking there and back.
The only complaint I have is the cost of parking, but that’s Austin! Lovely hotel and staff, would definitely stay again.
Bathroom in need of repair. Water in bath came out way too hot burning my kid. The cold water didn’t work
There was mold all over the bathroom ceiling, the water did not get hot in the shower, and the shower curtain rod was broken and the shower curtain wouldn’t stay closed. We ended up leaving early and not even spending the night.
Room was decently clean. Staff was courteous. Parking however was not free and was quite expensive. $35 per night plus taxes and fees.
Road noise is very loud. Housekeeping was very loud in the mornings. The front desk staff wasn’t very friendly and parking was expensive
All was good.. staff location and room was good
The whole reason for staying at this hotel, was so we could walk to the concert across the street at the Moody center. I figured it would be cheaper to stay at a more expensive hotel than to stay at a cheaper one and then have to Uber there. It wasn’t until I went to check in that they proceeded to tell me that parking was $40, but that “it’s ok, we’re still cheaper than the other nearby places.” It was too late to change or do anything considering the concert would be starting soon and you also can’t cancel your reservation. When I asked the clerk on the morning shift if anything could be done about the parking, her and the other male worker both said again that “it’s kind of an Austin thing.” Definitely will not be staying in another Hilton hotel, especially this one.
We stayed over the weekend to attend a concert at the Moody Center. Biggest plus was the location to the venue. First night was fine, they accommodated our late check in (happy with the young man’s customer service). Room was okay, there is Mildew in the bathroom due to no ventilation. Second night was horrible. We were on the third floor facing the pool and there were adults sitting around the pool visiting. (Not swimming). They stayed out there until 4:30am, very loud, obnoxious, and continued to wake us up throughout the night. I walked down to the front desk to complain and grab a bottle of water at 2:30am. The young man behind the counter was extremely nice and apologetic, he told me he would address them. As mentioned above they stayed out there another two hours. The next morning, I asked Samual (front desk) what the policy was for the hours for the pool area because the guests had kept us up all night. He apologized, then said Verbatim, “ The open hours are till 10pm, but honestly, we can’t tell them to go to bed or really address this. They could be diamond members and tell us they paid to stay here or get mad. I am sorry, but there isn’t anything we could do.” Screw the other members and guests. It was extremely disappointing that excuses were made, without any concern that other guests were disrupted all night. Barely an apology. We will not be returning to this location. The overall experience does not justify the cost
I find it insulting when hotels hide fees until you check in. We had two vehicles and upon check in they told us it was $35 per night per vehicle. And after tacking on a service fee(!) and tax, it is $40 per night per vehicle. Do I have the option of parking anywhere else? No. Is it an attended lot? Nope. Is it secured? Nope. Is it valet? Nope. It's just a regular open parking lot where they can scrape off some money from you and lower the amount that shows up in the Expedia searches. It's ridiculous. Our room also smelled like urine. But I'm way more disappointed about hidden, large fees.
When I was charged an additional fee for parking, expected Valet parking. Not a fee to just park in the parking lot!
Not again
Pretty outdated for the price. Parking is extra. No descent amenities in the room and the ice machine closest to me was 3 floors away. Not a big deal until you realize their fridge is teeny tiny and you have to keep things in a cooler with ice.
Average stay, I expected a bit more luxury from a Hilton hotel. Some cons were: overpriced food from the restaurant and the snack area, the plug-in in our bathroom didn't work, terrible lighting in the room, the front desk didn't have band-aids available, and $30 parking for an uncovered lot was a bit extreme. The location was close to the event we were attending so that was nice and the front desk worker at check-in was very nice and so was the bartender.
Great place
Nice staff. Nice room.
Bistro and rooms
Location. Parking not included any longer.
$30 parking and $30 breakfast added to your already expensive room rate makes this place much higher priced in the end. Stay at a nicer hotel that doesn't nickle and dime.
Crap stay
There were parking charges. No freebreakfast. Also 50 incidental charges for each night. Ridiculous. Will not stay here again
Staff was not helpful. Breakfast was great
Saddened by the loss of free parking
Front desk girl was amazing. Saddened by the new parking charges. I always stayed here bc of the free parking. I won’t be back bc of this unfortunately when I can get a way nicer room at a nicer hotel with the same rate of pay for parking as this location. It just wouldn’t make sense.
The entire staff was very friendly and helpful! The A/C was not turned on when we arrived, and with the 100 degrees outside, the room was very hot. The A/C had a moldy smell when turned on and there was rotten trim all over the restroom. The restroom vent also wasn't working.
Overnight stay, was able to check in earlier than expected, room was clean bed was comfortable but we like the firm beds. Did have to pay 35$ for parking and no valet, due to being close to moody center expect to have very limited parking during events especially which is why we picked...No big complaints did not look for or see breakfast area...Overall enjoyed and will pick again if need be especially being close to downtown area
GRUPO Frontera Stay
We were told it was a “city view” and we had a view of the parking lot! Other than that, we loved our room
Staff was great even when the power went out. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and informed through the outage. Rooms were clean and comfortable and AC worked great once the power came back on. Power outage was due to roaming outages, nothing to do with the facility itself.
