The Stanley
This is a beautiful hotel with a lot of history. Located in the heart of the business district and about 25 minutes from NBO. The employees seemed very kind and eager to be helpful. The woodwork is immaculate and even though it is currently under construction for the rest of the month still looked beautifully maintained. I think for the price paid it was a great stay.
Everyone was very welcoming and genuinely nice whether it was the service in their 3 restaurants, walking around in the hotel, or asking for information. Always willing to help even for a visit at the city market or a quick history tour of the hotel of the great explorers Stanley and Livingstone. Live music 3 times a week and the buffets were always very tasty.
Excellent friendly staff. Good location. Ask for Richard if you need a driver!
Excellent staff! Excellent services! Very welcoming and friendly! Supreme comfort!
We loved our stay at the Sarova Stanley over the holidays. We stayed there on 3 nights - one when we arrived , one when we were transitioning from the coast to the upcountry part of our trip, and one when we were leaving. Each time, we found the staff friendly, helpful, and respectful. The rooms were large and clean. The dining was excellent with a great atmosphere and even live music. And the spa was fantastic - great massages! Very highly recommended all around.
Simple delightful
Amazing! Great food! Wonderful staff! Centrally located!
This is where I take my clients and groups of 10 on our trips to Kenya. There’s more modern hotels but no hotel has the history, the culture and the amenities like the Sarova Stanley.
Great character and brilliant service
Amazing stay
Best hotel in Nairobi
The Sarova Stanley was superb. Great facilities with multiple dining options, a beautiful bar area, very good workout facilities, etc. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful in all ways - helping with shuttle service, food, and special needs. Copntact them ahead to arrange airport pick-up! We especially enjoyed spending time chatting with Beatrice, Collins and Maxwell. HIghly recommend!
Terrible property whose best days are behind it, do not book. There are other much better hotels in Nairobi.
I had 1.5 days until my next flight and decided to stay here last minute. It was an amazing stay! Every member of the staff greeted me with a hello and a warm smile. My room was clean and cozy. The giant bathtub was a dream! There is security in the front of the hotel so as a solo female traveler, I felt safe the whole time I was there. The heated pool was also very nice to enjoy. Would definitely recommend this hotel 10/10
Amazing stay
Lovely stay as usual at the best hotel in town
Stayed 4 weeks over the course of a couple years and it’s always a pleasure with great service
Very historic upscale establishment with top tier 24-hour restaurant and extensive breakfast buffet. Exudes old money class.
the old charm of the hotel - the history, the wood trim, the bar and music, the staff was very helpful and friendly with excellent english.
Amazing Sarova
Best Hotel in Nairobi, amazing management and very welcoming staff
Excellent hotel. Staff is professional, helpful, efficient and friendly. Twin bed room was clean, attractive and roomy with convenient power outlets and all the amenities (except hair conditioner). Beautiful public spaces.
Amazing! Great service, food, people, amenities
Our family of 4 stayed for two nights in the Sarova Stanley. We found the quality of accommodations to be excellent: the staff were simply amazing - so helpful, friendly, and attentive; the rooms were comfortable and well-appointed; the on-site facilities were great (in particular we loved the heated rooftop swimming pool). Staff helped us book a shuttle for the early morning departure. We did not make use of the hotel's safari booking services or on-site restaurants as we were able to find more cost effective alternatives - budget is a concern for us (although we thought the hotel was worth the cost). Overall, we had no complaints about the Sarova Stanley, and would gladly stay there again and fuly recommend it to others.
Great ambience!
Great hotel in Nairobi. Much better placed for business travel than leisure.
Beautiful 5-star property with huge rooms, excellent service, and complete with outdoor pool and a big gym. Has a nice spa and outdoor restaurant as well. Unlimited water bottles is very nice. Located in downtown area. Breakfast buffet is a bit expensive but was well worth the cost as many food options are available. Staff are all extremely kind. Would definitely recommend.
My parents retired recently and I was the traveling agent/ Organizer. They were just coming back from their Zanzibar trip, I chose Sarova Stanley because of its proximity to the bus station. Personally I have never stayed in Sarova hotels. I made the best choice because they can’t stop talking about Sarova Stanley. From the front office (Jesse), the immaculate spacious room, the intercontinental breakfast was mouthwatering, the porters and the chauffeur were delightful. Thank you for making my parents stay worthwhile.
Property is very traditional, some would say dated. It was clean and comfortable. Bed was a little hard for my liking. Staff and service as good. Centrally located, many shops and market for souvenirs just outside. Lastly, food is pricy but good.
Love the hotel itsel, customer service and breakfast buffet! Excellent hotel!
Staff provided a high level of customer service. The rooms were very clean. Loved the property
Staff are very friendly
Very convenient location and walkable
Good
The hotel is nice and well maintained. The area is ok. The prices for restaurants and other activities are expensive
The staff is helpful, courteous; and always has time to chat, help, laugh, give advice about the city, or anything else. They took care of us in a way I’ve never experienced before. Never!!
Always has been the property right in the heart of Nairobi with over 125 years of history. Still a very well maintained and run hotel.
