Nice quiet neighborhood, 10 min bus ride from downtown, simple room with everything needed for a good night sleep. The fan helped to keep the air cool. Staff was helpful and very courteous. Thanks!
Overall it was good value and accommodations and facilities were clean. I was in a room in the basement where it was cooler but it had a number of spiders and the mini fridge was making a lot of noise. I took care of both issues on my own but noted them to the front desk on checkout (if I mentioned it to them ahead of time I am confident they would have dealt with promptly as front desk service was good).
Charged higher than price on Expedia. Wifi not working, given number to contact by front desk which went straight to voicemail every time. Received a callback after I checked out the next day
Affordable and close to downtown and waterfront. Common washrooms were not my favorite but were clean and close to all rooms.
Room was great!
Room and washrooms were great and very clean. Showers were not the greatest. Don’t think they were cleaned my entire 4 night stay.
Staff was very helpful. Facilities are rather outdated. No air conditioning (they lent us fans). Beds/mattresses were hard. Parking is 18$/day between 8 am and 4 pm.
Great spot. Thanks for the laundry!
The room was good except for no a/c and no fans. It was very hot outside 31°C and opening the window didn't help, no wind either. The heater was also going in the lobby of the building I stayed in for some reason. But besides this, the location is convenient for bus route down to the wharf. Front staff was nice.
For a residence the rooms are spacious and comfortable. However, that was about it. This was the most expensive residence we stayed in on our travels with the least to offer. It is clean, basic and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. If you had a vehicle it would be more convenient. We did not have our own bathroom and there was no dining service. I’d probably spend the extra $20 for a hotel in Halifax next time.
All good.
Locared in quite campus
-The room was spacious. - On the negative it was as clean as would be Expected. And construction in the early morning was alarming.
Clean and cozy place
Friendly staff, comfortable accommodation
Its not a hotel its a cheap student dormitory . No AC shared washroom& shower coudnt even open the window. Such a shame to ripoff people for 2 twin beds 170$ a night??? It should be a shelter for refugees not for tourists and visitors
Friendly service and helpful staff
As was expected for a night in a dorm.
Ok, but not for comfort
It was good to have a place like that to pass the night. It’s not for comfort. But for a short time, it’s ok.
Convenience price - quality
Beautiful building, not the best mattress, good stay for a short trip .
Worked well.
Previous reviews matched my experience. Easy to get in & settled. The space suited me well enough. Bonus that the bus stop was right outside!! Kind of hot, but the window opened with a screen so I was perfectly comfortable for the night. I was surprised to find a refrigerator in the room. But I may have missed that in the listing. I was also surprised to find 2 mouse traps tucked along the wall. I saw no evidence of mice at all -but the presence of the traps fed dreams of the sounds of non-existent mice.
Very convenient and good value.
The staff is super friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this dorms.
There was cat pee in the hallway, no where to hang towel in the shower.
the environment is good. the reception girl acutually is not good. cheated on parking lot fee not tell me it is free parking after 4 pm and charge 17 dollor for almost 1 hour parking! why dont tell customer the truth? halifax shame!
Great price, everything was good but it was very hot...we brought a fan, next time we will bring 2!
A really great job! Amazing staff and facilities. Had a great visit.
Lovely staffs!
Lovely stay!
Accommodations were fine. Pillows could be more appealing but overall, it was quiet and just what we needed for the two nights. Cannot beat this price. Will definitely stay again!!
Staying here would have been a lovely experience...except there was a guest in the room next to mine who screamed obscenities and banged on the walls from the time I arrived at 2pm until 1am that night, and began again the next morning at 8am. When I knocked on their door after midnight and they opened the door, they appeared to be using drugs and said they were having a bipolar episode. The college staff was very apologetic the next day and moved my room, but they let this guest stay, which I question. After communicating with the guest that night, I was afraid to reenter the hallway or even use the bathroom because they were clearly not in a stable place and were extremely angry.
It was good overall and a great price for people who don’t need a lot. It could be a tad cleaner. Some random hairs and dust were in my room.
This is a good operation, and the staff seems to be great all the way around. The issue seems to be how the building was remodeled with all its fire doors etc, there's no cross-ventilation and the building just retains heat. It could be 15C outside and your window wide open, and it'll still be low 20s in your room and mid 20s in the hallway. The mattress is pretty tough, too. A guy with a butt and and upped back and a smaller waist isn't gonna have his lower back touching the mattress all night, and will be feeling that in the morning (and for several mornings) Having said that, I'd choose this place again for a summer visit to Halifax given the value and enough time for my back and body to recover.
👍
all you need to rest.
Loved it and will stay again.
Everything you need for your stay is provided. Rooms are quite spacious for dorm rooms. Bathrooms close to the room. My only complaint was the bottom of shower curtain was dirty. $10 Uber ride to waterfront, would definitely stay again.
