The beds were the best of our trip. So comfy and cold AC. Some of the staff is less than excited to be there, but they get their job done. Great location and price.
Location is great.
Great location and walkable to most places.
Good location
It was in a great location (near tourist area, walking distance to restaurants, and the market. The staff were very friendly. Nice hot shower. Clean room. Good wifi connection. There is no safe in the room and the door locknis not a deadbolt. The front desk offered to keep my valuables in their safe
Great value hotel in the center of San Ignacio. Stayed 3 nights and would definitely stay here again.
Centrally located hotel. Many dining options at Burns street and tour companies.
The staff was very helpful and the location is ideal.
Nothing
Nothing!!
This is our second time staying at this hotel and we think it is perfect. The price is fantastic. It is clean with TV, hot showers, and a mini-fridge. It also has parking out back and tons of restaurants up and down the street.
Pros: Budget Friendly. Central to everything! Their partnerships with Tukan Shuttles and Adventures plus the Midas Hotel (Pool) made creating a memorable experience almost effortless. Staff are friendly, kind, and truly take the time to know you. I feel like I have made genuine connections. I felt safe the entire time I was there. The front desk always has someone there 24/7 to assist you - they even lock the main entrance gate after a certain hour for extra safety (don't worry, there is always someone there to let you in of you decide to stay out and enjoy the night life). The facilities were excellent and having laundry services and a smart TV truly made it feel like home away from home. Cons: It can be loud. As the hotel is on the main street, you often can hear people laughing at the bars accross the street or in the park behind. Walls are not terribly thick so you may even hear your neighbor a time or two. The TV remote was unreliable which was a shame as the TV itself has no way of operating it without the remote (staff did happily help me every time I had an issue though!). Some of the beds are incredibly comfortable while others are solid/ hard. I was fortunate to have 2 beds in my room to choose though which made this less of an issue and more of something to note. (The beds might not be perfect but the staff again will do whatever they can to ensure you have a comfortable stay). Overall, I would highly recommended The Venus Hotel.10/10 would stay again!
Great location, okay experience
The location of this hotel couldn’t have been better! Extremely walkable to many restaurants and bars. The hotel itself was good—exactly what we were expecting for the price. Our general experience wasn’t the best but it was out of the hotel’s control. There were wildfires in the area in May when we went due to the drought. It was extremely smokey, and the A/C blew the smoke into the room. All of our clothes smelled of smoke after departing. I also have pretty bad allergies so the smoke affected my sinuses. Also, the lack of water in the area also caused power outages each night we were there so the AC would turn off and the room became extremely hot. thankfully, the outages didn’t last more than an hour…but it got very hot. Again, the hotel itself was good—we just visited at a bad time of the year.
Great budget friendly hotel. Lots to do and friendly people.
Venus Hotel
It’s ok. Good for the price. Very nice the people that work in the front desk
Staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms were modest but comfy.
Location, location, location 😊 Mattress was a bit worn but bearable.
Venus hotel was clean and centrally located. It shares a pool with the Midas hotel a few blocks away. It was a short walk for a swim. Conveniently, located for shopping and dining options in San Ignacio. I would stay there again.
Excellent stay at the Venus Hotel! The hotel is very close to plenty of shopping and street food. There is free parking, and the “sister hotel” Midas has an excellent free pool.
Venus connected us with Tucan shuttles for transport from BZE to San Ignacio. Super easy, driver was kind and informative. Professional kind 24hr desk w/lock up security for the steps entering from 12-5am. Located in town w/entry on street. A few shops and places to eat just outside steps. Basic small room, quiet, sparsely set up, clean, comfy bed, fan & air-conditioner! Can see town’s market from window and about 2 blocks from the river. Cool balcony wraps building. Lots of morning birds. Would stay again.
Perfect for Us
It was perfect for us. We had our daughter with us and there was plenty of room so she could have her own space. Great air conditioning. The location was right on the Main Street making it easy to get to everything including the bus stop.
Very small space, a/c didn't do much, limited common area to lounge. Room looked onto an empty lot and the welcome center, which was noisy, and the bathroom was stinky like sewage. Staff was extremely helpful and accommodating: helped with laundry and drying shoes.
Very basic place
beds are so so. Service is so so. Just beds and a very basic bathroom. If you’re coming to see the market the location is great, that was the only reason we stayed there. Backpacker style no frills accommodations.
We spent two nights here. On our first stay we had a simple room that was clean and functional. On the way back they upgraded us two nicer rooms which were larger and more comfortable beds. We would stay here again. Safe and easy to get around.
