Economy hotel for business trip

I always stay here when I am in Antigua on business. Positive - it is near the airport. My one negative - it is near the airport so the bigger jets taking off can be heard quite loudly. Otherwise the rooms are comfortable with necessary basic amenities. Simple breakfast included for the price. Probably my fifth stay here and will most likely stay here again on my next trip in about two months time.

Passing through - stay here!

Great room, air conidtioner, big patio, only downside is the proximity to the airport and the noise from the planes but once it closes for the evening it is wonderful. For those needing to spend the night and return to the airport the next day it is ideal as it is close and has a shuttle for to and from the airport. The staff is wonderful and friendly!

Clean and safe. Easy-going friendly staff.

Good for short stays and close to the airport. So, excellent for stop-overs. You will likely need a car since nothing much is walkable. That said, everything is within reasonable driving distance. However, this is not a resort - it's not close to any beaches.

Overbooked and bumped to another hotel

Arrived at the hotel and was disappointed to learn that the hotel was overbooked, the owner arranged for the overnight stay at another hotel about 5 mins away, which smelled looked up for years. I was not happy. Definitely won't be staying at the back up hotel again, not even sure I would want to book at Wind Chime hotel again.

Convenient & Clean

Great place to stay, room was a decent size and was very clean and well kept. Staff were great and very helpful.Only problem was that there wasn't a great deal nearby so you have to get a taxi everywhere. Other than that a great place to stay, especially if you are on your own, as I was.

Basic but good value

It's a basic room, but pretty good for the price you pay. And if you love planes then this is the place for you! You could almost throw a rock from your balcony onto the runway it's so close but the planes don't fly through the night so no problems sleeping. Shopping is a bit more difficult, realistically you need a taxi to get to nearest shop as it's too far away to walk and carry lots of stuff. The second time I was meant to stay here the owner overbooked the room and I had to stay somewhere else, but the owner drove me there and paid for it which was much appreciated. I will stay here again when I'm next in Antigua.

Things to beware of

Expedia sent a message saying that I had to revise my review, did not feel like re-typing the entire thing, so the summary is that the web states airport transfers are free, this is false as your confirmation will state that the hotel charges $8USD for airport transfers and from my experience, they put you into a cab which you will pay for separately instead of having the charge added to your hotel charges and the taxi fare may end up slightly higher than the stated $8USD. Hotel also charged the deposit twice on the same day. When they were notified and we explained the situation that we would lose money due to the credit card's foreign exchange differential, they did not take steps to make sure the differential was covered as well, when this was very obviously their mistake. Refund was promised immediately but had to chase them down for the refund.

Charge me twice. No free pick up service from airport. Support $8 USD for taxi, but they charged us for $10.

Great little oasis to lay your head. Lots of greenery and birds. Perfect for our transit through Antigua back to Canada. Staff were polite and hospitable much kinder than the airport staff and other service people we met during our short stay. I would definitely recommend it.

Don't stay if you hate noise

Should improve noise control measures, considerin it's right on runway. You can hear 10-15 airplanes between 4 and 11pm

One week stay in Antigua, went to drop off kids.

Hotel is nice ,rooms comfortable and staff helpful. Included complimentary toilettries, coffee, microwave and refrigerator. Some rooms have a small propane stove as well for kitchenette, sink and plates/spoons. The complimentary breakfast was quite modest, included a bagel,a dab of cream cheese an apple and a boxed drink . The Rooms are not exactly "noise/sound proof" when it comes to the hooting noises of night creatures... ( some said tree frogs, other said crickets ) And the takeoff/landing of airplanes. Considering the facility is right close to runway, it does become a little problem, but a nice earplugs, or playing soothing music on ipod, with ear buds on can take care of that. It's price and central location is good for 1-2 days stay

Not sure if I want to stay there again.

We stayed in this hotel when we had a 15 hour layover. Few things about this place: It is just a 5 minute drive from the airport. The inn overlooks the runway so be prepared for very loud noises during airplane takeoff. Thankfully the airport closes at night so we could get some decent sleep. It is a very modest place, so if you are hoping for something close to Marriott standards you might get disappointed. When we arrived there was nobody in the office but there was a telephone number on the door. We called the gentleman and he promptly arrived to check us in. He was very gracious and helpful! There is no restaurant attached and no stores around that we could see. He did have a menu from a restaurant close by and he helped us order dinner. He also said that there were a couple of Chinese restaurants within walking distance. Disappointing points: I was hoping there would be some water in the fridge at the least. The towels in the bathroom were quite old with gaping holes. The bathroom door didn't close. The website said free airport drops but we were charged 10USD by the driver. I don't think the place is worth 100 something dollars. Good points: The host was very hospitable and helpful. The bed was very comfortable. Very close to the airport. Not sure if I want to stay there again because it's neither a budget hotel nor a value for money. But it's not the worst place in the world.

Comfortable but would have preferred an in room telephone. It was very difficult to reach the front desk. Even when the taxi man arrived,he knocked at my door. I appreciate arranging the taxi service but imagine getting a knock at your door when its pitch black in the morning and no verbal identification. I really feel a telephone would have assisted greatly.

Friendly Hotel

I chose the hotel as I had a one night stay over in Antigua on my way to St Martin. I was in room 6 and the view from my room was of the end of the runway where the planes turn around to take off which was pretty noisy when they did. There are no restaurants near the hotel to go to but the hotel will order food in for you. All staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast is room service toast, fruit and a tin of juice.

Changed circumstance

This hotel was (was) very close to the airport, so handy if you were just overnighting in Antigua. However, new airport opened a few weeks ago, so taxi is now required to get to Windchimes. Quite a walk to any kind of bar/ restaurant, so the question has to be "why stay there at all?". On the plus side, staff very friendly and the room was spotless.

Quiet and cosy setting with friendly staff

As one of many that finds themselves having to stay over in Antigua because of connecting flights, I wanted a comfortable and reasonable place to stay for the short time I was visiting Antigua, and that's exactly what I got. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and aimed to assist us in any way possible - they even had someone ready to pick us up from the airport ut with LIAT's unpredictable schedule we missed eachother. Fare to/from the airport, and resturants in the local area are a reasonable $15EC or $8US, meaning if you're at the end of your trip and have little money left, you should still be absolutely fine.

Disaster! You live more or less on the airp.runway

Disaster! And I do not compare with my country Sweden. I compare with over 500 hotel nights in the Caribbean, South America and Central America. You live more or less on the airport runway and the service is non-existent. Obey good advice and avoid this hotel!
