Redwood budget accommodation

Easy check in. Studio unit basic and a bit dated, but clean, quiet and perfectly adequate for us.

The hotel is a nice place to stay. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are tidy and clean. The hotel, we were told, was used for accommodation during the Commonwealth games. The bar/restaurant is next door and has great food. The only downfall is some of the amenities didn’t work or stopped working during our stay and some things are outdated.The staff fix the situation without hesitation and we were well looked after. We’ve had 2 separate visits there and will continue to do so.

Very worst hotel of my life, i will never suggest anyone to book this hotel for future, no wifi , no dental kit, very old rooms and features.

Restaurant on site

Every thing was fine nice Retaurant exceppt for the hot water sounding like a Rotorua guysers until it heated up then had an excellent shower. Chippies biscuuts water every day most unusual.

TV didn't work. Tap leaked and run all night I was fine for a night but wouldn't stay again Sorry

Comfy and great value.

I spent 4 nights here and would happily stay again. Daily servicing of the unit revealed a number of complimentary things that other places either charge for or only provide once. Nice surprises such as free access to a laundry, kitchen and complimentary a couple of drinks in the restaurant where you get a great meal and service at very reasonable prices and big servings. A nice, firm bed gave me great night's sleep. As for eco friendly, I didn't need fresh towels every day but really a minor issue. Good location to get around the city with public transport readily available. Thanks Redwood!

The staff was friendly enough, but the wifi was terrible. The certificate had expired so the connection was not secure despite needing an individual user name and password to log-in. Because the connection was not secure, some websites were not able to connect, and I was unable to send 3 text messages because my phone was "waiting for a connection" (waited for 1/2 hr before giving up) even though my phone settings indicated I WAS connected to the wifi and I had received an incoming text message just a little while earlier.

Friendly staff. Good value for money. Central to many activities. Nice spacious lawn area and huge trees out front.

The Redwood was excellent value, very quiet, suitable, very Motel like, parking right in front of your unit, the Redwood pub close by was very handy for dinners, great menu and tucked behind the motel so I couldnt hear any noise at all. good all round accommodation and financial value.

Stay again

Excellent value. 5 stayed 9 nights for a sports event. Stayed here before & always enjoy. Free laundry on site, all staff helpful & friendly. Limited menu due to time of year but expect at xmas new year. Dated decor but all functioned as it should. Only issue is if alot showering at same time water can run low or oyt but wait 5 mins & all good. Oh & 2 complimentary drinks on arrival. Happy days

Not bad but your standard middle of the road, low budget accommodation It could do with having basic cooking facilities even a microwave would have been useful. I’d stay again though

The staff are awesome and the bar and grill that is attached has great staff and affordable good food. We came back for a second stay. Highly recommend for couples and families.

Easy for what I needed

Lovely to have a great priced restaurant on site plus a free glass of wine. Could use a bigger curtain on the window with the porch light shining in all night. Comfy beds and very clean

Appreciated the reasonable charge for our motel

Appreciate if you can replace the individual cold and hot water tapes to a mixer at the basin and it'll be excellent. Luckily the hot water temperature is not that hot and I can still use it.

We have stayed a couple times now (both times just 1 night) but super happy, friendly and great service. Clean and tidy, out dated but im not complaining. Lovely lawn kids just run around.

Friendly staff, great bar and restaurant

We unexpectedly arrived early and was able to check in straight away. Very comfortable beds. We did have the room right next to the road therefore there was alot of traffic noise but would still stay again.

On arrival, the friendliness and efficiency of the reception staff is impeccable. Unfortunately our unit is in need of some TLC but it is exceptionally clean and serviceable. The wall heater is very intrusive as it is very loud. The restaurant is tremendous. When we have to come to Christchurch we always stay at the Redwood and eat at the adjoining restaurant. We’re very happy with this arrangement.

Nice, clean and tidy. Shower over bath may not work for everyone. No cooking options in the room but a share kitchen on site. Comfortable facilities. Parking outside the door was great.

thought there could be a table also better kitchen facilities eg microwave and space the bed and pillows were lovely and soft and comfortable

Lovely, friendly staff. Just a short drive from the city. Rooms are in dire need of renovation & maintenance. Ridiculous shower head placement; great for children but no good for anyone over 1.3m tall!

