Breakfast could be better
I loved the place
Not more than a 3 stars hotel. Needs renovation. In the evening there was some party at the bar and it was very noisy.

Very cosy and clean. Staff was friendly including at the reception
It would be nicer with a Gymn. Breakfast didn’t have much variety
It is my favourite hotel in Maputo good rate for good service. I would like to recommend Expedia more transparency in pricing. In the web page it appears that VIP rate includes breakfast, but in the morning you discover that it doesn't . Is better to correct the web page. I am not so much keen of having huge breakfast in the morning but I don't like to be remembered by the waiters that my rate doesn't include it. Thank you
Hotel room wasn’t clean. The shower hard mould on the tiles and the shower head was covered in scale. Only a few of the shower head holes let the water through. The room had a sickly smell of wet/damp carpet. The room service was poor after 10pm. It came from the bar and is at best poor snacks. The breakfast wasn’t great but ok at a push. The reception staff were good and the bar looked decent.
Comfortable stay in capital city
Comfortable stay with friendly staff. Close to promenade and many government buildings. Market a short tuk-tuk ride awaw or an easy stroll
pleased
good but wifi not so good.
Hotel is quite old, rooms and bed are small. Bit noisy in the evening.
Nice hotel but requires change of carpets
VIP GRAND MAPUTO HOTEL
The hotel is a clean, friendly and welcoming one. Nice outside area to sit and relax. Restaurant is clean and inviting however food served is limited in choice but acceptable.
Good!
Good and reasonably priced hotel. The internet is great in the lobby but not so great in the rooms. The hotel restaurant has limited options but good restaurants are located within walking distance.
Am an usual client of VIP fount it very close to everything and I Like the friendly approach of the workers.
The wifi did not work in the room and you had to stand by the door in order to get a connection. Service was poor and the food on offer was medicore at best
Improve
Wifi in this hotel is bad and very slow. I couldn’t do any work on my computer in the room. If you are on a business trip I would not recommend this hotel. My wife was there with me and she was so upset that she couldn’t anything without Wifi. Upgrade the system guys. It’s not the first time in Maputo on business trip but to work at this hotel forget internet connections
The stay was pleasant and people wete friendly. We only struggled with language to those who dont understand English.
Great hotel if you are able-bodied
I have stayed here before as it is in walking distance of the firms I need to see. It is not a bad hotel, the service is reasonable and the rooms are comfortable. On my last visit however, an accident left me with a broken leg which needed surgery. The hotel were very good about keeping my room open for me and on my return moved me to a disabled room. This is where the stay fell apart! The hotel has no wheelchair and wheelchair access is very difficult (the ramp in front has cobble tiles, the lift is small and maneouvering around the room is tricky as the furniture doens't leave much space to move around. The disable room is very seldom let out so the safe did not work, the phone did not work (reported it twice!) and there were a few other small issues which they quickly sorted out for me. The staff were very friendly though and keen to help. It is a reasonably good hotel if you are able-bodied, terrible if you are not!
Convenient and comfortable
comfortable and convenient
poor service
Never had so many negative issues. the hotel staff does not have enough training. But first i have to comment on the very nice food quality. the only problem was the training of the waiters. Everything went wrong on this stay; they didnt have my reservation, every time we left room, key dodnt work, houskeeping didnt fill up tea/coffee, the pool was not kept cleen. When we went to the pool, noone made sure we got towels and cushions for the sunbeds. We had to ask for drink service. when they did mistake on bill they couldnt fix it. we had to take it as credit.
Complimentary Shuttle Service to/from airport a plus Breakfast average Pity they did not want to give me an invoice because I booked through Hotels.com
Ok Hotel Aircon not working
Airconditioning dit not work, was very very hot Hotel was fully booked and could only get room with Airconditioning working second night
Food excellent, service could have been better
Disappointed that the reception desk seemed a little confused about our booking. Was it one room or two. No one seemed to know as the booking didn't specify. It took quite some time to resolve the extra bed and extra linen
Good business hotel; Service could be friendlier
This was a business stay. Hotel is well located close to major businesses. The front desk service was excellent. The service in the restaurant and pool bar area was service "without a smile" on the whole. The rooms are a generous size. The hot water can take quite some time to come through when showering, so please be patient. The airport shuttle is free, but if you are booking a shuttle to the airport from the hotel please make sure you allow plenty of time, since my shuttle arrived 25 minutes later than I had booked. The hotel is only 15-20 minutes from the airport depending on traffic. Pool area is nice for evening drinks. Wifi worked well throughout the hotel. Overall a good choice for business travellers.
One night only stay, hotel was fairly empty. Good service, clean and food was good.Nice sparkling pool, large pub, fair pricing.
Can stay again but I hope to find a better option
They take 2 hours to get you a bottle of Water, so order a beer. It arrives faster
good choice for biz trip.
the hotel has very good location in center of the city, the room is quite quiet, and the breakfast is fine. a little bit unsatisfied for the service: i booked a single bed room, but get a 2-small-bed standard room without explain, it's 1 or 0.9 meter small bed......
