Mixed review of The Met

The hotel was beautiful and the staff were very nice. We booked an "Exective" room and it was very lovely and comfortable. The breakfast was also excellent. Even though the hotel is off the beaten path, we used the shuttle to get into the city which was great! However... when we returned to our room after our evening in the city there was no water at all and when the water finally did come back on there was no hot water. Granted, this may not have been the fault of the hotel and the woman at the front desk was very kind BUT...the bottom line is a hot shower is an expected service and if it isn't provided (for whatever reason) the guests should be compensated. We were not offered any type of refund or compensation and I sent an email to the hotel which received no response. I am interested to see if this review is responded to. I really don't know how to review Hotels.com. If this review receives any type of follow-up I will be happy. If it doesn't, then not so much.

Gayet güzel bir konaklama

İş seyahatim için 3 gün kaldım. Genel anlamda oldukça memnun kaldığım bir konaklamaydı. Otel personeli ilgili güler yüzlü, odalar temiz, konforlu, kahvaltı fena değil, sessiz sakin bir konumda, karşısında büyük bir alışveriş merkezi var ve merkeze yakın.

Amazing hotel

Stelios the guest service agent was the one I was mostly interacting with and he was helpful and insightful with his recommendations. It’s good to know there is kind and welcoming staff at the hotel I usually stay when visiting salonika.

Checked out late and was told that kitchen is closed, no food service! And the pool is closed on the only day that I was planing to have a rest by the pool.

Wonderful

We only stayed 2 nights unfortunately. We enjoyed every moment we stayed at the hotel. The hotel is very clean, quiet and creates a very respectable and welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast was varied and very tasty. Many thanks to all the reception staff who helped with the guidance on Thessaloniki. A special thanks to Mrs. Potini and Mr. Thanos who went out of their way to assist us when we accidentally left our cell phone at the hotel after checkout.

Nice hotel. You should it is in the port. Unfortunately swimming open only from 10am to 6pm. When you work, impossible to use it.

Met Hotel stay.

Great hotel and facilities. The gym, pool and spa are excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is a slight walk into city centre and sights, but I like walking. Excellent views of the sea and Port area.

Fiat lux!

Our stay was a short family one with my daughter. The venue was convenient for city dwelling - parking was much appreciated. We made use of the facilities, albeit not all. Staff was very helpful and polite. Sure to return one of these days. Efharistoume poly!

The hotel is very stylish. The room was very nice with good beds and a bath as well as a shower. Breakfast was very good and there are two good bars, one on the ground floor and one on the roof. Only drawback was a location about 500m away from the centre, but they run (mostly) an hourly shuttle bus.

Not worth it

It’s a well designed hotel, but not well maintained. You can see how the furniture and common areas have started to fall apart. No tea/coffee maker in room. I personally had a bad experience with their pet policy. 50EUR per stay plus additional 10EUR per day. On top of that there are plenty of restrictions, like if you want to leave your pet in the room it should be in a cage and others like that. So, I wouldn’t recommend. The only reason we book it was because of the underground parking. Location is not ideal, it’s 20-30 min walk from center. And it’s not a nice walk all the way, I mean that part next to harbor. Other than that with pet or not, there are plenty of other far better options in town, even better priced. So, I wouldn’t recommend.

The location wasn't near restaurants nor the waterfront area, but if you have a car or are willing to use buses, then it's not a big negative. The facility is modern, with a lovely rooftop pool area, excellent gym and great breakfast. Our room had a minor balcony but big enough to sit outside. The bed was comfortable - not too hard, not too soft. Overall, an above average hotel for a good price.

They threw away the water bottle because I didn't buy the water at the hotel and I don't have a receipt. Very expensive hotel. Very expensive food. Best view, best space and incredible shuttle!!