Amazing staff
The staff were amazing from the moment I checked in and throughout my stay
Exceptional
We stayed for 7 days at the hotel and found the staff incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Steve was AMAZING and helped us sort out all our day trips and safari. Whilst organising our trips, he would teach us on Kenyan history, which was fascinating. A few other members of staff that stood out were George, Paul and Beatrice. I highly recommend visiting Nairobi and definitely stay at The Savora Stanley.
Amazing
Central location with dated grandeur
The staff for the most part were beyond amazing. They were incredibly kind and attentive. We did have a few issues with our rooms and ended up having to move rooms two times over our week long stay which was very frustrating. Definitely recommend checking out their different restaurants.
Clean and freindly
Staff always available and smiling Property very clan despite of the age
The room is spacious and nice, and also the view
Hotel is very nice, staff is welcoming and helpful!
Very friendly and helpful staff
Very friendly staff!
Best affordable 5 star hotel in Nairobi
We were so impressed with our stay at the Sarova Stanley, coming into town for business. The folks at the Stanley had two wonderful restaurants, a great gym, world class sauna and steam rooms, and an incredible pool deck as well. The library/bar on the 1st floor also makes working at the Stanley seamless. Three employees in particular made sure our stay was incredible: Richard, Beatrice, and Josef. The Kenyan hospitality shined throughout our stay here and we felt lucky to have found such a gem in Nairobi. We will be back!
The first room 310 was small and the outlets didn't work. The second room 329 was nice and i would use this hotel again as long as I was booked into the nicer room.
The staff was great, the fgirst room we stayed in was average at best. The second room was much nicer. (Ask for room 310)
Ive already answered these
Great
The place to stay if you're downtown Nairobi. Very central to everything
Really great hotel - very clean and lived up to the 5 star name. The room was very spacious. The staff were very helpful in helping exchange money (Sara) and helping us buy our train tickets (Steve). Definitely would recommend! Thank you very much!
great service
I thought every staff member I met was friendly and helpful; always greeting me with a smile. My room was spacious and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom needs upgrading but all amenities were provided. The pool area is lovely and inviting. The gym also needs upgrading and is a bit cramped. The building itself is charming. Hotel is located in downtown which is quite busy and noisy but not where the tourist attractions are located but Ubers are readily .
Very beautiful, homely and spacious hotel. Excellent service too. Emily checked us in and she was very cordial and hospitable. I would surely be back and hope Emily would be on duty when I check in again.
This Nairobi icon is a true gem ! A wonderful hotel with an amazing history. A remarkable staff, extremely warm and welcoming. We will highly recommend the Stanley to family and friends.
Staff are amazing, very clean.
Beautiful hotel!
Let me start off by saying... WOW. This was my first visit to Kenya, and I feel like I could not have picked a better hotel. "Property condition & facilities" only got 4 stars because they are renovating so I had to go to their sister hotel to use the pool, which also means the gym was temporarily closed. At the top of the endless list of positives: THE STAFF. I cannot say enough about the staff and how incredible every single staff member was that I encountered. I felt loved, respected, seen, cared for, and welcomed during every minute of the 4 days I was there. Eunice, Emily, Emily, Kendra, Sarah, Boneface, Beatrice, Beatrice, Samuel, Richard, Edgar... the list goes on.. and they were all SPECTACULAR! I felt like I was a part of the family. My heart was full of joy and love the entire time I was there because of the staff. The management is strong and extremely personable. The front desk staff members are dedicated, thoughtful and attentive. The concierge/porter team is friendly, quick, observant, and charming. The dining team and the kitchen team are engaging, delightful, invested and joyous. And lastly, the housekeeping team was warmhearted, hard-working and cheerful. In addition to the staff, the room I stayed in was perfect, clean and very comfortable! AND the food from the dining room not only met my expectations but exceeded them! Definitely get the breakfast option! Honestly, I cannot wait to go back. They made my trip a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Great place if you need to do go for a walk in the CBD. Wonderful breakfast and general service.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and bed was comfortable. I wish the AC could go a bit lower ( the lowest setting was @ 16*C) for sleeping. Breakfast buffet had a decent variety. Overall my stay was very pleasant.
The property was OK, however, I did not receive my VIP benefits, and that was quite disappointing This is a five star hotel, and the complementary beverage to my upgraded package was only a soft drink.
The service was wonderful
I ask them to upgrade my room they did not accept
Very nice staffs , close to shops and restaurants ,easy to get transportation and feel very safe in CBD area
Fantastic!
This is an amazing hotel with history, great food, very comfortable amenities, and a Missy helpful and polite staff. I loved the brand ambassadors!

Best Hotel in Nairobi
Best Hotel in Nairobi, central location, Amazing staff, very professional and welcoming front desk receptionists, very comfortable bedding, lovely design, food is great, special thanks to Ms. Caroline.
We had a great stay before and after our safari. Staff was very friendly!
The most amazing quality of the Sarova Stanley is the outstanding customer service provided by the staff. The hotel is in a great location in Nairobi and the hotel itself is historic and well kept. We re-booked to stay another day before we left Kenya because we enjoyed our stay so very much. I would highly recommend the Sarova Stanley to anyone travelling to Nairobi.
