Great location and property. The staff at this property is remarkable. Coco, Carmen and Daniela specifically took excellent care of us every day along with the kitchen staff, bar staff, maintenance and housekeeping. My only advice is to remove seaweed more often from the beach and be prepared to possibly not have hot water at times but this is México and these things happen. Other than that we had an excellent stay. Thank you Hotel Zomay.❤️

Staff were all wonderful and very helpful. Very cute and have character. But if you are looking for luxurious hotel; this will not be a place for you. I will definitely come back here.

Quiet area and very friendly staff.

Great hotel. You can walk to the beach and bar from your room. AC and fan were sufficient. Room was spacious enough for your suitcases and bags. Wish I’d stayed longer.

howl rooms are very badly built, some walls are not even closed off, the bed is hard, pillows are the cheapest, do not stay here

Zomay was a lovely place to stay, the staff was super accommodating and helpful, they had affordable tours and transfers. We did go in rainy season which I would not recommend because the town does not have the infrastructure and gets flooded which makes it hard to enjoy. But Zomay was super helpful in navigating the rain and even offered us free drinks to apologize for it which they can’t control the weather lol !

Initially our AC didn’t work. Eventually they moved us to another room (a downgrade from bungalow to standard double). They never offered to reimburse the price difference. Later we requested it and they said they couldn’t reimburse us, but could credit us 2 pizzas and 4 drinks at the restaurant. Breakfast was supposed to be included, but was very limited on day when gas was broken. No offer to reimburse or credit lunch later. Our new room had a light hanging solely by a cord and detached from the ceiling (dangerous and we hit our heads a few times but dealt with it because we didn’t want to move again). The bathroom had a rotting door to the outside merely secured by a small latch lock (any knowing person could easily get in). The shower was dirty, with sand on the walls and floor. One day there was a scorpion in the shower (probably got in via holes in bottom of rotting door). Safe was not mounted One day I watched them clean our room from a far. The cleaner left the door open while she walked to another building to get new sheets and towels. Anyone could have come in and she let in mosquitoes. They are not good about picking up the dog poop by the bar and on the walkway to rooms. The floor of the outdoor rinse showers are rotted and dangerous for little kids. The restaurant staff were amazing. The food and drinks were excellent. The beach was clean and nice for swimming with little kids. Great place to watch sunset. Go there to swim and eat, but do not stay there.

Great and convenient, great staff

The hotel was beautiful, and the grounds were well kept. We did run into a few issues during our 5 day stay. First issue was when going down to the included breakfast it was very long wait times just to even get a menu when only one other group was there most days. Next issue would be while sitting on the beach random tourist will come into the beach chair areas and take over, we noticed if you didnt get a chair shortly after breakfast it would be difficult, also during our 5 day stay not once were we offered a menu for food or drinks while at the beach chairs. I appeared if you were wearing the hotels wristbands you didnt get offered the restaurants menu. The beach bar with the swings was never opened during our stay, appeared to be renovating.

We really loved our stay here. The hotel is so beautiful, clean, and you can easily reach the city center within minutes! Would recommend this to anyone. We will be back! Thank you again :)!

The problem is not the hotel that was fine. BUT EXPEDIA THEIR BILLING WAS $800 PESOS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN WHAT I WAS CHARGED BY THE HOTEL . SHAME ON YOU EXPEDIA.!!!!

The property had just gone through a severe tropical storm. The first days the normal services were scattered and somewhat disjointed but the staff worked diligently to get things back to normal and were extremely attentive to our needs. Overall it was a great stay and by the end of the trip everything was back to normal. Vanessa was incredible at caring for our every need.

The property is under construction, so you can hear so much noise starting early in the morning. Other than that the staff was great! Check in was fast.

We loved the Zomay!

I came with a group of friends and we loved our stay at the Zomay! The staff was absolutely wonderful and the location was incredible. By far, the best beach and water to any hotel close to town. The drinks and food were fantastic and loved the vibe! Breakfast was also lovely and hearty. The views never got old… The accommodations were basic/simple. My one suggestion to the hotel would be to replenish the towels (they have seen better days) offer better toiletries. Otherwise, it was great!

Had a great time at Zomay, would like to plan a return visit. The staff was kind, the location is excellent. Be nice to have seen a deadbolt lock on the door to the room instead of a push button lock door knob. These are very easily broken into with a plastic card.

