Bad Venue on the Lake
The room was fine but the bathroom fixtures were put together from the bargin basement, no fixtures matched in finish. There was blank, antique bronze, gold, polished nickle and stainless. The best was the round toilet seat on an oblong toilet. There was a 24” TV on a desk that was 20+ feet from the bed, so was useless. The worst was the included breakfast. You walked into a room that had food as would be laid out in a school cafeteria. Pre packaged Muffins, cereal in ready to eat bowls with peal away tops for the milk. Disgraceful for the prices, 385, of the rooms If your coming to this area of the Finger Lakes stay somewhere else.
Very nice room & complimentary continental breakfast & wine tasting at Belhurst castle.
Lovely site and room; less expensive than Belhurst Castle, but you get to eat breakfast at the castle, so you can take in the view of the lake at that time.
Great
I was upgraded to a room at Bellhurst cancel, very clean & lovely
Beautiful and quiet but too many bugs!
It was a unique, beautiful building, however there were so many bugs! I do not mean bedbugs, but stink bugs and flies were plentiful. I also would have liked to open the window for some fresh air but they were double paned glass with no screens. Even though breakfast was included, we did not feel like taking the time to drive to Belhurst, would have been nice to have a grab and go option on site.
The pictures online made this place seem beautiful and cozy. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The room I stayed in did not have a working tv or phone. The toilet plugged with every use and the walls are very thin between rooms. There was no balcony porch to sit at outside, like the pictures online showed.
Very quiet and the setting is beautiful. We would definayely stay again.
In disrepair
Everything was great
Definitely not your ordinary hotel room. Why stay at the Days Inn when you can stay in a stately mansion for around the same price? Loved the peaceful, spacious grounds. Excellent staff and service. The room was luxurious, spacious, and loaded with character. My only complaint is that Belhurst can do much better on breakfast. That was the only part that felt like Motel 6.
Birthday getaway
We have been here many times and enjoy the peacefulness.
There are a lot of things I love about this place have stayed here quite a few times but this stay was horrible in one respect the mattress in the Smith room was incredibly hard to the point of being painful by the end of our stay and when I brought it up at checkout all that was said "I'll pass it along " a resort of this stature you would think everything would be supremely comfortable other than that it was a great experience
The room was lovely, spiral staircase to bathroom was interesting. There needs to be more shelving in bathroom area for personal items.
Hot spring jacuzzi offered in each room - all historically kept with great views - grounds are like an arboretum.
The Manor was excellent. Very nice place. Very happy with the check in process. Was give complimentary wine tasting. Breakfast was also good.
This is the off site Manor for the Bellhurst Castle. It is very quiet and tranquil. If not looking for that then stay at the castle. We enjoyed the quiet and view of the lake, just a little dated.
I was quite disappointed that I wasn't told there was a wedding booked for when we would be there so we couldn't get a dinner reservation at Edgar's until 7:30PM! So we had to search for dinner at an off site restaurant.
The room was large and comfortable but we had loud neighbours. The breakfast could be better. did not appreciate the individually wrapped servings rather than baked on site. Did not appreciate plastic cutlery and paper cups for coffee.
Historic and charming. Very clean. Peaceful surroundings. Off site check in at Balmoral Castle is part of the experience.
This was an interesting property. Upon arrival at the Manor, we were met with a sign that said we had to check in at Belhurst Castle (which owns the Manor), 2.5 mles away. At check in, they informed us that the continental breakfast was also at the Castle, as was checkout. There were no staff or services at the Manor at all, which just seemed a bit odd to me. The Manor itself was a lovely property (although some of the exterior was in need of some maitenance) and our room was very nice, including the quirky 6-7 steps up to he toilet. It has expansive lawns with views down to the lake. The bed was comfortable anfmd the shower nice. The aforementioned continentsl breakfast was a joke. Nesrly everything was prepackaged and not particularly good (Lender's bagels, really?). The only saving grace of going to the Castle was being right on Seneca Lake, which is beautiful.
This place is a gem. What an incredible stay at the White Springs Manor in Geneva, NY. The place is great and our stay included a continental breakfast at the Belhurst Castle, which is located a few miles form the manor. Also a wine tasting experience was complimentary.
