Good for a nights sleep.
For what it costs, I give it high marks. Don't expect alot, looks old, but it is clean and confortable for a nighys sleep. Not a place to stay if you expect to be spending significant time in the room.
The great thing about the hotel is the location. BUT, no elevator, hotel interior needs to be renewed, room looks very old with bad walls, old furniture and not so clean feeling.
The location of this property is excellent, walking distance to all restaurants , coffee shops, stores and shoppi gshopping boutiques. Staff are very friendly & helpful.
Good
This hotel need new furniture and remodeling
This property is completely closed to some kind of cancellation. It's not worth going through everything I've been through. Don't waste your time booking with them because it's clear that they have no idea about the customer service concept.
Please think twice before you booked with this property
Pictures are deceiving. STAY AWAY!
This place had no hot water. Bathroom was smelly and moldy. We booked 2 nights and didn't even stay for the 1st night. It looked so rundown it was scary. Area where hotel is located is very good but the hotel was not. Lobby in the second floor, the hotel lobby made us wait 45 minutes, our room was not ready. SO MANY THINGS WRONG WITH THIS HOTEL!
u learn something new everyday. had to use a squeegee after shower.
To much noise
If you want a better place to stay, you need to have better coffee. For the rest: excellent low budget hotel
Sad to say the the only reason I'd recommend this place is purely on location. This place could be a so much more. Dirty fridge that the seel had broken on. Dirty carpets. A balcony door that you couldn't open from the outside. Hot water only coming from the bathroom sink. Toilet seat needed replacing as well as drainage for the shower. Fire alarm went off early hours of this morning. No one seemed to have a clue on what they should be doing. Staff not trained in these scenarios. (Not their fault, it's a fault on management)
Great option for tourists
A very decent option for tourist travelers and great for the price. Awesome location, easy access to public transportation.
The hotel was in a great location and the price was good but the rooms were small and decor was dated. I’m also not sure how clean it was. . I was disappointed there was not any breakfast. The people were very friendly though.
Great location but hotel is very run down ,ok for one/2 nights on a budget
Bad smell from drain
When we enter the room there is a bad smell from the shower drain, feels like that smell will stay on our clothes once we get outside the room. The carpet was wet also.
Not recommended hotel.
The hotel is very very old and Not maintained. Comfortable area. but if you suffer from noises at night, definitely don’t go there.
Hotel in a great location but not worth the price.
The room is too small even for the price I paid. Bed not for a couple. The shower - the douche head does not turn. The air conditioner works at half power. Great location, but not parking at all.
It all looks good in the picture, but horrible customer service. Do not reserve at this property, you will find yourself disappointed.
Very close to Ben Yehuda market and excellent eating. Also walking distance to Jaffa Gate of old city.
Shame on Hotel.com
I wanted to cancel this booking but, I was not able to. My daughter was too scared to visit Israel after the 3 January 2020, United States drone strike near the Baghdad International Airport that targeted and killed Iranian major general Qasem Soleimani of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. But, that reason was not good enough for Hotels.com
i did not like the place. the property needs decorating. broken drawers in our room and shower was leaking.
Great location but noisy in evening. Simple but suffice to breakfast.
The room was very small but clean, could do with updating. The breakfast was lovely and the staff very helpful and friendly.
Room was adequate. We arrived well before checkin time but could use the wifi there and could leave our cases there while we went exploring. Only stayed 1 night before leaving on a 3 day tour of Jordan, before returning to Zion for one more night. Hotel let us leave luggage behind while we were in Jordan.
Location is great. Nesr the old city and very near the tram line. Many bars, restaurants and coffee shops around. Good breakfast and very good free wifi.
Great staff, location
Extremely friendly staff. The location was great. The breakfast was great. They should invest to make rooms a bit more modern.
Great value!
Nice older hotel right off Jaffa Rd, close to the Old City, near shops, restaurants and bars. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Stay includes Israeli-type breakfast each day. Room has en suite bathroom. Only concern we had was proximity to bars that host live music that was VERY LOUD from 9 to midnight every night except Friday (Shabbat). Would stay here again next time!
