Love Sun Peaks
A little confusing between directions to our suite in Residence rather than hotel. Would be easier to check in at Residence area for sure.
This is my second time here. Always here whenever in our family ski trip
Fabulous location at the base of the slopes. Swimming pool and hot tubs were amazing. Really spacious 2 bed 2 bath suite with full equipped kitchen and comfy beds.
Not a 4* and forget the +! Its a 3 with issues!
You enter through a very dirty, dusty, unvacuumed side entry. Get into an elevator with broken flooring, dirty walls and a non functional security system. You arrive to your floor and exit into another dusty unvacuumed hallway with dirty dishes stacked outside doorways. (the dirty dishes where still there the next day) Upon entry to the unit. It smelled ... unused. floor was NOT clean as gravel and sand was visible on the carpet. Kitchen was about as tidy as my 15 yr old would leave it. (counters poorly wiped, stuff missing or put away "sorta") Bedrooms had old beds! The kind of bed where you sleep in the trough on either side and never meet over the ridgeline down the middle. We checked in Thursday and left Monday. Our room was serviced once in that period. They made the bed and tidied, didn't vacuum and didn't clean the bathroom (toilet bowl stains remained the entire visit). The empty shampoo and conditioned containers were not replaced and the empty loo roll was not filled. (ladies bring your own shampoo and conditioner as the ones provided are single use for a couple!) Clearly I wasn't pleased. We paid a premium for a 4*+ resort and got a solid 3* overpriced experience. its just not being maintained! you pay for parking in a parking garage full of dirt and dust from last winters gravel roads. 6 months to sweep up the dirt in the parking garage and its just not done.
We love Sun Peaks and we always enjoy the Grand with our kids. This time our expectations exceeded our experience unfortunately. We noticed that the hotel common areas and pool deck/pool water were not clean. And that the hotel needed some TLC. And a few other guests that we spoke with shared the same feedback with us.
manager went above and beyond to ensure our stay was fantastic!
Always love staying at the Residences. There are some things that are not as good but with staffing shortages, we understand. Cleanliness, particularly of the shower is one of them. The sink in the kitchen had a major leak. But otherwise, great stay.
It was nice and clean, mattress were old and not comfortable
Family vacay
We stayed 6 nights in a one bedroom suite and had an amazing stay! Plenty of room for the three of us our suite had all the amenities you would need for 6 nights and days. Even though the hotel was short staffed you wouldn’t have know it. The pool and hot tub area was perfect for relaxing and playing. We look forward to our next stay and will never forget the room number we stayed in.
Great location. Spacious rooms
Nice spacious suite with kitchen.
The suite was really nice and spacious. We loved it and will definitely come back again.
Great stay!
We wanted a somewhat close weekend away and it was our first time staying at Sun Peaks. The hotel was great and very accommodating
Our stay was tremendous. The condo was lovely. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the property to friends.
Sun Peaks at its best at wildflower season
Love to visit for hiking and golfing. Perfect stay a way from home in BC
Beautiful hotel, we all enjoyed ourselves.
We have enjoyed coming here for years. Two disappointments this time: 1. We were placed in room 1311 in the Residences, which is essentially on top of Morrissey pub and makes sleeping next to impossible. We asked to be moved but got NO response from the manager, which was very disappointing 2. Hot tub jets appear to be broken, in all the tubs. Not a big deal, but still not on par with prior experiences
Staff at checkin was friendly, 2 room suite is way, way over priced for what it is, they hosed us because there was a freestyle competition on the hill and availability was limited. Sun Peaks is a great hill, tons of terrain and friendly staff, sushi place is great, bring your cash and credit cards, food is more expensive than Whistler.
Could use more cutlery, dishes, etc. Also a shelf or something in the shower for shampoo instead of the floor. Overall the condo was clean and comfortable.
Sun Peaks Summer
Absolutely fantastic
Great ski weekend in a fabulous hotel right on the mountain!
Here we go, my first negative review in 15 years of traveling the world. Not the first negative experience, but the first one I'm compelled to right about. "The Residences at Sun Peaks Grand" was advertised as a 4 star hotel with 4.6 (superb?!) feedback. I was looking forward to having my family enjoy hotel's amenities, but what we found when we got there was not what I expected. The stay wasn't a total disaster but it was far enough from "superb" that I have to say 'buyer beware'. The Good: - the staff is very pleasant as you can expect from Canada's ski resorts; very nice and easy to talk to; The Bad: - buildings adjacent to the main building are not quite ski-in/ski-out and you'll need to walk for 5min or so from the chair lifts - when asked if they can provide slippers with bathrobes, they said "we don't do that"; I have never seen/heard this at a 4-star hotel before; - the pool (outdoors) is very old and run-down; it is in a dire need of a remodel; very sub-par for a 4-star facility; - the game room: out of 6 arcades, only 1 1/2 worked The Ugly: - leaky toilet in the room, making noises all night; - construction everywhere - out of 4 hot-tubs, 2 were non-functional - sauna was closed/non-functional, which is a big deal for me on a ski trip; - nobody at the front desk in our building (only in the main building) and due to construction, no way to get to the main building except to walk outside of the hotel (3-5min walk through the snow);
Nice hotel in the mountains
Excellent location to get away for a relaxing weekend. Walks in the area beautiful.
Super convenient location. Easy walking distance to everything. No need for a car. Hotel is comfortable, clean and well stocked. Pool is small for the size of hotel. Can't imagine what its like after a day of skiing. Must be jam packed. Would definitely stay here again. Staff was very responsive when we asked for anything. Could use a little updating but I believe that is happening right now.