We had a great stay at the Venus - the location is excellent, close to bars, restaurants, the market and the bus terminal. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms clean and comfortable. It was a little noisy, mainly due to the dumpster truck at 5am and general street noise.
Front desk guy, gave a excellent service
Great location for walking. Room was very comfortable and the AC worked great! I really enjoyed eating breakfast on the little porches. Staff was very attentive and I love that they sold cold water bottles and beer.
Everything we needed was within walking distance of the hotel. Perfect location....we WILL be back!
A very nice stay
We had to suite which was two rooms. Nice and quiet. Rooms were just everything we needed. The check in and employees were nice and very helpful.
Excellent location and good price. I felt safe and the room was quiet
Super cute room. Nice and cozy. Perfect location and excellent desk staff.
Great location in San Ignacio. Excellent restaurants across the street. Simple accomodations, great value. Must climb a set of stairs to enter Venus Hotel.
The price was excellent; it was one of the only hotels in the heart of San Ignacio that offered private rooms with private bathrooms AND air conditioning at this rate. But, if you are expecting a very nice, swanky hotel, look elsewhere. This is a perfect hotel for those who understand that Belize is about being outside and seeing the sights and the area and hanging out in the bars and restaurants that are literally right down the steps from the hotel. If you need to be pampered and have all the comforts of home or a fancy vacation, this is not for you. It can be noisy up until 10p/11p on the weekends, but the location is prime: you are in the heart of San Ignacio, near all the best restaurants; the local daily market takes place about 500 yards away; and if you are driving in from Belize City/the airport, you do not need to wander through the VERY confusing and unmarked San Ignacio streets, as this place is located very close to the bridge.
Very run down and was so noisy
Excellent location No hot water in sink, poor quality shower
It was ok
Didn't really look like the pictures, it was a decent place to stay though. There was an air conditioner which was good but no hot water in the shower
Excellent location
Excellent location in the middle of it all. Good price. Staff was friendly and helpful. We had a corner room on top floor, with good view of park and town. Hot water. In room AC.
The rooms were updated and clean. Air conditioner and fans were necessary for comfort. No microwave or fridge. Geckos we’re great company. Great location for soccer and shopping, food and tour companies.
The location is great, the desk clerk helped me get my luggage ro the shuttle a block from the hotel. Staff was courteous and friendly.
Great little place
This is a wonderful little place with friendly and helpful staff. They were very knowledgeable about getting us transportation to the places we wanted to go. It has an adorable balcony that overlooks the little town square, in the middle of everything and right at the bus drop if you took that in from Belize city or elsewhere. I would recommend for anyone to stay in this great little spot!
Place is very clean all the staff is very friendly and professional
Great place to stay in the middle of town, walking distance to the best restaurants and the market on Saturday. The rooms were clean and comfortable with air conditioning and hot water showers. Cesar checked us in, was very helpful and gave us the best restaurant recommendations. Definitely recommend if you’re staying in town!
Great place to stay!
The property was in a great location. Walking distance to a great restaurant that I went to 3 times. Staff was very friendly. Room was small but adequate. There was a TV in the room as advertised, however, there was no remote and the staff said none of them work. I guess it was just decoration. Our room had a queen and a twin bed. Twin bed was soooo uncomfortable. The mattress had a hole in the middle I kept rolling into and then all you felt was metal springs poking you in the back all night. No sleep was had. (Room 16 - avoid the twin bed). Otherwise it was a great value for the price and I would stay there again. Just not room 16 until they replace the mattress.
Great location
This hotel is located right in the heart of town and close to many services and good places to eat. We were a little unsure at first, only because we are traveling by motorbike and their parking was off site and not secure. The staff was very kind and accommodating and we were able to park in a different spot which was secure. Our room was a little small and had no bug screens on the window, but overall it was good.
Cost central spot
Nice hotel with nice staff, centrally located. Our room was very small but the bed was comfortable
Right downtown in the center of restaurants and bars. Great for a short stay or excursion hub
Great hotel
Great hotel and awesome location. Staff was really friendly and helpful. Parking is behind the building, very convenient.
It was close to restaurants, walking distance to stores. And it was clean!
Great stay
Stayed 3 nights. Great location with free parking. Room is clean and cozy. Staffs were nice and welcoming.
Best spot in town!!
My stay was overall awesome! I had my own bed, bathroom, AC, fan. Anything I needed to spend a couple of nights was available. I felt safe and comfortable as well as a solo female traveler. The front desk clerks were very helpful as well! Kudos to Chris who really helped me during my stay. I appreciate you!! The best part is walking down the stairs and straight into one of my favorite restaurants- The Burnz. Delicious! Though it may not be as quiet at night due to the night life around even with the Covid curfew, it is definitely worth it. I slept with ear plugs and called it a night. I would definitely recommend staying here.
