Very nice hotel
Great location, very nice hotel
This hotel is an excellent option when you visit Takayama. It is conveniently located to all transport network and amenities. The view from the hot footbath on level 9 is a nice bonus. The hotel looks and feels new and the lobby has a welcoming feeling. The entire staff team is very professional, friendly and courteous. The room is spacious and is efficiently laid out. It is clean, well equipped and filled with natural light. We have enjoyed our stay and will surely return when and if we return to Takayama in the future.
We stayed in a room for 4. Glad it was spacious. The hotel is just beside the train station and bus terminal and it was walking distance to good number of dining options and also to a few popular attractions like the old street and the morning markets. I did not like that the Aircon/heater was noisy though the hotel looks and feels new. I also did not like the breakfast which I felt was a little expensive at ¥2300. It is mainly Japanese fare with a few western options. Variety on a whole was limited.
Best location for going around the town.
Beautiful and clean hotel
Lovely place to stay when visiting Takayama - absolutely no complaints. Recommended.
An excellent hotel next to the JR station. New, clean, good customer service. Highly recommended.
Excellent location, just next to the train station.
Stayed two nights, probably the best hotel. So convenient to dining options. Walking distance to old town and morning market. Book the deluxe room. Room was huge with 3 beds and a sofa where u can put a futon if have 4 Guest. Also have space for a table and chairs, I could eat breakfast with my family. But the best was the huge powder room, two person can do makeup side by side at same time. Then the washing machine to do laundry and the microwave oven all in your room. The onsen was super nice too. Love the open air onsen, big and beautiful. Parking for rental car was covered and spacious, glad we didn’t park at open carpark as it was snowing overnight and the next day. I will definitely stay again!
Convenient from Jr station and with food options nearby
Can’t get more convenient with this location. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Hotel is stylish while showcasing traditions. Very neat place. Definitely recommend!
Loved the foot bath and the rooftop private bath. The breakfasts were excellent. The Old Town area was very walkable. The hotel was right next to the train station. It seemed about half the hotel guests were non-Japanese, which made sense. The staff was very helpful and spoke a variety of languages.
My favourite place to stay during 3 week holiday to Japan. Stunning hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff. Will definitely recommend to others in Australia.
Located near the train station and tourist attractions. Very convenient
I didn’t expect this much!!! This is the amazing hotel:)
The facilities were immaculate and the staff were great! The open air private baths were a highlight.
Very good location and good service
Lovely hotel, good location, kind and friendly staff
The hotel looks new and clean. It is just next to the jr station, so very convenient. Didn't try the onsen as it was always busy. It's walkable to everywhere as Takayama town is small. It is next to Ajikura, a famous hida beef place. Family mart is about 3mins walk and a pharmacy is right opposite the hotel. Room is very clean and size is ok. Can open up your big luggage with walking space.
Enjoyed staying here and attending the Takayama Fall Festival. A nice surprise was that there was a washer/dryer combo in the room which helped a lot as we arrived there mid-trip and could do our laundry ~ a BIG PLUS! It was also my 1st experience using an Onsen.
Friendly staff and excellent location ( next to JR station) . I would stay in this hotel chain again
We had the room that was considered traditional and western. It had the area for the table and chairs, which then became the sleep area for 2 people with the traditional mats and in the other part of the room were 2 twin beds. Staff was very helpful and helped us arrange the shipping of our luggage. This is next to the train and bus stations so easy to catch transportation. About a 10 minute walk to the older shopping district. Convenient to have a microwave in the room to cook food. A large grocery store was about a 15 minute walk. Being next to the bus and train station did not give great views, but we were booking for the space for 4 adults and the convenience of getting around. This room had a washer/dryer combo, which was a plus because it allowed us to not have to pack as many clothes for the trip.
Well located property, close to most tourist sites. On site parking quite expensive at ¥1500 a day. Long stay guests (e.g. 5 nights) have to pay extra if they want the room cleaned or sheets changed during their stay. Otherwise, the property is beautiful architecturally, and well located for sightseeing. Hotel is right next door to the train station.
Convenient location near the stations and restaurants/shops. The reason I chose this hotel was due to it having private onsens available. As someone with tattoos, I appreciated being able to partake! We tried two of the three private options and they were both fantastic. So relaxing after lots of walking and traveling. The hotel was nice, staff was very helpful and kind. I would stay here again!