The bathroom was terreble and smells nasty

Holbox is stunning and great if you just want to stay at the beach all day. The hotel itself is very barebones. This is not a kid friendly hotel and even if I had just come alone or with my husband I would have been pretty disappointed with the accommodations. The location is fantastic and if you are just looking for a place to rest your head, this will absolutely do. The travel to get to Holbox isn’t easy, so the expectation was that the hotel would be “worth it”. It wasn’t. Pros: The beach access is perfect, the hotel food and bar were great. Staff was kind. Cons: sleeping situation was tough, our room had trouble getting cleaned regularly and obviously the water situation is really tough.

We loved this property— the inviting entrance, cozy hammocks, festive lighting, colorful murals, beachfront location, and excellent bar!

The hotel itself is right on the beach and the beach is amazing. The hotel didn’t have many amenities, they didn’t even have a hairdryer. I asked and they literally only had 2 for the entire hotel. The food the hotel offers is very pricey and it was not good at all. After the first day we had to walk out to the plaza to eat Lunch and dinner because the food was not good. We only ate breakfast there because it was included not because of the quality. So if you go here for location then I guess it’s fine

Had a lovely stay!!

I had never stayed in a hotel like this before. It was very, clean, neat, and a romantic setting. The only things I didn't like was that the misquitos were horrible, no tv, no radio/alarm clock and shower sprayed everywhere. The front desk and check in was nice and welcoming. The breakfast was good, along with the beautiful view while dinning.

Staff friendly. Room clean. The bathroom faucet was a conch shell instead of conventional faucet head. Quaint but it dispensed only a trickle of water. Water wise I guess. Loved that they have a filtered water dispenser near the front desk. In a place where you’re supposed to drink bottled water everywhere you go, it’s nice to have an eco friendly option and spare the planet from more plastic waste. I wish more hotels would do that in Mexico. The beachfront property is coveted and the beach bar is super fun.

It was good!

Pro- on the beach, friendly staff, good food, close to the restaurants, not crowd, walkable distance to the main street and restaurants. Cons- there wasn't always hot water in the shower, loud music from other properties until late.

The location was great right in the center of everything. It’s on beach and the beach is beautiful. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Great customer service. It was a group of 9 of us and we all had a great time. Holbox is gorgeous, we will definitely be back and stay at this hotel 😊

Nice staff, pretty bare bones.

Overall a good beach hotel. Some deferred maintenance and the kitchen supplies were a little lacking (limited glasses, no bottle opener/corkscrew or in room potable water . Easy to get sand on the floors so a couple of thin rugs or a doormat/foot bath to wipe feet are definitely needed . One bed was comfortable and one was terrible. Only a sheet provided on the beds but they provide blankets on request. Breakfast was decent and decent choices. Beach atmosphere was one of the best and not much seaweed when lots of other places were swamped with it. Would stay again but some simple improvements would go a long way !

Great staff, average hotel

Service was very nice, the staff was wonderful and accommodating, so, a great plus. The room; although I was told I was upgraded? it was very spartan and not what I would call "safe" (although in Holbox, no need to worry there!). As you can see from the pictures, there are no drawers or dresser, and the patio doors did not lock. And of course, the unsealed front door and patio doors. This is an average hotel complex in Holbox, adjacent hotels have sandier beaches, and the street entrance was a muddy pond our entire 6 day stay. Staff was great.

Really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Zomay! Food and drinks at the hotel were great and the staff was very kind and polite. The live music and sunsets at the property was a nice surprise. Beds and rooms were great. Love the island life and slow pace that comes with it. Thanks for a great trip Zomay. Would definitely come back.

Warm shower only for one person at a time. Clogged drains. High priced for what is being offered. No good reason to return.

Nice hotel, friendly service but the whole experience was ruined by the annoying and terribly bad music played all day long at the restaurant and beach bar. Also construction workers were working all over the place during my stay. Very difficult place to relax enjoy the view on the ocean. Sad !

Nice affordable beachfront

Fun beachfront hotel at the far end of the hotel strip. Great place to watch the sunset and nice area to swim. Not as much on the main beach but also nice because it feels off the tourist strip a bit. A lot of younger people from the nearby hostel hanging out and great live music every night at the bar. The breakfast was excellent every morning and lovely grounds. Room had a sandy floor when we arrived and water did not work well for 2 days (cold shower first day and water stopped all together second day) Finally fixed by 3rd shower. No water in the room and very minimal but comfy bed. Reception was helpful with getting Covid tests in our room.