Great location
Liked the location, room great for 1 would be tight for 2 people. Parking was difficult to figure out as it is a pay lot but free with stay. Once I Figured it out it was great.
It was located next to all the restaurants and bars.
Clean room and bathroom with TV and quiet AC and ceiling fan- Kind, friendly, and very helpful staff Amazing front desk personnel!!
Venus supplies parking. It was very centrally located. The bar/grill across the sidewalk was good quality friendly service And the manager Mario helped us book tours through family contacts that were amazing. The hotel serves cookies coffee bananas, peanut butter jelly bread and cereal. Inexpensive lodging with minimal amenities. But well suited for budget travel. Small space.
Nice stay
Expensive but comparable to others in the area. It is located on the walking street so it’s very convenient. Staff is super helpful and friendly.
Great Value!
Much better than expected! Very clean facility with friendly staff. Restaurants a few steps away. Hotel faces a pedestrian only street, and the market is a couple of minute walk behind it. Bed was comfortable, continental type breakfast and coffee were decent. Air conditioning in room worked great. Only negatives were it was a little noisy, and the bathroom sink was small with no ledge or shelf to place items upon. Other than that, this hotel was a great value and I would not hesitate to stay here again!
Fantastic location, right in the town centre. Friendly staff and clean rooms. However, as it's right downtown, it's also loud on the weekends as it's located between bars. There's a karaoke bar on the street behind it and you can hear the songs and singing.
Few step to the restaurants and friendly staff.
Very convenient, close to the restaurants and to the tourist booking offices. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Fast internet connection. The room door needs some adjustments.
This property overlooks the town plaza and the secure parking lot. It was quiet and the patio was nice. It had hot water and good water pressure. The bed was super comfy and Ceasar - front desk was most helpful in providing a map with suggestions for where to eat and how to get around San Ignacio. Thank you so much.
Basic no frills hotel for tourists. Excellent location, nice staff...bonus you can use the pool at their other hotel if you wish. Very basic breakfast. Overall for the price...no complaints.
Excellent choice for a place to get sleep with a bathroom before you head out for your adventures. Conveniently located with adventure tour operators like PacZ right opposite it. The bus stop is also nearby with lots of restaurants and a couple of ATM's around. PS: the toilet is very small - could barely open the legs. It's a budget hotel so manage your expectations. Clean and a good night's sleep.
Centrally Located Budget Hotel
This Hotel is very quaint with basic accommodations. We chose it because of its location in the city center. It is very convenient to bars, restaurants, and tour company’s. All of the staff that my wife and I encountered were very friendly and helpful. We had a delay in our arrival do to an illness and it was no problem for them to change our dates to accommodate us. Larger hotels would never do this. Overall I liked this place and would definitely stay there again.
My stay
The beds are a bit hard and lumpy, but im particular with beds. My last night / morning there sounded like a child running around upstairs and someone sliding furniture repeatedly across the floor and lots of hammering going on. Not sure if from the hotel or attached businesses.
You cannot beat the location. Take a left outside of the hotel and you are in the middle of San Agnacio. No need for a vehicle to go get food or see the middle of the town. You can walk everywhere and it is 5 seconds from the property. It is a great hotel and priced right. Clean, comfortable bed, wifi works in the room and the shower has good pressure and warmth. Highly recommend the Venus Hotel while staying in San Agnacio.
it was convenient to downtown, which meant it was also a bit busy.
Great Stay
Excellent location with wonderful and helpful staff
Hotel was clean with a very friendly staff. Breakfast was limited for choices but okay. I had a little hard time finding the location but locals gave good directions.
Like the street outside. Plenty of restaurants and shops, which were open into the evening. Had a great common balcony area on the second floor where you could comfortably watch and listen to activity on the facing street.
It is definitely bare bones but fine for our purposes: clean and conveniently located. Also, Christian at the front desk was especially helpful and accommodating.
Venus hotel was an absolute delight to stay at. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by the proximity to the bus stop (less than a two minute walk). We were able to take advantage our their sister hotel’s pool and were provided with towels. For the price - this place is highly recommended. Close to the city center, walkable to restaurants and tour meeting spots. They is also a delicious street vendor close by (try their fry jacks). The front desk staff were friendly and helpful with a kind and sincere smile on their faces! The room was clean and comfortable and suited our needs wonderfully. There aircon and a fan for added breeze on those warm humid nights. They have delicious breakfast cookies in the morning with bananas, cereal and toast.