Friendly staff, clean room, super location.Easy access to visiting sites.
In a good location. The room was pretty good. There was water bottle on the floor when we arrived. There were some dirt in corners. The staff WIfi was very good. The best thing was breakfast.
Mouldy room
Room condition not fit for rats. Severe mould on ceiling and walls. Curtains and carpet smelt musty. Bathroom small but ok for one night stay.
Hotel in the right place at the right price
Good hotel good price good location
Nice
Very good hotel for price. Helpful.
Best receptionist I have met. Great advice, super friendly. Made the whole experience much better!
Only good thing about this hotel is the location. 10 minute walk to Jerusalem old city. Good restaurants all around. Shadi the front lobby person was very very helpful. Super small room and bathroom. You are only paying for the location. Hotel room and comfort was ok, not that great.
Good location and very good breakfast. We had booked an economy double room but were disappointed with it. Was clean but very small and shabby. We immediately asked for change and were prepared to pay extra, but despite being there for full week nothing happened.
The food at morning breakfast was excellent. We enjoyed the fact the hotel was very centrally located. We had access to light rail, bus and other means of transportation. Restaurants, shops, bakeries were all easily accessible within walking distance. The manager at the Zion Hotel was very hospitable and courteous and helpful.
nice hotel, near many shops and transport
The room was comfortable, although we had difficulties with the shower as the water was running everywhere.
Terrible. Poor quality and tatty roomsTerrible. Poor quality and tatty roomsTerrible. Poor quality and tatty roomsTerrible. Poor quality and tatty rooms
Historic hotel near historic area but very old
I think this hotel was built centuries ago so it has a neat nastalgia (warning no elevator, lug your luggage up the stairs). And it is steps from Jaffa street and Ben Yahuda street. This is a fairly lively street with lots of parties in the streets many nights. It’s a little loud if you’re an early bird. But the only real drawback, and it’s significant enough to mark it down a couple notches, was the hotel seems to have a lot of cigarette smoke much of the time. It could be from guests smoking on the balcony, which is allowed there. Or it could be staff smoking in the laundry room. There was a pipe leak but they fixed that. The staff was very helpful. If you’re not allergic to smoke it would be a fine place.
Nice location, very close to the centre of town. The staff were extremely helpful and the breakfast was very tasty. Hot and cold drinks are free throughout your stay 24 hours.
Little value for money
Great location, however the room condition was old. In the bathroom - the toilet, sink and bath tub were rough. Breakfast and service was satisfactory. Nevertheless, you can find hotels that deliver more value/money with the same price.
Pros: location, breakfast, very friendly people, refrigerator in the room, price. The night life around never stop. Cons: Hotel is in the middle of pedestrians Zone - taxi or other car cannot come there. There’s no elevator - you should bring your luggage to your room by stairs. The night life around never stop.
Center Location and good value
Very good location and with breakfast. Easy to use metro line, very convenient and good value.
Cheap but so central
Very basic, no frills but in the tourist district of shops. Walking distance to old Jerusalem. Main market just up the road...and the marzipan bakery! Moshiko falafels just out side
Old and tired hotel with uninterested staff
The hotel is old and tired. The restaurant with umbrellas in the pic is not even connected to it. So the breakfast is served in the "lobby", which is the only ok space in the "hotel". Rooms are small, beds are rock hard, linens are old and sometimes torn. Staff was helpful with the info. But when I asked for additional blankets to make my bed softer I was told: "There's 4 people, you have 4 blankets. I can't give you any more." Breakfast menu was very basic by Israel standard. No omelet, just boiled eggs, jellies in packs, 2 green salads, tuna salad, tea, coffee, cocoa. All pretty low quality. No pastries, just bread. But after guests were gone staff enjoyed their daily omelette or fried eggs with veggies! On top of everything my wife's phone was stolen from the room. Basically you get what you pay for. I'd never stay in Jerusalem in hotel cheaper than $160 per night again!
Heart of downtown
The best area to stay in Jerusalem. Middle of everything. Old city 10min walking distance. Very safe area. Friendly staff, very helpful. Excellent breakfast. Condition and cleaning is ok, nothing bad. Dont forget you are not in Switzerland, also this is a cheap hotel. More like *** hotel in Usa standard. Again, Location is excellent!