Attentive graceful and kind staffs, they make the experience top nosh...smiling from dawn to dust. Epic young team working really hard! Ground where hotel is situated is Epic right next to the beach and less than 10min walk to all restaurants and amenities

Relaxing and Amazing stay!

Perfect location on the beach and close to downtown. Amazing drinks and great food! We would recommend and stay again. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and felt like a treehouse bungalow.

Zomay = Perfect Sunsets!

Zomay is an Amazing beachfront hotel in Holbox! The location is absolutely perfect for sunsets (very important) and a very easy 2 minute walk to town. The food is great, bar is very cool, and staff is kind and thorough and wonderful. Thank you Zomay!

This property is amazing. Not too far from the epicenter of town, just a couple blocks down, but far enough to be a tiny bit quieter than the center. The staff is very helpful and they will accommodate most requests. They even got me a professional massage in my room and set the ambience. Restaurant and bar staff were very nice and attentive. Wifi is spotty, signal for phone is very low but that is the entire island. Just in case you want a workcation. All in all was very happy with our stay! Thank you Zomay!

Property is beautiful and centrally located. You are right on the beach which is amazing. Truly the perfect spot for watching the sunsets. The staff is delightful and helpful. Would absolutely recommend staying here.

Everything you hope for in an island hotel. View of the water through palm trees and palapas as we walked to our room. The room was clean, spacious and plenty of area to place our bags without it feeling crowded. The beds are comfortable and it is quiet at night. The staff is so warm and amazing. They are helpful and friendly but not constantly bugging you either when you are relaxing in the palapas. The perfect amount of attention. The food at the restaurant was delicious and the presentations are pretty, too. Even as a vegetarian I had enough choice to make me happy. The veggie rolls were really yummy and the rest of the sushi looked really good, too. The beach is clean and lovely. It is an easy walk down the beach to get to the center of town. The best part was the entertainment that happened in the afternoons & evenings as people started to gather to see the sunset. We had an amazing drumming band one night and acrobats another day. I would definitely come back again as we had a wonderful time here.

Property nice, the beach its so beautiful

Reserved a bungalow for the weekend. Each has its own rooftop patio area for extending the conversations under the stars. Beautiful beach property.. many locals came to beach side bar to watch the perfect sunset from the property. Lush palm trees overhead provided ample shade, sandy beach extends all through the property. Check in was casual and friendly, checkout was the same. Chill and relaxed space, very soothing. Pinto Coco and bioluminescence were 10 min golf cart ride away. We will be back and highly recommend for those look g to enjoy beach calm without tech interruptions.

I wish I could give this place 4.5 stars, but that isn't an option. It only loses 0.5 points because of noise level. Constant, loud construction going on early in the morning so you can‘t sleep in, plus can hear everything in rooms next door. Also, no door tags for housekeeping vs do not disturb, so housekeeping staff kept knocking on the door every day to inquire while we were in there. Having said the above, I will stay there again in a heartbeat. Everything else was a treat! Th staff if fantastic- the only time I have experienced island people moving with urgency. Clean hotel, great and spacious room, beautiful beach, excellent location, great beach bar with the best view of the sunset. Bring earplugs to sleep because it is worth it.

Best Place in holbox hands down

Definitely the best place to stay in Holbox. Only downside was the lack of a swimming pool, however, the place itself is located strategically close to downtown but far enough (2 blocks) so you won't get any noise and have a peaceful night sleep. Our room was recently being renovated, but we didn't expect it to be like that, so it was no problem, we had a nice and large terrace with a hammock and a table with 2 chairs with a newly built tub, which wasn't working because it had just been installed. I would stay here in a heartbeat

Five day stay

This is one of the best beachfront hotels on the island. They clean up the seaweed each morning and have great drinks and food at the beachfront bar and restaurant. The rooms are quirky and some are warmer than others at night, depending on the windows. Comfy beds!

Beautiful location and surroundings. Shower did not work- asked to fix it. It worked for a few minutes then back to no pressure or hot water again the next shower. We were given the room next to reception. Bit noisy but still a good location and decent rooms. Lovely breakfast and staff

Biggest disappointment was that the room was sold as having a Seaview and it most definitely did not, I was unhappy as this was the reason I booked the room. Room was nice, but needed more lighting best bed to read and we often didn't have hot water. In addition, the water pressure of the shower was poor. Staff were excellent and attentive

We had such a great stay! Would definitely stay at Zamay again. Isla Holbox is my new favorite spot in Mexico.