BEST LOCATION AND GREAT VALUE GOOD BREAKFAST, CLEAN AND SAFE ALL THE STAFFS ARE EXCELLENT
Great place
Lovely modern Onsen hotel with parking and facilities. There is a choice of private Onsen rooms which can be booked. A plus was the room had a washing machine and liquid. Good location next to the station and near restaurants. Staff were really friendly and helpful
Excellent
Great location next to railway station and walkable to centre of city within 10 minutes. Good, large sized rooms (for Japan), excellent buffet breakfast and beautiful Onsen available for relaxing. Staff very friendly and welcoming.
Few minutes to JR station.
The onsen is really nice. Is a stone throw away fr the JR station. Very convenient for those who are travelling with big luggages. Room is spacious too.
So amazing!! Clean and a 1 minute walk away from Takayama station. The best stay
Hotel is just next to the station and very convenient for shops, restaurants and sightseeing. Staff are very friendly especially Ms 有川😊 she was very polite and helpful with always smile. She helped everything we need. Excellent customer service and will definitely recommend to everyone!
Right next to the train station. Staff was awesome!
Room had a slight foul smell
Great little hotel in an excellent location. Had the most amenities of any of our hotel stays in Japan including shoe dryer, foot massager and hair straighteners! The rooms are small but have everything you need and are clean and modern. Staff spoke English and were friendly and helpful. Great value. I would stay here again.
Breakfast is great, location very convenient, hand craft exhibitions on each floor were interesting. 4 star rating was due to our room being next to main road and we could hear the pedestrian crossing sounds even w windows closet. Also onsen was ordinary.
Wonderful stay at tokyu stay hida-takayama. It is literally next to the train and bus terminal. Hotel is so nicely decorated and the rooms were tastefully designed and clean. Plus point on having an onsen and foot bath as well!
Very beautiful hotel with great proximity to the train station and places of interest
Comfortable room with in room washing machine. Nice spa.
Great location!!! Clean and great staff!
Close to bus station.
Nice option to visit Takayama
The hotel location is great - located near the main train station is a great spot where to start exploring the village! The room was nice and having the washer-dryer was a great plus. The staff was kind especially when they accidentally placed our belongings in another room leaving us with a bit of a moment but hopefully it was sorted out pretty quickly!
Visited for our honeymoon and highly recommend! Clean, so close to the train station and great breakfast! The onsen is a great thing at the end of a long day.
The hotel is very new, and the location is super nice, literally next to the bus and train station. It's also a nice, pleasant walk to the morning market and the main shopping area. We also enjoyed the foot onsen, as well as the bookable private onsen very much.
When we check in , that man super unfriendly and impatient,
Good service and close to train station and bus center
Happy customer
Beautiful hotel. Great location as right next to train station, restaurants and cafes. Parking onsite available. Walking distance to attractions. Comfortable clean room.
Nice hotel and facilities, close to station and old town. Nice walking routes.
Great hotel. Confortable bed and very clean rooms. Breakfast buffet suggestion: having more food options for non-asian guest. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.
Almost everything was good just transportation needs to improve a little bit more, not Uber in this area, they not rent cars for international people only local people.
New hotel
Nice and good location. Parking was easy too. New and with a modern vibe.
Great location
The hotel is in a great location to walk to all the local attractions. Right next to the station too which saves a lot of effort and lagging suitcases around. It’s new and the lobby is very nice. The spa is also very relaxing and clean. The room was a very good size for two people, the bedding was good and soft but the pillow was small and extremely hard. The internet was bad. Kept cutting off, slow and at times inexistent I could not watch anything on my laptop or do any work. I lost my room key and they charged me 2000 yen. A bit too extreme and the first time it happened to me. Apart from that I would recommend it as comfortable, in a great location and in good condition
ホテルは綺麗でstaffの方も親切でした。 ただアメニティにコーヒーが無かったのが残念でした。1階のカフェもいつも閉まっている様で残念でした。総括的には良かったです。
Great room, great onsen and great breakfast ❤️
Love the onsen, very spacious room
Staffs were very helpful and friendly.
