We had a wonderful stay for our 25th wedding anniversary. The highlight for us was a swim in the beautiful pool and the spa and sauna as the sun was setting. The breakfast was superb. A very special experience and highly recommended.
Panoramic Perfection. Intriguing Infrastructure. Helpful Hosts. Pleasant Peacocks and Pukekos. Rambling Rabbits. Great Gardens. Lovely Lodges. My heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff and all concerned for making our 38th wedding anniversary weekend a resounding success. PTL
Shouted the hubby one night away without the kids. Only an hour away from where we live. Amazing view, so nice & peaceful. Only downfall was the driveway to the place was narrow & we could not see upcoming vehicles approaching around the windy roads. The meals were overpriced a three course dinner (small portions) was $118 & breakfast was a-lot more. Otherwise overall a nice short getaway.
VERY remote but well worth the drive up the gravel road. The property itself is wonderful.
Nice, not great
Woodside Mountain Lodge is a nice hotel in a lovely location once you have driven the twists and turns of the five km of mostly gravel track to find it. Staff members were all very nice indeed. Breakfast and dinner were unremarkable; this is not haute cuisine. We think that they need to do more to merit the four stars.
Room is a bit outdated. Everything else is perfect.
Great lodge in a spectacular setting
Lovely location near Auckland. The staff were amazing and friendly. We will definitely return.
A little remote down an unpaved road, but certainly well worth it once you arrive. Very peaceful and beautiful place. Great restaurant. Only small suggestion is to add USB charging for foreigner traveler’s convenience.
Beautiful views and room
Loved it
Great place, lovely staff. Really enjoyed our stay here. Definitely suggest having dinner there too!
Really good value.
Everything was perfect. The staff was helpful, the accomodations were beautiful and the breakfast was superb. It couldn't have been better. Thanks
It’s stunning! Modern and luxurious. The drive in is a tad challenging but worth it. The accommodation is fabulous. Amazing views. Great food. A special place. We loved everything about it.
Mountain Retreat
Disappointing that the spa bath in room was non operational and apparently all spa baths were the same. Shower complicated control system. Tried to go fancy but failed. Included breakfast good but doesn't start until 8am. Dinner nice but exorbitantly overpriced. Single lane gravel road into property dangerous with lots of blind corners and cars travelling too fast. Had a number of near misses.
Such a beautiful place to unwind and relax with great service and lovely views while dinning.
Excellent. Make the detour here!
We chose this to break the journey to Russell but, could not have been more pleased. 5km down a single track dirt road, slowly climbing up a dirt road. An amazing journey to get there and well worth it. DEFINITELY book dinner. Delicious food and a real destination hotel. We will definitely come back and would recommend.
It exceeded my expectations in every way – from the amenities to the service. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fantastic property experience!"
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Very luxurious and will book again. My only comment would be the road to the property was quite scary and dangerous. We drive a 4WD Ute and I’m so glad we do because we arrived in the evening and it was raining quite heavily. The roads became muddy and slippery and there is no lighting on the road. Other than that amazing stay!
Probably the nicest place for the money I’ve EVER stayed. Quiet, beautiful setting with spacious, luxurious accommodations. Lodge is situated on top of a hill with panoramic views. “Villas” are widely spaced with big windows and verandahs to take in scenery. Generous tiled en-suite with two-headed shower, spa bath. Luxury is the word that comes to mind.
Overall a nice experience.
Beautiful location and stunning views. Perfect for a relaxing break with no children! Dining was amazing, staff attentive and friendly. Would definitely come again.
Luxury! My husband and I stayed for one night for our 5 year wedding anniversary. We were greeted by lovely staff for our checkin. Very warm and welcoming. We stayed in Villa 10 which was a short walking distance to the pool and spa. We used both of these facilities. There is also a sauna that we didn’t get a chance to use. The Villa was beautifully furnished. It had a modern rustic feel. The bathroom is huge with a shower for two, seperate basins and a bath. The bed was my absolute favourite thing. It was so comfortable and the pillows, linen and duvet were just luxurious. They provided a beautiful sleep mist also. Such incredible small touches. We loved the gas fireplace which we used to warm up after our spa / swim. We had the 3 course meal and a cheeseboard. Every meal was so well thought through and absolutely delicious. The eye fillet is the best steak I’ve had, compliments to the chef. 5 star quality! There was also delicious shortbread provided in the room with the tea and coffee options. A breakfast is also included in the price, good range of choices. My husband and I wished we’d had two nights there. It was just so peaceful and relaxing. We definitely would stay here again and absolutely recommend it. You can feel how much love and effort is put into every detail. Thank you for the amazing hospitality.
Amazing!
Great stay, evening menu a little limited.