Fantastic beach front location which is the perfect place to catch the sunset in the evening. A short 5min walk to the main square in Holbox. Nice, traditional style room with a relaxing hammock on the balcony. Amazing staff who were always helpful and friendly. Big thanks to Sofi, Mica, Tamina, Sami, José and everybody else for a wonderful stay!

A perfect combination, a little of everything

The hotel has great location, close to the center but not inside of it. Front beach with a nice view of the ocean, and in the end of one of the small concrete walls, so you feel with less neighbors. You could walk for 3 km to the left to the Coco's bay or 6km to the right to the sand bar, chill at the beach, take pictures of there hamacas on the water andhave a cocktail at sunset. Restaurant and bar service right on the beach beds with great view, with load music. The beach bar can get busy on the afternoons. The rooms are small, but perfect. A/C, small fridge, security box, slow internet (that could be a good thing), hotel water but can run slow and really nicely decorated. Friendly staff and good breakfast. I could definitely stay here again, not too fancy or snob, and super relax.

The room we were in could do with a bit of work but the location of this hotel is the best! The best spot on the beach and the hotel has lovely surroundings.

Great vibe

We had a fantastic time at Zomay and would highly recommend it. The staff were absolutely lovely and very accommodating throughout our stay. The hotel has a great vibe and is one of the most popular spots on the beach with people passing by due to the fantastic bar. In particular Eduardo who makes the best cocktails on the island! It also has one of the best spots to watch the sunset! The rooms are simple in style, my only qualm would be that they could be better lit (we only had a tiny window so required more lights in the room). That being said we had a brilliant stay!

The property had a great atmosphere and vibe. The seating at the beach was perfect with recliners and great shade coverage. The bar on the beach with the swings was intimate and very beachy.

Zomay was the perfect getaway- the hotel a Had all the things we needed for a relaxing trip. Great location, great bar and the nicest crew.

A charming property right on the best part of Holbox beach, this hotel is simple and welcoming. The staff are friendly and the restaurant/bar is great. It's within walking distance to town and the best restaurants, but far enough away to not be in the thick of the noise. We had some minor water issues (shower was cold/not working) but the staff were sift to fix it - and besides, we were in beach vacation-mode anyways. Highly recommend!

Really liked the beach bar, the hammocks over the ocean, the food and the location. Liked our room, basically happy with everything will return.

The staff—Nassima, Dani, Alex and all—were lovely and warm. The sunsets and location were heaven. The hammocks were the perfect place to take a nap. Close enough to town to walk, but it’s away from the noise and clamor and a little piece of paradise.

We had an Amazing stay at hotel zomay. It was a family of 5 plus our dog. Great service food drinks and Hot water for the shower. Great location Would definitely stay again.

the beach is not cleaned and full off algies and dirt, friendly staff, we got the worst room next to the entrance - noisy, full of mosquitos, internet and safe did not work, not nice in general and not worth the money we spent!

The best!, we thought we got lucky with our first 4 days in a great hotel downtown but then went to this gorgeous cabin by the beach and wow! a much better experience, STAY here by the beach. its cozy, quiet, bed and pillows very comfortable. great beach! good open restaurant w awesome food and a fun and mellow bar where you meet awesome locals and traveling fellows. I wish we stay there the whole time. only one thing could be improved and its easy to do so :) please add a cover to place in the shower bc sometimes it would smell, normal of course, so easy fix! the manager and personal from the hotel are great friendly and super nice you truly will enjoy the island experience, can walk everywhere or take a fun motor-taxi, so much fun. thank you for a wonderful time definitely will come back heck I'll live there if I could : )

We loved the place and everyone was great. It's an authentic Mexican hotel. Our palapa was perfect. The location is fabulous and the bar was an excellent place to watch the sunset. Easy walking distance to town. We enjoyed the animal rescue center across the street. The hammocks in the water were so relaxing. Food at the restaurant was terrific.

Great beach but bad shower

Location and beach was great. The beach area of the hotel was excellent. The shower was bad and we could not take showers. Then they fixes it but it was still not so good. We found a scorpion in our bed in the middle of the night. Good we woke up and didn't get hurt by it Serverice was very nice

Hotel property offers a range of shade, sun, hammocks and beach chairs to spend the day in. It is close to town and good food choices, but away from the late night party noise. A few rooms have no AC.

Good location

Lovely beach and coconut grove, good beach bar, but their restaurant was closed. Room was OK but a little expensive for size and amenities.

