Great hotel in Trieste
Very nice hotel, centrally located, good breakfast selection. Clean room and common area. Staff were very friendly.
This hotel is meticulously maintained. Every square inch of space is super clean! The room view is great. I would definitely stay here again next time I come to Trieste.
I arrived around midnight. The receptionist was courteous, but my room was below expectations. No closet and no safe. I was very tired, took a hot shower and went to bed. Unfortunately the heating was set for summer, couldn’t be adjusted and I woke up after 2 hours with my feet frozen. After another attempt to adjust the temperature, the night clerk moved me into another room. With closet and an extra duvet that I wrapped around myself and finally I was able to thaw and fall asleep!
excellent
This was a high end hotel at a very good price. The hotel was spotless and staff very accommodating. Great experience.
Very nice boutique hotel. Great pizza place in the same building. Excellent buffet breakfast. Walkable to most attractions and not far from train station and cruise port.
Front Desk staff always alert and prepared to help. Breakfasts were excellent. Room air conditioning did not appear to work well. 100 Euro charge to use sauna is excessive and we declined.
Good clean accommodation in a central area.
Very clean and comfortable…suitable for a short stay.
Wonderful hotel that is convenient and comfortable. Staff are friendly, rooms are charming, and breakfast is delicious.
We loved the Italian flair to this beautiful retreat within the city. Staff were amazing and location was very convenient to transportation.
.
A stylish and characterful hotel in a 19th century building, which was previously flats - one of which (on the 3rd floor) was the home of the famous writer James Joyce. The hotel celebrates its literary heritage, with a selection of books in each room, and also a comfortable and tastefully furnished reading room. Unlike some hotels which purport to have libraries, this is the real thing - it is well stocked with high brow literature by or about Joyce and other famous writers from Trieste, in English and Italian.
Very nice and clean
Nice small hotel. Got a recommendation for dinner to a small seafood restaurant with great food and character.
This place is amazing. Clean and friendly. Great services
The only thing was that the breakfast was there and ready but he wouldn’t let us have and because it wasn’t 7:00 a.m. yet.
Great staff at the reception. Very knowledgeable staff about the area and super courteous. Always willing to help you out. Great location.
Beautiful suite-very roomy and well appointed. Nice staff. Great breakfast
Staff friendly, beautiful room ,very clean
Great place!
Trieste was the 5th stay on my trip on business in Europe this summer and all the other hotels were okay, but this was one was fantastic. I had a low bar after the last 4, but I was very happy with my stay here. The rooms were beautiful with the great hard wood floors, giant windows and very clean hotel.
Air conditioning did not work properly.
Great location , clean rooms, friendly service and nice restaurant
Great place. Would stay again in a heartbeat
Trieste stay
Comfy well appointed hotel, helpful staff, good breakfast. Good location
Excellent staff, very clean and great location!
Beyond beautiful hotel with amazing rooms and services!
The hotel was fabulous. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We were upgraded to the James Joyce Suite, which was an amazing room! Others in our group had different rooms and all were really great. Breakfast was incredible with lots of choices. The location was really good for walking to many interesting places and eating. Highly recommend this hotel!
Our room was very special, beautifully decorated and spacious. Hotel staff was helpful with dinner recommendations and reservations. The location was good, we walked everywhere.
Lovely art deco
Beautiful property with large rooms.
Super friendly and helpful staff, nice clean rooms. Close to shopping and restaurants.
Very unique property. The rooms were updated and very comfortable. The breakfast, which was included was exceptional. We enjoyed the convenience of the location and the excellent dining options within walking distance. The staff is very accommodating, friendly and helpful
No AC!
Air conditioning was advertised but didn’t exist. Room was 77 degrees. For my American self that is too hot to sleep especially when the only blanket provided is a big duvet. It was fine overall. Would not book again though.
Look No Further, FAB EXPERIENCE!
1,000% Loved it! When I’m Italy it should feel like Italy. This hotel was quaint, and wonderful. The room was spacious (what a surprise), the inlaid parquet wood flooring was beautiful, completely updated bathroom, high quality doors & finishes, quite atmosphere, no road noise, and even an elevator to the lobby for when moving in/out luggage. Otherwise the stair case was beautiful. Breakfast was fabulous! Seriously, when Trieste is ever it my future plans, this is where I’ll stay!!!