Great spot for a quick visit
Great location to explore the city. It’s located next to train and bus stations so easy in and out of the city without having to carry luggage. Hotel is lovely, very modern. Rooms are spacious, ours even had a washing machine free to use (which was very much used). The hotel has a big onsen facility for guests free of charge (which we also took advantage of). The main old town area is just 10 minutes walk and all through all the main avenues with shops and restaurants
Matress too firm for me
Good location
Good location, not lots of parking but parking available nearby
Great location (right beside the bus station), friendly staff, rooms were a good size and the washing machine in the room was very convenient. Walking distance to markets.
Hotel is literally just next to the station. Super convenient. Property is ver nice, room comfy and very clean Onzen is beautifylully designed. Staffs ate also very friendly
Great hotel for a quick one night stop over.
It was very nice hotel.
The hotel is next to the station and bus station.
Very close to station, but no noice from the station. Excellent facilities
I can’t recommend this beautiful property in Takayama enough. After spending two nights in tiny Tokyo rooms, we were so happy to see how big our rooms were! Our room had huge windows that you can slightly open for fresh air. Also, the washer/dryer in the room was such an awesome perk! The property is spotless clean, the staff always have a smile for you, onsen spa was tranquil, location next to the station was so convenient (yet not noisy thanks to the well built windows) and the breakfast/dinner buffet was delicious with tons of healthy options. Definitely will come stay here again when I visit the beautiful town of Takayama again!
Very good for family
Good service, nice room, good location. Just one point, not enough car park
The room was really small. Staff and service wasn’t great—often there was no one at the desk or no one who could provide help in English.
Easily hear people outside and below you but otherwise a pleasant stay
Fantastic location for station and exploring TakaYama. Rooms a good size and beds very comfortable decoration and build quality excellent, view from 9th floor is great, but needs a bar.
Thank you
The location is great as it’s near the train station, only a short distance away. It’s walking distances to most attractions. I have lost my iPad at Nagoya airport. I asked for help, The reception girl who checked us in was very helpful, though she is only trainee, she went all the way to call the airport police and the airline to check on the missing iPad. Even though she was not successful to gather more info, but her initiative is commendable. We were staying at room 825. We would like to say thanks to the girl with the sweet smile.
Modern and clean hotel, no free parking though
Appreciated the strong wifi as I had to do some work calls - shouting out in case anyone is wondering about this. Hotel was very modern and clean. Beds were comfortable and the rooms quiet. Location is about a 15 min walk to the old town, but literally right next to the JR station. The only thing that got me was that there was no free parking for guests - there was a big enough carpark but I’m not sure who exactly those were for. We had to park about a 7 minute walk away.
Staff was very courteous. Rail station was right there. Public and private onsen.
The hotel is centrally located to everything. The staff were very helpful. The room was a bit small but enough for our needs. The nightgown was very comfortable, and the provided tea was amazing.
Thank you

Onsen on property, clean property, friendly staff, free parking, short drive to Shiragawago. This hotel checked all the boxes. Love our stay.

Great Place for Takayama
Booked this high rating hotel just next to Takayama Station and I love the onsen, a great way to unwind at the end of the day. Hotel is also a short walk going to Old Town and nearby restaurant, temple, family mart, etc. The spread of morning breakfast is super good too!
Great Value
Compact yet cosy! Loved the layout of the room - and that we had a washing machin/dryer too. The front desk staff had one lady who was so helpful with where to go and visit during out brief stay. Great value and very clean - and all you need!
Great location, pleasant room. Allow extra time for check in or to collect bags as check in/ reception very slow.
Good
the staffs are all friendly, clearly explained a small problem of fully parked at hotel parking, and gave me free coupons for outside parking around. Overall impression of the hotel group is good, I always stay with them in Japan.
We loved this Hotel in Takayama. The staff were very helpful, friendly and pleasant. The hotel is clean, food is great and the Osen beautiful.
Nice Hotel
This hotel is very near to Takayama train and bus station, very convenient. The hotel staffs are very helpful and able to speak English. This hotel is very busy and popular to bigger group. Room size is reasonable for our 3 big luggages. This hotel is very supportive towards local handicraft and local products; which is very good you can buy them at the hotel souvenir section, prices are the same as you getting them from shop. So you can do last minute shopping and don’t have to carry them back from the shop.Hotel breakfast is normal, no changes everyday. They practice limited room cleaning, they only change towels and rope if you wish to by putting a card on your door by 11am. There was no change of bedsheet, made bed or was toilet throughout your stay! We were surprised upon checked in; as we were booked for 4 nights. And there is a compulsory Onsan charges per person per night regardless if you go or not(I’m not an Onsan person). The hotel charges upon check in.
