Loved the roominess of the King Suite!
This is our second stay with our family at The Thompson, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay again! Highly recommend!
The room and facilities were satisfactory. However, the restaurant service was disappointing. The staff appeared unfriendly, with no smiles or warmth, and the prices were noticeably high.
We were not able to get into our room for more than 5 hrs after check in time due to rooms not being clean. We were initially told that it would be an hour wait at most. We were not even able to get into our original room (a suite) and we eventually were given two rooms for the first night. We then had to move rooms to the suite on the second day. It was super inconvenient and we missed out on some sight seeing/dinner because of it. The people working there were nice but didn't make the situation right and it soured the experience for me. We also tried to go to the burger place there after missing out on dinner, but the line was so long that we didn't stay. Rooms and property were otherwise nice and location was good.
Great one
Wonderful experience and would stay again.
I love staying at this hotel. My favorite part is the staff. Talking with the guys out front is fun and the staff at check in has been courteous and KIND.
Waited over 4 hours past checkin for my room to be ready. Asked 2 times for another towel and waited for over an hour before going to front desk to get one. They said that all I can do is wait for housekeeping to come to my room. It’s been an hour and twenty minutes, still no towel. Front desk staff not helpful
Loved our stay at this property over Xmas Eve and Xmas Day, would come back and stay again for sure
Overall nice place but not worthy of the hefty nightly rate. Also, the hotel charges you $8 for a cup of coffee downstairs.
It was only one night, but from the time we pulled up to the time we left, it was an amazing stay. I will be back for sure!
Great location! Easy to walk to fun holiday spots… Central Park, 5th Ave, Rockefeller Center. Just make sure to bring a warm coat!
Service was above and beyond. Room was very clean and everything worked fine including the HVAC which can often be a problem in hotel rooms.
Christmas in the Big Apple
Nice big room in a great location near Central Park. Clean and comfortable. High end, but not pretentious. Great stay for a family with teens.
Everything was good. But it seems they never fixed the plumbing from when it was the Parker Meridian. Too bad
Staff was hit and miss. Restaurant staff could be heard complaining a lot. Also hassled patrons. Not acceptable.
Wonderful stay
Had a great experience with my family of 4. We loved the location. Very walkable area to many of the areas we wanted to go. Plenty of restaurants near the hotel. Was pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel and the vibe of the hotel overall. Enjoyed my visit and will stay again.
2ns stay very nice large room!
Uncomfortable
The room was very small and the beds were not only tiny but the most uncomfortable beds ever! We ended up leaving a day early. Paid $2,300 for two nights and only stayed one! We couldn’t do it one more night there. Won’t ever stay again.
The body essentials are very poor quality and gave me a rash. The pumps didn’t work right. The smell is horrible, way too (manly smelling) cheap. Seems like the hotel is trying to save money. Sad because they charge so much. The logo looks too China looking. We booked several rooms and both of our family n friends had to wait hours after check in to get rooms. Extremely inconvenient. The heat didn’t work properly and no extra blankets were provided Bums were in the chairs at the entrance for days sleeping and taking up much needed seating. No staff seemed to care. All the bell hop service staff was excellent. They do an amazing job and very friendly.
"beautiful hotel in a perfect location"
Had a great stay at the Thompson over Thanksgiving break with the family (myself, wife and 2 daughters 10&12). Having the breakfast included was amazing. Staff was great, food was great, rooms were clean and modern. Location was really good, walking distance to Central Park, Times Square, Broadway, 5th Ave and so much more!
Love this place!
Our favorite hotel for Thanksgiving week! We love the location and size of the room! we never have to wait for the elevator and we also feel safe!!
Location is perfect for all things NYC
I returned to the property with high expectations. However, this time around was not as expected. Our room wasn’t ready due to a linens issue. And then, there was an elevator issue causing delays for tons of guests. We were on a high floor making it inconvenient to use the stairs. I would think they’d reprogram the elevators to accommodate the faulty elevator.
We had an excellent experience at the Thompson hotel. We will definitely stay here again when we return to NY.
Hotel was nice
Ample room with a nespresso coffee maker and water. The umbrella provided was very convenient. Great location in the heart of the City. Central Park is a couple of blocks away. You can ride a cab or the subway. Great restaurants around.

Rooms are well appointed and very quiet
Excellent stay! All of our needs were taken care of and staff went above and beyond. Chris at the front desk was a dream! Thank you.
