Excellent location. Right next to the metro. Very helpful staff. Breakfast buffet is extensive. Recommend heading to the breakfast place before 8:30 to get an excellent spot and avoid the high rush. Breakfast with a view of Acropolis. Plenty of restaurants just outside the hotel. Highly recommend MIRONI, just outside. Beautiful view of the acropolis. Highly recommend splurging and booking a room with a view. It was a lot of fun for me and my son to locate our hotel and room from both acropolis and lykabettos hill!

Very nice hotel.

The hotel has a nice view of the acropolis from the roof deck and you can walk to the historic sites. But I am not sure how this is 5 star. I did not receive my VIP upgrades, there is no mini bar but you do get a fridge. The restaurant is overpriced by Greek standards 13 € for a glass of wine, 28 € for breakfast and mediocre food. The service at the restaurant was fine. The area is sketchy. Did not feel comfortable walking around after dark. Lots of abandoned buildings and smell of urine. It is a very rundown part of town. Windows are not sound proof and there is strange blue light outside maybe part of the hotel lighting. Bathroom clearly had mold or mildew. The room itself was clean.

Rooms were nice but bathroom was terrible We stayed 3 days but everyday clean and sanitary replenishment was not done Water heating cattle was not working It was hard to get service

Rooms were clean . Staff was helpful and friendly . Hotel surrounded by very good restaurants.

An aging queen…our first room had leaky ceilings in the bathroom. Our second room could barely get WiFi..they last saying they’d reset the router but that never worked. The room keys had to be renewed every day and the front desk staff was half surly/half pleasant. The breakfast was the same every day and the eggs were luke warm and tasteless. On the plus side, the restaurant staff was very friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff were amazing. The bell boys were also very helpful.

It was a great stay. The facility is amazing, and had an amazing view of Athens from the roof top bar. My only gripe was the shower seemed to have a bit of black mold on the ceiling.

Great place in Athens

Beautiful hotel, comfortable room. The bar/restaurant on roof has great views and very good food. We walked to all the local sites and museums, neighborhood around looked sketchy (lots of graffiti everywhere) but the shops were all decent and area felt safe.

Great hotel with great view from roof top restaurant of Acropolis. Nicki the concierge was very helpful and the Mironi restaurant across the street was fantastic (better than what we had in the old town dining district). Rooms were clean and bed was great. Short distance with hop on hop off bus to all the sights in old town Athens.

Wonderful stay!

The hotel was great. It was clean, spacious, and my room had a beautiful view of the Acropolis. The internet did work half the time I was there though. That was my only problem with the hotel.

Too many people. Lines everywhere. Will not stay again.

Hotel lobby was in good condition. Room was not ready at check-in time. Towels in room were faded and tattered on the ends. Gym was tiny as many in Europe are. Staff very pleasant when advised of issues noted.

Great accomodation, spacious and clean. Location is a little walk from busy Athens city centre.

The hotel was very clean. I really enjoyed staying here and my two favorite areas around the hotel was 1) The Bread Factory located right behind the Hotel. 2) Hop on Hop off bus located behind the hotel.

The room is spacious and best location. The roof top restaurant is excellent view from it.

I don’t think I would book this hotel again. We arrived at 9pm were told the hotel had plumbing issues and would have to stay at a sister hotel. They took us to that hotel and it was full. After several phone calls they had us take a taxi to a 3rd hotel. Finally got to a room after 11pm.

The one restaurant on the rooftop had a great view of the Acropolis. Breakfast included was decent. The property is older there was mold in the shower. The taxi drivers kept telling us not to go out at night as it is not a safe area. Plenty of taxis available, property is not close to many restaurants however the Thang Long restaurant is close and very good

Worst hotel in Athens

Worst experience in Athens! Absolutely horrendous. I asked politely THREE times for them to clean my room. House keeping for some reason miraculously forgot to clean my room while they were doing the floor. Shocked as how that can even happen. I did not pay for a disgusting used room, with no clean towels. I cannot believe even after telling front desk THREE Times, they would be so inconsiderate and unprofessional and not do the very basic minimum. How hard is it to ask the cleaning staff to clean your room???? I even had the sign up outside my room saying “Makw my room”. I don’t know how awful you have to be as a hotel to not take care of basic things like cleaning a room and supplying fresh towels. They claim they are a 5 star hotel? I would give them 2 stars with awful Customer service. Had this been in any other country, staff involved would be fired. But I guess this is Greece where incompetence is the name of the game. Absolutely disgusting experience and really sad to go through it. I was going to stay for several more days at this hotel - bit after this experience, I am done and will never return. I will also let everyone I know what an awful hotel it is and to not stay here. Hotels pay an arm and a leg to get repeat customers, but this is the way to loose them forever. Shocked at this experience and will never ever stay here again.

Awesome stay at this excellent hotel. Highly recommend! Pool is beautiful, complimentary breakfast was very good, night views of the Acropolis from the restaurant on top of hotel are fantastic.

Reserved room, but there was no room upon arrival! This property has a lot of pluses, but there were significant issues. I arrived late at night and was told they didn’t have room for me and put me in a “Sister” property. The other property is inferior: noisy room faving the street, located in a bad neighborhood - walking there at night, and I could go on. The inconvenience of being shuttled to another property, the noise from the room – all added up to a horrible experience. A discounted rate would have been the minimum compensation, but instead they upgraded to a higher floor. Also, they have a beautiful pool, but they close it early in the evening and don’t open it until late morning – allegedly, so people in the restaurant are not disturbed (there are other times that the pool is open when people are eating, so I don’t think this is a valid reason).

