Comfortable stay at the Wyndham Beijing North

It is a great hotel to stay at. The rooms are spacious; staff are very accommodating; the food is great; I stayed for 12 nights and did not really get bored with breakfast. Overall the place is very clean. It is a short walk to the nearest metro station, which is next to a large shopping centre.

I know that hotels in China have in general problems to find English speaking staff, but in none of the hotels I visited this trip was it as bad as in Wyndham. Here you get the clear impression that the management does not want to hire qualified staff. At the bar, which could be quite nice were working trainees who have no idea at all about drinks. Asking for Gin you here NO NOT HAVE and behind you see 3 different brands. But for them is Gordon not a Gin in is Gordon :) later I learned that they are trainees but they have no trainer. Learning by doing on the hard way. At a Wyndham location I would not expect that - that was my first bad experience at this brand. Also the hotel should consider to exchange the musicians - the have an extreme limited repertoire and sometimes the lady's voice can be pretty painful. Also food offered for breakfast lacks in quality and variety compared to other chinese hotels in the same category.

Good hotel on outskirts of Beijing

Good stay for my business trip. Very helpful front desk. Cash exchange machine behind reception came in useful when my UK debit cards didn’t work. Amex was fine. Local cash always best for the taxis.

Beautiful hotel and comfortable stay

Nice experience overall. Rooms were comfortable. It is bit outside of the beijing but close to many industrial park. So it is good for business related visit. Hotel has 5-6 different styles of restaurant/cafeteria. The food is good and all the staff people are nice and helpful.

Disappointing and overpromised hotel

Hotel smelled very bad. I was supposed to be on the executive club level. I wasn't. In fact, there were no executive club at this hotel like other hotels. I paid for executive club level room. I was very disappointed.

Could be much better so easily.

Booking in went smoothly enough after the desk staff had stopped asking for a huge deposit; just say no. The room was spacious and very well equipped; it was, however, cold. I heard other guests asking for extra blankets as they found it difficult to sleep due to the low temperature. The pool looked ok though we did not use it or the sauna; the spa treatments were very expensive. The sitting area was also VERY cold. The first major problem was breakfast; we had made a blunder. We thought that 2 people in a double room at bed and breakfast rates meant 2 people got breakfast - apparently not! 2 people in a double room at bed and breakfast rates only buys 1 breakfast; the other guest to watch through the window or have their arm and leg amputated to join their other significant half. Now in fairness to Expedia they know the scam well. The email confirming our booking did say breakfast for 1 but I replied saying that both of us would prefer to eat and would be eating. We did. Hotel staff followed us round the breakfast room telling us that only one of us could eat with me teaching them words like immoral and insulting. The second major issue was paying for things in the hotel. The prices were all in RMB and the service charge was 15%, so far so good. Having paid premium prices for the food, coffees or whatever the hotel was good enough to convert the RMB to £sterling- but at a rate much lower than I was receiving from my bank at home! It was a scam. Beware.

Charged twice for room!

Charged at checkout for room but had already pre-paid through hotels.com! Silly me for not noticing until I got home but reception staff were very slow (15 minutes to check me out) and was under time pressure to get to airport for my flight. Tried contacting the hotel by phone and email to resolve (contact details on website) but no answers provided to my emails and although phone calls were answered they hung up when I spoke English! The hotel is okay as long as you don't have any problems that need resolving.

Some descriptions are unclear.

Continental Breakfast is only for one person for any type of room. We had to pay 3 additional breakfasts to allow our family to have the breakfast together. Some facilities' information which are listed on the booklet in the room should be updated in time manner, facilities such as bowling and Ping Pong do not exist anymore. The schedule for pool game can be changed or canceled depending on their mood.

Nice hotel close to a bus station

I booked a standard room with a king-size bed and was upgraded to a 2-floor suite. Everything is great except that bathroom curtain is kind of dirty. There is a bus station 2 min away from the hotel where there are several routes of buses to a T station (three stops).