Great rooms, but expect no service
It needs to be made clear that this property is an outpost of the Belhurst castle, and is 2.5 miles away. So, not close at all. On reaching, we had to drive out again and check in at Belhurst castle as there was no one to guide us on where to check in other than a tiny sign on the door that instructed us to drive 10 min to their main property. There is also no dining, or room service at the property. So, we drove out for all the meals. That said, the rooms were spacious and well maintained and the bathroom was large.
Excellent Quiet clean
Quiet and beautiful
Great stay!
We were a bit nervous in anticipation of our stay because of some previous reviews last year. We were pleasantly surprised. The room was one of the smaller rooms, but was plenty big for our needs. It was very comfortable and clean. There was a mini refrigerator and coffee maker. It's older, but that's part of the vibe. We enjoyed out stay in The Young Room!
It was in a very large house in the country. The view was very nice. They had a simple breakfast at the main hotel.
Loved the view of Lake Seneca and the beauty of the castle
Serendipity
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the manor. Pros: secluded, quiet, peaceful, laid back, beautiful properties! Cons: potholes in drive, missing gutter on front porch and pigeon poop everywhere (because they roost on the upper pillars of the front porch), uneven patio stone and walking paths. These are all describing the White Springs Manor. Stating the cons, basically, it needs maintenance on the outside.
Could have used some instructions on how to use TV system And instructions on how to use Zacuzzi
Geneva was beautiful, the Manor was not.
Nice place
All good, great place to stay.
Horrible, powerful musty smell of humidity and just smelly permeates everything in the Playhouse, DO NOT stay there. Windows screwed shut, can’t do anything about the smell, nasty to breathe.
It was "fine" but not great. There were things that made the room very uncomfortable for sleeping. One, the temperature control didn't work correctly. When I inquired about this, the staff said it was somehow linked to adjacent rooms. It was very hot, and there was nothing I could do to regulate it. Two, had the windows functioned to open, I could have partially controlled temp that way, but they didn't work. Three, the adjacent room had small children, and I could hear them as if they were in my room, even though they were speaking in normal voices - the walls / door between rooms were very thin. Four, the lobby was not welcoming. Lastly, there should have been coffee plus creamer plus tea available at this facility. I could make coffee in my room, but I drink it with cream, and that was about 2-1/2 miles drive to obtain. // The fixes to make the stay much more pleasant seem easy. There was a lack of attention to detail. (Which reminds me - there also wasn't a luggage rack, so I used the ironing board. ... how hard is this to get right?) // So like I said, it was fine, but nowhere near terrific.
Beautiful grounds
Beautiful castle property on Seneca Lake. Woke up to the sun coming over the water. Historical building with upscale appeal. Restaurant was like taking a Time Machine. Food quality was very high end.
I fully enjoyed staying at this property. My room had a working fireplace as did the lobby. Amazing lake and sunrise views.
Beautiful property with dining, winery and spa. For the price point, I expected better trained staff with more of a customer service focus.
Great property. Great staff
Very nice older building. Large room . Comfortable bed but too high for older people (did provide steps to get into bed) In the room we got biggest problem was bathroom was down spiral staircase and no door for privacy! Shower water was warm not hot. Large room but no table to use . Coffee pot but no directions on amounts of coffee and water . Only one hanger to hang clothes on. Another somewhat inconvenience was check in was at another building and no one on staff at this facility. Free breakfast was meager. Even with some inconsistencies would maybe stay here in another room with bathroom on same level. If like quiet and peaceful accommodations would recommend this property. Staff checking us in very very nice and polite.
It was super cute would definitely stay again
Very classy, quiet and comfortable
We were supposed to stay in a small cottage attached to White Springs Manor. The place we reserved seemed decent, but a bit dingy in the pictures - but we wanted a separate space for our child to sleep, so it seemed ok for one night. Just before we arrived I got a note from Expedia that the booking was canceled. The lady at the front desk explained that the cottage had a maintenance issue so they had upgraded us to a room at the Belhurst with a king bed and cot. The room was gorgeous and very comfortable. The only issue was the cot, because it meant my son had to sleep in the middle of the room, so the adults had to be very quiet after 7 pm to not wake him up. Also, the cot was too narrow for his bumpers. We jammed some furniture up against the cot and made it work, but if it were a longer stay that would not have been ideal. Still, very grateful for the upgrade and the chance to stay at that gorgeous property.
