The area is 5 minute walk from downtown itself. The staff were helpful and attentive with our needs. will definetly be back again.

Clean, affordable hotel!

Loved this hotel for my work trip to PEI. Especially enjoyed the networking hour and the friendly staff.

Central to downtown with easy parking. Hotel is not accessible - no elevator - and they pump a very a strong scent into all communal areas so do not recommend if you have scent allergies. Rooms also need a deep clean. Little privacy as you can hear everything from rooms next door and above and below.

Centrally located downtown Charlottetown which you can easily walk to all downtown restaurants and shops. Staff are great. Property is well maintained. Beds are a little high in height but comfortable. Breakfast was very good. Recommend

I liked how clean and updated it was. Friendly staff. Convenient location. The breakfast food selection was satisfactory. Eggs and sausage weren’t great and would recommend adding hash browns, more plain scrambled egg option and different type of sausage. Other hotels now have make you own waffle stations as well with their complimentary breakfast. Everything else was great!

Found this location on Expedia not knowing anything about Charlottetown. That being said, the room and location was perfect. Working walking distance to many, many wonderful restaurants and shopping areas. The evening happy hour was a wonderful surprise and the coffee and tea in the lobby was a welcome surprise. The ONLY minor opportunity that I wanted to mention is that a bit more variety at breakfast would be nice. Otherwise it was a perfect stay! All of the staff were welcoming and hospitable. Thank you.

We can hear all the noise coming from the bathroom in the room next door. It sounds like their shower is in our room. The noise is terrible. We can't even hear our TV. This is not acceptable.

No staff at ckeck-in. Waited 20 minutes. Room was spacious and beds were clean but bathroom and glasses (wine) were horrible.

The bed was 2 high and the room was cold. Couldn't get the heat on.

Had you ever been checked into a messy room?

Yes, we had! Arrived at the hotel around 6pm, booked 2 nights with Hotel.com a month ago. Surprised to find that the room assigned was a mess, no housekeeping was done, after dragging the luggage up to second floor (no elevator hotel). We had to walk back to the reception on the ground floor. Ringing the bell for service as before to get someone to help us. After a long wail, finally got a room in a different building. It was late we had go out for dinner. Came back to find that the vanity sink was not draining, the shower gel was empty, the room was very noisy, from next door or upstairs or construction early the morning. Even worse, we got locked out next day (cards didn’t work). The receptionists said I could have demagnetized the cards. Easy to blame someone! I had carefully put one in my jacket and another in my back pocket! So much for responsibility and accountability here I spoke to the manager at checkout. BTW, I did participate the Green program I thought it was an excellent idea: if you don’t need housekeeping in a two day or more stay, they would offer you $10 credit towards your bill which I didn’t get anything mentioned. Spending my time to do this review during our busy traveling is to help the hotel to improve the quality of the services or you could lose more customers like us.

Noisy room, people tromping up and down the stairs, and the room mini-fridhe was really noisy at night. But the staff and amenities were delightful. Excellent breakfast. Nice area, good area to walk around in with shopping and restaurants.

This hotel has wood floor joist construction. And the rooms have hard surface flooring. With these two combined construction features we could hear everything going on in the room above us (footsteps, furniture being moved around, luggage being dragged around the room). When I complained at the front desk about the noise, they told me they get numerous complaints about the noise. Our sleep was disrupted and we certainly didn't wake up feeling refreshed and ready for our day of being Charlottetown tourists. One other complaint is that the shower curtain had not been washed and it made the bathroom smell dank. Unfortunately because of these couple of issues, we will not be returning to the Hotel on Pownal. On the positive side, we did enjoy the hotel's location (proximity to entertainment, the ocean, and restaurants). Also, the hotel has bikes available for hotel guests to use - complete with locks. So if you enjoy that sort of activity, it's a bonus that you don't need to rent a bike.

Really nice hotel. Quiet, and close to everything!

The hotel was quiet and very clean; the room comfortable. An outdoor covered sitting area allowed us to spend time outside even in the rain. The breakfast buffet offered many options and was good.

My wife and I stayed at this lovely hotel between September 24-27 2024 and I can honestly say that it was nothing but fantastic. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating throughout our stay and went out of their way to assist us. When our flight was cancelled last minute and we had no place to stay for several hours they were very sympathetic to the situation and extended our rooms which we greatly appreciated! I’ve stayed at other pricier hotels in town for work before but I can honestly say that I’ve not had as great an experience as I had this week. Thank you again to the management and staff at the hotel. You have definitely gained a repeat customer with me. See you next year.