I am a huge fan of this hotel. While some quarrel with it being “outside of the city”, it is a three min drive and the rooftop is dynamite. They also have a daily shuttle on the hour! Not sure if they are promoting that enough but it is a huge difference! Big fan of the food on the rooftop and so few hotels have a pool in Thess that you can swim in! This one you can! Loved having a little more space than downtown hotels and being able to work downstairs whenever with an early morning coffee.

really nice, comfortable

We ask for a baby cot and it came a very old and dirty one. The shower door doesn’t seal completely and all the water came out on the bathroom floor. Hotel corridors and carpet looked old. The breakfast variety was really good and we enjoyed it.

Excellent service but everyone I met. Very clean hotel and loved the rooftop pool area. The gym was very well equipped and new. The only downside is the location as it's a bit out of the way. There is a shuttle bus into the city but only during specific hours of the day.

Luxurious hotel, really worth a stay!

During check-in, they informed us that our room was not yet ready and made us wait for about an hour. The hotel is large, elegant, and beautiful. Unfortunately, the location is not good. There is a shuttle to the city center every hour, but it is difficult to reach places on foot around the hotel. We had booked a superior room. Despite being non-smoking, both the room and the air from the air conditioning smelled like smoke. The breakfast was varied and good. Both the outdoor and indoor pools were very small. The number of sun loungers was also insufficient. We couldn't find any towels. The prices at the pool bar were high, and they didn't serve beer cold enough and in plastic cups. If I wanted to drink beer in a plastic cup, I would go camping.

Nice modern hotel but not a particularly nice vibe!

The hotel from the outside looks like a new and modern hotel however the rooms are very outdated. The breakfast was great and the staff was welcoming and helpful. It is not worth the price I think.

No coffee maker, never got my voucher as VIP, no ironing board and iron … definitively not a 5 Stars. Hours of the gym not good at all and shuttle useless as this is only for a fix schedule and no flexibly.

This Hotel was very well maintained. The rooms were very clean and well decorated. The staff was great ! The hotel is outside the city center but they have a shuttle service every hour. We would definitely stay there next time we visit.

Such friendly staff, very upscale room, clean. Breakfast was incredible and lots of selection. Only thing is it’s a bit of a walk/short cab ride to “downtown” but hotel had no complaints.

Pros: The rooftop pool and bar is amazing and like the music they play as not too loud so you can still have a chat: however on one of the days the rooftop pool was closed and when we asked why they said due to weather but it was sunny outside and then later in the day quite a few hours later when it was windy and raining the pool was open.. Comfy bed and quiet surroundings so slept very well Friendly staff always on hand to help with any questions or requests Breakfast variety was very good something for everyone : however Hot items in breakfast always cold or luke warm made certain things unpleasant to eat like fried eggs. Late check out available Hotel shuttle bus to town centre: although we were a little annoyed as no one told us about this service when we checked in so ended up spending a small fortune on taxis as we didn't know about it until our last day Cons: Coridor very dark couldn't see where to put key card in when we first arrived at the room Not enough lighting in room Balcony covered with big metal bits ruined it a bit as couldn't really sunbathe on the balcony and would have been nice to have a table and chairs on the balcony No full length mirror in room which is minor detail but nice to have in any hotel room and an essential in my view In a five star hotel i would expect for them to offer dairy alternative milk for people with allergies and intolerances Roof top bar very expensive €6.50 for a plate of fries with some mayonnaise and €8 for a fruit plate Loca

The neighborhood is unsafe, unlighted and a 50 minute walk to downtown. We booked this property because of the pool, but it was reserved for Greeks only, and the pool attendants were horribly rude and wouldn’t even give us a chair to put our towels. They had parties every night and kept us up. The shuttle was broken and it is NOT a 26 minute walk to town as advertised. It’s at least 45 and the road is not lighted and dangerous. Horrible place!

Fantastic.

Fantastic hotel in a strangely isolated area of the city. Pool bar and service was outstanding. But it was hard to find much dining in the area unless you walked or took a cab into town.