Wonderful hotel. Our (base) room was smaller than expected, but clean, functional, and tastefully decorated. We particularly liked the mini library in each room. The included breakfast was also good. Where the hotel really distinguished itself however are its staff - from even before we checked in they went above and beyond to make our stay in Trieste as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Highly recommended.
Excellent accommodation with great staff.
Excellent accommodation and the staff was very helpful in making reservations and arranging taxis. The breakfast was also superb. We only had a single night stay, but would make it my #1 choice if I visit Trieste again.
Good communication
Very good communication via message service as our flight was cancelled and we had to stay in Frankfurt instead of Trieste and then direct from airport to cruise terminal. The transfer arrangements were very well organised and we were grateful.
Kind of difficult to get to side street to unload car if you don’t know that is where the you are to go. Otherwise nice place and decent breakfast
Nice choice in Trieste
Hotel has a great style, very well appointed. Parking is a bit expensive and breakfast could be better arranged: not try to stick everyone on one room leaving the other empty, especially in Covid periods.
The hosts were very gracious and helpful, wonderful breakfast, and, in general, one of the best bed-and-breakfast I’ve stayed in in Europe.
Only here one night but everything has been excellent, looking forward to breakfast
Rooms and lobby are gorgeous.
City centre hotel.
The hotel tricky to find & had no onsite parking. The room was clean & comfortable. The surrounding area was lacking late night restaurants but others it was acceptable. My only complaint is that during breakfast some of the waiting staff were not wearing their face masks correctly and the breakfast seating was crowded.
Nice location. Wonderful staff. Excellent service. And the property is immaculate.
Ask for a room with an outside window
We would have been happier if we had a room with an outside window...felt a bit claustrophobic with a window that went nowhere. 20 minutes walk to bars and restaurants.
very nice hotel, great location, spacious room.
service was good but can improve, they provide us w inaccurate info, sent us to a pizza place when we inquire about meat restaurant, and although they provide info on touristic sites they dont go beyond that, or offering to make dinner reservations or letting you know how busy some restaurants are... or providing info regarding the little to none restaurants open on sundays... offering options for dinner.
The staffs were helpful and courteous. The breakfast was very good with many selection of fresh fruits and pastries.
Staff ,comfort, style ,would recommend Victoria hotel, great breakfast
Professional and very comfortable
Very comfortable. Well managed, Gracious and friendly staff
Location, history and great service add up to one great stay
Very beautiful hotel with nice professional staff.
I like everything, the style, the people the rooms, how clean is, the location.
A perfect hotel. Luxury and good value. Breakfast is one of the best I've had, especially the fresh pastry selection. Good location, too. 10 minutes walk to plaza unita Italia. Trieste is a beautiful city.
Hotel Victoria, Trieste
A pleasant comfortable hotel. Good breakfast choices. Friendly staff.
Very friendly staff, good breakfast, room very clean, hotel well maintained. About a 10 to 15 minute walk to all the sights.
We are 2 couples from the USA traveling down the dalmatien coast, starting in Trieste. Great city, great hotel with terrific staff. Eva
Wonderful, classic hotel with nice details and a literary history. Walkable location to sights and dining options.
Delightful
Really friendly, welcoming and helpful staff which made it a pleasure to stay here. Well positioned hotel with elegant rooms
All this and James Joyce too!
A friend and I had a night and a day to spend in Trieste on our way back to London from Zagreb. I’m so glad we chose to stay at Victoria Hotel Letterario. We were enchanted by the beautiful redesign of a period building in a very convenient and walkable location. Our rooms were gorgeous - spacious and elegant with canopy beds, large bathrooms with jacuzzi tubs , and even bookshelves offering a great selection including several titles by Trieste’s most famous ex-pat literary resident, James Joyce. We were delighted to find out from the super- helpful young front desk staff that the Irish writer actually lived in the building at some point during the eleven years he spent in Trieste. Our brief time in the city presented several memorable highlights (Castello di Miramare!) so a return visit is a must. There’s no question about where to stay: Victoria Hotel Letterario, si per favore!
Excellent Hotel, attentive staff, great location and terrific breakfasts to start the day!
Fantastic hotel great location would fully recomend this hotel our secobd visit and will be back Trieste is great for food and fashion
Perfect place to stay.