Shared washroom with showers on 1st floor had little to no hot water, no paper towels, and two shower units had no handles. Entry door to the room, so heavy it had to be propped open with a shoe which is what guests directly across also had to do. I had to clean room desk top because it had congealed something on it. Expedia listing mentioned dining hall which there was not.
Fine for a residence accommodation. Parking is fine but not available until after 4 pm.
The towels have poor quality. It is not made of corton and doesn't absorb water. And it faded and the microfiber is stick to all body
Good
an alright option for a nite or two. Neat and tidy, good surroundings. Transportation and parking.
Sharing a bathroom with men when the shower curtains did not provide privacy made no sense to me. Toilet and stall area were not always clean. Convenient for walking or biking, library had a water bottle refill station, security was good, and wifi was excellent.
Brutal quality (no AC, bed bad). Great staff!
I feel very sorry for students who sleep on those mattresses during the uni term. It was brutal for us. The rooms are very hot (no AC), sheets and towels are very thin/well used; dirty dirty dirty coed shared bathrooms (e.g., hair in drains, toilets soiled) - no change in the cleanliness in the 3 days we were there. No coffee or kettle to use. No TVs (not even a shared one). It was an expensive stay for so little in return. The saving grace were the the student hosts - very kind. No parking M to F - only street parking which is nearly impossible to find open space. No closeby eating places. Walked to the harbour each day - about 35 min walk.
Comfortable and quiet room. Convenient location.
I enjoyed the experience of staying in a dorm room and the convenience of being on campus because I didn't do that when I was in university. It was clean and nicely renovated. Staff was helpful when I locked myself out. My only concern was the accessibility of the bathroom and shower. It was a good use of space but close in for someone bigger.
The beds are hard. You have to like a hard bed. But otherwise, fantastic, with amazing staff.
I enjoyed staying at the University. The restroom down the hall was clean and secured. Laundry facilities available, though you do need to load money on a card you can get from the desk.
Mice in room, bathroom out of order
Pay for parking was $15 extra, staff was banging on the door next to ours at 12:40 am saying House Keeping over and over. and no one was in the room. They began moving furniture on the floor above before 9 am and then had fire alarm drillsthat began around 10:00 am. and they continued for close to 2 hours Coming from a western province the effective time zone was 6am. Beatiful exterior very tired interior. Staff friendly
Though the city is highly walkable, there is no information available about mass transit costs, how often common bathrooms are cleaned, and the surrounding area is unlevel causing tripping hazards. I didn't feel safe walking alone at night. I was uninformed about uber, or taxis serves. I was an unfamiliar stranger with little or no information about the local community, or area.
Great location. Room was as expected. Bathrooms not the cleanest and run down. Otherwise the facility was great and the staff at front desk were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Location is perfect.
Hidden gem
I had an overnight stay for a society dinner being hosted at King's. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and I very much appreciated the free overnight parking. I could have stayed at a more expensive hotel in downtown Halifax but this very much suited my needs and was a bargain at the price and an excellent choice for budget conscious visitors to Halifax.
Beautiful area, close to water and downtown Friendly staff Doors close brutally loud There was nowhere to drop off the keys at checkout as we left early, therefore we left the keys in the room, but couldn't lock the room, this leaves the guest's reservation vulnerable to other guests that can go in the room, for example, theft or vandalism
Recommend a summer residence stay to everyone. Not that inexpensive but cheaper than many going hotel rates at the moment.
My son and I were in town for a tournament and this was a quick and easy place to stay. It turned out even better than expected. The rooms were larger than anticipated and it was way more affordable than the available hotels. We had to stay for 3 nights and so, probably saved at least $500. It also allowed us to be in a central location to visit some of our favorite Halifax spots. We will definitely stay here again.
Very convenient. Close to downtown.
Great experience. Thank you
No AC
Noisy
We were only in town for the 1 evening. This 2 bedroom dorm room was perfect. It was easy to get to, within a couple km from the main strip in the Halifax Peninsula, the harbour, parks etc. Easy to access, checking in and check out were super simple. Zero complaints.
We checked into the property around 8pm and it was around 25-26 degrees in the room. We asked the staff for fans since there was a heat alert in the city. They had no fans available and told us to leave the windows on. There were also issues with the main door lock. The lock had to be placed in a certain position for it to lock. When informed about this, they simply brushed it off and showed us a way to get it done which means it was a known problem which have not been addressed. We also had a guest who did not come with us and one of the other guests did not feel comfortable sleeping alone. We asked the staff if we could cancel one of the rooms and they did not accommodate that request. Usually I wouldn't care since it was a last minute request, but considering the other issues, this should have been taken care of by the staff. Overall, pretty disappointed in the stay even tho we were initially very excited to stay here.
It was exactly as you’d expect from a dorm room. Clean amenities including the shared bathrooms. Staff was kind and very helpful. Only wish is that there would be a fan in each room as they are very hot in the summer with no AC!
