We loved everything, especially the pool, the food, the service and the quiet beautiful beach. We will be back soon!
Staff was very friendly and gracious, went out of their way to help with anything. Great breakfast buffet with plenty of variety and offerings. Nice private beach area, but cushions on lounge chairs were not secured and kept sliding down the chairs when chair backs were inclined. Sea Breeze rooms were spacious though mattress was hard and pillows fairly flimsy.
Stunning resort. We had beach rooms with direct access to the beach. I am literally on the beach. The hotel staff were all amazing, some of which I will mention by name. Jamila, Lilly - I think, Rashid, and because I don’t remember all the names, everyone went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Thank you, hotel management and staff, for living up to our expectations and much more. If we are ever in Diani Beach, this is where we will stay
Stayed 3 nights in the beach cottage…the view is stunning and the cottage is very cozy…the first night suffered a bit from mosquito bites but the reception staff ensured the following nights mosquitos free. The beach is beautiful with soft white sand and falling asleep with the backdrop of the ocean waves was such a blessing.
Nomad Diani is excellent.
Had a great experience at Nomad resort. Facility was clean, friendly staff and excellent dining options. Highly recommend this hotel.
Diani stay was a dream
I Loved my room. It was a sanctuary. I loved the beach and the set up of how the hotel was on the beach. Pristine, beautiful and like a dream spot. I do wish the front desk service was more professional and attentive. My arrival was fantastic. But any calls or interactions with them, was un educated about the hotel on the whole and barely helpful. The room attendees are magnificent. The wait staff were lovely. Restaurant manager was exemplary.
The Sands at Nomad is magical. The location is perfect. We had an ocean view room with a gorgeous view just steps from the beach. The property is more of a boutique so it never felt crowded. The staff was simply phenomenal. They were so kind and nice, and assisted us with whatever we needed. The onsite dining was wonderful. The pool area was lovely (just the right size for us). And, we loved the monkeys and bush babies that frequented the property. We were a family of four (two adults and two teens), and we loved staying here.
Great but there is always a room for improvement.
Sands at Nomads is great overall, but there are little things that could be improved. One big one for improvement is the restaurant - both the food and service. The menu is hit-and-miss, there are some great dishes but many far from great. The restaurant service could also be improved. During our 4 days stay, our orders were confused more than once or twice or the restaurant staff did not actually know what the dishes are.
A nice quiet small hotel with generally very friendly staff right on the wonderful Diani beach. Learner divers in the only pool could upset some people and there is a fair walk to the main restaurant.
Beautiful location. Staff are very professional and friendly. Definitely a 5star rating
Very nice boutique hotel in a very private area of Diani Beach. Has a private sunbathing area overlooking the beach and also a great private pool. The staff are extremely friendly and there are great dining options on the hotel grounds.
This place is amazing!
The hotel is set in the most wonderful location, you can expect to have the Indian Ocean lapping your feet, the wind in your hair and the sun on your face. The staff will cater for your every need, be sure to do the 7am yoga sessions with Sam, it’ll set you up for the day, follow that with an ice cold madafu with breakfast at the Nomad bar. You must also indulge in the Sands Signature massage; 2 hours of pure bliss (as if you needed anymore!) a body scrub with followed by a massage, you will float out of the spa! The food is delicious both for lunch and dinner, we were lucky enough to be there for the full moon in March and captured some amazing photos. We are looking to return in January 2023…something tells me this could be my ‘go to place’ for some R&R and to escape the UK winter. Thank you to all the team at Sands at Nomad. You made our break so special and we can’t wait to return.
Would Return!
Fantastic stay, great property with helpful staff. Beach was clean and soft white sand
I absolutely recommend staying at this hotel if you are visiting Diani beach. Upon check in we were greeted with coconut water and a flower necklace, nice little welcome touch. We were also upgraded free of charge to the junior suite which made our stay even more comfortable. They also gave us a free thirty minute massage. All staff were really nice, funny and always helpful to any request. Room was equip with all amenities needed. Scuba diving courses available everyday at 4pm were absolutely fantastic. Breakfast and dinner options were good, again all staff here were really great and attentative. The beach is a public beach and could do with a seaweed clean up however the waters are beautiful and warm. Recommend leaving items in the hotel vicinity (sunbed area) and going for a dip in the ocean. You will get people coming to haggle to take you snorkeling/boat ride but they are friendly and leave you alone if you are not interested. I would for sure come back to this hotel if I return to Diani beach.
