This is the only place to stay for a visit to Chichen Itza. They have a five minute shuttle to the archaeological site and will even sell you a ticket before you go so you don’t have to wait in line. Plus it’s a really nice Hacienda style hotel

Nice...but!

There is no internet or TV in the rooms and this is told to you at check in with no sympathy or empathy. Alfonso and Alex in the restaurant were amazing, and so was Sergio the bellman. Nice place to stay when you visit Chichen Itza but be prepared to DISCONNECT. The staff have daily meetings in the middle of the reception area, which is awkward for guests. They should find another place...

Great Place to Stay at Chichen Itza

The Lodge was an absolute find! We found the staff very friendly, the restaurant very good, and the room very clean. The property was gorgeous. We could tell the hotel was just reopening post Covid, but we were so pleased we extended 2 nights. You can see parts of Chichen Itza from the lobby. We would come back

This is an amazing property located in the jungle, right next to Chichen Itza. We stayed in a traditional bungalow. The property is beautiful and well maintained, the room was clean & the staff was friendly & accommodating. Property is gated so also felt safe. Only con is that you can only acces the WiFi in the main lodge (not a problem for me, but the kids were bummed about it). I hired a private guide for Chichen Itza through the hotel and he was very good. I would highly recommend staying here!

** A must on your vacation list ** I have no words to thanks the beautiful staff at the lodge Chichen Itza. I arrived late and they were waiting for us. They even called us to ensure everything was ok! My family enjoyed every sigle day. This paradise is a place where you go disconnect and reset as a person. My two teens girls and my 5 year old boy had a hard 1st day since wifi is limited but im glad for it because it brought us together as a family. The ruins are the most beautifully thing I've seen (after my wife). But this review is to thanks the beautiful staff. From the front desk to the restaurant to the house keeping personnel. Joaquin thank you for your courteous attention, you made us feel like family. Alex and Francisco two gentlemen at the restaurant always there, day and night working with a smile. Luis and Salomon made a smood check in and check out and answer any question we had. Valerio the bartender always had the beer cold and a good conversation. Genoveva put her gentle touch every day she cleaned our room, always with a smile. Segio and Juan muchas gracias! The hotel opened up about 5 months ago due to covid and its been maintained in spectacularly! My message to all the travelers is to please treat the staff as you would like to be treated. The day we left they all said bye to my family and wished us safe travels. To my Mexican people I humbly ask that you guys take care of our people as they are a national treasure!!!

The property is stunning - historical construction with a beautiful setting in the middle of the jungle! The staff was great - very accommodating and did their best to make us comfortable. The property itself was on the upswing - I imagine it was closed for some time due to COVID. The pools were beautiful and the bungalows were clean. The meals and drinks were very reasonably priced and delicious.

They drove us to Chichen Itza and back as the private entrance is closed due to pandemic right now. Restaurant was good and fast too. They have their own tours and guides to Chichen Itza also which is nice. Room was spacious and nice. Beds comfy and cozy. Hammock on the porch was fun.

Great to have a place with an entrance to the site without having to fight the throngs ot tour groups. Very pleasant place to stay - when staying at the cabins, it would be helpful if the sign-posting was a bit better organized - in the evenings we managed to stray when returning (although it's a pleasant walk through the gardens).

This historic property is immediately adjacent to Chichen Itza itself making it the go-to lodging in the area. They have special arrangements with the park so we were able to see the sunrise over the ruins. The grounds are lovely; the rooms tastefully decorated. Downsides: the restaurant fare is mediocre except for the midday buffet which is extensive and tasty. The bed in the bungalow was VERY soft (like sleeping in pudding) and directly under the air conditioner's flow. The bathroom floor is treacherous when wet.

Highlight of our trip!

The setting is very authentic and practically magical. Pools are very cold but I’m sure that feels amazing when the weather is warmer. Front desk service was wonderful. Being able to enter Chichen Itza for the sunrise was very worth it but our tour guide was probably not one of the best. Focused more on pictures then history but some people would probably prefer that. You feel like your surrounded by the jungle but didn’t see any evidence of our close proximity in our room-which was gorgeous by the way.

The place to stay if you are visiting Chichen Itza

This is, in my opinion, the only place to stay if you are visiting Chichen Itza. The hotel is right next to the site and as a hotel guest, we were able to take advantage of the sunrise guided tour. It was worth the $75 USD per person as there were very few people at that time and just my family and one more couple in our group with the guide. It is magical to be there so early. As for the hotel, you can also buy tickets to the light show from the hotel vs. waiting in line. As for service, that was definitely lacking. The grounds are lovely and we were fortunate to have a bungalow right outside one of the pools.