Nice place to stay
The rooms were much larger than expected! Comfortable and roomy. Not too far from things to do in the Halifax area.
Staff are super nice and gave great advice about the area. Only downside was a the bed mattress was super old and not very comfortable - i could feel all the springs!
It was a very affordable place for temporary stay. Quiet and nice.
Great but lower parking fee by 50%
Everything was great but parking was pricey for the spot
Unique
Attendant was personable.
great
I like the area we would of liked clean towels but overall quiet and nice, they accommodated her extra stay😁
The room is big. The staff are friendly. There is a bus stop near by the entrance. Parking is in front of the building. The price is good. The only bad thing is the shower. The water stream is thin. It is difficult to bath.
beautiful grounds and neighborhood. Clean spacious room. Clean bathroom. Bed less than ideal, but what do you want for 70 a night? Very loud HVAC system outside in the courtyard. It didn't bother me but it will definitely bother some.
Halifax
Very clean, great location but can be Abit noisey
The building space is big and comfortable with air conditioner. Well-maintained facilities. No elevators. I left suitcase in car and take backpack. It is fine to me.
Very basic rooms, no air conditioner, excellent value for the money. Shared bathroom with others on the floor
A lot more roomy than I thought it would be! Great staff and pleasant campus to walk around!
Bathroom showers are really bad.
my room was three floors up - no elevator- that was my fault for not asking - I use a walking stick and have a fair bit of mobility but tire quickly. Staff did not offer to help me with my baggage - and when I left an item in my roomthe next day they were unable to work out how to retrieve it for me - I finally asked a student who ran back up the stairs for me. It was like they had no imagination to meet a need....
I need hairdryer.
Its in a nice little cull de sac
Great option to stay in historical campus building for very reasonable rate.
The place is nice
Hard to find
Very hard to find with no signage to check-in
Mice!!!!
Woke up to a mouse in my bed and saw 2 scurry in the room earlier in the evening. Gross bathrooms- used tampon in one of the bathtubs!!! Would not recommend to anyone
Before even entering my own room i accidentaly opened tge wrong door with my key... and it opened. Didnt feel too safe leaving my stuff there after that and the bathrooms were the second lowest point. At least tgere was free breakfast i never went to cause it goes from 7-9am instead of to sometime more reasonable like 10 or 11. Worst stay of my cross canada trip.
King’s College dorm is a dorm. Single beds were very comfortable and dorm bathrooms were clean. Breakfast in the morning was very good. Price is excellent for staying so close to downtown. We walked there easily every day. We are walkers. We loved it.
Basic dorm. Great value for money. Cheap rate, included breakfast, comfortable bed. Nothing fancy.
It was a safe, friendly space. Staff very helpful and kind. Just the shower area's needed to be more taken care of.
We arrived at King's during a period of heat warnings to find that there was very little air movement in the room. Even after opening the window wide, and buying window fans from Canadian Tire, the heat at night left us "swimming". The shared bathroom was outside the sleeping room which itself had no sink. This is felt like poor amenities for the cost of the room (50% more than similar College residence in Riviere-du-Loup, QC, or in Kingston, ON). The room sleeping room door was extremely heavy and required the chip card to open for entry. I pity the students who have these rooms as their homes over the winter and summer terms.
This was a typical college dorm from the 70s. No air conditioning, bathrooms down the hall, worn and old showers. Unfortunately this was not quite disclosed. We opted out of the second night. You get what you pay for. Student staff were amazing and helpful. No parking during the day except on side streets.
hot in the room. found later we could have asked for a fan. location and price were great. right on bus line for #1 from downtown.
Campus is beautiful! Breakfast was great, nice to have that included in price. Showers need to be cleaned more regularly! Make sure you bring shower shoes! Not a lot of restaurants or shops close by but bus was convenient to take downtown.
Every thing was great except the fact that there was mold in the sides of the washroom doors. Front desk was really helpful. People were nice in general.
Shared bathroom was confusing with the temporary women sign on our floor.
Great location and price.
Please know that this is not a typical hotel, it is a college dorm room. Bathrooms are public down the hall. But cant beat the location and price. Convenient on the #1 bus line that will bring you downtown for 2.50$. Happy overall and will stay again if needed. Free breakfast was a nice perk too!
Simple but good
This is not the first time my wife and I have stayed in a university residence but it was the best. It is not for long term stays but for a single night it worked well.
Reasonable for the price
Everything was fine but the room was hot, dusty, and musty. We were also logged out of the wifi half way through.
Roooms were neat, staff was very helpful. There were no AC or fans, so it was quite warm when I stayed.
I understand this is a university dorm but really was under the impression we’d have at least a toilet and sink in our room. Decent pillows would have been appreciated as would have a fan.

A little hard to find and have to pay for parking during the week but convenient to Downtown and within walking distance to most attractions.
