It’s outdated, way to expensive for what they offer. I will not be staying there again

The room not good it is old and ugly

Property was nice, staff was ok majority had an attitude. Rooms are super humid. I called it the wet room. Extremely cold and wet, even with AC off room was still cold. Housekeeping do not changed towels. We had to ask for clean towels. Restaurant were ok, except for the Italian one, mentioning that they did not have Parmesan cheese. I even caught the host grabbing the dessert with her hands no gloves, that is when I got up and walked away. Not much entertainment. It is a very chill resort. Not sure if i would revisit. And I got charged a fee for getting wristbands to have access to the buffet before 3pm check in time.

Basically I didn't like anything about this property. Food was bad service bad and wi-fi was even worse. The manager was very rude and just didn't care about the guest so no point even letting her know about the problems. I will never stay at any of the viva resorts. Wyndham really needs to do an inspection on this property.

Best food I’ve had in any resort. Loved how they served Dominican dishes which most resort don’t do. The resort can use better entertainment.

We enjoyed our stay. Staff were very nice except one grouchy guy at the beach grill. The rest were all very nice. Our room was spacious but there was not a chair or table as we usually have. We requested a chair and were given a plastic one. Food was good. what we expected for a 3 star experience.

Worst Resort Ever

When we there the receptionist was flirting with a gust, the one of the employees offered my kids The manager Marie try to charge me $780.00 for a taxi and last is a all inclusive resort but the only give you one bottle of soda when you comes ask for another they told me no is only to welcome you in.

This was my first and last tiem in this hotel, for the following reasons. The only two bars dont have alot of choices of drinks and the few ones they use only cheap bottle of licores. Supposedly every day on the schedule they have around 15 activies a day but on my stay they only did 2 max 3 a day. They also have 5 restaurants including the buffet but only the buffet and one other restaurant a la carte is open and when is open they dont have space for booking. In the rooms they have a fridge with only water and sodas. If you are looking for a place to read a book and be alone this is the place.

Food is terrible, menu is terrible . Unsafe floors in rooms, very slippery and dangerous. Rooms flood when raining. Staff is amazing and work very hard, they were the only good part. Beach terrible and dirty. Seaweed and garbage everywhere. This place should be torn down. Awful.

As we arrived about 2:30p we waited until 3pm due to lack of rooms not ready. We reserved this hotel due to the fact that it was an all adult hotel and encountered with many families and their children in the lobby area. I asked front desk agent and he stated “Unfortunately that needs to be updated!” Finally bout 3:30 we were assigned room. As we finally try to enter room, our card keys weren’t properly working in fact during our entire stay, maintenance had to come to our room 6 times to reboot the battery and front desk refused to change our room. The wifi service in and out of room was extremely poor whereas we always had to connect & disconnect throughout our entire stay. Our experience with the buffet restaurant was the worst service, we had to get our own glasses, utensils and never brought any beverages including water which had to be appropriately handled as service. The surroundings cleanliness was completely swamped with waters from rain and pool side which could avoid from slipping at all times. We made reservations for the Italian restaurant, which was at the beach area, and guest services stated it was located on the Mexican restaurant “Poblado” and apologized for the inconvenience. I then decided to go by the beach area bout 30 minutes before our reserve time, and I saw them setting up, asked a waiter “is this the Italian restaurant tonight?” He said “Yes”. Apparently they wanted to bribe us due to overbooking the Italian restaurant. Horrible Service need HELP!

Absolutely terrible. I checked in at about Midnight and checked out immediately the following day, the food was disgusting some of it even spoiled, the drinks were nasty, the staff was rude. All in all it was a terrible experience.

The regular worker's are the best people I never met , specially the activities people ,people in the bar are the best in this property,Dinner good. Definitely the people at the front desk not too friendly, my first impression I felt I am not welcome . Otherwise I can referring anyone to your resort… See you next time guys thank you thank you…..Jean .c

Great food, beautiful beach. We were there in the off season so some restaurants and excursions were unavailable however there was not many people at the resort, which suited us fine. The chocolate croissants were delightful!!