Relaxing
Nice place to stay
This is one of my favorite stats in the finger lakes region. However this is my first time booking the mandigo room and I didn't like the fact that the rooms thermostat controlled the heat in the hallway instead of the temp inside the room. It was quite cold most of the time and I had to keep my door open for some time to catch the heat.
shhhhh... best kept secret of the finger lakes!!!
We love staying at white springs manor.
Fireplaces don’t work
Unfortunately they couldnt put us up at White Spring manor due to technical issues however they more than made up for it by having us stay at main property. Enjoyed our stay there would definitely return and recommend.
It was a very lovely property. We enjoyed our stay.
I liked that the staff were very nice even when they could not accommodate requests, that the property wasn't over-crowded and the grounds were nicely manicured. I did not like that there was no bathroom door. When we asked the staff about this they explained that because the place had to be renovated into guest rooms they had to build bathrooms wherever they would work and ours needed to be on the floor below or room, so they built a little spiral staircase down to it from our room. They never explained why that meant there couldn't be an actual door or in it but bookers beware! Just because it is not on the same floor does not mean you will have any real privacy. For some people/couples this will not be a problem but for others it will be a very annoying thing to have to work around. We did ask to be moved as there was no mention of the lack of door in the room description and we felt like that information was lacking on purpose, but they were not able to accommodate our request.
Property needs an update. Our room had a bad odor, could have used fresh air, but the windows won’t open. Sheets were dirty. Unable to regulate temperature..uncomfortably warm to sleep. Also outside lighting without window shades or effective curtains kept our room well lit through the night. On the positive side, the bathroom was clean.
About a mile away from Belhurst Castle...no services there. The Manor is older...needs to be upgraded. TV difficult to use and small. AC was a window unit - curtains, if closed, blocked the air. The dinner at Stonecutters was very good, with many light options. The complementary continental b'fast at Belhurst the nexrt morning was quite average.Check in staff at Belhurst (not available at the Manor) was very good!
It was a beautiful old inn in a very scenic area, I didn't like having to go up stairs (albeit beautiful) with my luggage.
As described, a comfortable quiet room
Inconvenient check-in and check-out. Other than that it was quiet and clean.
Old manor and castle...just lovely on Lake Geneva.
Very beautiful property full of charm and decadence. Room is astonishing and would do this again.
Unique and great time!
Whitesprings is a very unique property suitable for couples and also families. We came there with a family and we had a great time. Lots of space to run around. Complementary wine testing.
We loved our stay at Whiteside Manor. The rooms were neat, clean and well stocked. The location was quiet and removed from the busier sister property at Belhurst Castle. We did feel like the Manor was a bit of an afterthought to Belhurst. The grounds were not as meticulously manicured or well maintained. We found the porch was a beautiful place to spend mornings with our coffeee and evenings with a drink, overlooking the valley. The chairs could have been wiped down, the pillars and below were full of bird droppings, and the weeds between the patio stones were overgrown. If this property was maintained as well as the castle, I would say it would be the better place to stay.
The complimentary breakfast was pitiful. It was not worth the 2.5 mile drive from our accommodation to the main building. The room accommodations were a good value for the price we paid.
Where do I start!? Well, to start… the self-service check-in, the dirty carpets in the entryway and common areas, dirty porch, wasps nest, unmanned property… and now after midnight a BAT flying around the common area/entryway. Seriously, this is sub-par and shameful. The only thing this place has going for it is the lovely view of the orchard and distant view of lake Seneca. If only there was some clean seating, free of venomous flying insects, to sit and take it all in. Aside from the view, it is a rundown joint trying to trade on its once former glory.
Great place! Stay here whenever we come to the finger lakes!
Young room at the Manor.
The room was very nice. Only complaint was a bit slippery in the shower. Put a small towel on floor to help and no safety handles to help. Quite clean and quiet. Comfy bed too.
Great time!
We had a great experience at the Belhurst hotel.
Mansion converted to nightly room rentals was novel and appealing. Very nice structure, interesting architecture. The bed was very good, room clean well lit, window air-conditioner. A good break from typical hotel rooms. Check-in was annoying due to technological issues. Desk clerk shared irritation with booking and info sharing from Expedia. 2-3 mile drive from check-in to accommodation. Same drive back for 'continental breakfast' experience lorded over by hotel fussbudget. Two commercial toasters plugged into inadequate powercord that popped its circuit.breaker consistently.
the room was hot and the ac did not work and when i said something they did not care
Unfortunately this place has really declined. We stayed here 20 years ago, and it has the same carpet- which we suspect is what causes the smell. It is really pungent like old smokers and mold/mildew. Really hard to get the smell out of your nose to sleep. Not to mention the review that there was a dead bat in the bathroom the week before we were there. It is part of the Belhurst, which has declined as well. So sad because it is such a gorgeous setting . Don’t bother with the “included”continental breakfast, it’s less than you’d get at a Hampton Inn- packaged muffins and high sugar cereal bowl containers. Don’t understand how the management hasn’t responded to all of the negative reviews. I would not stay here again.