Good location, friendly staff, breakfast ok, good wifi.
Good location and clean rooms
It’s fine if you wanna spend the night there, but there’s nothing special. But since is not very expensive, you can not have big expectations.
Good budget hotel
Great location. Friendly stuff. No elevator. Rooms are clean but a bit run-down. No access with the car (hotel is located in pedestrian zone).
Great stay, friendly staff, perfect location. Would stay there again.
Great value, central hotel
The hotel room itself is quite basic, there is no double glazing and it is not accessible by road. Those are the only downsides. The staff were fantastic. Friendly and welcoming, gave you an introduction to the city and whatever you needed they would help, Tariq was lovely, the staff remember your room number. The hotel is next door to a fantastic jazz bar. It is 15 minutes walk from the old city. Recommend this hotel for staff and location. Would stay there again. Thank you.
Contuinued broken toilet
The toilet in our room conitinued to break after one flush. We used the toilet in three other rooms in three days.
Great location and hotel staff. The hotel staff Jarek helped me carry my luggage up the stairs to my room and down when checking out. This service overcame the shortcoming of not having an elevator in the hotel. Breakfast was good and hotel is cosy and comfortable. It's great value for money.
Good location!
It's in downtown Jerusalem, close to the Old City. Breakfast was good, the hotel staff was friendly. I would recommend this hotel. All you need is a good place to sleep!
Great hotel for ease of access to Old City.
This hotel is located in a great place outside the western part of the old city. Walking (15 min.) to and from the old city is a pleasure because Jaffa Road is closed down to vehicle traffic. The road has been converted for the tram system and pedestrians, which means walking does not confine you to small sidewalks as you have access to the entire road, as long as the tram is not passing by. Safe to walk at any time of the day or night. The lobby and desk is one story up, the front entrance is always locked. 24 hour tea and Turkish coffee available, and staff always at the desk. All staff members are very friendly and easy to relate to. I left my bags right next to the desk for 8 hours while I went out after checking out of the room. Great breakfasts every morning from 8 to 10 and seating for about 30 people at a time, so you never feel crowded or rushed.
Budget hotel close to the old city
Stayed at Zion Hotel 5-12 April 2017. Things to be wary of: It's in a pedestrian precinct so you'll have to carry/wheel your cases at least 100m from the nearest road. It's noisy at night, lots of bars and restaurants right outside. The rooms are VERY basic, small, no hairdryers and very dated. If they offer you room 309 refuse it!! It's an attic room, tiny, TV is held together with tape and the plug socket flashes blue sparks. We had to stay in it for 2 days before another twin became vacant. Really not good enough even for a budget hotel. The breakfast is interesting 😳, you'll be fine if you like olives, tomato and cucumber salad, spicy dips, plain yoghurt etc. We had hard boiled eggs and toast every day. There is no kettle in the room but tea/coffee/cold water are provided free in the dining room. The staff are friendly enough but try very hard to sell trips, they are not too keen to resolve complaints either, quite aggressive in wanting to know what's wrong with the room. Rooms at the rear are less than 2m from an apartment block under construction, dust comes in to the room and it's noisy during the day. There is a mosquito problem if you have the window open so take repellent. I got 15 bites on the first night. Positive things: hotel is close to the tram and the old city. It's relatively clean. Air con works well. Free beverages Jerusalem is amazing but just be aware that everyone is out to scam you, it's incredibly expensive, especially food and taxis.
The Crummiest Hotel I've Ever Stayed In
No joke, this is by far the worst hotel I've stayed in at hotel prices. I literally felt as though I was in a run-down motel in the middle of the worst neighborhood. I chose the hotel because of it's close proximity to the Old City, but it wasn't worth it. I honestly wish I could get my money back because it was so terrible: shower head falling off the wall, tiles coming up from the bathroom floor, TV in my room didn't work and staff didn't care. Also, if you're sensitive to noise, do not stay here. Besides the music on the street below (which ends at 12-midnight) you will have to dal with cleaning crews doing overnight cleanup in some of the stores below. I found it difficult to sleep. In the end I swallowed the cost and moved to a different hotel for the last 4 days of my week-long trip. Really upset and disappointed.