Love this resort I will be coming back in the future . I stayed for 3 days and I didn’t want to leave . Everyone is so friendly including the staff . The food is actually amazing they have like 4-5 restaurants and I was impressed with the food quality , now before I booked this resort I was kinda hesitant because of all the negative reviews but this is definitely hands down my lil gem getaway . The pool &hot tub is nice and clean all the time .music is always playing around the pool, The staff does activities all the time so that’s always fun . They have a small coffee shop and that was my favorite including all the restaurants. The rooms was very clean and spacious. The theater at night time was spectacular the staff did and amazing job . The security did an excellent job I felt safe and I felt like home. I would give 5star and definitely recommend family and friends . Thank you so much for having me .

Staff were very friendly! The resort itself false advertised many things that were not provided, starting off with a welcome cocktail and welcome gift in the room that was not included, 24-hr room service was not include, the Wi-Fi kept disconnecting, you'll need to log in every single time. There are no waiter service on the beach or pool as advertised. Pool towels were provided but not for the beach. Biggest disappointment was that they have about 5 restaurants and only ONE opens per night therefore there are never reservations available, especially for a party of 4 or more. We had no fine dining experience. and the buffet food was repetitive. only positive feedback was that they provided me with a crib for my baby no extra charge. (although you'll have to stack some towels and blankets since its a very slim pad) I would only recommend this resort for elderly couples who want to unwind by the pool/ beach. We ended up checking out 4 days early.

It was calm and not too big facility. Staffs were so kind and nice. Cafe is too small than my expectation and no inside bar was a little disappointed to me.

OVERALL 3/5 I stayed at Viva Heavens for 3 nights with family. We were received with a smile and a refreshing natural juice. The staff was professional and kind. The rooms were big and mostly clean, but lacking a variety of refreshments (only 2 sodas and water). The hotel is small compared to others nearby, it has one big pool for all the guest, and about 3 bars throughout the whole hotel with nice drinks. The reason I personally wouldn’t go back or recommend it, it’s because of the lack of variety of food, they have a small buffet with basically the same food everyday. The food is ok, not the worst but not the best. They have 3 restaurants that require reservations but are never open or there’s no reservation available. I asked the front about the closure of the other restaurants and they told me “they were opened as they were requested” which is a little dumb to me, but my family of 11 tried making reservation for the 3 nights we were there for the only restaurant they had open, and it was always fully booked. The best part was the entertainment staff, they had beautiful shows and were always around the hotel talking to the guests! Aside from watching the shows, there wasn’t much to do. The pool table is closed and you have to leave a $50 deposit to play, and it closes at 6pm. Overall, the hotel is ok, but needs to work on more food variety and more FREE activities for the guests.

It’s poorly kept.

I will give my positive criticism about the hotel. The water system, like flushing the toilet (have to wait for a few mins. before flushing again) and the water that’s coming out of the faucet needs improvement. The card that we use to open our room door was not working most of the time. We had to go to the front desk like more than 5 times to either get a new card or for them to connect the card to their computer system. One time, they had to call a maintenance man to fix the door where you insert the card. We never had issues with these two basic things during our many years of travel. I hope the management will look on to this matter. Thank you.

I'm very disappointed with my parent's room # 5108 it got completely flooded with water after a day of rain when we got back in the evening the room was completely flooded. The worst thing is that the hotel management knows about this issue and they ignored the problem and continues renting the room without fixing the problem. I'm not happy with the inconvenience the hotel caused my elderly parents

The dinning hall was extremely hot all 6 nights of my stay. No more cheese left to make omelet and the chef did not try and get more. The food options were not so great but edible because only thing to eat. The room was very basic & out-dated. Tv stations only option in Spanish and the tv kept turning on by itself, i had to unplug it. Only large towels no hand towels to dry hands and no wash clothes at all. I had to bath with my hand and was unable to wash my back. The room always fogged so towels did not dry after hanging. The sound from the party was extremely loud and i could not sleep. The party music did not stop after the time i was told.They could have at least lowered the music. But over-all I'll score 3-4 stars.

Good economic option, a little away from the Town, so limited Dining options if you want to dine out. Restaurants inside the Resort do offer couple of options, and they are not that great.

We were 28 family members and we all loved this resort.