It is a very unique property. There are no staff on site but we didn't have an issue with that. You do have to drive to get there from the main hotel but thats not a problem. It was quiet and it felt like we had the place to ourselves
Beautiful surroundings and home. It was great to have access to the Belhurst Castle grounds and restaurants. We were very pleased.
Staff were amazing. Very helful and so nice.
A lovely, old-fashioned property. The staff members were great. We had a little trouble with the air-conditioning in our room, and they resolved the problem quickly by moving us to another room. Likewise, we were in more of a hurry than we'd planned for dinner, and the staff provided very speedy service.
Where do I start? Do not book this property. There is no staff on site, and you have to drive 2 miles to pick up keys at another hotel. That isn't the worst of it though. Once we reloaded our heavy luggage and went to pick up keys, we drove back and unloaded them again to find out that the key would not work. It gets worse. What suffices as a handicapped ramp for luggage is a bunch of rickety bricks cobbled together and I ended up spraining my foot on these things. So, drove back to the main hotel and asked for a refund. Clerk said he had to call his manager. He came back and said she would refund either my credit card or give me a gift certificate. I told him a gift certificate would not work because I lived 2,000 miles from there. He said he would tell the manager I needed a credit card refund. Still waiting to see if that happens. If not, they can pay my damages for my injured foot.
Belhurst is always wonderful.
We stayed at the Playhouse on the White Springs Manor property. All I wanted to play was hide and seek only I never wanted anyone to find me and make me go back there. As soon as you open the front door the smell of musty stale air slaps the life out of you. You ignore it for a moment because you begin to ponder why there is an elevated tub in the living room. They kindly leave every light in the house on and the TV on in the bedroom to make you feel "safe" but instead you have reverse psychology and think that someone is hiding in the closet. No fear though....all the windows are screwed shut so you couldn't get out if you tried (not sure how that isn't a fire safety hazard) I believe this is all a ploy to make you forget that this property hasn't been updated since 1973. However, there is a nice touch of whatever is stuck in the ceiling waking you up by running around in the morning. You don't even need an alarm clock for the 4:30 wake up. The Belhurst might think they can call this old school charm but the must is an old school bust. Spend some money Belhurst and replace some carpets and update the rooms. Side note...looks cute from the outside.
Up and Down
The location was lovely, peaceful, and quiet. Parking an access were easy. Our room was comfortable, peaceful, quiet. The experience is worthwhile. On the downside… Check in is offsite some distance away, and also requires having the key returned to that same place. The continental breakfast is there and while the location is lovely the breakfast is no better than an inexpensive motel: prepackaged, bagels and cereal, milk, fresh apples, and oranges. There was no recycling receptacle to be found.
Room not maintained well. Need updated furnishings, fresh paint inside and out. No attention to detail. Not a great experience for the price.
Our room was spacious and elegant. Quiet, restful- beautiful view
beyond amazing...
Elizabeth was beyond cool and helpful (and profound, too) to this kind of wacky person biking the Empire Trail... and this insane mansion with a view of the lake over yineyards, was such an amazing gift: quiet and GORGEOUS and really fun, thank you!!!!
BEWARE!
