We had an excellent stay at this hotel! The hotel provided excellent services, a high-quality breakfast with many selections, and a fantastic river view from our room.

Very close to the Bund.

Liked the option of double queen beds which was difficult to find in other hotels. Breakfasts were excellent. Pool and gym were small but sufficient. Highly recommend for stays with children.

Beautiful property on the Bund and conveniently located for walking to the many touristic places in Shanghai. Breakfast was amazing with many options and great tasting. Staff was friendly and courteous.

Old building

Very well maintained high-end property. Large rooms.

During the two nights we stayed there, every night about 20 or more influencers would show up along with their friends/assistants. They would have their pictures taken in the lobby, in the bar area with the Christmas tree, etc. They outnumbered guests who actually paid and stayed there. The hotel turned a blind eye to them. I find this experience very unpleasant and not compatible with the price we paid to stay there.

Very close to the Bund. Can see it from the room without any obstructions. Breakfast is excellent.

Excellent location, Very nice view, All the stuff and the service are very nice and kind, love it.

This location has made sure they paid attention to every little detail. The staff throughout our entire stay was both delightful and helpful. They even helped us find a taxi when none seemed to be available. As for the hotel and room itself, everything has been maintained very well. The beds were very comfortable. The sitting area was impeccable and the view was phenomenal. Even the teas were outstanding. As for the location, I live how close it was to the Yu Gardens, good food, and some fun shopping. I would definitely stay here again the next time I am in Shanghai.

Nice property, but service people are not well trained, short of service people. no clear restaurant direction and food manuel

Great location to visit and see The Bund. Very nice rooms. The breakfast was VERY pricey for what you get. I would suggest visiting The Walking Street (only about 11 minutes walk from the hotel) for meals.

Beautiful hotel with impeccable service. The property is close to all the major attractions (The Bund, Nanjing Lu, and Yu Garden). We will definitely be back!

Our stay at the Waldorf was outstanding. The rooms are beautiful, spacious and well equiped and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

Convenient and good services

Couldn’t be better. Rooms were plush. The river view is amazing, so be sure to get a river view if you will be spending any time in the room. It was my husbands birthday and they put balloons and a lovely cake for him. We loved it!

A very bad and unpleasant experience

Disappointing experience. We have struggled during our stay because we don’t speak Chinese. During my stay, the hotel was full of security guards who were not letting us get inside the hotel for a long period, because some important person was visiting. The hotel didn’t warn us or notify us ahead of this. Every time we ask concierge to book taxi for us the process was not easy to follow and takes very long time and you have to walk some distance to meet the taxi driver in a different location because taxis are not allowed to stop near hotel entrance. Overall the stay was disappointing and I can’t recommend this hotel at all.

When I enter the hotel through the entrance of old building. Nobody assist to open the door, whether is sunny or rainy. I don’t know why. As 5 stars hotel, it is not up to standard. Also, when I just want cafe latte during breakfast time, I need to wait for 20 mins. It is ridiculous

An amazing hotel made our first trip to China very memorable. Hotel Christmas decorations were elegant. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms were roomy.

The General Manager, Richard SAUL and Chief Concierge, Leo Wang and the Team were very responsive, helpful and professional. The nostalgic hotel exceeded expectations. The property is well maintained and the rooms very clean. We had a room with the view of the river and modern buildings on the Pudong side. We will definitely return again.

Everything is good. However, except one. Peacock Alley's male staff (He seems like a manager) is quiet unkind. I've asked him I'd like to buy a mooncake. But he told me 'Go to mooncake shop.' Kidding me?? I've told him once again. 'where can I buy a mooncake?' He gave me a half-heartedly answer with wry mouth. 'T.H.E.R.E' I had a great disappointment to your hotel.

I love this hotel. I stayed for a week and then returned for several days. I was on business. Great working hotel. I used the business center to do training for doctors from local hospitals. SUPER meeting rooms. SUPER Pool for hot Shanghai. The gourmet restaurant was a unique experience. What I like best is the Management. They are very responsive to every concern I had during my stay. I will return to Waldorf Astoria next July.

Love the toilet seat, lots of functions. Supper at Pelham’s was good, the wagyu beef was extraordinaire, dim sum at the Michelin Chinese restaurant was alright, but a bit inferior to theChinese Restaurant at Ritz Carlton. The linen , bedding, bath robes , porcelain, etc are of high quality. The spa, though a bit expensive, was superb and attention to detail was impression. Anna did a magnificent job.

Best 5-Star in Shanghai

The Waldorf on the Bund continues to be the best 5-Star in Shanghai. I’ve stayed at many of the other 5-Stars in Shanghai and none can compare to the elegance of the Waldorf. The location is perfect and the staff is always first class. This continues to be my first choice when visiting Shanghai. Thanks team Waldorf.

The most beautiful hotel on the Bund with impeccable service, comfortable beds, beautiful decor, and amazing food. From check in to check out we received nothing but the best service. The Sunday brunch in the brasserie was to die for. We could walk to to the things we wanted to see including the bund, a ferry to Shanghai tower and pearl tower, and lots of shopping! Loved the longbar with its beautiful room and fun bartenders!

The service and staff were excellent from the moment we walked into the hotel. The location is perfect to walk to many tourist locations and a 15 minute walk to the train station. The room was big, clean, and the view was beautiful. Indoor pool was a big plus. Don’t have any complaints. Would stay there again.