Water pressure wasn’t the greatest couldn’t have a shower as it was cold and barely any water

Ok for a quick stay

This hotel was sufficient for our quick stay - only one night, arriving late and leaving early, and close to the airport. It was cheap and all we needed. However, if we were staying any longer I would go somewhere else. It's very old and badly in need of renovation, especially the bathroom. The outside light above the door made the room bright (the curtains didn't block much) and there are few facilities in the room (tea and coffee only). There is a communal kitchen but the microwave was broken.

I will definitely select Redwood Motel when I go back to Christchurch

Checking in was a breeze. Really friendly front office. Key box system worked well. Arrived after hours and left early. Rooms are very nice. Well kept for age of property. Bathrooms are slightly vintage but in tidy and clean condition. Added to experience.

The overall standard of our room was well below except able. Dirty chairs, TV didnt work. Toilet to close to wall, Access to shower in bath dangerous, no handrail. Uncomfortable bed. Wont be in a hurry to return, way over priced for this in its current state.

Spacious car park, everything clean and tidy

This hotel was a bit dated but it was clean and cosy. We walked to the bar and had a meal and some drinks. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. The meal was lovely and very generous. If you don’t want a flash as motel then this one will be fine. I’d definitely stay again.

Room was filthy and had rotting around the entrance of the shower. Light bulbs were blown and not replaced. Even found a used flannel in the shower when I went to use it! Window latch had broken off completely from rotting wood above the sink, shower curtain was disgusting and needed a good soak or to just be chucked and replaced. However cheap place to rest your head. Bed was clean at least.

Rooms very dated. Cob webs in closet. Cracks in wall in bathroom, toilet bowl black, toilet paper roll behind you when sitting. Bathroom taps leak.

Was extremely happy with our stay very accomodating and the staff were lovely.

Easy access and parking after hours. Clean and tidy room. Disappointing to have been given a wifi password, but not one of three adults could access on their respective devices.

This property was a pleasant surprise. Very clean and room serviced daily to a high standard. Shower was amazing and the supply of electric blankets was nice. Heater on wall pretty noisy but this isn’t something that usually bothers me. All in all, really decent place to stay and good value for money!

Heartland hotel not for kids .

Our stay was GD but with two little kids and put upstairs seemed silly and unsafe.i rang for drink and went to reception as told no one came so had to walk to garage down road.could not heat any food for baby as no amenities in room for it.Could do with a microwave in RM.Also parking was a nightmare.Cleaning lady lovely and would of loved to bring her home haha.Very helpful.

Basic, but everything we needed. And the receptionist was just lovely. Very handy location, which for us was the most important feature.

Clean sheets, effort was made to ensure site was hygienically apt. Unfortunately facilities are worn down, cracks in toilet (no leak), door is not sealed and is too far from the sills and allows too much cold air to come in (Christchurch winter season is a problem).

The room was good with a beautiful view. Just was not satisfied with the force of water in the shower. Overall Clean, spacious and nice room

Room was spacious and clean. And great complimentary snacks and drinks. Walls very thin unfortunately during our stay there was a young group very noisy running up and down and banging on doors for quite the period of time.

the good thing about this place is yu can reach all the facilities around you, a bakery, restaurant, fish n chips, liquor store, a bar, pizza, indian,lebanese food, up the road a little is the belfast mall, shopping centre......you dont need to even go in the city......it has all the necessary facilities, shower toilet, but no kitchen area, which sux.....a fridge, outside table and chairs.....overall it has what it says it does and nothing more, but i felt relaxed there, was kicking myself when i didnt buy a lotto from the neighbouring lotto shop, which was on the same block and they won the 7.5 Mill that weekend i was there......darn it......lol

The price is not too dear, however, it is quite far from city center. The property is old and the floor is not clean

Cheap accommodation

You get what you pay for. Cheap but adequate. Road very noisy.

The cost is cheap but very dated. You are given the minimum to use. Two soaps, only one teaspoon. Old, little cup and saucers. The castor wheels on our bed came off a couple of times. We were happy with the location it served us with what we needed. You did not even hear traffic noise which was great.

the bed had a broken wheel and the courtyard was filthy

value for money with good sized room. It is not very far from the airport so convenient too..
