Excellent location and nice outdoor area. Shower was a little weak and hot water somewhat variable. Nice vibe “old town” choice.

Love the hotel. It is an old building so it doesn't have the sterile environment that modern buildings have, but it has a charm that can't be beat. The bed wasn't very comfortable, though. I can overlook that in view of the charm, location, the hard work of the cleaning lady. I'd stay there again if I go back to San Juan. 15-minute walk to the port. 3-minute walk to the red gate and the path that leads below and around the fortress. There is a park a few doors up the street where you can relax and sit and contemplate life.

Charming with old world charm. Unique decor and comfy bed. Nice rooftop area. Great location for walking around the heart of old San Juan. A little hard to locate the entrance.

The location is amazing, inside of the best park of OSJ. Cute, cozy, with a touch of modernism and old style from the time it was built preserving the city’s historic architecture.

Overpriced

Confusing information. One item said check in was 11 am so we showed up at 11.30 only to be told that it was not until 4 pm. So, we spent 5 hrs walking around. The old building is nice and authentic but grossly overpriced for a simple room and nothing else. And the room had a no window.

Good place to stay but not without issues

The Villa is built in an old and beautiful Amish architecture style. There were leaky roofs in the lobby, our room’s key card stopped working and the front desk/help number was unresponsive. Thankfully the wonderful cleaning staff helped us get in. Additionally, loud fountain water sound would go off randomly at night making it hard to fall asleep. All in all, it was a pretty nice place to stay location wise and got the job done.

We loved it, but honestly the bed was super uncomfortable - hard to sleep… Outside of that, loved the look and feel of it!

Anniversary trip

Lots of character and romantic vibe. Staff friendly but not on staff 24 hrs. Walking distance to r earthing in OSJ. Ac unit loud in our room so had to turn off . Overall lots of charm and for price would stay again .

Nice place but difficult checking in

The place was nice although we were not sent the code to the door ahead of time. We arrived before 6:00 pm coming directly from the airport and the hotel staff had already left for the day. Others staying at the hotel let us in and showed us where our keys were available to us. The room was clean but if you have mobility issues, our room bathroom was up a set of stairs. The rooftop patio was enjoyable. The location of the hotel was great!

A taste of Viejo San Juan with just enough amenities to keep you comfortable. Nicely sized room with large bathroom. Convenient to everything in VSJ. Staff is efficient and not in the way. Would absolutely book here again.

I loved this hotel, so Beautiful and room was very nice. Horrible part, staff! We had no towels in the room. No staff around to provide. I called the sister hotel, Casablanca, and the girl that picked up had the AUDACITY to tell me she couldnt do anything about it and would not bring any to me. She said if I wanted them, i would have to go to them to pick them up myself! Horrible customer service, you could tell on how she spoke to me she really didnt care, sad the staff was so lazy and stupid. But the hotel was beautiful.

Super clean and comfortable. Love the historical colonial vibe as OSJ. The location is perfect and centric. Easy check in followed by short instructions. Short walk to restaurants, El Morro and much more. I’ll come back.

Small boutique hotel, very romantic

There was water leaking from the ceiling and wetting the bed the whole night. No reception during then night, except calling another hotel for help.

Perfect location. Loved this place, it's like staying a night a museum. Friendly staff and seamless check-in and check-out process.

It is a very well kept antique mansion clean and full of charm. a way to rejoice staying in Old San Juan, compared to many other stays there. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, but most importantly, responsive. Fofé made everyone feel welcomed and accommodated.

Was here six months earlier, enjoyed it and decudef to return. Enjoyed the accommodations, and the fact it was quiet. On my next visit, ill try to come back!

Great place to stay! Perfect location

Really nice property but would not consider it a hotel, more like air B and B. Nice quiet neighberhood. Minimal interaction with staff, they left you alone to come and go at your leisure.Room was beautifully laid out, though some of the furniture could use an upgrade in the sitting area. Terrace was gorgeous.

We have stayed a few times at this property. In the middle of all the Old San Juan action but at the same time private, quiet and between two of the nicest plaza's in the city...specially La Rogativa Plaza with its amazing view of the bay. Great staff, friendly and helpful. Basic rooms but with classic old city style. Cozy, clean and with all the basics...including a microwave, small fridge, iron and tv. Our room #8 had a small terrace with direct access to the rooftop were you can see the San Juan Cathedral just a few steps away. Stores, bars, restaurants...everything is across the street or walking distance. No parking available but easy access with Uber or taxi.