Good location
This hotel is in a very good location. The Old City is a 5 to 10 minute walk down the road and the central station a similar distance in thhe opposite direction. Decor is a bit tired but the room was clean and the staff could not have been more helpful. A very pleasant place to stay but as it is in quite a vibrant area it can be a bit noisy at night.
Saved by the location
The hotel holds a lot of promise considering the excellent location. However, the carpet was filthy, doorknobs were somewhat broken, TV's sound cannot be adjusted and wifi was terrible. There is live jazz (thank goodness!) music almost every night from the resto downstairs so if you are sensitive to sound, do not come here. They also have a shortage of towels (seriously?!).
Great location
Close to centre 10 min walking distance to Old city
Very good location
The location is great, just 10-15 to all touristic places . I didn't have to use any transport to visite the main important touristic sites, everything was at walking distance . The hotel was not great as facilities and room confort. The balcony door didn't close properly so we had to put a chair in front of it to keep it closed. The bath was not great. Furniture was old and also not in good conditions. The breakfast was poor. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Location
Hotel was ok, it's incredibly well located but breakfast is dissapointing
Alright
Located in Modern Jerusalem just off the Jaffa Road, the Zion hotel is excellently placed. There are some decent bars next door, however it IS noisy at night, so ear plugs are advised if you want an early evening. The breakfast was OK, slightly limited choice. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The rooms could do with a spruce up, but on the whole i would recommend the Zion Hotel if you are on a budget and the location is great with many landmarks within walking distance.
Perfect location in the heart of Jerusalem
Stayed for 8 nights in August 2016. The hotel is in excellent location, 15 minutes from the Old City (walking), 10 minutes from Mahane Yehuda Market. Walking distance to Central Bus Station. Very polite, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Breakfast was included in the package. Air-conditioning worked well, wi-fi was a little slow but adequate. Will go back to the hotel.
Treated like family...
I came to Israel and could have stayed at any hotel. Instead I stayed at a place that treated me like a family member. The staff and management at the Hotel Zion were incredible, just salt of the earth people who made my stay more than I expected. Why? Because they actually care about their guests, taking time to help schedule tours, give directions and suggesting places to see and tours to take. They made it easy to feel at home, nice cold water in the lobby, relaxing and very comfortable sofas and chairs, awesomely fast WIFI, and a beautiful Israeli breakfast every morning with a great selection of foods, juices, coffees, teas, and good company. To many people will be critical of a hotel that's not perfect, the building is over 200 years old and has such a warm welcoming vibe to it. Is it fancy? No! Is it spotless? No! Is the bed comfortable? Incrediablely! Was the staff quick to assist with any requests? Without hesitation! Was my room cleaned everyday? Very well by very thoughtful service staff who smiled and always kept your towels, soap and shampoo stocked. Look! You need to get out and see the old city, you need to enjoy the awesome nightlife, the cafes, the restruant's and street food, the local vibe is alive and great to be around. If I had a million dollars in my pocket I'd still stay at the Hotel Zion, because they know their guests and remember your room numbers and are a joy to talk with and most of all they treat their guests like family. Best time ever!
Nice hotel close to restaurants and tram.
Overall this hotel was OK. The kitchen staff was very helpful. It was difficult getting my gear up the 3 flights of stairs. On the evening after Shabbot, the nightlife extended until 3-4 in the a.m.. I had a hard time sleeping that night. I would recommend this hotel to people under the age of 55.
Good Location
I wanted to be within walking distance to Ben Yehuda and the Old City. This hotel was ideal for this. Main problem was the many stairs. Not good for bad backs etc.
standard hotel in good place
good for the price
THE WORST TRAVEL EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE .
AFTER 30 MIN. AFTER WE ARRIVED I JUST CANCELED AND MOVED TO ANOTHER HOTEL. IN MY OPINION THIS HOTEL HAS NO PLACE ON THE MARKET. DIRTY, FILTHY DISCUSTING.