Wonderful breakfast. Parking a few blocks away. Nice room, no carpets...which we like. Helpful staff. Walking distance to town center.
Beautiful Hotel
What a great hotel. Just gorgeous. As elegant and modern a hotel as we have seen anywhere in Europe. The hotel staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. The rooms was spacious, modern and well appointed. Bed was very comfortable. There were ample outlets for charging devices. Breakfast was awesome with so many hot and cold choices. Highly recommended.
great family stay!
if i could give 6 stars i would! the staff was so friendly right from the start. our room was amazing and a luxurious fit for a family of four. the breakfast was delicious and i would absolutely recommend the hotel to others.
Comfortable and quiet hotel close to great food
We talked regularly with the staff and they were attentive and helpful on a number of topics. Hotel serves an above-average breakfast and gives a nice list of local restaurants and walking tours of Trieste. Only minor complaints were two mosquitos in room on our first evening and the TV channels. Not sure if they walked in on our clothing or were inside the hotel. The TV listings, which appeared to be grouped by language, didn't match the actual TV channels, so we couldn't really watch anything.
Stylish hotel with excellent staff
Excellent stylish hotel clearly renovated not long ago to high standard. Our superior room on the top floor nicely designed but with intrusive roof beams and no walk in shower
Comfort in style
Stylish building, sophisticated front desk staff, excellent service!
Lovely Hotel, great location
The weather was not too great for our stay in Trieste, but the hotel and staff were excellent. The location was good with plenty of places to eat near by, we parficularly liked the pizzaria just round the corner.
Heart of the city
Excellent hotel, very close to restaurants, shopping, bars. The staff were very obliging to anything you asked for. Highly recommend this Hotel.
Perfect service at a great hotel
The two items that top by list when looking for a great hotel are cleanliness and service, with location and amenities following close behind. Well, this hotel has it all! The staff were incredibly observant, friendly, and helpful. We had a baby in a stroller and they noticed we were arriving and opened a side door to make it easier to enter, brought out a high chair at breakfast, and had a baby bed ready in our room without us even asking! (They actually emailed us ahead to ask, but I missed it in my junk mail.) The room was spacious and clean with air conditioning that worked very well. Last, but not least there was a delicious breakfast with fresh fruits, juices, coffee, pastries, eggs, bacon and sausage, raw meets, yogurts, and more! The location is a short walk to the historic area, but not too far and seemed to have plenty around it as well that we didn't have a chance to explore. I don't think you could go wrong at this hotel, it's a winner!
Nice rooms no good location
Too far from all the activities. Staff was friendly but unprofessional. Smalll lobby. Our luggage sat by front door the whole time we had breakfast . I had to say something for him to put in another room until room is ready. No room service, mini bar is a joke. We were sick in the room the full two days and there weren't many places for food. Our driver came to pick us up for our flight and the hotel clerk had him go to our room and get luggage. The tv had 5 English channels but all news and no movie rentals. Rooms were very nice though.
Beautiful and comfortable
Great hotel with all modern amenities. Beautifully decorated, amazingly comfortable king bed, whirlpool tub. Breakfast was good, nice selection of cereals, breads, fresh fruits, fruit drinks, coffee, espresso, eggs, cheeses. Approximately 15 minute flat walk to square, waterfront and lots of dining and shopping options. 15 minute uphill walk to castle/cathedral.
The hotel is beautiful, the staff was very nice, breakfast was good, very clean, overall very nice. This hotel is not car friendly, if you are driving it is hard to stop in front of the hotel, parking far away and with a fee per day
Good city hotel
Clean, modern. Bit of a walk to decent bars/ restaurants - but excellent breakfast. I miss tea/ coffee making facilities!!
Best spot in Trieste
Perfect spot! Very close to the city center (walking), gorgeous hotel, very nice staff (especially to Americans), great breakfast (included), and very comfortable accommodations. When we come back, this is the only place we will stay!
Beautifully renovated hotel
Beautiful old hotel that is fully renovated. They upgraded us to a better room, which was nice. A 10-15 minute walk to the downtown area and parking was in an offsite garage a few blocks away. It was a little tricky figuring out where to park our car to unload the luggage, however. Overall, an excellent experience.
Great hotel near Duomo
The only complaint we would have about this hotel is that jn the very modern bathroom there was insufficient shelf space for toiletries.