The hotel accommodation is what is to be expected from a five star beach hotel; in every respect. The staff are well trained and friendly. But the beach is the big surprise. It is stunning. I had a great holiday.
Amaing stay on an amazing beach
The Sands at Nomad provided a wonderful stay at one of the world's most beautiful beaches. The staff were amazing, providing friendly, courteous and professionalism at every step. The room was spacious, comfortable and had a great view of the ocean. The restaurant was good and a perfect spot for sunset drinks and dinner. The pool bar was my favorite with great drinks, food and service. The check-in/check-out processes were quick and efficient. Benson in Guest Relations was helpful with anything needed and in arranging transportation on the day of departure. You cannot go wrong with a stay here.
Excellent for holidays.Everything is perfect, place, beach, staff, food.
Great location right in Diani Beach. Perfect for those looking to relax and enjoy the sun and sand. The hotel staff are always around and at hand to help with anything you need. They all greet you even just in passing which really does make you feel welcomed and comfortable. As it is a boutique hotel it’s simplicity is comforting. The spa was incredible. We got a few treatments in there as well as couples massage in a beautiful hut room in the middle on the forest. Very calming setting. The food was always delicious although we did venture out and try other restaurants in diani beach area. The only downside i would say is the pool. The pool area is lovely and great for sunbathing and just having a little read in the sun. The pool itself however doesn't really accommodate for all level of swimmers. Its very small and a large section of it is used for diving sessions. Overall great hotel in a great location
Excellent boutique hotel
Excellent hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Only downside are the flies in the rainy season and a rather basis gym.
Food was good with a generous portion but not consistent. Food was half cold most of the time. We had a fantastic beach front balcony with superb view but the monkey poo in many places were stayed with us throughout the stay as they didn’t clean it up. Staff in general are nice and attentive, but we had a fly in our drink. One should know that full board here doesn’t include any drink not even water but you can select any dishes in the menu. Beach was fantastic but the so calked ‘Nomad beach operator’ who supposed to ensure no harassment by the local vendor to the guests turned to be a problem themselves as they insisted that you visited their totally overpriced shops on the beach and eventually buy something there! Otherwise, it was a nice stay!
A paradise discovered
It is a wonderful hotel complex with a lot of nature and outdoor living. The pool and the ocean is delightful and you would spend most of your time there. There are a huge number of water sports you can do and that are available including learning to Scuba Dive in the hotel and through their sports center. The restaurant had a lot of good staff - Schiller, Wilie and Bahati in particular. Benso the guest relations manager was so very helpful with recommendations on local trips for the day and also restaurant recommendations if needed. It is a beautiful lace to spend some days.
Hotel has a lovely beach. The beach beds and towels need renewing . Restaurant and bar are good and in a nice location. Rooms not quite what I had envisaged. Bar staff friendly. Overall a good stay.
Property needs to do more to remove dead palm tree branches. I saw 2 HUGE limbs fall with one of them almost hit a guest eating dinner. Also, it would be nice if the bartenders/waiters would take orders from the guests laying down by the beach instead of just hanging around in the bar.
the restaurant and the beach could have better managed....
Good location right on the beach. Lots of water activities that can be booked through the hotel. Sea breeze room with balcony was lovely.
We stayed at the sands for two nights. The owners are very nice and when they explained the eco friendly nature of the hotel it gave the place a certain charm. But the serving staff were the least friendly out of all the places we stayed in Kenya. The service was also incredibly slow in comparison to other places we stayed. Our internet wouldn’t work for the first day, however this was eventually fixed by the staff. The food is far better in the beach restaurant compared to the hotel restaurant where everything was over cooked. Little things like the handle of the toilet flush being rusty made it feel a little grotty. This isn’t a bad hotel at all, but certainly isn’t a luxury get away.
Great get-away
The hotel staff was very friendly and always willing to assist. We appreciated that the attitude from the staff was personal and at the same time professional. The facilities were great and we really enjoyed our visit there. Would definitely recommend it for other guests.
I liked everything about the property, except when it came to paying the bill. I wanted to pay in USD and the rate they offered was absolutely ridiculous. If I'm dumb enough to pay a 10% exchange rate penalty on the standard, then I'm not smart enough to stay in this hotel. It really left a poor taste in my mouth.