Close to the Old City
This hotel sits in the middle of Ben Yehuda boulevard, so a taxi cannot just drop you off there. So make sure you know beforehand exactly where you are! In some ways it is nice because there is not a lot of traffic, there are a lot of shops on Ben Yehuda, it's close to Jaffa where you can get on a train, and it's about a 15 minute walk to the Old City. Don't except a fancy pants hotel, but it was fine for a crashing place while we were busy and out and about. Most of the staff was very helpful and can help you get around.
Great location
The hotel is very well located. 3 minutes walking to/from the train stop and 8-10 minutes to/from the Old City. Nice area. Currency exchanges very close by as well
Ripped off at Hotel Zion... You've been warned!
we were double charged for our room due to an erroneous double booking via the Internet. When I presented the relevant paperwork detailing the error, management refused to refund us stating aggressively that all transactions are non- refundable. They showed no interest in trying to resolve the matter and to this date some three weeks after I trip we have not been reimbursed.
Rude staff, no parkng
I selected this property because of the location. We called ahead to check if parking was included and we were assured that the parking lot was right across the street. When we arrived at night in the rain we discovered that there was no parking lot. I explained that I was told that parking was available but nothing was done to correct the situation. The attendant was very rude and basically accused me of being a liar. We had to find a pay lot which ended up being an additional $15 a day. I would have definitely looked for other hotels had I known this. I know that parking is difficult in Jerusalem but I felt that we were deceived just so they would get the reservation. I was not offered anything in return for the inconvenience.
The main manager (maybe owner) was great! In fact, all the staff was great a besides the young guy that was kinda clueless. The other staff made up for it though. This is a perfect location Bc it's in the middle of a center. The room is small and outdated but clean. Area could be noisy Bc of the center and construction going on but overall it was okay for the price spent. There are no elevators but the staff is more than helpful with that.
Friendly Staff
The hotel was very basic, but the staff were lovely.
BREAKFAST CHANGE
IT WAS NICE AS USUAL. THEY CAN JUST DO SOMETHING ABOUT THEIR BREAKFAST. IN THE 5 YEARS THAT I STAYED THERE, THE BREAKFAST HAS NEVER CHANGED. EVEN IF IT IS JUST FORSERVING SCRAMBLED EGGS INSTEAD OF HARDBOILED EGGS.
Centrally located hotel in Jerusalem
Good value, basic, clean and comfortable accommodation in an excellent location in Jerusalem. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful.
Very noise in saturday night
Excellent place, but in the night thuersday and saturday very noise
A great find
This hotel is in a great location for exploring Jerusalem. The room was very clean, beds comfortable and breakfast tasty. All we could have asked for! Great value for money. We had a problem with our reservation, due to a fault with the web booking service not the hotel. I can't thank the hotel receptionist enough for the way he sorted things out for us. Great customer service.
Value for money to get a room in city centre
It is at the center of the city. the Mahaneh Market and the old city are within walking distance. Though the night life was thrive, the din would reduce by 11 pm and stop at midnight. There was no telephone in the room. We enjoyed the breakfast even though it was simple. The small dinning area was quite cosy. Though the wifi signal was weak in the room, I could use my tablet in the dinning area any time. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was a 5-storey building without a lift. When we checked out, the staff helped us to carry our luggage down from the 3rd floor where the reception area was. They helped to book the shared taxi.
May 2015
Great location. A little dated and not maintained that well. Would come back though.
Close to everything
The hotel is in great neighborhood, walking distance from major attractions.
Good location and good service.
Good service, helpful staff
Worst service I ever had in a hotel
After two days of my check in they decided I had to pay more because we were two people in the room so instead of charging me in the morning they call the cops 4:30am. Ofcourse the police agree with me but it was very annoying
Good location, bad hotel
The location is the only positive feature of Sion Hotel. The negatives are: 1. It's very basic and rooms are shabby/dirty; 2. Bathrooms are neglected; 3. No elevator - narrow, steep stairs and no help with your luggage; 4. Very noisy at night, every night, until the early hours; 5. Wi Fi doesn't work in rooms and is often down; 6. Nowhere to store your luggage - which is left in an open area if you want to check-out and explore; and 7. Staff are not very helpful - except when it comes to recommending their "friends" over-priced taxi/tours/guide services. I'm not staying here again - it's only one step from a dump.
