Had a wonderful stay in one of their King suites. Very spacious and clean. Really enjoyed unwinding at the end of the day in the hot tub.
Nice place
I didn't like the clothes rack, and all the cables around the TV--one of which required adjustment so the TV would work. The possibility of this problem was outlined in the info. book provided.
👍
wonderful entertainment
Our room was lovely and the breakfast was fantastic. We loved the staff who served breakfast. We enjoyed the pub and live music. Unfortunately the 2 rooms we booked in the lodge only had warm not hot water.
Rooms were old. Carpets worn out. Bathrooms needed fixing broken tile etc. room had a foul order. Our friends room had a squirrel trying to get in. Rooms small beds old no fridge. Had to go all the way to the pub to get ice. Just really poorly kept and definitely not worth the cost
Excellent friendly staff. We were able to get into our room early. Breakfast was fabulous
Couple get away
We had an amazing stay, loved our room and the friendlyness of the staff. We will definitely be back.
Great Stay
The stay was excellent and it was a nice surprise to find out our breakfast was included with the stay. Fantastic place
First room had no heat. The security guard intruded at 1 am in the second room, really scaring us!!! Management did not seem concerned and did not return our calls about the situation or offer any compension.
Great Service
Service was great. Both at check in and at The Barley Room Pub. Rooms are quaint and in keeping with the architecture.
Decor was dated. The room was small. The outside deck was in state of disrepair. Breakfast was not off the menu as advertised. A box breakfast instead. Very disappointing.
Convenient to local craft show i come to every year. Best free breakfast ever!
We stayed on the main floor, and there were quite a few bugs crawling into the patio areas, as it wasn't sealed properly. Also the reception didn't inform us about the Halloween "event" at the pub/restaurant. We only found out the morning we were leaving as the waitress let us know. Thankfully she let us wander around to check it out. For the most part though, we were satisfied with the place.
C
We had stayed at The Waring House a few years ago and enjoyed our time. This time was disappointing. Our room had a few issues with cleanliness- stains on the curtains, toilet not cleaned properly. Breakfast in the morning was a bit odd- everyone squished together in the dining room with one server ( Heather was great by the way...she was serving the whole dining room basically by herself and we felt bad for her. She was friendly and provided great service considering she seemed to be doing everything). There really should have been some music playing or something. It was such an awkward, tense vibe and we couldnt get out of there fast enough. Our room came with a beautiful big soaker tub which was useless because there is not enough hot water to fill it even a quarter of the way full. We tried two different times. Its a feature you pay for and then cant use which was very frustrating. The building has poor water pressure and clearly lacks the ability to support the hot water needed. The Barley Room Pub is a fun spot with live music and great, friendly staff. We will not stay here again but we will come back to The Barley Room for a drink if we are in the area again.
We have stayed at the Waring House a number of times and always enjoy our stay.
The basic room we had was clean, however, could use a refurbish. The carpet was heavily stained. The food at the on site pub was spectacular.
Excellent start to finish.
We enjoyed the relax atmosphere and the friendless of the staff
Lovely location. Decor is a bit tired and dated. Room is a good size. Couldn’t use balcony due to number of wasps. Excellent good quality and service.
Comfortable beds, Lovely dining room Most rooms have gas fireplace but ours did not in older section.
There was no water in the room .the wending machine and ice machine were out of order. U would expect finding bottled water in my room
it was easy to get around the property - there are several buildings that house rooms. they did up the wedding beautifully. meals were vey slow to be served. i would have like an itemized invoice at checkout - there were extra charges over and above what expedia invoiced me for and i don't know what they were for (not room service etc)

Always a good stay!
Nice quiet location. Comfortable with good breakfast.
General great stay.
For me it was like I was back on the farm. We stayed in room#3 above the pub. These rooms need to be redone in a big way. Small beds, really old bathrooms. The wallpaper peeling off as well as the paint with some cracks in the ceiling. Don’t look at ledges, window or stairwells because there are lots of dead bugs on them. The exhaust fan in the bathroom really needs to be cleaned in order for it to work well. We talked to people who stayed here and we agreed that it is quaint but it should still be clean. We only had breakfast for the 3 nights we stayed and it was quite good. This place is basically a Motel 6 in the country that needs a do over. If a few million were invested this property would attract a lot more people.