Average, for what you pay

Excellent location, right behind Chichen Itza. Staff were very friendly. We were hoping for a more local experience - we ended up getting one which was like any other resort, with average quality of the resort itself, food in the hotel etc. We thought it was a bit pricey for what else you get for this price in Mexico. Note that there was no wifi connectivity within the rooms - which is meant to be part of the authentic experience. The room we stayed in (Bungalows) was also meant to be authentic with a thatched roof - it did mean that there were a fair number of bugs and a cricket that was noisy through the night! But I don't know that the hotel can do much about it beyond the mosquito nets they provide.

You could relax in a hammock on your porch, meditate by the lily pond, get a massage at the spa, or lounge by the pool. Watching a peacock stroll by our window added to the elegant dining experience. The hotel grounds are really charming, with curved walkways and trees overhead. It's directly next to the Chichen Itza ruins, meaning it's easy to get an early start and beat the crowds and the heat. If you prefer to drink bottled water, bring your own: The hotel and the connected stores charge around 5x what we paid at the supermarket. The room itself was beautiful, but poorly maintained. Our room was in a building with 3 other rooms, and there was very little soundproofing. The bathtub badly needed regrouting, and it made odd sounds when I stepped in certain spots. Wifi was out of range, and I was just barely able to get a cell signal (this part is charming if you have the right attitude!). The restaurant attached to the hotel lobby is wonderful. Overall, this is worth a stay for a night or two if you are visiting Chichen Itza.

Luxury stay at The Lodge at Chichen Itza

We booked a 2 night stay in a junior suite at the last minute and wish we stayed longer! This property is so lovely - it's a paradise oasis at the foot of Chichen Itza. We stayed in a separate 'cabana' style unit vs. the hotel that was so charming and clean. We enjoyed swimming in 2 pools and a delicious breakfast in the main restaurant. Nice bar in the evening for drinks too. We watched an Imax show on the Mayan history in the theater on-site. WI-Fi not available in the rooms, only in the lobby area. The staff was so friendly, professional, and helpful. The front desk helped us book tours to Chichen Itza for a day tour and the night time light show - amazing! We also toured nearby cenotes and the local town. The property had so many amenities, but we did not have time to try them all. A few stores, cafes, full service spa, bike rental, horse rides, hiking trails, buffet lunch restaurant, free parking, meeting room, and airport shuttle service.

I didn't want to have the kids (11 to 19) to have the tour bus experience. I wanted them to appreciate the ruins, the people and culture that surrounds this magical place. Absolutely worth every penny!

Excellent location, peaceful and beautiful

We could have stayed forever. We all (adults and children) loved it. The pools were almost ours exclusively. The grounds are meticulous. The song birds, bullfrogs and night noises were other worldly. If you like old world charm, this is it.

Jungle elegance

What a great stay at "The Lodge Chichen Itza" We arrived a little late in the evening but was still met at the gate with a notice of our intended arrival. Picked up by golf type cart including our baggage and brought to the front desk where we quickly checked in and were told about the grounds and activities. Once our room was confirmed we were taken to our bungalow and baggage was brought inside for us. Beautiful surroundings and very nice bungalow. Woke up to the birds singing in the jungle every morning! Loved it and would certainly recommend it, so much so we would do it all again. Gary & April (The Frozen Few) Fairbanks Alaska

Great Property

We stayed one night at The Lodge and loved our visit. The place is very quaint and extremely well manicured. The access to Chichen Itza through the side entrance makes this a perfect place to stay. We were planning on seeing the night show, but you need tickets in advance, even though they don't charge for them. Needless to say we couldn't get them. But The Lodge does have a nice planetarium show on the history of the Mayans which is in the middle of the property and well done - worth doing. As for the lodging, there are 3 rooms per unit - so you share a covered deck or porch, which is fine. I read that some people could hear their neighbors, but as we didn't have one we had a quiet stay. We did wake up to a tarantula in the bathroom, as you are in the middle of the jungle. We informed the staff, how were a bit shocked, but the took care of it promptly.