Beautiful hotel next to the beach. Excellent staff and service.
Excellent price quality ratio. Next time plan to stay 3 days instead of 2 to take advantage of scuba diving
Great stay at the Sands
We went to the Sands as the last the last leg of our two week trip in Kenya. Compared to some other places we stayed in Kenya, it was relatively expensive, but at the same time the service was excellent. For example the mattress in our room was extremely uncomfortable, and without a question they switched out our mattress. The food is pretty good, and the beaches are beautiful. If you're looking for a classic resort experience, the Sands is for you.
Fantastic staff and facilities. Exceptional food
Great restaurant manager, Trui. Very professional.
Stunning cottages next to a stunning beach
Beautiful hotel and cottages on Diani beach, south of Mombasa. Food excellent, facilities superb, staff lovely. Highly recommend.
Great Diani Beach hotel!
We stayed there 3 nights before we went on safari. We had a wonderful relaxing experience.
Excellent Service
Excellent hotel with excellent service. Completely outstanding! However... bed was very hard for my taste and the locals down on the beach keep you from being able to relax. I would stay here again but give a firm NO to the salesmen on the beach and just cope with the hard bed.
Cottage on the beach
Like most of the hotels down the coast, Nomads has suffered from a drop in tourism. As such the feeling was that the hotel upkeep has not taken priority. The Rooms are pretty pricey for what you get. We stayed in one of the cottages near the beach as we had travelled some way to enjoy the gorgeous beach and sea, and thoroughly enjoyed the short walk for a dip in the warm Indian Ocean. For what we paid we expected a few more luxury items on the room e.g. Shower caps and other bathroom accessories, and cleaner rooms. There are some lovely touches however, like the small pool to wash your sandy feet, the private-ish sunbed area and the swing chair. The breakfast was pretty disappointing. Having stayed at other hotels in Diani, where the food selection is expansive, it was quite disappointing to see what was on offer. However, we liked the restaurant, great menu, good food and beautiful views. Overall, the views are gorgeous, that's what you pay for. The staff could not do enough for you, especially at reception, the restaurant and hotel bar. I would recommend if it was less pricey.
Great 3 star
A solid three star and an average four star. Friendly service, great location but food, room and presentation a bit tired - could be better!
When we checked in our room smelled like mold. We wanted another room, they didn’t have one. We ended up paying for a upgrade, and even after that the hotel manager was extremely rude to my wife telling her we should have picked a different hotel, and he was right. We loved the area but not the hotel
A place with wasted potential
This a beautiful boutique hotel. Food was generally excellent (I recommend booking with half board option, which is well worth even if drinks are not included - not even filtered water). We had mixed experiences with the hotel staff. In restaurants, everyone was just great. At the reception everything fine except for the last day, when we were denied a late checkout despite the hotel feeling half empty. Our welcome was particularly unpleasant as we had to wait 30 minutes until the guest relationships manager finished to tell us about the hotel and the possibilities of purchasing excursions, activities, etc. This wasn't very elegant and quite annoying after having travelled for so long. It would be much better if the hotel invested in updating the information package at the room with all these activities along with their prices and who to contact to arrange them. Lastly, the worse part was the gorgeous white sand beach, which unfortunately was infested with salesmen who were literally following us until the water to try to sell us staff (this is despite insisting several times on the same day that we wanted to be quiet). Not my idea of a quiet holidays: the hotel would vastly improve if only they stopped partnering with these salesmen.
Short Break
We had a short break at the Sands and it was exactly what we needed ie a getaway where we could unwind, enjoy a very beautiful place and recuperate from normal life's activities.
Good restaurant on the beach
The sands at nomad is a friendly hotel, it's probably 3star minimum, unfortunately the rooms are very dated the bathrooms need a complete overall, the shower head was rusty, shabby dressing gowns. We stayed in the family suits, the mattress was on top of a concrete slab! And so was the seating area in the lounge. We tried the al a carte restaurant one night it turned out to be very disappointing all the food was cold. The saving grace at this hotel has to be the food in the beach restaurant excellent food when it's available. Trui, winston. Charles are a credit to the restaurant they go above and beyond to make things as perfect as possible . Actually all the Staff at Nomads are great .
great place to stay on Diani
The hotel itself was a bit jaded but staff and position made up for that. Restaurant food was consistently amazing every night with great service tho breakfast was not so consistent. Fabulous position right on the beach small and friendly and so much better than the larger but impersonal hotels.