Venue convenience
Conveniently located
Hotel is ok. Location is perfect for events at Moody theater. However, rooms need revamping. Carpets have stains, bathrooms have plumbing holes in walls, mold on ceiling, mold in sink and showers. Toilet seat had damage and it leaked water all night. Checkin black lady wasnt rude but she also wasnt welcoming. Ppl pay to stay there, its not free, a simple hello, welcome goes a long way. Parking is $35 per 24 hrs and the worst part is i parked near Dennys and my truck was infested by tiny black ants. We dealt with hundreds for the 5 hour drive back home. Not fun
Front desk people were super nice
Good location for tourist activities. Denny's across parking lot convenient for breakfast. Parking, though, is about $25/day; but then everywhere we went- capital, history museum (very good), bat cruise, dinner, etc. was omni;y paid parking. In 2-1/2 days we spent more than $100 in parking. But hotel is fine.
The parking is expensive, they charge by 24hrs periods The breakfast buffet is not included is too expensive. At Best Westerns hotels, where l usually stay, is included in the price you pay for your room, as the free parking for guests.
The lady at check In (I missed her name ) was ABSOLUTELY amazing !
Awesome service and great location for a show
The toilet ran all night. Water was supper expensive. And you find out once you are checked in you need to pay $ 30 a day for parking
The hotel was hreat but paying $30 tax a night for parking in an uncovered lot is ridiculous
Recent Austin stay
Perfect distance to Moody Center. Check in was slow but once we made it through that, it was good. Only downside was that we could not get the temperature in the room to stay regulated — always too warm. Overall though, would stay at this location again.
.
Hotel was great, staff was nice, but $30 parking is a little ridiculous after the room rate and all the other taxes and fees.
Stay here!! Just do it!
Loved this stay. I wish I could have stayed longer but it was just for a night. The staff is super hyped and welcoming. I will definitely stay here again.
We stayed here while in town to see a show at Bass Hall. It was close and convenient. Room was very clean and staff was friendly. My only comment is that the breakfast was too pricey - just go next door and grab something to eat rather than spend the money at the hotel. Parking is self pay via app. I think it was $35 for overnight.
Paying for parking is ridiculous Breakfast wasn’t available or the restaurant either Pool wasn’t available Restroom shower was dirty Won’t stay again
A/C did not work and didn’t get good sleep with room not being cold
It was good only thing was when we got there The whole place. Didn’t have running water and all they did was give us complementary cookies
Water was not working in the property.
Very old hotel needs updates in rooms
Everything was ok
One night in Austin
Good hotel. Good staff. only thing I didn't like was an expensive parking charge.
Seems isolated.
Disgusting
The bathroom faucet handles leaked all over the counter and got everything wet. The lights in the room flashes like neon lights for about a minute until they came in, one never stopped flashing. Then I pulled the sheets back and there was a lid to a coke bottle on the bed…under the comforter and top sheet. It fell onto the ground when I flung back the comforter. Called front desk, they offered to change our room but they could not give us a room with the city view which we paid for. They did bring us sheets so we had to remake the bed at 10:30 pm. As we removed the comforter and top sheet completely there was a candy wrapper at the door of the bed on top of the fitted sheet! Gross stains and fresh makeup on the pillow and sheet as well.
Too many extras without being a “member”
The hotel was nice and in a convenient location so we could walk to the concert venue. They charged $35 for parking. Then they had bottled water in the room but if you drank it, it was $3.00 per bottle. Breakfast was a buffet just like other hotels but instead of being included, it was $18.95 per person plus tax. I may be cheap, but definitely not with all the “extras” to stay in this hotel again!
Bar closed too early. Coffee not out long enough in the morning Cookies were good
We had a great short stay to attend a concert at The Moody Center. Check in was very quick. Yes, parking is an extra $35, but it’s cheaper than nearby parking garages. We were able to walk to concert in under 10 minutes. Will definitely stay here again.
It was a good hotel BUT the breakfast was too expensive... and not worth it.
It was guiet and clean.
Loud!
The road noise was so loud in our room it was difficult to sleep
Helpful staff
What I didn't like was parking lot fee
Very close to UT campus, walking distance
Very friendly staff and rooms were clean
Toilet in room 530 needs to be fixed. Constantly had to jiggle the handle. $74 for two nights of parking was outrageous considering the room was over $500 and that’s an insult to guests. Otherwise was a nice stay.
The hotel was located in a convenient area and felt safe.
Great hotel, great location.
The hotel was nice. Just hate that you have to pay extra and separately for parking.
Nice
Would stay again.
m
Amazing
Nice stay. Sad you have to pay for parking when no security provided. At least that we were aware of. However, front desk was nice. The bartender lady was the most friendly and knowledgeable person at the stay. She made our stay very welcoming and I didn’t drink alcohol.
Great experience and very helpful and friendly staff
Excellent
The only the only thing I didn't like was the fact that there was $30 charge for parking which ended up costing $35 by the end of the program.
Good place to stay not eat
Check in was fast with great service…. Love their warm chocolate chip cookies. The room was clean with a super comfy bed. The restaurant was not great…expensive and overcooked food.
Location is the only thing this hotel has going for it. Beds were awful, very hard and very small, not clean, needs an upgrade! Breakfast not included and parking is $35 a night!!
Would stay here again
We stayed here for a concert we were attending, it was a nice hotel, very clean and close to the arena.