Great location, terrific food!
Spent a week at the Thompson and absolutely loved it! Very nice hotel with all the amenities you could need. Close to major transit stops and tons of shops, great location. Would definitely recommend staying here!
I loved the food options. I liked the privacy and the location in the city.
Good service
The room was clean but the service was even better.
Overall excellent stay. Great location just south of Central Park. Studio King is spacious. Pull out couch in room. Needed to call 3 times to have housekeeper make up the couch for sleeping. Short of that, wonderful weekend. I’m
Great location
Room (suite) was clean n comfortable. Restaurant area could b upgraded. No lounge/bar to hang n have a drink n evening
Great location and hotel
A regular here. It’s great
Staff and housekeepers were outstanding! Great service, fast and friendly. I would LOVE to go back to same place!
Nice hotel and easy access to Central Park and surrounding areas. Room is clean and staff is friendly!
Room was great. The amenities were fantastic. Hotel staff was superb. Will definitely return.
The location was terrific and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Very nice hotel. Would stay here again
EXTREMELY over priced tourist trap. Our room was not ready at check in time and we were made to wait an hour for a room. The room was the size of a shoe box, had a weird smell, and the carpet was stained and dirty. Stay Away!!!!
Great property. Perfect for family trip!
The Thompson properties never disappoints and the location was perfect for our vacation!
The staff were very friendly and provided great customer service. The property is very close to all the amenities (Reading Terminal Market, The Mall, City Hall). I will definitely be back and plan to stay here in the future.
Staff was very kind and helpful. We had an impressive view from our room and enjoyed how quiet it was on our floor.
Great
Great hotel in wonderful area
Great hotel. Really our favorite. Thanks for the upgrade.
Exceptional Comfort and Service
We always have a fantastic experience at the Thompson. It’s our go-to stay every time we're in the city. The hotel restaurant is consistently excellent, with attentive staff. The rooms are impeccably clean, and the sheets are very comfortable for a restful night’s sleep. The location is perfect, just steps away from top restaurants, museums, and the park.
Very good !
Nice hotel
NYC
A wonderful trip! A great room that was quiet and the bed was so comfortable! We will be back!!
Weekend getaway
Great location near Central Park. Loved the style and cleanliness of the room. We were not there long but would return.
We arrived promptly at 2:47 PM with three small children after a six-hour journey and checked in. The desk representative informed us that check-in was at 3:00 PM and that our room wasn't ready. We explained that after such a long flight, we just needed a moment to drop off our luggage and tend to the kids. He insisted we return at 3:00. When we asked for the manager, she confirmed the room wouldn’t be ready until then—it was only 2:52! We ended up waiting in the lobby with our kids crying until the clock struck 3:00. I've never experienced anything like this before; I guess it’s just how things are at some hotels in New York.
Incredibly Average
We arrived 2 hours after check-in and the room was not ready. The fan in the bathroom was broken and it never got fixed. The room was a decent size, but the shower was half open and water sprayed out everywhere. There were no bath mats in the room and when I asked for one they brough a towel and said they were out of bathmats. The trash was not removed when daily housekeeping came. Room service was below average. The Thompson was not what I expected to say the least.
Nicely located hotel in solid shape.
Hotel nicely located close to Central Park. Hotel room has a small view. Waiting time at breakfast. In the club room, table was shaking and turning. Overall ok hotel. Rooms have Dyson hairdryer, iron etc.
Great staff! Moved rooms and left an electric toothbrush which they recovered promptly and delivered to my new room.
Superior customer service, cleanliness and location. Valet parking is a little slow, my only complaint.
Great, place ease of going in, out and around to and from Thompson. Parking or lack of parking was only issue. Although, valet took care of it for us, it was an awesome stay.
Staff weren't friendly
Excellent hotel. Staff are always helpful and positive. Property is immaculately clean. We will be returning whenever we're in NYC.
Front Desk Manager the rudest person I have encountered, patronising and purposely unhelpful.