Electric outlets in our room were worn. Plug contact was difficult . Need to be replaced.
This place is very pretty, and staff is very friendly. High recommend for a weekend getaway trip.
Lovely country style hotel that brings me back in time..Enjoyed the green surroundings and quiet atmosphere of the property. The hike into town on the walking trail was an enjoyable activity..i will definitely return to this place!
Property is spread over several buildings with driveways and parking lots interspersed. Wasn’t cohesive in design. Our unit was housed in the ‘other building’ which needs a lot of work to the patios and outside of the building. Outdoor furniture was full of mildew. No way could a guest sit out on their patio and enjoy the sun. A facelift is needed and we were disappointed with that aspect of our stay. Once inside the unit was acceptable. Mattresses did not fit the frame which made the beds uncomfortable. Bathroom was very clean. Staff were exceptional. So some pros and some cons.
Waring House very well become a yearly fall outing! one thought - since most of the mid week, off season guests are seniors - I'd recommend adding senior's sized portions to the excellent menu. There was so much wasted!
Millennium Walking trail near the property. Old railroad line. Central for sightseeing in Prince Edward County as well as wineries.
I was a static how beautiful this place was having been going in the Picton area for over 30 years mostly camping. I was passing by this until finally this past week. My wife and I decided to stay there just to check out the area after so many years, not seeing it Was amazing value for the money. I know the time of year is different but still the rates excellent value also for anybody that wants to enjoy this area there’s so many things to do and the people Courteous I mean for me this is like a 9 1/2 out of 10 this place they’re experience the way they have detailed journals inside each room. They do things so much better than any hotel. All I can say is I’m so impressed. It was excellent thank you
Very quiet and easy to get around the area. The breakfast’s were pretty decent and the restaurant had a nice menu.
The breakfast offered by the hotel.
Room 15 in The House Door had a very strong musty odour. Leaving the windows open did not help. Dinner and service at the restaurant was very good! Breakfast and service included with the room was average.
Nice and classic atmosphere with clean room
We have stayed at the Waring House on a few earlier occasions and unfortunately find the overall conditions of the place have gone back- the food -supper and breakfast were not great - we love Picton and the area around the Waring House but were disappointed this time around!
Liked almost everything. No lighting at coffee station in the room. Dark to the point of couldn’t see a thing there.
Our room in the Heritage building was beautiful, clean and very large. The property is pretty and centrally located to tour the County. It is very convenient to have the pub and restaurant on site. We ate at both and our meals were good, staff was friendly and there seemed to be enough people working there but the servers seemed to be unorganized and the service was slow. We’d return again. Enjoyed PEC and the Waring House.
Breakfast was fabulous! Loved the live music and authentic food!
The quality of the accommodations has clearly declined in recent years. While breakfast remains enjoyable, the rooms feel dated, and cleanliness is a concern. For instance, our room had only one facecloth, and the toilet seat wouldn’t stay up—an inconvenience, particularly for male guests. The carpets and TVs are overdue for replacement, and we even found mold on the balcony chairs. On the plus side, the location is excellent for cyclists, with direct access to the Millennium Trail and close proximity to downtown Picton.
I have stayed here previously, once above the restaurant in the main house and once in one of the heritage lodges. I was disappointed this time to be in the House next door. Very dated room and very uncomfortable bed with mattress toppers. I was expecting one of the heritage lodges and was not clarified by Expedia when we booked our rooom.
Lovely stay
Lovely room, a bit old English style, but so confortable. Everything was perfect: room cleaning, delicious breakfasts, confortable bed, spacious room, very nice personnel and very well kept grounds.
What a beautiful place staff so friendly and helpful dining very good lovely breakfast. Perfect place so clean inside and out
Courteous Accomodating Nice place to stay
A wonderful place to stay. Clean and comfortable. Rooms a little small but to be expected with the old historic house.
Great property
Check in was easy, the grounds are lovely but the buildings & rooms need to be upgraded. I found the room stuffy and the floor carpeting smelled mouldy The outdoor furniture outside our room, the railing and patio were in urgent need of painting. The breakfast was great!!
The property is well maintained and the staff are very nice. The rooms are due for an update as it is very much an early 2000’s feel. The restaurant was okay but didn’t live up to our expectations. Staff shortages probably contributed to our overall experience. A nice place but I’m not sure it is worth a repeat.