Lots of foreigners and local travellers. Can be crowded. Some foreigners may not understand public bathing etiquette - for example, rinsing the shower stall clean and clear of soap suds for the next person and standing in the shower stall - there is a reason why each comes with a stool for you to sit. Of course you can kneel if you wish which a lot of old sentou will not have a stool readily there. A lot of English speaking foreigners speaking very loudly inside the elevator. I understand the excitement of finding out a washer-dryer inside your hotel room but it’s nothing to be overly excited and if you are, express that when it’s not inside the elevator. The hotel should put signage up or print these rules for foreigners. I love this country and wishes well for all visitors but I would like to at the same time preserve the “specialness” of this place for all to enjoy in the future…… Otherwise it was a good stay.
.
The property feels very new, with lots of nice design touches. Staff were eager to help, allowing that English was uneven. Hotel is < 5 minutes walking distance to the train and bus stations, which is very convenient. Good beds. Onsen is very nice, with both public and private options. An outlook lounge on the top floor provides a panoramic view of the city. Good breakfast with a nice mix of western and Asian options.
Location location location
Such a convenient location right next to the station. Everything was lovely, fresh and clean. The onset was superb. Staff are very friendly.
Best pillows all trip.
Amazing hotel to stay at. Beds and pillows very comfortable. The onsen was delightful and the proximity to the train station made it easy to get to. But also was still very close to other spots. Food at restaurant waa also delicious. Each floor also focuses on a local craft or artesian skill thay then is also featured in the rooms. Love it.
We had the great experience in the hotel that I ever had. The room size is comfortable. The onsen facilites is very comfortable, the flow is smooth and the security offered. I will recommend to others and will book the hotel if I travel there.
highly recommend
Perfect stay at Tokyu Stay! Just next to the bus/train station, walking distance from the main attractions. Magnificent hotel and rooms, excellent accommodations and service, very nice onsen. We would have stayed longer. I highly recommend this hotel.
Tokyu Stay Takayama is a top notch hotel, it is a step away from train station close to convenience stores and restaurants. Hotel staff are amazing is the hotel itself. I couldn't recommend high enough, do yourself a favour pug this place on top of your list if visiting the beautiful town of Takayama.
This hotel was a 2 minute walk from the train station so it was very convenient. Even though it’s next to the train station, no noise can be heard from the trains. The staff was efficient, courteous and professional. The washer/dryer in the room was great but you should ask the staff on directions on how to use it. The instructions on the card was not clear. They have an onsen and foot bath area and they were great especially when coming back from a full day of walking. We arrived 2 hours early so wish they would have let us check in early and use the room. But it’s a minor inconvenience. Definitely would recommend!
Easy to Walk to most Takayama sites and very close to Train and Bus stations.
Better Training Needed for Male Staff
Everything about this hotel would have been good, but a couple of male receptionists gave me a bad impression of it. I arrived at night and asked if I could borrow a computer mouse for one minute (my words were 「一分だけ」"only one minute") to use at the reception counter. I needed a mouse to unlock my frozen smart-phone screen. At that time of night, they were only using one computer to check people in, and four or five mouses were not being used. A computer mouse does not pose any kind of security or privacy risk (it's like asking to borrow a pen), but the receptionist wouldn't listen to me and kept cutting me off in an abrupt and rude manner, saying 「できません」"can't." I wanted him to at least try to problem-solve with me, but he seemed determined to try to get me out of there rather than give me the least bit of help. The next day, I asked to talk to a manager, and she was extremely kind and attentive and let me borrow her personal mouse. Another not-so-friendly encounter happened when I went to retrieve my luggage after having checked out several hours before. When I went up to the desk, the male receptionist, without asking what I needed, told me (rudely) to go to the check-in area (he just assumed that I needed to check in without considering that I might need something else). A third encounter involved another foreign guest. She was looking for a place to eat at night, but the male receptionist seemed either unwilling or unable to help her, so I had to help instead.
Breakfast buffet and dinner was excellent. English speaking staff which made it a lot easier for us.
TOKYU STAY Hida-Takayama Musubi no Yu | Hotel in Takayama | Travala.com
Right next to Takayama station. So convenient