Marvelous Hotel in Mediocre Location

Location is a little out of town and not near to any shopping or restaurants, but easy to locate. The hotel is a resort type of facility and is beautifully maintained. The bed is soft and the service through out the hotel is excellent. The fitness center offers traditional Chinese massage and if you want more of a spa atmosphere you can go to the Ramada next door. The hotel has an arrangement with the spa at Ramada. (It does not have a spa on their own site.) The food was good in the lounge and in one of the 5 restaurants on grounds. (Shanghai Restaurant) The biggest drawback is that it is a 30 minute drive away from the downtown area. Room was large, clean, and very comfortable with english tv channels.

No AC and bad Internet connection

The hotel is very nice and with good facilities. For me however there were two huge issues that will prevent me from staying again here. There is no AC and the room was very warm for me to sleep comfortably. They said that they do not turn it on because it was not neither too hot nor too cold (early April). Second the internet connection was very slow and unrealiable. This was a huge problem for me on a business trip when I had to make calls using gotoMeeting. I had to instead use the phone and it impacted my meetings.

A good stay

The hotel was vary grand! it was clean stuning intrway with well trained staff. The room was vary clean neet with nice vuie from top floor. They have a frout plate in the room and every 3-4 days they bring another. The bath was of nice size and great shower with shampo, conditioner and body soap. they had a razer and cream comb and other items yoiu might need. Now they did not have a vary good tour trip selection, and it was higher then say the gray line but they are hit and miss for me. A cab ride to down town is cheep and you are close to the subway which cost 2RMB which is about .32 cents and you can get any place in town and the desk will show you what stop to take. Cab rides are cheep also but a grop of us took two cabs into town and one cost 80 RMB and the other was !!( and took over an hour longer to get there, so not all cabs are the same. My only problem with the Hotel is they say they have live music 5 nights a week, well there live music is Kareoka with a DJ and they did not have that, they have a sign but they do not have that, and the golf driving range is not that close but you can walk to it. And that is one of the big reasons I went there, sa I didnot want to go into the city to go to a club. There are no resturents close by, or bar's or anything close the hotel other then the mall that has some eating spots. I asked at the desk and they could not tell me of anything close ether. Some speek english somewhat well but not to many so don't go there thinkiung youi will just shoot the breeze with all of them. I belive the hotel is a great spot for conventions, groups and visting workers who stay for a long time. Not for the jet seter or partiers. Quite and serine. And check the weather as I went and it rained for the first week. Doug

Close to life science park

I was given a suite upon check-in and the rate was very reasonable. The breakfast buffet was decent. However, I specifically asked for a non-smoking room, and upon entering the room, it smelled like smoke. Although I ultimately changed to another room that was better, patrons should be aware that some designated non-smoking rooms at this hotel will, in fact, smell like smoke.

Loong Palace Hotel in Beijing

This is an incredibly beautiful hotel with a first class staff who speak great English and are very helpful. The amenities are great--pool for lap swimming and great fitness center. The breakfast buffet has such healthful foods--something for everyone..being a vegetarian I found lots to eat. Highly recommend it. Also, recommend Bike Beijing. We went on an incredible bike and hiking tour of the ancient Great Wall. Our guide George was awesome and Selena who makes the arrangements is incredibly flexible and responsive.

fantastic 5 star hotel for the price

My reservation is for a room with 2 king size bed. What I got was a duplex, i.e. an upstairs and downstairs. Upstairs consists of 2 bedroom suites, each with an exceptionally large king size bed. Downstairs consists of a small kitchen with refrigerator and small cook top, and a living room. There was a total of 3 TVs in my room. The main bedroom even has a walk-in closet. The conceriege service at the hotel was outstanding. Since I only speak 'broken' mandarin, they make sure each taxi driver knows exactly where I want to go. The complimentary breakfast buffet was a big surprise and great. Even though it is a bit far from the center of the city, Beijing, I did not mind it because of the room, amenties, and the service I got.