I have stayed at many hotels in Maputi and the VIP Grand hotel has become my regular destination over the last year for my business visits to Maputo. The accomadation is the best value for money you will get in this city. Service is friendly but slow and food is ok. There are a few good neighbourhood restaurants nearby.
Maputo stay
Staff is great, needs better internet , needs softer pillows, breakfast was under par for class of hotel
Good enough, but can be better!
Shuttle service from airport good - must be booked in advance. Restaurant service a little slow, but staff are pleasant and helpful.
I will go back
I stayed in hotels in Maputo several times a year on business, and as I am on a budget, I don't stay at the 5 stars.... This was the best hotel I have stayed in and had the best nights sleep I think I have ever had in Maputo over the years. Part was the parking - I didn't worry about returning to my car in the morning and finding parts missing.
Almost there
The hotel was okay, but not great. The location is the best thing about it. Several small things show that the hotel is not quite what it aims to be. Paper numbers stuck to the wall indicate room numbers, the "shower" drains so slowly that the bath fills up while you are using it. I also had to go back to reception at least once a day as the room key stopped working. Breakfast is ample, but very greasy. Would still use the hotel again, mostly because of how close it is to everything.
VIP Maputo
My Stay was ok until I requested my invoice upon checking out which the hotel refused cause it is confidential. What i don't understand is why confidential when I'm the one making my bookings on this website. Hotel VIP Maputo refused to hand me an invoice that i paid for.
Pleasant stay, but not 5 star.
We enjoyed the 1 night stay, friendly staff, clean room etc. However, we do not believe that this is a 5 star hotel according to International standards. Perhaps 4 star would be more appropriate. Overall, a pleasant stay nonetheless.
Very poor value for money. Never again
I stayed 7 nights at this supposedly 5-star hotel. A shuttle bus picked me up at the airport which was really nice and for free. Location is acceptable but far from perfect if u are doing business and consider that taxis are not cheap. Hotel infrastructure is just below average whereas rates are not. Reception area is spacious and well furnished. Swimming pool is rather small but correct as well as the poolside area. There is no fitness room. Breakfast is acceptable but less than average for a 5*. Bar is ok. Restaurant is a no-no-no. Inedible food. Don't even try it!! Rooms are comfortable and bathrooms are rather small but still acceptable. But rooms are not properly isolated so they are noisy. A/C is good but noisy. Reception staff is professional but not friendly at all. Service in general is UNFRIENDLY and staff will never go the extra mile. Waiters would not even say "Good morning" to their guests. Room service took 45 minutes to bring sparkling water and ice. The free internet service is TERRIBLE and goes at turtle speed (0.06 Mbps download) Unfortunately I had booked through Expedia and had to pay my 7 nights in advance (big mistake) Otherwise I'd walked away. So all in all, a VERY BAD EXPERIENCE with VERY POOR VALUE FOR MONEY. So walk away from this hotel unless everything else is fully booked. Will not recommend it and I'll never come back. Room Tip: Avoid rooms facing the street
Comfortable as always
Clean and friendly - was lovely to see the new furniture around the pool and the newly painted outside sitting area.
Good But Not worth for the Money
I liked the stay but I felt that the hotels service is not as good as it should be. For example we asked for an extra blanked around 11:00 PM and the room service told us that every body has gone or sleeping so we can't give now and than they didn't pick the phone by calling several times. Other than that everything was good, The Night Shift Service is Week.
Nice hotel for business meet., not for vacation
Hotel still close at Feira popular (good for hang out), craft market, restaurants, port, and downtown, not more. from taxi about 5-8min, have a good club bar (1980's)
business is business
it was a good; exceptionally clean and tidy hotel. The price however (as all hotels in Maputo) is over priced by at least US$50 per night. Hotels are not cheap. All staff took immense pride in their work and work place. all staff from reception to cleaners to waiters were very friendly and welcoming. the inet was very good. what would have been nice is a a la carte menu as opposed to buffet dinner every night!! i will recommend this hotel.
Wireless internet access was fast and comfortable.
Maximum 3*
A 3* hotel in all areas.
Last resort if nothing else available in Maputo
breakfast room never open on time, choice and quality below standard; wireless system doesn't work in the rooms and cables not always available.
No way a 5 star hotel
It's location is good but don't walk around at night take a cab. Breakfast was fine but the service was slow. Everything took ages like getting pool towels, staff not very helpful. Everyone was on the make. They didn't seem able to transfer a local call to the room but we were able to call back using their cellphone at an inflated price with no receipt! They quibbled the web price of the room and charged a higher one! Not a lot of English is spoken here either.More like a 3 star than a 5 star hotel. Could really feel that communist legacy where service is an inconvenience.
My preferred hotel when in Transit in Maputo Always friend staff and some good laughs too: Cheers and thanks
Certes il y a les hôtels sur le côté du malecon et de l’océan, cet hôtel était parfait pour le genre de visite de Maputo que j’avais prévu. Tout était parfait!
No wifi available the room

The hotel was kind of located on the outskirts or everywhere. It was a nice place, but with no other restaurants or stores around. You had to catch a car wherever you wanted to go. There was only one restaurant, but the food was pretty good. The bar was limited.