My Wife and I had one night to stay here, NEVER AGAIN! The WSM is part of a bigger hotel, Belhurst Castle, about 3 miles away, to check in you must go to the other property, not a big deal, however, going back to the Belhurst there are no employees whatsoever, you are left on your own. We reserved the Lewis room. It has a sitting room, Jacuzzi tub and 2 fireplaces for you to make use of and "enjoy". After a long drive and dinner at the Castle (which was average) we prepared to use the tub. Upon filling the tub, we tried to find the switch to turn it on. We then noticed the broken knob as pictured, not sure what to do, or how to turn it on we looked around the tub looking for a switch to turn it on. We then noticed in the water, to our disgust, there were black chunks and several hairs floating in the water…It was filthy before we even got in! The rug on the side of the tub was also damp, indicating a leak. We ditched the Jacuzzi tub idea. The next day upon checking out we told the employee (Who checked us in the day before) about what had happened, Her response was “OH! The turn on switch was the broken button, Which could have been turned on by sticking your finger into it, That part is being ordered!!!!!” THAT WAS IT! No apology for the broken part or filth, no offer of compensation since that is why we paid for the room. NOTHING! AND SHE KNEW ABOUT THE BROKEN BUTTON WHEN SHE CHECKED US IN AND NEVER SAID A WORD! The Hotel is old, rundown and feels like a horror movie.
Not smoke free!
Bed was as hard as a rock. We had small ants all over the bathroom, and the entire building smelled of pot. Obviously someone was not adhering to the smoke free policy.
Where to start!! -The walls were porous…could hear everything happening in the other rooms. -No smoking? HA. The room next door was full of partying pot smokers. I felt like I was in an opium den. All night. No relief. -the toilet/shower area had no door. Literally NO door. Thank God there was at least a fan. That’s about enough. And for $250/night??!! Seriously!! And when checking out… ”thanks for the input sir”…no offer to make it right. Terrible. I might go back…but making my reservations…I’d mention all of it. Terrible experience.
Stately and historic manor has great views outside and spa waters to enjoy inside.
The Tv wasn’t working and we had to use an xtension cord from the office to plug the telephone in so that it would work. The place is tired, carpet needed shampooing and paint throughout was chipped.
Likes: Complimentary wine/beer tasting, jacuzzi tub, quiet and historic.
It had the feel of a bed and breakfast without the forced interactions with other people. It was historic and beautiful. It may not have the amenities like a traditional hotel on site, but it was close to everything. It was a nice, quiet place to return to after being out and about exploring. The staff were friendly. We received a discount at Belhurst. Planning our next trip already!
Very Nice
Historic building hottub in the room
A lovely setting. However, many years of smoking in the rooms (not allowed anymore) leaves the walls and ceilings reeking of old smoke. It attacked my sinuses and lungs. Also, the lighting in the rooms and common area is so poor that it is impossible to even read.
I would definitely stay here again. The setting is very private, the manor is very tastefully decorated and matches the time period of the building. Rooms aren't cookie cutters of each other, each seems to have something unique about it. It gives you the feel of staying in a bed & breakfast. Driving to Belhurst to check in & out or dine is not a problem.
No staff on property
The white springs manor has historic feel with character. The check in process is 2 miles away. No staff at all on property. For such an old building, checking in after dark is a tad unnerving
Great getaway spot in Finger Lakes.
Beautiful spot overlooking Seneca Lake. Very quite. Staff very friendly. Terrific facilities.
On arrival the Inn was locked with no attendant or staff. Lewis room dirty, stained, bug infested ( photos taken and emailed to front desk )! Checked out . Terrible experience!
Hidden fee for “extra” person - this was a booking for 3 people, the room you showed was for 3 People and then the hotel charges you for the 3rd person. Will not be using Expedia again
A few things. No staff on hand to assist with anything. When we arrived the outdoor lights were not on which made brining in the luggage and unlocking the front door difficult. The rooms themselves are dated and reminded me of a motel room from the 1960s on a rural 2 lane highway.
Not the best option
Very old place that has no front desk. One of the rooms had bugs in it from a crack in the window. They did send someone over and let us change rooms so we appreciated that but you can tell this is a second hand place that they really don’t care about. I didn’t sleep a wink. I would not recommend.
We stayed at the Playhouse and it was so quiet, peaceful and still close to town. We had use of the castle amenities too.
Beautiful property! Loved the fact of having only 12 rooms, made it feel private!
Amazing Place
amazing castle hotel with giant room and high ceilings. with the tub in the room! Very friendly and helpful staff! Highly recommended!
White Springs Manor is a lovely place with unique and exquisite furniture. The rooms are comfortable and very well-equipped.
The location was great and convenient. The property definitely needs some updating.
White Springs Manor a Belhurst Property | Hotel in Geneva | Travala.com
Houseflies in the room on both the days, lack of privacy as there were no blinds but simple curtains. Insufficient lighting outside the property, no cameras around the common areas of the property. Insufficient photos of the room at the time of room selection.