The food at the Waring House pub was very disappointing for a culinary school. I had been there several times before about 15 years ago and it has changed drastically. The service was fine but definitely not outstanding. For a place well known and expensive as the Waring House, it was not welcoming at all and definitely underwhelming.
The Waring House is a superb facility for accommodations and dining. Our suite was spacious and well appointed. The dining room was excellent and we ate both supper and breakfast (which was included). I must note that breakfast was served from the menu (not a buffet) and included orange juice, individual mixed fresh fruit bowl. There was also an adjoining pub with live music. Thank you Ashley and Heather for your attentive and engaging table service! Highly recommended! Thank you!
Lovely place. Reasonable price. Just a short stay. The full breakfast ( incl ) was a nice touch.
Conveniently located in PEC and central to several wineries and breweries. The Pub is a great place to catch some live entertainment later into the evening. Beds are not comfortable and rooms are dated but generally clean. Staff are friendly upon check-in and check-out.
The property is beautiful and big and so are the rooms. The breakfast that was included was very tasty and generous. Close access to walking trails and to quaint village of Bloomfield.
The king suite we had in 'quaker' was beautifully appointed, quiet and very comfortably furnished. Large rooms. The breakfast was very good. We will definitely come back and recommend 'The Waring House'.
Gorgeous gardens and facilities
Property was great, staff was amazing. Some parts of our room could have been cleaned more (ex: tissue was left in the bathtub and bathroom surfaces were somewhat sticky) I usually clean high touch surfaces myself and we did not use the bathtub so that was fine. Overall would go back.
We liked our stay! Not many places to stay close to the Sandbanks and this one is good. The best was the friendly staff at the pub (with entertainment!) and at breakfast time (Heather is the best!). We would stay there again. We heard not all rooms are renovated. We stayed at the Quaker building and it was renovated, no problems at all.
This stay is so beautiful and serene. Great restaurant on site with complimentary breakfast and lots of parking.
Liked the concept of smaller buildings, spread out, lovely lawns and gardens, quiet and very good food on site. In particular appreciated the inclusion of breakfast with the reservation.
We really enjoyed the spacious corner suite in the Quaker building. It was clean, quiet and relaxing. The location was perfect for visiting the County. We definitely would recommend Waring House and look forward to returning.
Great stay!
Nice place needs a little tLC in certain areas but overall a nice place!
The location is within walking distance to Picton. The property is beautiful and very well kept.
Very beautiful and the staff are very friendly. Amelia's Garden restaurant had great food; the pub/lounge food was not that great - served cold - very disappointed.
Although the rooms decor were outdated they were clean and comfortable with all the necessary items to make us comfortable. Breakfast was a lovely sitdown treat.
?
The gardens are beautiful, the staff is nice, the included breakfast is delicious and the rooms are very nice! We would definitely go back!
Comfortable, quaint and good value. The inn is a bit dated, but makes up for it in the the gardens, dining options, breakfast, live entertainment ( wed to sat) and pub. Been here many times in the past
Beautiful setting, lovely rooms, very comfortable bed, linens, furnishings. Love have a private balcony overlooking countryside. Will be back!
.
The facilities are wonderful! We enjoyed our King suite with double access to a small patio and Adirondack chairs, looking out onto nature. The rooms were generous and the washroom was huge! The dining options are very good. The food is yummy, with the breakfast included being very filling to start the day. The only suggestion we would make is to train waitstaff more diligently for a more upscale dining experience rather than a "diner," based on the behaviour of the staff (we became accustomed to the daily complaints of being short-staffed, scolded for not knowing we needed to ask for the yogurt even though it was listed on the items that come with the breakfast, being bumped repeatedly as they passed by, and putting the cutlery on the chairs when setting up a "fresh" table for incoming guests, and the list goes on). We had the same server every morning, and her negativity did not help guests to have a positive start to their day. Other than this, the entire experience was wonderful. It became comical after a time, but I'm sure not everyone would find it so. The location is fantastic, with beaches and local areas in the region just a short drive away. We enjoyed the gardens, took in the pub, and went for many strolls, enjoying the grounds. It is clear that everyone is working hard to provide guests with a positive experience. Despite the morning "show," I would return and recommend this establishment to anyone wanting to go to Prince Edward County.