Top services as usual. The rooftop pool bar is my fav spot, can spend the whole day there.

Great service Room a bit small

Wonderful hotel, not so wonderful location.

Very nice hotel! Check-in process with Chris was wonderful! We arrived at 10pm and he was extremely kind, informative and attentive. The restaurant had great tasting options and our waitress (red hair) we feel horrible for not remembering her name, but she was super helpful in assisting us with recommendations in the area (especially during the rain). Nick was also great late in the evening with all of our questions! We absolutely loved the staff. The rooms do not include any free coffee/water, in-room amenities are very limited. Honestly, the only real negative more than anything for us, is that there is not much to do in this location. We had to take a taxi into the main square every day. There's only 1 or 2 descent places to walk to for food as well, other than a grocery store and shopping mall/outlet across the street.

Clean Premises and friendly staff. The Hotel has modern contemporary design and it is very welcoming. The location is convenient (5 x minutes drive to the Port) but the immediate area doesn't offer anything.

The best stay in a while

One of the best stays in a while and im a frequent traveler. Unique rooms that feel like home, with beautiful balconies and food to die for!! Most importantly, super friendly staff who seem to care a lot about the people in their premises

Below my expectations

I had stayed before at the hotel and this time the hotel did not meet our expectations. The bathroom was overflown with water every time you had a shower. The breakfast was very poor and pricey (15 € per person) and definitely not worth it. Finally the location is not optimal as it is 30 minutes walk from city center in a neighborhood that is not so safe

We recommend the Met if you are taking a ferry.

The Met Hotel was helpful and arranged a taxi to pick us up at the airport, and another for our departure at the ferry terminal (nearby). We used their free shuttle service into the city center and back, twice, so that was nice. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty and they sent us with a breakfast to go for our early morning ferry departure.

Very good breakfast Location is not in optimal nothing in the area…30min walk or a taxi to the center, but, they have shuttle 5 times a day.

Truly a top notch establishment. Location is not the best but a simple cab ride for €3 is definitely worth it. Staff was beyond welcoming and friendly. Went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and at home after a long 22 hour flight. The roof top pool is also spectacular and I loved the breakfast. Thank you to everyone at The Met for kicking off our vacation so beautifully.

The hotel has good location. We arrived late and the check in was quick. There was no sign that the room was disinfected. The staff was kind and was wearing masks. The rooftop pool and terrace were great. The breakfast was good. Overall: good one night stay

Always amazing, always coming back at The Met

Happy to be back in the best hotel in town

The Met is the reference for me in Thessaloniki. Happy that they manage through COVID and that are back there providing good and quality service. The hotel is still running at a slow pace, it seems, but their excellent buffet breakfast-served with all precautions- made its way back. Given the low occupancy the service was particularly friendly and relaxed. They upgraded us to a better room and allowed for very late checkout. Parking also seems to be free. The swimming pool and other rooftop services are just great as usual.

cozy, clean, modern hotel with excellent breakfast and free parking. Staff was friendly The rooms (the executive which was booked) are rather small and not very convenient. Also the TV should be smart, it is a standard now days in such hotels. Restaurant prices more than average (for sure higher than an expensive high class restaurant) and for sure a hotel restaurant cannot be compared to a similar high class restaurant.

Great rooftop pool with views of the city. Friendly staff and good drinks! The rooms are a little on the small side, and it would have been great to have some seats/table available on our balcony as we weren't otherwise able to enjoy it. The location is ok, it's about a 25 minute walk to the city or a quick taxi/ electric scooter. Great for quick access to the outlet shopping mall. (During Covid) much of what is immediately around the hotel is closed.

The property is located close to ladadika with some incredible places to relax and dine. The promenade Which starts nearby takes you all of the way into the downtown area with incredible views of the Thermaic Gulf. In terms of service the hotel staff are attentive and incredibly diligent , aiming to meet the needs of all guests. They take time to show an interest in the experiences of guests. Georga and Antonis who are part of the Front of House team are consummate professionals who go out of their way to see to your every need as well as giving a warm welcome each and every time.