Quiet retreat on the beach, but rustic

Pros: Right on beach. On far west end of beach, so less through traffic.Very quiet at night. Good lighting in bungalow. Cute clean bungalow. Beds and maid service are good. Few bugs get inside. Beautiful, well tended common area with hammocks. Beach is calm, clean (not all are), and amazing. Beach bar on your doorstep (if you want to meet others not staying at hotel). Gathering place to watch sunset for a crowd every evening. Cons: I was not given the room I booked and paid for through Expedia. I booked the larger beachside bungalow. It was occupied when I arrived by a larger party. They put us in the smaller bungalow set back from the beach. They offered no apology, explanation, or compensation. They said since I booked through Expedia there was nothing they could do. Accomodation was fine, but I paid a premium for it. Rooms here are a bit expensive for what you get. There are no restaurant services. No vending machines. Not even a morning coffee to roll you out onto the beach. Nearest restaurant one block away for breakfast. No hot water either. Not enough beach chair cushions to go around. Minor stuff, but I expect these things for the price. Beach gets crowded late afternoon with others not staying there but using beach bar. It is a popular and lively bar, which is not really a con. Summary: This place has a niche in the middle. Better and quieter than staying in town, but not nearly as plush and appointed as Hotel Mawimbi or Casa de lasTortugas on eastern end of beach

Great location not so great room.

Place is going to seed. Poor lighting. Toilet needed almost daily repair. Raw sewerage near the beach. Didn't have ink for their printer. No credit cards. Room was basic. Charmless. Had a small kitenette here but no utensils. Beach, grounds and location was excellent.

Affordable Luxury by the Beach

What was good- Daily Service, beach area, definitely the staff are working hard on landscaping. What could have used improvment- Ceiling fan in the room was our of order, the lamp was hanging by conduit alone, which definitely was third world construction. I hear several cocounts fall nearby, which made me wonder about the safety of walking under them

The beach is amazing. If you're looking for some time with yourself is the perfect spot. Room was clean, staff very friendly and the service is very personalized. The internet was kind of slow, but it's just an island, not their fault.

Couldnt have the time to see or enjoy the hotel. But the room wasn't very clean and the next day i felt like having bed bugs

We wish we had stayed longer in HOLBOX......

The hotel was wonderful upon arrival. The receptionist provided great customer service from the beginning. Every one at the hotel was very welcoming. Luckily, it is walking distance from the center of town and had a great little breakfast place down the street, "Le Jardin". I wish I would have stayed longer than just the 2 days, but now I understand why they call this island the "Plan Ruiner". The other travelers I talked to admitted to staying a few extra nights regardless of their future plans on that vacation. Highly recommended.

Good location but a bit overpriced

Nice people but left a lot to be desired. Mark up on everything is a bit steep. Dark rooms, hotplate but zero utensils. Had to wrestle a 5 gallon jug of drinking water, could at least have a dispenser. Luke warm water with no pressure. Call your own cab and rent bikes in town and you'll save money. It's nice to be close to the beach but there are plenty of other options. All Inclusive Price without the amenities

Wonderful location and exceptional service.

mariana, the manager, was one of the best I have come across. She made the resort perfect. Ever question was answered and every issue resolved efficiently. She was a real asset. The resort was lovely. The best beach area on the strip. The room was clean and comfortable. Hot water was appreciated after a long day. Everything was great.

I love the cabins and the beach

I love this place was so perfect. Just minutes from downtown. Mariana and the other girl where very nice and helpful in everything. The cabin close to be the beach was perfect. The beach was nice and clean. The cabin was clean and nice. Love it !!

Absolument magnifique. Séjour parfait. Equipe exceptionnelle. Arturo est un hôte parfait, très a l'écoute . Accueil parfait. L'hôtel possède la plus belle plage privée de cette partie de l'île. C'est grand spacieux, il y a de la place pour chacun avec de l'intimité.

Amazing location

Excellent location, directly by the beach, and only a few minutes to all restaurants, and the small downtown. We loved the beach area, the breakfast restaurant and the beachbar. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We booked a "3 island sailing-trip" through the reception, and everything was perfect, including pick-up. The rooms were okay, we had a nice balcony with furniture and a hammock. The rooms were old, the walls really needed new paint, and bathrooms could also need a renewal. But it was okay and also clean.

La estancia en el hotel fue muy agradable, el personal siempre fue muy atento y dispuesto a resolver cualquier inquietud o brindar apoyo para contratar algún tour, taxi o bicicleta. El hotel está muy limpio y la playa es excelente, tiene una vista para el atardecer magnífica. Sin duda repetiría mi estancia.
