OLD PROPERTY

Property is extremely dated.

Staff did not realize that the boiler for hot water requires to be turned on after an electrical failure. No hot water for Saturday morning!

Good location, good value. Close to ocean front. Great walks near by. 10 min walk to down town.

Weve stayed here before and are in a recently refreshed room which is bright, clean & comfortable. The location & price are great - staff are friendly & helpful. We booked 3 rooms for an event & all checked in at different times. Was smooth for everyone.

I liked the price, the continental breakfast, the very comfy King size bed and the friendly staff. The waterfront and downtown shopping is a ten - fifteen minute walk away. The only negative was the Shaw TV remote was slow and needed to be replaced. The buttons had to be pushed hard in order to get a response. I’m not sure if that was the cause of the slow response.

Was in on a business trip and the room was dry, clean, felt like the room had been renovated recently, which is nice to see.

You could hear the next door neighbour coughing and listening to tv through the night. Also dresser drawers were broken, as was the light over the bed. Nothing to recommend the surrounding area.

Very warm a d friendly staff

The hotel is very basic. Good if you don't want to spend too much and want a place to stay. Simple breakfast as spected. I didn't like it was not clean at all. The worst was finding hair in the bath tub, all kind. And the reception when arrived was not so friendly. The lady was only doing her job. Location is good and parking place is convenient.

It was great a lot of renovations but didn’t affect the quality of the stay.Comfortable and nice sized room. We have stayed several times and will continue. Great service and value.

Everything was okay. The price was affordable yet included complete essentials like shampoo, conditioner, towels, and soap, and it even came with breakfast! What I liked most about our experience was the front desk receptionist. She was a trainee, yet she was very confident and kind. The elevator only goes up to the third floor. We were supposed to stay on the second floor, but because we had a lot of luggage, the receptionist was kind enough to move us to the third floor so we could use the elevator. 5/5—will definitely come back!

Quite Noisy, i could hear the steps from the ceiling. Alot of wirings and/or power sockets were visible. Parking areas/plans/cleanliness were not maintained. Breakfast options were very few or Less options. Staff are accommodating and helpful

Plenty of parking for pickup truck and trailer, clean quiet rooms, comfortable beds. This is my go to hotel in Nanaimo.

Funny story….I went down for breakfast and I was approached by not 1 but 3 workers thinking I looked like the guy who comes in to steal breakfast 😂 They asked my room number and name then soon found I wasn’t the guy! We all had good chuckle. Thank you for keeping us all safe.

Check in seemed very rushed like we were interrupting him, booked a queen bed but got a double. VERY small room. Very firm bed but soft pillows. Discovered in the morning stained sheets, started vacuuming early in the hallway. Sketchy area and old building especially elevator. I’ve stayed before when it was a different hotel was better then.

The Motel was close to the Nanaimo Hospital - My husband had cataract surgery - discharged at 12:30 PM - We were able to check in early = the lady at the desk was sympathetic.. quiet place to stay.. Going back for 2nd surgery in a few weeks.

The hotel is located near a highway so traffic noise may wake you up if you are a light sleeper.

Awful stay - strong sewage smell. Carpet and curtains filthy.

Dirty. Smells of sewage in the building and room. Stains on the curtains. Liquid squirt on the picture above the bed. Hair in the coffee machine. No kettle. No bottled water. Carpet old and dirty. I would not recommend this place.

Overall good enough for one night stay

The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the continental breakfast was superb. When I need a room in Nanaimo this will be my first choice.

Although the property is dated and a spray was used to mask smells likely in the carpet, it was extremely clean, staff was friendly and it was great value when you consider that it included coffee and muffins in the morning. Thank you for a nice stay!

We had a very good stay. The room was very clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and accommodating and the continental breakfast was wonderful. Big thank you to the housekeeping staff for freshening up our room each day. We definitely plan on another stay next year.

Old and dated facility. Staff are super nice though! Breakfast is pretty basic: muffins, fruit, coffee, tea and juice. Rooms have what you need, and the bed was comfortable. :)

Curtains were dirty, it’s right on a busy street, toilet didn’t flush.

We are new arrivals in Nanaimo and this place welcomed us with a 300$ damage deposit for a one night booking. So if you enjoy worrying all night if you will be hassled the next day as to whether you will get your cash back, then this is the place for you. In our case, we felt quite special because they did not offer to take damage deposits from anybody else - just us. Upon entering our room, we noticed a torn rag left for us on the small desk with the coffee pot. We hate all hotel coffee makers so this concerned us minimally. The big dead moth on the carpet concerned us a bit more so we threw that in the toilet. We noticed the dog dish outside the main entrance door, which reminded us that the smell of dogs permeated throughout the lobby. This odour helped overwhelm the smell of cigarettes, which was evident no matter where you were standing at any particular moment. If you don’t mind the multiple amount of guests hanging around the front doors smoking heavily in your path, then this is the place for you.

Close to the ferry and the walkway on the lake. Nice clean room. Although we left before breakfast time, they opened the dining room for us to get something to eat. Thank you

We liked the location, staff, cleanliness. Breakfast was healthy and had the best muffins I’ve ever eaten. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Everything was fine except two: 1. They have no washroom in the Common area and the staff at reception was rude when requested for an emergency use for an older relative, while collecting the bags (kept after checkout) 2. No toast for breakfast (only sweet muffins!) making it difficult for those who have diabetes.

Small but cozy room

Our room was small but cozy. It was located in a strange spot with the door inside the stair well. The view out the back side was nice with a backyard feel with trees and grassy area. The noise from the shower of the room near by was loud and woke us up.

Toilet bowl is very low

A bit tired and dated and hall carpet had seen better days. Also breakfast, although welcome, was a bit limited with just coffee and muffins. No bread/ toast would have been good.

Friendly staff. Clean rooms

They did a lot of small things well that most hotels ignore--several power strips, so plugging in multiple things wasn't a problem, a bigger than typical refrigerator, plenty of pillows, a comfortable reading chair with a good light, and compostable utensils with breakfast.

Bargain hotel so don't expect too much. Clean, but starting to show its age

I was quite impressed with this hotel. Fridge and microwave in the room, comfy bed, free parking, good WiFi. Location is right on the harbour, easy walk to Maffeo park for the boat to Newcastle Island, heater/air con in the room. The breakfast isn't quite 'continental', just muffins, fruit and yoghurt. No toast or pastries etc, but it'll do the trick if you're not fussed. I was perfectly fine with it. Would recommend

Heat wasn't working in my room

Location of the hotel is great. Easy access to the ocean front promenade, park and playground. Breakfast had only limited choices, more like a snack than breakfast.