Authentic San Juan Stay

Beautiful rustic and authentic night in Viejo San Juan. The hotel is in a gorgeous old Spanish style building in the heart of the old city. Clean, comfortable and good AC. Walking distance from El Castillo, several great coffee, wine and food shops. Near a small church and plaza for reading on a bench. The rooftop has tubs for sunning/bathing and tables for lounging. Easy secure entry.

Beautiful room in historic area. Well kept and clean. Would prefer to have easy access to a person on site to help with any needs. We needed extra towels and we called Casablanca hotel and no one answered. Other than this it was a beautiful place to stay at!

Loved the aesthetic of the hotel but there was a little stench in the first floor in the room with the dining table. Either than that the hotel really shows the idea of an aesthetic San Juan architecture. Loved that everything was walking distance

Wonderful boutique hotel. If you’re looking for the Hilton, this is not your place. Hotel has 8 rooms which open up to a private courtyard. The hotel is situated in Old San Juan. 10 minutes walk the Port of San Juan. Room’s are small but clean, quaint and tastefully decorated. Luna was exceptional!. Would definitely recommend! 5 stars!

Beautiful property

The walls of my room were damp. Water dripping from celieng and thr next morning when i woke i had bug bites.

Power outage and crumbling ceiling. Called management and they immediately moved me to their other hotel. Beautiful building that was having a bad day. After a bit of trouble ended up being a good stay. Great management and staff

This was definitely the place to stay if you want to be in the middle of everything downtown San Juan. I loved the decor in the room and the staff was was extremely friendly.

Heavnely

The hotel is so beautiful as is the room. It’s located in a perfect corner of Old San Juan. The staff is helpful and the hotel is elegant and low key at the same time. The room was beyond gorgeous. My only feedback is that the room didn’t have a window, but it was so nice I can’t believe it wasn’t it a big deal. If I was staying longer than a night or two I may have opted for another room.

Nuestra estadía en el hotel fue muy buena, me encantó lo cerca que está de todo, la habitación muy cómoda y limpia con todo lo necesario. La falta de estacionamiento cerca fue lo único que le faltó.

What a lovely property with a very creative vibe and great location!

Would stay again but maybe rent the top rooms

The place is nice aesthetically. The location in old San Juan is fantastic. The check in and check out is easy and quick. The hotel itself is quiet, however, we had a room on the bottom floor near the entry/courtyard/staff work room. Any sound in the hallway, courtyard or any closing/slamming door is extremely loud. Technical quiet hours are 7pm but people could be coming back quite late and their entry will wake you up. Staff also have conversations in the hallway before 8am and the sound really transfers. There were several mosquitoes in our room on arrival. The AC works great and the room is spacious. Beds are very very soft (in case you prefer a firmer bed). Double shower heads were a nice surprise.

Great location, safe and quiet.

We love Villa Herencia. Have stayed here several times before. Charming and historical. A block from Fortaleza we feel safe and it’s close to everything.

Incedible unique boutique hotel!

This place incredible. So much character! If you want a unique, boutique spot that has a great vibe and history, this is your hotel. It’s a gem! The only downside is there isn’t 24/7 front desk or room service.

Stunning property. Great price compared to others in the area. Very comfortable bed and the living space worked out perfectly. Upstairs has a hot tub and nice seating areas. Coffee in the morning. Right near the forts trail around the peninsula. What else do you need!?!? Definitely coming back

My stay at the Horencia in Old San Juan was largely enjoyable, offering a delightful mix of convenience and charm. The hotel's location is its crowning glory, nestled in the heart of Old San Juan, making it an awesome spot for explorers keen on soaking up the rich culture and vibrant atmosphere of this historic area. However, it's worth noting that the property does seem to be showing its age a bit and could benefit from some updating to enhance the overall guest experience. From the décor to some of the facilities, a refresh could really elevate the Horencia to its full potential. On another note, while the morning ritual of coffee and tea is appreciated, the options were somewhat limited. Expanding the selection to cater to a wider range of preferences would be a wonderful touch, ensuring all guests can start their day on the right note. In conclusion, despite these minor areas for improvement, my stay was indeed a great one. The Horencia’s prime location in Old San Juan more than made up for its shortcomings, offering a unique and memorable experience. I look forward to seeing how this charming hotel evolves in the future.

In the heart of old San Juan

Villa Herencia was great! What a perfect location for exploring old San Juan. The only downer was lack of parking throughout the city, but that's to be expected. The parking by El Convento is almost always full; it is a tiny lot so don't plan to park there. The best option is the Dona Fela parking lot about a ten minute walk away. Google that on your way in and drop your car there, then walk. The lot is about $35 for 24 hrs.