The hotel is right in the middle of town, walking distance of everything. The place was clean and had the necessities. They provide a map of the city, filtered water, coffee and toast in the mornings, pool access at another hotel, etc. Caesar the night time receptionist/concierge was awesome! Extremely helpful, answered all my questions! Definitely happy with the place and the price we paid
The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location was great, right in the center of town with access to restaurants, tour companies and other points of local interest. The hotel also had an arrangement for use of a swimming pool at a close by hotel.
Secure location to base your Belize adventure from
Great location steps from the bus depot, restaurants, tour shops, & directly on Burns Ave. Quiet room with sealed windows we had A/C. 24hr staff, gated entrance. 2 min walk to the Open Market & Macal River where you can get a canoe for $10usd a day. It’s a 20 min walk or $5usd cab to Cahal Pech. Get the cab there and walk back unless your fit for an uphill hike, you can’t get lost its uphill or downhill (daryfree ice-cream halfway @ hwy}. We took the bus $3BZ each to Xunantunich and got a cab back for 8BZ after a great meal uphill from the ferry at Benny’s Kitchen. Also booked tours to Tikal and Caracol with Maya Walk Tours, they included excellent meals. We didn’t have time or need but the hotel offers wristbands to another nearby resort pool for free. Continental breakfast was just ok and starts at 7 but restaurants food is so cheap and lots open at 6am. As written in many other reviews this hotel must invest in towel hangers for the bathroom. Its ridiculous to not have them for the small cost to install.
It is very convenient, near the center of town. It’s clean, good air conditioning and shower. Room was on the third floor no elevator.
Great location, clean, spacious would stay there again
Nice location - quiet around it. Close to the causeway and not far from many restaurants
Very nice front desk staff. Right on the strip of Burns Ave. next to a lot of restaurants, bars, and shops. AC worked well with a nice sized bed. They also have filtered water to refill water bottles and a small breakfast to get you ready for your day. Definitely a great stay!
Ideally located hotel
Very friendly helpful staff, room service daily, clean and tidy, soft bed. So so BF, hotel in good condition. Centrally located on city mall, bus station directly behind hotel, market and River close by. 20 minute walk up Hill to Cahal Pech ruins
The Venus is very clean and the staff are very friendly and professional, perfectly situated in San Ignacio for all activities. 5 outta 5 would stay again
Great location in downtown area, however during one night there was a religious evangelical celebration with amazingly loud music that blared from 6:00-10:20pm. It was so loud that we could not stay in our room and had to walk outside and away from the downtown area.
Great place to stay right in the middle of town. Great staff.
Clean hotel in great area. Excellent choice
i really enjoyed my stay here. very comfortable and functional. No refrigerator but very nice air con and fan. Front desk personnel were friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was mostly coffee, cereal and bread but served its purpose. One could not be in a better location than this hotel. Directly on Burns Av, this hotel is in the epicenter of the tourist area. you can easily arrange all your adventures and day trips within 25 meters of the hotel. One night there was a live band on the street and the hotel was a little loud but they band did not play late and it was enjoyable to watch the band from the terrace. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to my friends. Room had strong wifi.
Convenient, clean, comfortable, and great AC. Rooms configuration very safe. Front desk can always observe. Thanks to exceptional service from Christian!!!!
Great location if you are exploring!
Right next to restaurants and all of the tour providers. The street is closed off and only allows pedestrian traffic as you walk to everything on the block. Best location in the town center.
Central good value and friendly
The bathroom facilities are very new and the Airconditioning very effective. The staff were very helpful. My favourite was Christian on night shift
Good hotel for price.
It’s in a great location. Close to the bus stop and delicious reataraunts. Rooms are quite small, but they are clean and comfortable. Hotel staff were not very helpful, but they were nice and tried to answer our questions. The price was great for what it was. Breakfast included toast, buns, bananas, and coffee. It was small and simple, but did the trick.
Good location
Convenient location right in the middle of San Ignacio, semi guarded parking area, hotel staff was very kind and helpful. Was tricky to get the shower to be warm. Bed comfortable. Air conditioning worked well.