Relaxing weekend away
Well finished hotel room, friendly staff, some good local restaurants about. 20 min walk to the square and busier night life.
Wonderful
Great hotel centrally located. The room was beautiful, great bathroom and wonderful staff. The breakfast buffet was perfect too.
Beautiful hotel in nice downtown location
Nice older hotel apparently recently remodeled to what I would say is a 5 star level. 0nly downside is the rooms are on the small side.
A Jewel of a Find!
From our welcome, the free breakfast, ample free on site parking the who,e experience was great. Just don't let them up grade you to the suite if you have difficulty with stairs as the bedroom is in a loft and you must be mobile!
A bit of a hike
This hotel is definitely not in the city hub. It's a bit of a walk to the historical areas and the water. Not too much in the immediate area, but there is a good area for shopping and restaurants about a 10 minute walk away. This hotel is not close to the train or bus stations.
Recommended Hotel for short city break
Excellent hotel in every way. Great room, helpful and supportive staff. Good base from which to explore this interesting city.
Super helpful and welcoming front desk staff. Small annoyances with the room - air conditioning needed to be reset by front desk, shower drain needed unclogging and no tissues in the room.
We had a very nice honeymoon stay at the Victoria Hotel. The staff was very accommodating, and the property was gorgeous. Location was perfect for us, and they had great recommendations for local restaurants that we truly enjoyed.
Hidden Gem
We spent 3 nights before a cruise and had a wonderful time seeing Trieste and staying a great hotel! The room was clean and pretty, the breakfast was outstanding, the bed was good, the staff was very helpful with finding places to go and restaurants.
A Gem
Hotel Victoria is a lovely hotel with an attentive staff. Rooms are beautifully decorated and have all mod cons, including heat control. My single room was perfect. It is about a 10 minute walk to Piazza Unita and the Old Town.
Nice hotel.
Nice hotel. Good location. Great staff. Staff were great a recommending places to eat.
Convenient location
Arrived tired and around 5 pm. driving through heavy foot and road traffic. The staff was very patient and efficient. I came from Canada hoping to find my elderly aunt who entered assisted living. Daniela, Manuele and Frederico, aka Stage! went beyond limite to assist me. They also fit me in for another night. The highlight...finding my aunt. Breakfast was fantastic, coffee great.
stefan
Nice hotel near the city centre.
Exceptional Venue
The we could not fault and Trieste was a fine city not having been there before. The whole experience was very enjoyable. Michael Effemey
Great hotel in a much underrated city
This is a great hotel in a fantastic city. The staff are amazing and go way beyond expectations to deliver great service - would very much recommend
One of the best hotel we have ever been
we arrived late and the person at the reception was very welcoming . He helped us with the luggage explain everything concerning the hotel . we were very tired and we really appreciated his kindness. We were very happy that the internet worked very well !!! we were not expecting that , it was a very nice surprise!!! the room was very clean and confortable. we slept very well.
All you could hope for
Everything was lovely. The room was comfortable. They even had big plush bath towels. The breakfast was lovely. The staff were as helpful as could be. The spa was great. The location was convenient. We loved it there. Parking was nearby, easy and discounted because of the hotel.
Outstanding Service and Accommodation
Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Trieste. Great location , fantastic property, service second to none. Take advantage of their spa facility, an amazing experience. Best breakfast ever also
Nice comfortable hotel well located
Hotel has a nice boutique hotel style, the rooms are comfortable. The staff is very nice, excellent breakfast included! Only negative is the parking which has to be paid every time you take the car vs a flat rate per day.
Lovely hotel and lovely Trieste!
Lovely hotel in central Trieste
Lovey time in Trieste- make sure that you take the boat ride to the castle fo Miramar. Find the big plazza, turn towards to sea. By the convention building there, a tourist ship will take you to the castle, the cost one way is around 4 euros. There is also a wonderful bookstore and various museums to visit. And to the young man who stopped what he was doing to give us directions, without us asking, on such a hot day, our eternal gratitude. I wish I knew your name, but your graciousness will always be remembered.
great hotel
The staff was very helpful and friendly. Extremely attentive to my requests.

Excellent connection to Joyce. Larger historic hotel but a bit distant from the historic heart of Trieste but near Cafe San Marco and a renowned seafood restaurant