A very modernist hotel, very international. So if you are looking for local colour look elsewhete but great facilities including two pools and a steam room Excellent staff as you would expect from a 5 star hotel. We were very happy with it

The property needs a little bit of refurbishment. There is evident wear and tear in the rooms. The ventilation is bad, me and my wife felt unwell, for this reason my stay was unpleasant.

I like the concierge staff, sky bar staff, dear Despina, Penelope, Kami at the pool bar those 3 people and the other staff they were all lovely people. Breakfast was delicious, rooms were comfy, shuttle service was a great option to go to city center but it doesn’t last until 00.00. After the dinner we always had to take taxi... But overall thank you...

Was very disappointed by the room so much so we upgraded to a business suite at a cost. Original room poky and dark. Was not enough room To have two bags on floor and sit in the room comfortably. Staff were okay but on reception the staff were brusk. Wouldn’t say this is a 5* venue at all. Need to take the hourly free bus to get to city centre, be warned it is sometimes an elbow fight. Staff seem oblivious and care free to any feedback given. Wouldn’t recommend hotel if you are staying for more than a long weekend.

The perfect choice, albeit not in the center

I have been to the Met several times and it has consistently been a very good experience. Service is professional but relaxed, rooms are sleek and well appointed, all other services are top notch, including a great breakfast. In summer the real plus is the roof top with swimming pool, that cannot be matched by most other hotels in town. On top of everything, prices are overall affordable for a hotel of this level. The real minus is the location, just a couple of miles from the center, but not in the most attractive neighborhood. The view on the sea actually overlooks a rundown industrial area. Walking to the center is feasible but not a pleasant option. The hotel offers a shuttle that is however not frequent enough. It should be a least doubled in frequency during summer. What makes the Met a really desirable choice is the pool, and therefore it is to be preferred during summer. However, you will not be the only ones to make that choice: the hotel is very popolar and very full in summer, including for weddings and other events!

Holiday in Thessaloniki

The hotel is lovely and the cleaning is excellent. The only issue is the hotel charge for a bottle of water in the room. I have stayed in 3stars, 4stars and 5stars hotel. They normally have a free bottle of water in the rooms But in The Met Hotel bottled waters are not free

Thessaloniki is a busy city and it takes a lot out of you. This hotel will give you a serene, clean, and stylish break from it all, which you will not find in other hotels. Staff are passionate about their work and the food is outstanding. To top it all up, it is the only place in town with a roof top pool.

Housekeeping, concierge, reception and staff at the pool are amazing. Especially I noticed Kamilia and Nikos who work so well as well as the old lady with glasses who was cleaning the pool deck They didn’t stop a minute while serving to the guests. I should speak about this instead of writing. I was so happy to stay with you. It was my 6th visit to your hotel and I believe Met Hotel is one of the best of 2 “best service hotel” in Thesaloniki. Your staff most of them are incredible. Thanks for an upgrade and free house wine it was delicious also.

Great 5* Hotel. Georgia on the front desk was so accommodating and recommended a great restaurant for dinner. The area is a little out of town but concierge book you a taxi within minutes and taxis are very cheap around Thessaloniki. The hotel itself is well designed and laid out. The sky bar and pool is a great place to spend the day and swim. We also had spa treatments and they were great. The room was clean and good quality. Thoroughly enjoyable stay, would definitely visit again.

The room is very comfortable, clean, the mini bar has many options of beverages and food! The wifi is excellent! The bathroom is big , full of amenties.Something very useful the room has a hairdryer separate from the bathroom! The room service is very quick and also 24/7! The staff is very kind ! The only disadvantage is the pillows. They are not steady, so if you have a problem with your nexk the sleep is not comfortable at all!!