Mansion Living in the Jungle

Could have not been more incredibly surprised! The grounds are a manicured botanical garden, pools deliciously cool, Mural Dining Room stately, rooms comfy and the mosquito netting draping over the bed romantic rather than cloying. Enjoyed some of the best Mexican cuisine on the trip here. Go with the bungalows if you can, well worth the extra money. Afterwards, lounge by the pool and be entertained by the symphony of unique bird calls. Don’t miss the sky show in the hotel’s observatory, or the nighttime light show next door at Chitzen Itza. Explore Chitzen Itza through their private entrance, come back for a great lunch and dip in the pool, then go back for the cooler afternoon. Plus, several of the main ruins can be seen from the hotel lobby.

Explore Chichen Itza from here.

We stayed two nights in this gracious hotel surrounded by jungle vegetation and birds. Several restaurants, comfortable beds, lots of outside relaxing space, pools. A private entrance allows exploring Chichen Itza, while avoiding line-ups at the main entrance. We had an excellent guide for the ruins. The hotel itself has a worthwhile Planetarium. We both loved our stay.

Very close to Uxmal

This inexpensive hotel is 2km from the ruins of Uxmal. Simple and comfortable, it is a great deal. The staff was very nice and the rooms very good. Two other hotels a but closer are >5 times the price. Nice view of the Uxmal pyramid and the forest from the rooms

Amazing location

Hotel is very nice, rooms are large and luxurious and in beautiful grounds. But main attraction is having Chichen Itza in the back garden with a private entrance so you can beat the crowds in the morning

Beautiful yet lacks some

The surrounding are beautiful, the bungalows are very nice and clean. The main problem was the bed was terrible. It had a 6 inch valley in the middle, made for a terrible night sleep. Bungalows are a distant from the restaurant and lobby, since there are no phones in the rooms, we made arraignments to have a staff member pick us up, they did not show up, not once but twice.

Pretty terrific

We stayed for two nights right after a seven-night retreat in Tulum. Our bungalow had a definite WOW factor; walking into our cool, high-ceiling, gigantic room was a fantastic feeling after a week of minimal comforts. Tile floors, the giant, polished wood vertical blinds on the curved wall, clean, bright bathroom with excellent water pressure, a jet-tub, and a really comfortable bed made staying in this room an absolute joy. It also features a porch with a hammock, a table and two chairs with a view of the semi-private pool (our pool was for the three bungalows in our corner of the property). But the main reason I picked the Lodge at Chichen Itza was for the private entrance to Chichen Itza. We got to the line about fifteen minutes early, and a huge queue grew behind us. Getting in early actually allowed us to see the giant pyramid and the other sites before the vendors and giant busloads upon busloads of tourists crammed in. Having the space virtually to ourselves for two hours was really special and I'm so happy to have had that experience. On the not-so-great side, the food choices are limited & expensive. Breakfast is good but you have two places to choose from for your other meals. There is very little else to do, so you are forced to relax. You could spend $9 and a half hour watching the 360 film about the Mayans, but I could have lived without it.

Perfect for the ruins

This is a beautiful hotel if you stay in the lodges, the main building is noisier and smelly from bbq etc. The grounds are lovely and the 4 pools are very welcome in the heat but the smaller pools do get a lot of dead leaves etc in them. The food is very poor in the lunch buffet but breakfast is good and the a la carte restaurant is a better choice in the evening. The staff try very hard and are doing a great job. The easy access to the ruins means that a cooler and less crowded tour can be taken at 8am.

Excellent location and nice bungalows

The overall setting with extensive manicured grounds right next to Chichen Itza is beautiful and the bungalow rooms were well maintained and had a lot of character. The major benefit is the private entry post to Chichen Itza which allows easy entry and avoids the crowds at the main gate. The "Mayan Observatory" show is worth watching on the evening before going into Chichen Itza.

Beautiful bungalows in a beautiful setting. The grounds were amazing, the proximity to Chichen Itza is as advertised - right through the adjacent gate. Recommend a guided tour (Victor was fabulous) Will definitely stay here again and use it as my home base for future trips to see the ruins.

Gardens beautiful- must stay in bunglow!

Nice hotel right next to ruins! Gardens beautiful, food ok, staff with exception of reception staff great! Hotel in desperate need of updating and maintenance. Lots of huge tour groups passing through. The light show at pyramids was spectacular! Also went to informative planetarium show on the property. Get a guide and visit ruins early! By 9am bus loads of tourists arrive. Only major complaint was I paid for loft bungalow and they didn't want to give me the room I paid for. I insisted and crabby supervisor made us wait 1 hour before finally giving it to us! All else was great! This was a fabulous experience!