The location of the Waldorf Astoria can not be beat. The view of the Bund and the night lights of Pudong are incredible. The staff are so incredibly helpful and kind. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Shanghai.

High cost, low value

Don't understand the high ratings. For the cost of the room, I expected to "have my socks blown off". Just an ordinary, overpriced hotel.

We booked a room King Bed, Sofa and Panorama View of the Bund. We were given a room on the 15th floor which didn’t have a Panorama view. There was a view of the Bund but there was a building on the right blocking the view and overlooking the roof of several buildings with big AC. Then they moved us on the 21st floor the next day. But the view was the same. Expedia didn’t help us at all.

The best

The room was not ready because we arrived too early. Luggage was stored and before we wandered around the hotel, the room was ready and the hotel called me. The room is excellent as always and has a breathtaking view. However, the bath tub's water could not be released after use and it did not come with bath salt. And few noisy kids were running around but no one was supervising them.

Great view of the bund if you paid for the river view. Morning buffet selection is mediocre. Disappointed that the fresh made Asian selection weren't hot. A bit of distance from the metro.

The Hotel was very impressive. The staff was top notch. Catered to every request. The whole experience was incredible.

The very name sets an expectation on the standard you expect. It achieved that expectation in every field. An absolutely fabulous hotel and I have no problems in thoroughly recommending it.

Got an upgrade but cost was higher than others paid! Also lack of coffee shop type restaurant. It very grand & well located.

Good location at the bund. Friendly staffs. Nice heritage building.

The location is excellent and the staff strives to provide a high level of service. Long Bar is beautiful although the bar food missed the mark. I would suggest to the hotel they change out their toiletry supplies from Ferragamo which make you smell like someone at a high school prom.

The hotel location is very close to the Bund which I enjoyed every night of Shanghai’s skyline. During my stay in August of 2018, there were constructions taking place along the Bund which created a little inconvenience. The hotel staff is courteous. The suite I stayed in is spacious and clean. The parking and drop off area is located in the other side of the hotel which was a little hard to find on my first night, It would be more helpful if there are signs that indicate a proper drop off area.

Staff need better hospitality training. Gorgeous hotel however.

This hotel is beautiful and very quiet. The room was comfortable and good size. Everything was great, but the staff could use some hospitality lessons. Their service is not 5 stars, more like 3 or 4. Front desk staff doesn’t smile or make you feel welcome.

A particular word of praise for room staff, best I’ve experienced. Unnoticeable but for their meticulous care to looking after your room comfort. Very professional

My wife and I enjoyed our stay of 3 nights, The room were to our level of expectations. The staff were always superb.

Beautiful hotel, fabulous location

A beautiful hotel and some lovely staff. However, eating here is outrageously, eye waveringly expensive, so be prepared. Impeccably clean and housekeeping staff are amazing, with our room being serviced twice a day. I'd stay again.

Great Hotel

My stay at Waldorf was amazing. The staff was always welcoming and alert. Especially in the dining area, they sat us immediately, always greeted us, and was very quick with everything they did. The facilities were all clean. The room was cleaned twice a day, filled with plenty of water bottles and fruit, had more than enough towels and toiletries. The gym, the swimming area, and the locker rooms were all clean and was very nice. The food, especially the breakfast, always had a wide variety of choices and were all made to perfection. My personal favorite was the eggs Benedict over bacon. Area was nice too. Right across the street was the Bund and it was a great view.

Classic elegant restored to an excellent standard

The hotel sits along the Bund Shanghai reminiscence the glory days. I gave this the highest rating. Inside the room is superb, the furniture, the exceptional size and quality of the bed, the bathroom is all 5* standard. Travellers do not wish to pay more for the Bund view from the room can enjoy a walk along the Bund by just crossing the main road. I was told by the staff the hotel has been opened for at least 6 years and I can see it is still maintained to the highest standard, it looks like it was recently opened. I am most impressed with the extensive use of marble stone and elegant chandeliers. Please take a walk around the old wing which faces the Bund, it is so impressive. Breakfast menu is good with a good variety of choices.

Don't eat the breakfast!

Love the physical property; however my boss and I got sick from the breakfast buffet. We believe it was from fruit that we both ate. Made for the most miserable flight back to the US!

Stayed Waldorf Astoria for Christmas - a great experience, nice and attentive staff, modern desgin hotel. Astonishing view from our room (river side) Breakfast was good, but not great as heard not far away from IFC

Christmas @Waldorf

Amazing room! The marble-tiled bathroom is simply divine. The only setback is the overly soft pillows. My wife woke up tired with neck pain. But still love the overall comfort. A must-see is the old wing where the tall Christmas tree is outside the famous Long Bar. Grand Brasserie is a sight not to be missed too. Christmas @Waldorf gives such warmth.

High quality hotel

The staff were very helpful and welcoming and all speak English. The room was exceptional and very clean with no issues at all. It is in the perfect location for the bund and Nanjing road is only ten minutes walk away.

5 Star hotel on the Bund

This is one of the top 5 star hotels in Shanghai. The hotels is right across the street from the bund and the room with a river view was worth the extra cost. The room smelled a little musty and could not tell quite why since it was well maintained and clean. Since I don't speak Chinese I leaned on the concierge staff multiple times a day and they were very friendly and helpful.