It was great for the price
The restaurant downstairs had roaches but it served fantastic food the hotel was great for the price
One of the receptionists at night wasn't of much help when we had an administrative issue which would have been easy to solve.
It's a very nice but very simple hotel. Perfect if you just want somewhere affordable, clean, and simple to sleep at night during trips to Jerusalem.
Budget Hotel in very good location
Hotel staff was nice. Rooms are small but fine with mini frig and are pet friendly. Breakfast was good and healthy.
Great location
Noisy area but fine if you are not a light sleeper. Relatively inexpensive and in a super location.
Cannot beat this location!
For those who don't mind a bit of noise late at night (hotel is surrounded by bars and cafés in downtown Jerusalem, this place is ideal, esp. for those younger travelers on a budget. The place has has such a charming feel; I loved how I could open the windows and listen to the sounds of the city. No elevator though, which may be a deal-breaker for some. Free wifi in lobby, breakfast and coffee/tea provided. The staff were helpful and friendly. Room was clean. Would stay here again on future visit, no doubt.
Good place to stay in centre of Jerusalem
The hotel itself is located in the centre of Jerusalem, near Jaffa Street and a station of light rail that connects it with Central Bus Station, Old City, and Arab Bus Station near Damascus Gate. There are many shops and restaurants in the area, and the Old City can be reached on foot in reasonable time. Our room was clean and spacious, so was the bathroom, the hotel staff was kind and helpful and spoke excellent English. WiFi worked fine in our room. Our room was equipped with a fridge and air conditioning. We did not try the breakfast as we left early everyday, but from what we saw in the day of our arrival the selection of food was good. Please note though that the area might be a bit noisy in the night, due to number of clubs, bars and restaurants. However, we solved this small issue with earplugs. We enjoyed our stay there and we can recommend this hostel.
noisy and stuffy
an old stuffy hotel, the is on a busy street and the windows do not block the noise from the street, the music from the restaurants kept me up toll late hours of night.
Not new, but outstanding
Good hotel for it's price. I was there only 2 nights. This hotel is located in the heart of the Jerusalem. You may find everything in the surroundings even during Shabbat. Clean hotel, not new, but comfortable. Staff was very helpful. There were no problems with my stay in this hotel. Free coffee, tea, Wi-Fi etc., in cosy nook at "Your old granny's home" - styled reception.
Convenient
Friendly staff - plan on staying again in the future - great price in comparison to other hotels - security - nice breakfast - A/C not great. Noise from being downtown hotel in the mix of young who like to party into 3 AM.
Grimy
The location of the hotel was perfect, but the hotel itself could use a great renovation and thorough clean. It didn't look like our bathroom had been cleaned in a while which made me question the cleanliness the of bed. It was the cheapest hotel we could find for a convenient location, but it was definitely the dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed in. The hotel staff was very helpful though.
Good location
Stay was fine, as echoed in previous comments it is in a run down condition, but you would argue that this is reflected in its relative price position to other hotels in the area. A good breakfast. Area is noisy at night, but Israel operates a later evening lifestyle anyway so embrace that!
Reasonable budget hotel
Zion is located close to Jaffa Gate, so it's great location wise. However the rooms are very basic and unclean. It was okay for a budget hotel. Wouldn't recommend to stay for a longer period of time.

Great Hotel for Longer Stays in Jerusalem
Centrally by Jaffa St Center City located just 10 minutes walk from the Old City of Jerusalem. The hotel is conveniently surrounded by stores and restaurants with a secured locked entry code at the front entrance. The room has its own bathroom shower, heater, A/C, fridge, TV and WiFI. Coffee, tea, water is served at the lobby. The Checkin was smooth and manager responds to calls / text immediately. The rest of the hotel staff are friendly and professional. For a longer stay in Jerusalem, Zion Hotel has a great value for your money that I highly recommend this hotel.