Beautiful grounds. Lovely breakfast. Great bed and relaxing quiet area.
Terrific location and wonderful restaurant. Good sized rooms and quiet. They definitely need an update though. Carpets and furniture is quite old. Missing garbage bins around property. Open areas around property could be used better for guests. Outside furniture needs a better cleaning, including the doors/screens to outside. I know this is a hard ask, it is the country after all. Great people and very comfy king sized beds.
Romantic getaway in the county
We’ve been to the Waring House before and it was just as lovely as before. Comfortable rooms with modern comforts. Convenient location for cycling and restaurant had delicious meals.
Room excellent, large studio on ground floor with walk out to gardens. Close to wineries ...
Nice relaxing and beautiful property. Could just stay here and relax for the day.
We were only at the Waring House for a short visit and loved how the property included all we needed. We enjoyed lunch at the pub and also dinner and Open Mic with James. Breakfast was super tasty and Heather keeps the service running quick and smooth. I would highly recommend The Waring House.
The house next door
The Waring House is a charming little inn. The room service was great, towels were changed daily as well as the wine glasses we used. Now the beds and pillows were not the most comfortable but if you can look past it isnt a bad place to stay. Heather at breakfast was the best!
We had a very comfortable and pleasant experience,
We love the beautiful place!!!Our hotel room is super clean and quiet in the evening. All the staff are super friendly. We will definitely come back, I would say, The Waring House will be our place to stay whenever we go sandbanks, Picton and Belleville.
Convient location to sandbanks. Nice room, good service.
It was a very nice stay
Unique, lovely little area close to everything
Very nice place to stay.
A very nice place to stay. Staff friendly and efficient. Good food and idividual breakfast. A secure place for our bicycles.
Very poor dinner experience. Waited almost 2 hours for our meal and then tasted terrible. Drink came in a chipped glass. Waited 20 minutes for another drink. AC did not work in our room only the fan. Hair dryer was very small and did not work the second day. Breakfast staff were very good. Breakfast was good but not great.
Such a beautiful property!
There were ants in the room, including walking across the pillows. We stayed in the "House next door". We asked for a new room and were told that it would be 190$ difference from the expedia price. Staff were rude and unhelpful when we asked for a change.
Great place and amazing food! Could use an update.
The front desk was wonderful and pleasant! The overall property is cute and cozy. It was great property for location and not far from Sandbanks or Picton. The in house restaurants were amazing! The pub had A+ food and service. Everything is fresh and local. the breakfast was delicious and a la carte. They do make you feel rushed though at breakfast. It can be busy but you don't need to be forceful with your time. As long as you are patient you will enjoy it! The pros is that it's an adorable property with a lot of culture and family feeling. the downside is that the residences have heavy carpeting with a musky smell. The TV backlight was broken so unusable for our stay but we didn't need it anyways. our room happened to be quite small compared to a family member who booked the same and had a nicer and more spacious room. our bed had no headboard unlike theirs so pillows kept slipping behind the bed. a lot of dust around the residence as and carpet could use replacement. all in all it was a great value for what we paid. we loved the staff, food and location and would stay again at that price point.
Great hotel
The hotel is designed in a single style, making you feel like you've stepped into the 19th century. The wallpaper on the walls and the interesting bar are beautifully furnished. The service is excellent, and the breakfast is outstanding.
Lovely property with very friendly and helpful staff. Also wonderful art throughout.
Beautiful gardens and close to miilenium trail
Very quaint setting all was lovely. Only disappointment was I would have enjoyed seeing The Sand Banks beach but like all beaches it’s closed. This certainly isn’t a reflection of the Waring House.
Good but not eco-friendly
We have stayed at The Waring House previously to visit Prince Edward County. Our room was clean and comfortable and very spacious. The included breakfast was excellent and the staff warm and friendly. We did have an issue with the ice maker being broken. The inn had installed a freezer but it was empty. When I called to the front desk I was told I would have to take my ice bucket to the bar to get it filled. When I asked if a staff member could bring some, I was informed that they couldn’t. For context, it’s about a 10 minute walk to the bar outside. I was also disappointed with the over use of plastics: disposable plastic cups in the bathroom and single use plastic containers for condiments at breakfast. The inn can do better than this.
Good location, comfortable bed.