Beautiful park setting

Exceptionally well designed to meander through an interesting collection of identified trees. Birdwatching everywhere. The grounds are beautiful and offer a private gate to Chitzen Itza. Staff helpful, and our guide, Juan--excellent!! Restaurant was good in an ordinary way. Bungalows very comfortable, but a bit dark inside. Overall, a resort-like complex with everything available on site--stores, bar, pizza, and planetarium, but still able to maintain a great sense of privacy and a peaceful atmosphere. Greatness is just a few steps next door.

felt like Maya royalty

Loved being right on the edge of the pyramid site, with a private entrace, and in the jungle. The grounds and the pools are beautiful and the bungalow rooms and verandas are spacious and comfortable. The staff at the restaurant were friendly and gracious and the food was good. We enjoyed the planetarium show and relaxing by the pool as much as the ruins. An awesome 2 night stay, we could have easily stayed 3.

Idyllic tropical retreat

Absolute gem of a resort, perfect for an overnight stay before visiting Chichen Itza, only wish we had stayed for a day more. My husband had sustained a sports injury just before we arrived and the staff went out of their way to help, even finding a wheelchair so he could visit Chichen Itza without pain. We stayed in one of the bungalows, idyllically situated in a manicured jungle environment, beautifully equipped and decorated. We loved the evening and post Chichen Itza swim in the pool, absolutely perfect. The only thing we found a little strange about the room was the lack of a telephone to call guest services. We also ate at the restaurant and the buffet and really enjoyed the food. The lunchtime buffet was an absolute bargain and while we have seen other reviews that mention the restaurant meal as relatively expensive for Mexico we felt the price reflected the quality of food and service and were very happy with it. One note of caution and the only reason we gave 4 rather than 5 to comfort, falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle sounds idyllic but actually the jungle, or rather the peacocks we think they were, were rather loud until about 2 in the morning, so bring ear plugs or avoid mating season!

Great location, great hotel

Just spent to lovely nights at the Lodge. We stayed in one of the bungalows that had a pool. Room was outstanding. Grounds were kept up extremely well and it was directly next to the Chichen Itza historic site. The hotels restaurant and bar were extremely accommodating. The first night we arrive late just as the restaurant closed. Instead of sending us away, the hotel arranged for the meal to be served in our room. The staff were also extremely helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend the hotel for anyone visiting Chichen Itza. It allows you to spend a lovely night in the hotel and beat the crowds for tours of the historic sites.

The Lodge is extremely convenient if you are visiting Chichen Itza. The hotel's entrance into the park is a massive bonus, to avoid the hectic crowds at the main entrance. The hotel itself is fine, nothing too exciting and wifi access is impossible outside of the immediate reception area. The lunch buffet offers a wide range of options.

Good hotel. Would return.

Cool hotel right in the jungle and the base of the ruins. Good place to disconnect and just chill. They will help you arrange any excursions. Recommend getting a guide and doing the ruins at 8am to avoid crowds. Our guide was great. Service at the hotel was really good with one exception. We paid extra for a hotel room with a view of the ruins and didn't get one. They did not offer another room or discount. The room we had was big with some nice chairs on the balcony.

Beautiful surrounding but older rooms

This is a property right within the Chichen Itza park grounds. The hotel surroundings & the bungalows look fabulous in lush tropical gardens. There is a planetarium on site which has a show about the stars during the Mayan reign. However, the main building and the rooms show their age. The room fixtures are ancient with faucets/shower leaking. There is a TV with 4 channels. The linen is clean but old and faded. The a la carte food was delicious and a bit on the high side. There are lunch buffets where beverages arent included. They know you dont have any other food option without having to take a lot of trouble going out of the property. But Chichen Itza/Piste is a small town - you only have other hotel based restaurants. The staff & reception were friendly. Reception was kind enough to give us a room at 9:00am in the morning when we got there by the morning bus into Chichen Itza. All records are manual, so checkout is a bit tedious as they tick through a long checklist and tally up any restaurant expenses.

Beautiful tropical paradise

The grounds, lodges and hotel facilities were beautiful. Listening to the magnitude and variety of bird calls in the morning was magical. Buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner were pleasant. The large pool was well maintained, but the smaller pools were in disrepair. Proximity to the ruins couldn't be beat.