One of the best hotels I have stayed at!
The Sands at Nomad is one of the best hotels I have stayed at anywhere in the world! The property is simply fantastic (and I had it almost entirely to myself due to low season), the staff were all extremely attentive (minus the reception who were a bit grumpier than everyone else), the room was simply wonderful (definitely splurge to get an ocean view suite to make the experience worthwhile), and the food was awesome (and the staff at the restaurant, especially at breakfast, were flawless!). Be careful to note that check out time is at 10am and they are overly strict with this policy (even if the hotel is empty!) but otherwise the property is simply perfect for a nice relaxing vacation.
We enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Beautiful views, kind staff. Food at the restaurant was simply amazing! Small note- the room was advertised as including tv which was not in a room. However having such beautiful views around we did not miss it.
Lovely boutique hotel
I stayed at the Sands at Nomad for 3 days in September, and wish it could have been longer! The staff were very attentive without being over-bearing and the surroundings were just lovely. The food was delicious. I will definitely return and hope to also visit Sands at Chale, which I heard from other guests is amazing.
Paradise
We had a forest view room which was a little dark and there is no view, however the room was clean and well air conditioned. Our bed was what I would describe as 'very firm'. The staff are all very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is pretty good, with the a la carte menu always supplemented with a couple of daily specials. The sunbeds are plentiful and staff regularly come round offering to fetch drinks etc. The gardener was always keen to shin up a palm tree and fetch a green coconut for you. Only thing to watch out for are the monkeys that will brazenly creep up and rifle through you belongings - and be warned, they are intelligent enough to unzip your holdall before spreading its contents across the lawn. The beach is virtually deserted and made of the softest whitest sand we have ever encountered - idyllic. Only downside is the hawkers on the beach who will descent on you like a pack of vultures to peddle their tat if you try to walk down to the sea - not the fault of the hotel - but intensely annoying. Our advice is to firmly say no and then ignore them - don't make the mistake of being polite to them, you have been warned!
Great place to get away from everything.
One of the best hotels and service we have found
The hotel is set in beautiful grounds with views and access to the amazing Diani Beach. The grounds are excellently maintained and have lush tropical vegetation with tree-shaded walkways linking the various locations. It is a truly beautiful place for a vacation. The SeaBreeze room we stayed in was an excellent size and had a view of the beach through the trees on the property. It was clean and well-serviced. The pool is a welcome family-friendly spot to relax, and you can usually find a shaded place to stay cool in. You are able to get whatever food and drink you need from the poolside bar/cafe. You need to watch out for the cheeky monkeys - they are inclined to steal food from your plate - though most times the hotel staff do a good job of keeping them at bay. The buffet breakfast included in our booking had an excellent selection of cold food - and you could, of course, order hot breakfast at an extra cost. The location of the restaurant is perfect, allowing us to have a leisurely breakfast next to the beach each day. The service provided by the staff was excellent - everyone we met was friendly and helpful from the moment we stepped onto the property to the time we left. Overall, one of the best hotels and service we have ever experienced :-)
This hotel is a gem on the South Coast of Kenya
Me any my partner stayed at Nomad for a 5 day that started just after Christmas and ended just after new year. We had a very warm welcome at the hotel and the cold flannels on arrival were a god send in the midday heat. Our room was generously proportioned and luxurious with a huge bathroom and a spacious balcony including day beds. The staff at the hotel are all very friendly, making all of their guests feel like individuals and they do all that they can to try and make your stay special and relaxing. The management team are attentive and value all of their guests. The food has an italian influence and is exquisitely prepared and presented. The quality is outstanding and the menu varied, there is something for everyone here.We arrived at their busiest time of year and the staff were still attentive and cared about making our stay special. I love this hotel and will definately be back!

I enjoyed this hotel. It’s gorgeous and its proximity to the beach (and wildlife) was cool. While the staff were kind they didn’t always display initiative. I was disappointed by the lack of activities/entertainment outside of water sports, the flies in the restaurant and second-hand smoke that entered my room. I think they’re target