Amazing place Staff were the best
This property is lovely. Rooms atre decorated well and clean. Lovely flowers and double showers. Stylish furnishings and lovely touches like baked biscuits on arrival, an espresso maker and umbrellas. Beds comfortable and linen great. Disappointing the spa baths did not work. The restaurant and main lodge area is beautifully decorated. The staff are friendly and the food lovely. Special thank you to the head chef who specially made a cheese soufflé for me. The dining room is lovely and the breakfasts superb. Overall I would highly recommend this property.
Excellent place to stay for a couple of days!!!
fantastic location
Mixed feelings about this place. Would definitely not recommend the place in summer - the rooms are boiling hot - no AC (we requested a fan which they gave but it hardly helped) and the room and bathrooms were filled with bugs (maybe needs a bug bomb) the neighbour's kept coming outside our area forcing us to close the curtains (so no view) which means there isn’t that much privacy. I paid through Expedia and the receptionist charged my card again (she did not say she was going to charge me for the room she just charged it again I assumed she was going to put some sort of hold on my card) I advised her during checkout and she said she would transfer me - she ought to have put it back in my card as fast as she took it out. (Still no payment received) breakfast looked average which is why it’s complimentary- we skipped it. The place allows unvaxxed people which I was uncomfortable with (they do not check vaccine passes unsure it’s it’s legal) they do not do room service because of “covid” but do dine in (so it’s not ok to drop off food but it’s ok to eat with potential unvaxxed strangers?) considering they don’t check vaccine passes it’s strange to think they don’t do room services due to covid. The receptionist was nice just a shame that the place was equivalent to a 1star motel. We went for a special occasion it was a bit ruined due to all of this. The views were nice but maybe the place is not worth the price we paid. I would have rather spent that on a hardworking Airbnb
The food and service is outstanding!
The perfect weekend away from Auckland. The accommodation was very comfortable, although looking a little tired, but the stand out was the lodge itself which is beautifully furnished, with comfy furnishings, fire places and lighting. The food and service was outstanding. Thank you Jono and Fleur - you really helped make it a special stay.
It was very peaceful and tranquil. The service was excellent
The location is beautiful. The rooms are also beautiful with awesome bathrooms. I was a little disappointing though with the small things - like there is no tv and although i had a an outside are there was no furniture to sit on or table. There was also no way of heating food which I would expect for the price given the restaurant does not serve dinner and the location is not close to anything. However i was only there for a night so i read a good book and ate snacks. It wasnt exactly roughing it. The rooms are lovely.
Very good, beautiful place Fleur the manager was very xecptionallt lovely a good place to relax away from the noise. Fantastic breakfast too
Secluded retreat
beautiful surroundings amazing staff. Fleur was great
Perfection
The seriously is the nicest place we have ever stayed. Jetted tub, double shower, perfect mattress and BEAUTIFUL views. The property is immaculate and the personalized homemade breakfast was EXCEPTIONAL
Fantastic short break stay
Brilliant from the time we checked in from to the time we left!
Hilltop Accommodation
We were looking forward to escaping for a night and had splashed out on what for us, was expensive accommodation. Upon arrival we had it confirmed that the Restaurant wasn't open for dinner, this was indicated on their web and once we saw how far away from Warkworth the location was we thought it was disappointing that something wasn't on offer as there seemed to be a lot of people staying. Great pool, gym and facilities. We felt the venue needed to decide if it was luxury accommodation or not though. Our tap had to be repaired, there was no iron with the ironing board in the room and no instructions on how to operate the phone or the coffee machine which was french. The cleaning and reception staff were lovely though. Breakfast was supplied and was ok. We just felt for the price that we expected a lot more.
Big breakfast, very clean, very very quiet--no tv
Five Star Hospitality & Accommodation You'll Lov
Our honeymoon stay was splendid! Five stars. What impressed us most was Jack's hospitality and Frances' excellent service. Welcoming, warm and friendly. Outclasses hotels in Auckland. We'll be back.
Relaxation and exception service
Had a perfectly outstanding stay. The rooms and facilities were outstanding but more importantly the staff were incredible. They were very attentive and professional. Would highly recommend staying here.
Facilities: Top of the line; Value: Great deal; Service: Phenomenal; Cleanliness: Gleaming; awesome place go relish a little luxury with fabulous hosts.

It was a great place to stay. The road to the estate was rough but everything at the estate was nice.

Stunning accommodation and location.
My husband and I treated ourselves to a night at Woodhouse the night before departing New Zealand. It is only an hour and a half from Auckland airport despite being quite out of the way in amongst hilly sheep farms. Everything was wonderful...views, decor, food. The main lodge and the cabins have been beautifully decorated. Cabins are large with ample living area including a fireplace and a large bathroom with double shower and spa tub. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. Customer service was excellent. My only complaint...our spa bath and gas fireplace did not work.