The visit was great but the check in process was terrible. Had to wait for at least 20 minutes to check in. There was a big line up for people to check in and they only had 2 people working the check in.
Awesome!
Great location, very comfortable two bedroom condo. Right in the middle of everything but nice and quiet.
Nice surprise
The residence were amazing and so was the restaurant. We were not expecting much in the summer and this was just a pit stop but we really enjoyed our stay.
Great place to stay!
Big hotel long walk to get to pool, shower didn’t drain and the tv in the bedroom wasn’t working. Very nice room and we loved the in room laundry. We will definitely stay again but next time we will stay closer to the pool
Absolutely loved the resort! Beautiful get-away!!
Great for a family vacation!
Beautiful accommodations. Great resort and village for a Family ski vacation.
Great hotel right in middle of ski village
Loved the hotel & the position of the hotel, the only negative was that our king bed was broken so the 1st night was very uncomfortable
Need a Break?
Beautiful area, beautiful hotel and a beautiful quiet, relaxing experience away from the daily grind. Thank you Sun Peaks Grand Hotel.
Had a great time! Thanks
Great place and atmosphere in the village is amazing.
Stayed in the residences. Had a beautiful suite.
Spotless Had every amenity possible. Not one complaint ! Thankyou Grand @ Sunpeaks !
The Residences are worth the $
We booked a room in the Residences and could not have been happier with the room. It was very large, and having a washer/dryer was a real plus. We also enjoyed cooking for ourselves in the room. It would be nice if some basic supplies like cooking oil or salt & pepper were provided. Other than that, it was a great night's stay.
Sun peaks getaway
Nice location for a weekend getaway, clean modern room and facilities
Perfect location
Nice stay in the summer
Nice stay in the summer. Good for family. There are farm market in the weekend. Kids could play in the playyard. A nice stop between Vancouver to Banff.
Road trip
We were on a road trip from Whistler to Banff so we rest in pick this one in kamloops to rest for 1 night, there is a beautiful village on the property but is not really close from the street must have to detour almost an hour, if you going ski resort or something else everything is perfect
Had a wonderful stay, the hotel was excellent!!
The hotel is really nice, the restaurants in the area close really early in the evening which was not convenient but we managed!
Great Hotel!!
Just stayed for a week with our family of four. The hotel is centrally located in the village which makes it easy to get to all shops and restaurants and you're literally at the base of the hill which makes it a lot easier when skiing with kids. The ski valet is also extremely handy at the end of each day. We had a one bedroom plus den and there was tones of space and could easily sleep six. The full kitchen is also extremely convenient when you're there for a week so you don't have to eat out every meal. The grocery store in the village is on the expensive side but to be expected for a ski village. This is also the fourth straight year we've stayed at this location, would definitely recommend!!
Great place to recover after skiing all day, but..
Great place to stay after skiing and snowboarding all day. Unfortunately when we got there the hot tubs were not working and there wasn't hot water so we decided to go straight to bed. After a while relaxing in bed the fire alarm went off because someone decided to smoke inside of its room. I'm aware that this wasn't the hotel's fault (except for the hot tubs and hot water) but our experience wasn't the best. Planning on going back soon expecting to have a different experience this time.
Quiet getaway near Kamloops
Spacious and clean one bedroom suite with kitchen and laundry. Resort had good amenities and was not crowded.
Great condo and terrific off-season rates
We had heard about Sun Peaks from some friends and wanted a nice place to stay on our way from Alberta to Vancouver Island. We chose the Residences so that we'd have access to a kitchen for our 2-day stay and the price was great. The condo had everything we needed, was spacious and beautiful. The furniture and bed were very comfortable. The staff were friendly and very helpful. There's quite a bit to do, even in the summer, such as taking the ski lift to the top of the mountain for hiking or mountain biking, or try the go-carts. We decided to rent a canoe for an afternoon. The rental included life jackets and paddles and directions to a beautiful mountain lake where the canoes and kayaks were kept. We had a wonderful afternoon on the lake - quiet and relaxed. There were only 2 other boats on the lake besides us. We loved it. Can't wait to go back!
Very nice as per usual.
Hotel experience was great. Down side was that after we checked in I looked up the rates on the hotel web site and found I was paying more using Expedia than if I had booked directly. Called Expedia but because I had already checked it they said there was nothing that they would do. That was pretty disappointing and I will book directly with the hotel next time.
We have never been to sun peaks before. The residence hotel was very comfortable. We only stayed 1 night but with the kitchen and large living area it would be a great place for a family vacation.
Spacious and clean hotel with friendly staff
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Residences. The staff was always so friendly and kind. The power in Sun Peaks went out during the first night and caused our AC to not work. The staff gave us an extra half day to enjoy the pool and room. Close to everything and very spacious for a couple or small family (and pet).
Make sure your credit card a high credit limit.
We prepaid for a two night stay at this 'hotel'. They placed a credit card hold on my card four different times for close to 1000 US. Doesn't make any sense to me. 4 days after we checked out, two of the holds have not been cleared yet. Other than that, my only complaint is the carpet needs a thorough cleaning to get rid of the stains.
We would stay there again. The resident suits are excellent.

Everything was great, except when my daughter broke her arm and didn’t want to share the pull out couch with her sister, they wouldn’t give us an extra cot because of “safety” reasons. So she had to sleep on the floor.