Lovely hotel with incredible staff. I always enjoy my time here, its the best hotel in Nairobi.
Location.
A classic hotel, great facilities, wonderful breakfast
The hotel is classic and been in operation for sometime, it is nice enough but not modern
Great customer service. Willingness to assist.
I’ve been staying at this hotel for over 20 years. This hotel has always been clean and the staff, professional and courteous the staff always make you feel welcome and constantly check to make sure everything is OK.
This is an older hotel and while going for a luxury feel could use some maintenance upkeep. Most of the staff were friendly. Only two bottles of water for the room. Food was a little overpriced. Not a lot of understanding or assistance booking activities. A microwave in the room to warm foods would be nice. Staying alone I had to eat a whole pizza or eat it cold bc it couldn’t be reheated.
The staff and hotel property are beyond our expectations. Warm and freindly, delicious food, 5 star service. An unforgettable experience.
We had an excellent trip to Nairobi. After our safaris we stayed at the Sarova a Stanley for 4 nights.Peter at the front desk was very helpful and Sam the driver he recommended to take us around was very knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with. Sam was able to take us wherever we needed to go and often made very good suggestions.
EXCELLENT
I love staying at the New Stanley Hotel, this is my 10th time over there and it’s always the same. Everybody is friendly from the security to the house keeper. I paid for a regular room and they gave me a suite on the 7th floor for the same price. Their breakfast buffet is the best with variety of food and fresh juices and fruits. I will go there again and again.
Great place!
Staff were helpful and nice. Share the history of the hotel, it felt like a privilege to stay there. I thought they overdue it with security measures. I someone visit me and my husband and the wouldn’t let them in the room because she had forgotten her ID. Even though I confirmed I knew her.
The warmth and friendliness of the staff, along with their impeccable professionalism, made me feel that I was not just a guest or a customer but a good friend visiting them for a few days. As a solo traveller, staying in hotels can sometimes be a lonely, impersonal experience but here the experience was quite the opposite - I felt completely happy and at ease. Furthermore, the hotel’s history, its elegance and its charm make it a memorable experience. The Thorn Tree Cafe and Thai Chi served genuinely exquisite food and The Exchange Bar was my favourite place to go for a little after-dinner cocktail, where I could lounge in one of its leather chairs alongside local business people as well as guests, making it a vibrant and charming place to be.
Good value, friendly helpful staff
I liked the old world charm of the hotel.
I had a great experience at this facility. The staff were very, very pleasant, accomodating and professional. Catherine, Raphael, Alexander, Stella at the Exchange Bar were just dynamite! Head of security Justus was very helpful & accomodating when I made a mistake. I thank him for that. The food was fresh & excellent! It is the restaurants in the surrounding area you have to be careful with. Eating OUTSIDE the hotel is what got me sick. My stomach never had a problem or revulsion with the hotel food. I would just like to be clear about that
Super helpful staff.
Very nice older hotel with kind, caring staff. The breakfast buffet was also great. Thank you for a pleasant stay!!
Unique and historic property very well maintained with very attentive staff.
Very friendly staff. The towels weren’t the newest, but they were clean. There was some misunderstanding about my transport bill, but it was resolved amicably. The food was good and the restaurant staff accommodated my requests even after hours.
Great stay at the Sarova Stanley in Nairobi
My stay was really good. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and well kept. My room was comfortabe and was perfect for a busiess trip as the desk is a good size. The Wi-fi at the hotel is fast. The food at the Pool Bar and the Thorn Tree was excellent, particulalry breakfast on Friday at the Tirn Tree. I have already reseved my room for my next visit in 2023 Security is good at the hotel.
poor customer service
poor customer service. nobody attends immediately. no problem solving intentions, everyone just passes the buck
We got a fruit / chocolate tray in our room
Staff excellent but property generally feels in need of some upgrading.
They wants $100 for early check in even they have rooms available. I saw several groups left the hotel because they insist this charge. After hours negotiation, they agreed on $40. Then they also ask for $50 for late check out. I stayed their for 2 nights with 2 kids. They also charge for $40 for extra person. So do not book this hotel. This is not a good hotel at all. You can have many other choices around there.
Nice place, clean and tidy. Staff very kind and professional. Extend stay.
Great stay at a great hotel.
Great location and people were outstanding, always helpful and trying to deliver the best service possible.
i liked the style and decor of the hotel. so much history on each floor. The staff were all very friendly and so helpful, The staff seem to blend in with the hotel My room was large with a very comfortable bed. The hotel is next to plenty of shops and restaurants if you want to venture out. Breakfast was very nice with many options and i had dinner in the ground floor restaurant . The food was very tasty plentiful. On my return from a morning tour i joined a history tour of the hotel. I will hope to stay there again on future trips . A wonderful hotel
Check in was very slow at midnight after 24 hours of travelling. Then, it took 4-5 times to get the safe fixed. The wifi was very unstable, though after many times of inquiries, the relations person loaned me a dongo to use which solved the problem. Then, > 100 people checked in, and the next day there was absolutely no place to sit for breakfast. Otherwise, it was all good.
Good