I liked the food and the beach. Especially the lunches with the restaurant that's right off the beach. But the room had no tissues, one super small garage can in the bathroom which was always like a rainforest, which effected the only toilet paper we had, and the TV was not functional at all. Can't understand why a hotel can allow you to use their WiFi which was decent, but they can't afford a smart TV that actually works. The TV we had should have been a smart TV that worked but it was useless. No channels no apps nothing. Very limited dining options but at least the food was good. The gym was decent and the spa decent. The pool was boring. Could have used something to make it more exciting. We got talked into checking out this natural island that they were calling Paradise Island. Somehow no one mentioned that it was going to take 4 hours to get to the tiny island. 4 hours. INSANE. Unless you want to spend 8 hours back and forth traveling to a little island with nothing to do but drink and swim then don't get talked into it. You're supposed to snorkel and see amazing things, when we got there THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE ENOUGH SNORKELS. I didn't get one. And when I got one the mouth piece was broken and eventually I just said screw it and drank myself to satisfaction on this tiny island. Look at the end of the day, the food was good not great but good and the beach and scenery on the beach is gorgeous. But would I go back to this hotel, no way. Would I go back to DR, definitely!

El lugar no lo recomiendo si estás buscando un lugar que tenga muchas actividades este no es bueno, la discoteca ni aire tiene, la comida no es muy buena y su restaurante mexicano tiene muy mal servicio y ese vino parece vino de cocina 😒. Los empleado algunos fueron bueno pero otros Dios tu ni pregúntale podia podías porque te contestaba con actitud como si uno estuviera molestando… la verdad no volvería a este lugar ni de gratis no me gusto para nada…. Fue tan mala la experiencia que si sigo hablando no termino, tiene que mejorar en todo.

Nice pool, minutes to beach, good local food.

Staff at front desk can use some improvement. there was an unnecessary delay to add us in order to make restaurant reservations. We were only able to make one reservation out of the four restaurants. Front staff also talked over me mid-conversation in order to speak to other staff members multiple times, rude.

With the rain, a lot of water entered the room. We did not like that starting from 6:00 AM on the day we were supposed to check out at 12 PM, the internet service was already cut off. I don't think it's fair because we still had 6 more hours.

Check in took an hour, we had to wait standing up in the heat with no water. The rooms leak water from air conditioning. The staff seems lost. There were no wash clothes in bathroom. My nephew hurt his ankle and they didn’t have ice packs or first aid kit in site. The food was good, only one restaurant opens per night. You have to be VIP to get good liquor and better amenities, but we had no idea on how to upgrade. We were at the beach and had to walk to main building to BUY a bottle of wine. We were tired of going back to car for small cups. The beach is a long walk from resort. The entertainment staff was excellent. I enjoyed my stay because of them. They got my nephew a bandage & ice. The entertainment staff always checked on us and tried their best to make our stay a pleasant one.

I stayed at the Viva Wyndham hotel in Playa Dorada and wanted to provide some feedback. The theater show content was not suitable for children, the food menu lacked variety, there was no cash available at the front desk, and other guests' speakers in the pool area were disruptive. I checked out one day earlier due to these issues. Thank you for considering my feedback.

The staff was.mostly very pleasant and good food. Lovely staff. The gym was well equiped. The room was ok. Found there was an old smell. Glass doors were not closing properly. The spa has great staff but it was not special. Love he service. Thank you!

Its too expensive for the commodities

I did like the service of the staff they do have. But the resort is understaffed, not safe, on the verge of uncleanliness. For a cheaper price the trip would of been worth it but paid for a good resort and this hotel is not it.

This property need more activity in the night the food more healthy and more good the staff was well but I gave extra money because I did not have change and the people did not give me my money back

The hotel in general is good for small group of people, for is not a very big hotel resorts like many others. It has a lot of nature in it, a great beach, good night shows and very nice people as employees.

Nice place. The food was amazing, the only problem that I don’t like was the staff and the service. they always welcome you with the angry face like they don’t want work or assist you.

Decent for affordability

Expedia advertised this property as a pay upon arrival but i was charged shortly after the cancellation period ended. When i was trying to get a refund for the inaccuracy the reservation staff kept dogding Expedia forcing me to arrive at the property. Expedia also advertised this properyt at a higher price than what the property charges on their website. I was disappointed by the whole experience.