We stayed here for 8 nights in August 2024, had a double, double room on the 29th Floor, with a view over the city for my son an I. Trip had been booked around a 'Future' gig at the Barclay Centre in Brooklyn. The hotel can be accessed from both 56th & 57th streets as was worried when taxi (Flat rate with tip $100) from JFK went down 57th street. Our check-in was straight forward, no wait arriving at hotel at about 8pm from Manchester. (Taxi took about 1 hr). The first thing we encountered are the 3no.lifts, which require you first to tap the the floor you want on the screen and then it tells you which lift to take. All lifts were quick & we didn't have to wait long. Our room had a walk-in shower, as we didn't want a shower over the bath type. Incl. a Dyson hair dryer. Rooms cleaned daily. Its location is great & all was walkable, 10mins to Central Park, 15mins to Times Square (This was through the covered public passages in the buildings opposite). Metro lines 5mins. Another reason for choosing was the incl. breakfast, which ran until 11am, good for lie-ins. This was served on the 3rd floor for guests only with incl. breakfast. It was buffet style and never seemed that busy. Another feature was something they call 'Lights Bites', served again on the 3rd flr between 5.30pm and 7pm which was great for pasta, soup etc. Drinks in the adjacent fridges were free. Only complaint was that I assumed you would get 2 bottles of water in your room, but I had to ask each day.
Great location, walking distance to The 5th Avenue, Central Park, subway station etc. Staff are friendly. The only problem is their housekeeping. There always something missing every day, such as didn’t refill paper cup or Q-tips, didn’t clean the glass, or didn’t change bedding sheet just leave it on the bed. Overall everything else was great.
Highly recommend
Unfortunately our room smelled like cigarettes.
The property was maintained very well, the staff while being efficient, the experience of The Thompson Hotel left me with the feeling of being in the END OF DAYS
Third time staying here with young grandson. Only concern was that breakfast location was dark and cold so we went out. Everything else great
NY city break 5 nights
Great location with easy access to two different subways. Hotel is nice - wear and tear starting to show a little but nothing major. Room was good enough size for NY - word of caution to travellers from UK - ‘double’ bed is small sized, we had four of us in a room with two doubles and the beds were small, but ok. We had lounge access which was great for water, sodas etc and the breakfast items each day were nice. Most staff were accommodating and pleasant. Special shout out to the hard working bar team.
Slightly less intimate than some of the other Thompsons were used to staying at. Lots of families and kids Only noticeable in the lobby, not an issue with any other time just something you don’t usually see. Staff was super friendly on many levels. Front desk check in, bellhop, dining servers. Room decor was nice. Definitely our reliable “mid range plus” hotel choice… A Thompson.
Excellent and friendly service though breakfast service could have been faster.
Good central location, quiet, clean, and great service.
Service was second to none!
This hotel was very nice and clean, however even after inquiring about a nice street view, we were looking at a depressing wall in the alleyway for 3 days.
Real nice. Property was convienan.
Good overall
we really enjoyed our time and Justin at the private client service desk is awesome! We really enjoy staying here. We'll be back soon!
.
it was okay and procing was also okay
Nice room, but there was a lot of noise from the street. It also took all day for the staff to clean up all the room service trays from outside the rooms
Excellent hotel
Amazing Staff and location.
Huge room and great location! Super clean and lovely hotel.
Staff was excellent. Very nice that a great breakfast buffet was included.
we had a great stay at thompson central. front lobby staff was excellent in getting us early check in and making great recs for eating nearby. would easily come back for our next stay in NYC
Overall great hotel, especially considering the very convenient location. First room we had was on a floor with rooms full of kids, and adjoining room doors are not too sound proof so we asked to move due to noise. Customer service was AMAZING! Allysa at the front desk and Justin were so helpful and got us set up with a room on a quieter floor. Would definitely stay there agan.
Clean, well maintained hotel. Two blocks from Central Park and easy access to the subway.
.
Room was bigger than anticipated and had bath with shower option which was great with younger kids. Access to lounge was also really helpful to keep kids fed and happy! Everyone was very kind, considerate and helpful.
I loved everything about this property. The staff were so friendly and helpful. It was very clean…and I’m very picky. The bed was probably the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept on, and I travel a good bit. Extremely convenient and safe location. We walked everywhere. Truly cannot wait to visit again soon!
The hotel is very nice good lcation nice lobby, the staf was nice and helpful The room is very big and comfortable Will definitely recommend this hotel
Hotel is very outdated. Windows in my room were metal sliders that let street noise in.
Great stay with my family.
Great stay with my family.
Great staff and location, had a super fun stay and felt close and walkable to many iconic uptown venues and restaurants. I’d recommend for sure.
Very pleased, clean, friendly, nice size room, offered me an upgrade and I was very grateful for that. Wish I stayed longer. Thank you.