The rooms are so quaint and nostalgic. Bed was so comfortable we slept 10 hrs after traveling by air for 2 days. We would love to come back here again some day! Thank you Fofee😊

The hotel is very convenient for walking around Old San Juan. I found the staff very helpful, in terms of recommending places to eat, and helping make a reservation for a 4:30 am taxi!

We stayed for one night in old San Juan in this hotel. Overall, it’s lovely. There was some construction being done on part of the balcony railings and the rooms were a little bit musty but overall very nice. We had a car with us and it was impossible to find parking on a Saturday night. Also, staff goes home at 5 PM so we checked in at 5:30 and had trouble knowing where to park etc.

We did not spend much time in the hotel but, everything was great.

Old world charm. The floors in the room were dirty. Netting over the bed was creepy. I would not recommend.

I recently had a very disappointing one-night stay (Dec 29 to 30, 2023) at Villa Herencia Hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico (Old Town). I had booked on Expedia and paid USD 382 for one night (taxes included but not even breakfast). I felt this was an exorbitant amount of money given the very poor quality of the room and the hotel in general. I complained at check out; they told me to send my complaints to the owner/manager (which I did), and they never even bothered to reply. First the good points (and there were very few): - the Front Desk person was friendly and tried to be helpful, although the hours of the front desk were hard to figure out - The AC worked well, as did the mosquito netting around the bed (which was necessary, see below) - The location in the Old Town was convenient. Now for the complaints – and it is hard to know where to begin: Everything from a maintenance & cleanliness standpoint was a huge disappointment. Common areas and our room were shabby and dirty, especially the floors. The entire ground floor smelled of mold. The restroom on the ground floor, when I used it the first day, was filled with unsightly debris and junk. The rooftop terrace was a disaster: mosquito infested due to standing water everywhere; this made it impossible to sit outside without being devoured by insects; an ugly hodge-podge of cheap plastic furniture; dirt, dead leaves and other debris all of the place – it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned or swept in ages;

Beautiful place in a unique location. We love the terrace and being in a historic spot. Hard to get there by taxi from the airport!

Charming Stay

Everything about our stay was charming. The hotel is OLD - like real old - but so well decorated. I felt like I was staying in Old-timey San Juan. Despite the old feel/look, the bed was really comfortable and the shower was large and nice. Also, the staff was really friendly and accommodating. The hotel is also very close to a church which makes navigating really easy and the church is easy to spot throughout the city.

Old San Juan

Very quaint and romantic hotel. The self check in was pretty seamless. The rooms feel quite tight and the lighting isn’t ideal for getting ready, but it was a comfortable bed. There are undergoing some construction, so the overall aesthetic will be improved when that is finished. Great location for walking and exploring.

This is quite a find. Location is second to none. Staff are helpful. Accommodations, though small, are quaint, comfortable, charming, and romantic. I would stay here again. So glad I choose this place.

Loved our stay, great location.

First, the staff was friendly. Just a host and one cleaning person. The place is close to lots of the attractions you would want to see in Old San Juan. But the place was definitely not like the pictures. Our room was about 12 x 12 feet with no windows and very dark. It had a musty smell. The bathroom was very small and had a plastic electrical outlet cover on the shower wall with caulk around it. The second floor had 2x4s and plywood for the railing. I went in the dining room to sit down and when I pulled the chair out the arm fell off. There was also what looked like rust coming out of one of the switches. The place was just really run down. For us the plus was that my wife grew up about 50 feet down the street, so it brought back childhood memories.

Everything was wonderful, our room was so cute & I like that they kept it in the old style instead of rehabbing the walls, etc…. Very authentic old San Juan. The bathtubs on the roof were a great way to relax after walking all day!

Amazing Sooo beautiful

Loved the authenticity of the interior portion of this hotel! Beautiful! Dining and bars within walkable distance. Also, a great scenic view of the ocean. Only downfall is limited parking by the hotel. Plan to pay for parking nearby or walk a ways to get there.

The hotel is well located and the rooms are nice, however its a little bit noisy. Also, since they dont have staff 24 hrs its really complicated to get in touch with someone (even though they have a 24 hrs phone - no one answers).

We came late from a social activity, and the check in was easy! Parking at the Church in front of the Convento! Beautiful antique room! Surprise am w Fofé, one of our favorite local rock and roll musical show! We definitely come back w our friends! Money value great!

This was the 3rd stay here. The property needs some upkeep but the people are friendly and you cant beat the location.