Nice Basic Hotel
The room was clean and comfortable, the staff was great. Breakfast is simple but good. The hotel is in a good location, close to everything you might need, and a short walk from Cahal Pech ruins. It was a challenge finding the hotel, being that Google Maps showed the highway in the wrong place, and Belize has very few signs. Ended up parking and walking around until we figured out how to get there. We were there in January, so air conditioning was unnecessary.
central
I read all the reviews I could to be prepared for my journey to this hotel. I'm totally a budget traveller and if it can be avoided, I prefer not to use a taxi / airport transfer that's not free. Based on my research, I took a taxi to the bus station then from there, took a bus marked Benque. Belizeans are really nice people. A very nice airport worker was happy to answer some questions. After asking, we found out Benque is the town after San Ignacio so we were good to take that bus. We were lucky to catch one that was not a school bus lol. It had very nice AC and the storage underneath. We were not so lucky heading back. The back of the hotel is where the park is where the bus stops. Our trip here was in the 1st wk of Feb. Weather was mainly gloomy. It rained about half the time we were there. We didn't feel the need for the pool at their other hotel. I got the AC rooms and didn't think that was totally necessary either not that I would have chanced that. The weather made it a little challenging to make plans. What we knew for sure we were absolutely doing was Tikal. We did that with the help of Belizean Adventure trails. If you're headed for Scotiabank, you'll see it before you get to the bank. They have a nice van to take you to the border and then they can arrange their Guatemalan contact to pick you up from there and take you back. It was the best price I found. The guy I talked to in Paz tours was a jerk. Cahal Pech and the Iguana project were cool activities too.
Nice hotel right in town
This hotel was a great find. It is located within walking distance to most everything in San Ignacio. It is a 1/4 mile from the Cahal Pech ruins and a 20 minute drive to Xunantunich. There are several restaurants right next door. Souvenir shops, street vendors and tour companies close. The street in front is blocked off so you can walk around safely. They have close, secure parking. The staff here were super nice and so helpful. They gave us tips of things to see and helped us navigate. They have a nice continental breakfast with cereal, fruit, toast and coffee.
Great location in San Ignacio
Great clean room. Everything we needed. Simple continental breakfast. Great price.
This hotel is corrupt and threatened me.
They tried to extort $100USD from me under the pretense of a scratched fridge. The fridge had signs of wear and tear. I’m a mature experienced adult traveler. No damage was made. They called 5 police in to intimidate me. The police looked around and confirmed there was no damage. The police then disappeared and spoke privately to the hotel manager and came back to tell me I had to pay regardless. This is corruption. I didn’t pay and had to leave the hotel early the following morning for my own safety and security after being threatened. This is a dangerous hotel. Do not stay here.
Great place to hang your hat.
Location is fantastic. Staff is friendly and helpful. Reno’s going on not a huge problem. Pool at sister property a nice change of pace.
Nice place to stay. Close to tour companies. Elsa was so friendly.
Great hotel downtown
The best part of the Venus is that it's downtown in the heart of the city. Nice views and balconies. The room was comfortable even though we had to put the beds together since the place was booked and we couldn't upgrade.the breakfast was good and the staff was absolutely amazing. Especially Cesar!! He helped us out finding a tattoo artist and we couldn't be happier!! If you want to see the best that San Ignacio has to offer then the Venus is the place to be. You will be immersed in the culture from day one!!
Venus
Under construction. WiFi only near lobby. No TV
It was HOT and miserable The staff was indifferent One employee only staff that even smiled and asked me how my trip was going, Normally the staff we watching TV with there friend? family? and it was hard to get a wash cloth since housekeeping took them and never replace it. Toilet paper on back of toilet no place to hang a towel
Central Location
Central location: From the front steps you're on the main street with touring companies, restaurants, stores and street food. On the other side is the new city square with very modern shops for coffee, juices, pizza, frozen yogurt, etc. It's an old hotel with small rooms, small baths, shower but no tub, etc. but they've added modern conveniences like wi-fi, cable TV, nice a/c unit, fluffy towels. Mattress was very firm, not to our liking. The front desk people are great. Note that the hotel is on the 2nd level which means climbing a long flight of stairs. The town is hilly so if you like to wander downtown this central location may be the best (a very nice hotel is up a very long/steep hill with lots of traffic so we were glad we didn't choose it). Restaurant Tips: 1) Authentic Flavors, just up the street on the 2nd floor (you'll see the white board of today's menu on the sidewalk); 2) Hannah's (further up the street, both on left side. ACTIVITIES: 1) Great/huge farmer's market a block away. 2) Go to the Green Iguana Conservation Project (located in San Ignacio Resort Hotel). Tours on the hour. 3) Touring companies offer many 1-day options - we went to Mayan Ruins (Caral, Lamanai, and Tikal were all great!) with Pacz Tours (see Bob just 1/2 block up the street, other side; excellent knowledgeable guides).

Was doable for us as we were only staying for two nights. No fridge in room but had a communal fridge behind front desk and microwave. Had smart tv in room but couldn’t find any apps that worked but just signed in to my Netflix account. The staff was awesome and accommodating. Set in the middle of town where the market, restaurants, and nightlife. I would recommend.