There’s a few good restaurants right outside the hotel. If you don’t mind walking, this hotel is about 1.5 mile walking distance from the touristy area. We got upgraded and breakfast was included. Breakfast was better than expected.

Coffee cups were dirty, some of the towels were dirty. Shower head was leaking water unless you angle it to stop.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The hotel staff were so friendly. The hotel is a great location near the metro station & some cute restaurants nearby. There is a beautiful mural across the street was so nice to view everyday. Breakfast was very extensive & the views from the rooftop restaurant was stunning.

Roof top bar and pool are nice. Bar service is slow but very courteous.

Nice and clean close to Metro we were VIP and was entitled to a bottle of wine but had to ask 4 times for it to be delivered but everything else was great breakfast included and was lovely

Well maintained, friendly staff

The front desk lady was very rude. when we checked in. The shower had Mold. I have pictures from check in date and check out date. I asked them to clean it they never did. We showered in the tub. It was horrible. I will never recommend or stay there again. I should get all my money back. Because that mold could cause health issues down the line.

Nice hotel in a bad area

Very nice and helpful staff, convenient location , right next to Subway station. Breakfast is a nice buffet and it is included. Surrounding area not totally safe for walking in the night. It it better to take subway to the parliament area, and do the walking from there.

The hotel said is a 5 star and is NOT. The room was awful the bathroom shower looks filthy with mold in the borders and towels lack of freshness old and yellowed. Never stay there again.

Nice room except that the shower was silly. It had a huge shower head for a small space and the door didn’t seal and a large amount of water leaked onto the floor.

The staff and lobby were great and beautiful. It was our honeymoon so they complimented us with chocolate strawberries and a bottle of wine which we greatly appreciated but honestly the room was not clean. The floors were dirty and the bathroom had unfinished walls and the flooring was terrible and not nice, where the shower was completely open to the toilet area also. Idk who designed the rooms but they should be fired. The room was dirty and the shampoo and body wash were empty. The pillows were also wayyy too fluffy like two pillows in one. My neck was killing me. The bed was two made into one. Would probably not come back based on the hotel rooms alone. The staff and service were great. The room was just not it at all

We had been booked at the Athens Avenue hotel and it was awful. I didn’t know what to do. I went on Expedia. I found this hotel and it was amazing. I had no idea what I was doing when I was looking and was so lucky to have found this great place. It would’ve been great all by itself, the pool, the food but it was near the Athens fruit and vegetable and meat market. Oh my gosh, it was just amazing.

Good service and beautiful rooms. Staff was very friendly and professional, they happily allowed us a late check out. Agree with previous reviews that some streets around the hotel are sketchy but the metro is right outside the hotel and only 1,20 Euro to ride center city. Drinks on the rooftop bar was great and our server even gave us a round of shots in the house.

This property was right outside the Metaxourghio Metro station made it easy to get anywhere in downtown athens, airport and port.. The rooftop restaurant had magnificent views..

The staff upon checking in was rude. After traveling from the ferry with my child, the front desk was rude and abrupt. I indicated that the specific room I booked through Expedia was a VIP ACCESS and even showed her the confirmation of the the complimentary bottle of wine and room upgrade and NEITHER ONE WAS GRANTED. For that I would not book through Expedia then and go via other alternatives that offer better benefits. The location wasn’t in the nicest part of town. The only “benefit” was the overly crowded and booked restaurant across the street - which we opted not to wait in line and walked up the block to a more enjoyable restaurant.

Good hotel with functional room.

I had a perfectly fine stay at the Wyndham Grand Athens. The breakfast options were surprisingly good which was a nice surprise. Only negative thing in my room was that the bottom portion of the shower lacked proper caulking and nearly flooded each time it was used. It was helpful that the hotel was located so close to the trains but it was in a rather inconvenient location restaurant-wise and did not feel particularly safe at night.

Amazing, grand breakfast.

We got in early but unfortunately our room wasn't ready until hours later. The staff gave us recommendations on where to go and how to catch the train. They gave us access to go up and have breakfast on the rooftop with the beautiful view of Acropolis. The food wasn't that great but the staff was

There wasn’t enough lighting in the rooms. The pool water was freezing and the hours of 11:00-7:00 were not convenient for tourists who either want to go early morning or after a day of sightseeing. The hotel lobby had a very strange sour smell which I believe were the flower arrangements. The location was horrible with druggies outside and felt like I was in a 3rd world war torn country.

My expectations are disappointed to stay at the Wyndham. It is dusty and dirty. Staff aren’t approachable or helpful.

I dont know how they put it as 5 star hotel. Rooms not clean, toilet dirty and has drainage problem. Towels looks very old. Pool very small and not child friendly. Breakfast menu very limited and juices are not fresh. I was statying in another hotel G.H cheaper and much nicer.

The beds were amazing.the room was tidy. The shower door didseem to leak making the floor slippery in bathroom but we had enough towels to fix the isuse. The views from your restaurant were amazing.

Having read other reviews I was concerned about what this experience would be like but I needn’t have worried at all. The hotel was lovely, clean and the staff were great. Our room was spacious with dual windows, very clean and had perfect air conditioning. The roof top bar was great and the pool ideal. Yes, there are limited sun loungers but they were used respectfully and the bar was right next to it if needed. The metro and open top bus stops are right outside and it’s so easy to navigate the city from this spot. We did find the area a little less pleasant than other central locations but this is not a reflection of the hotel itself. We would definitely visit here again and recommend it to other travellers to Athens.