Staff lacking the expertise of providing a truly memorable experience. We had to wait for our room way past check-in time. Necessities such as extra towels (we were provided two only and booked for 4) were difficult to get. Food on the other hand was a plus

I enjoyed my stay very much. I liked the staff and attention I received during my time at this hotel. I loved that they had cats around the area as I’m a cat lover myself. I found this hotel to be perfect If you prefer more of a comfortable, passive vibe.

I liked the friendliness of the staff and closeness to the beach. I did not like the limited dining options. Everyday the restaurants offer the same options. I have a variety of food allergies and had to bring some food and dessert items since they did not provide gluten and dairy free items. The entertainment lacked organization, promotion and training. It says unlimited/free minibar but it does come with restriction. I will say I had great company and our goal was to be open minded and have a great time ( we did!). But it had nothing to do with what the hotel offered. If you have a budget, this hotel will provide the basics. If you are looking for something more upscale, then book La Gran Ventana.

No es lo que yo esperaba.

Definitivamente no es un hotel 3 estrellas, la amabilidad y la atención en el servicio es uno de los puntos más luminosos, pero tienen mucho que mejorar, especialmente en la limpieza. 2 vasos sucios el mismo día,1 en el bar de la playa y otro en el buffet, fue de total desagrado, una politica llamada TURISMO RESPONSABLE les permite dar la excusa para cambiar las sábanas cada 3 días o cuando se los piden pero la realidad esta en qué hay ropa de cama que no la cambian, una botella de agua por persona diariamente ( en mi caso) y una de soda por persona durante la estancia avisado en el check in es lo que verás en la nevera del minibar ( nevera que estaba averiada por cierto), no hay suficientes parqueos, solo 1 piscina es algo que no esperas en un 4 Estellas, aún así la atención del servicio y la amabilidad ayudan a la estancia por más corta o larga que sea, también la condición física dentro de la habitación y si climatización son puntos a favor, y por último el área de la playa que poseen ( playa dorada) les ayuda. Tienen mucho que mejorar

We stayed for a week, wife and kids (12 and 17)the property is old but clean and well kept. Only one swimming pool which was enough for me. The beach is breathtaking specially when the sun is out and the sea is calm. The food at the buffet is good, all the other restaurants food is GREAT! Service is outstanding, very friendly staff. I checked the reviews before I came and I wasn’t sure about this resort. Unfortunately some people don’t need to leave their house for vacation, specially if you have mobility issues, only like fry and unhealthy foods, or like to complain about everything…. Viva Heavens was 10 out of 10 for me. Puerto Plata is a beautiful little town!

Loved this hotel Food was great I love that it changed every night STAFF WAS AMAZING Alex at the front desk Tony at the buffet Wisdonn at the bar just to name a few The Viva Entertainment group did there thing very entertaining We met so many people at the pool area from all over Beach was great 4 min walk from the pool area! We left on Mothers day they had a HUGE sheet cake it tasted amazing! Unitl next time Viva!

What i really live about was the people, omg they are so professional, si nice.They are always checking on you,in case you need help with anything. Great team. I love the receptionist so nice and professional. They make you feel better and more comfortable. From the beginning when you arrived to the resorts, the personal outing was so nic3 and helpful..We had a great time as a family in this resort . We are coming back, great team!!Thanks

I went to a restaurant they are called blend I was sitting there for over 30 minutes and nobody came up to me to say anything. I had one of my friends from the Dominican Republic come to my resort and they were very rude and disrespectful. This property needs a lot of help.

Este resort todo incluido es altamente recomendable, limpio, excelente servicio, buena comida, muchas actividades para hacer, bonita la piscina, la playa, los restaurantes. El personal muy amable !!!!!! Mi unico consejo seria que el equipo de animacion demuestren mas animo, mas energia, las actividades en el area de la playa eran muy basicas, creo que les falta mas emocion, super apagados.

Fue una estadia muy amena, excepto porque es un poco dificil reservar en los restaurantes que hay dentro del hotel. El staff super amable!

Not 4 stars :( disappointing

We were very disappointed. Definitely not a 4 star hotel. A long walk to the beach, room had a view of the parking lot, hot tub was broken, food choice was poor and buffet room was dingy. We went to visit their sister hotel Viva Tangerine which was lovely. New with a great pool and restaurant. Can’t believe Viva Heavens was rated and priced the same.