We just happened upon this hotel as the one we had booked screwed up and gave our room away. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have a complementary happy hour featuring local wines and beers. You are walking distance to downtown so you can see the beautiful city and visit all the unique shops and restaurants.

Rooms were cute and nicely done and the location is great. Breakfast was lovely. The bed was terrible- way too soft - we spent the whole night awake rolling back from the centre. Lots of reviews talking about how cute the yard is, which was true, the parking lot and front was nice. Our room had the view of the back yard which was basically a run down trap house. Graffiti on the outside, garbage everywhere. For $400 a night it was not what I was expecting - and you can’t see that anywhere from the road or google maps.

I had to wait a few minutes for front desk staff, so that I could check in. Other than that, a very enjoyable stay and friendly staff.

Price was good for being very close to down town. Walking distance to confederation center and restaurants. Walked to water front abou 10 mins.

Great location to attend show at Confederation Centre. Staff was very nice. Room was small but clean. Everything we needed for an overnight stay. Would stay here again.

The hotel is unassuming on the outside. The rooms were clean and well equipped. We were pleasantly surprised. Area around is central downtown and incredibly walkable. Free hotel parking. Would recommend.

The site was OK but the rate seemed over priced as this wwas a 3 star motel which was more expensive the a 4 1/2 star hotel in Moncton

Great location and everything in walking distance. Breakfast was good with many choices. Other guests were noisy at 7 am and we could easily hear them in our room.

Too many stairs & no elevator. Also the bathtub didn’t have a grab bar & no shower safety mat. The shower was very slippery & dangerous. Also the water in the shower was either cold or scalding even when it was set at a certain temperature.

This was our first visit to this hotel and Charlottetown. We were very happy with our room especially the balcony. This hotel is off the main street and quiet and only minutes from the downtown shopping, entertainment and dining. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Okay. There is no elevator. I was so shocked but i guess it's old property so there isn't one. Inside the room was nice and clean but oh man. Walking up stairs with all the bags were quiet a work.

the location was great, but the selection of breakfast was not great. i asked to have the checkout time extended 2 days before the departure day as i have an overnight flight. they could not let me know until the very morning (840am) and i had a 9am start tour booked. this system needs to change.

Room was lacking in many ways - not enough towels, hair dryer broken, no natural light, not clean, no counter space in bathroom….I could go on! The breakfast was minimal and not enough for all the guests. The overall experience was terrible and when we asked for a different room we were told we got the “Expedia” room so clearly an inferior room!

Staff were to the best of their ability helpful, but the manager never made an appearance to deal with a difficult customer issue. In a hospitality business (especially a hotel) this should be viewed as a significant concern where the leader of the staff is either unwilling or lacks the capability of meeting with hotel guests to find a solution.

Excellent location. Clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Breakfast had basic options available (eggs, bread/pastry options, fresh fruit and yogurt etc.) and was decent quality. Would stay again.

Pros about this property are: Reception staff were wonderful; they were helpful, accommodating and polite. Free EV charging was a bonus! Wine & beer 5-6pm was a delight. Room was very large and spacious. Good water pressure. Comfortable bed. King bed was huge! Cons are: No soundproofing so it sounded like a herd of elephants above us. Air conditioner/heat pump was really loud; probably needs a good cleaning and some WD40. I put it on in hopes of drowning out the elephants and street racing. Housekeeping didn't clean our room until after 3:30pm but did do a good job except forgetting wash cloths. Tub is very slippery but noticed a mat in closet after my last shower :-( Hot items at breakfast were horrible; overcooked frittata and sausages. Want to really like this place because location is good too as away from outdoor music but still close enough for walking. But trying to sleep just isn't good.

Room smelled like urine. Bathroom not very clean

Room wasn’t ready at the 4pm check in time. When we did get into our room - the room had an extremely strong smell of body odour. We had to ask front desk for air freshener - but no apology was received for same. The bathroom was quite dated, and a strong smell of urine was noted (maybe from the older floor heaters behind the toilet?). Room was loud from upstairs guests stomping, as well as being next to an outdoor patio. Lights were on outside all night. Beds and pillows comfortable.

Friendly staff and other guests

There is Hair( not belong to me!!) on the towel and bed sheet when we open them; spider in bathroom, toilet was with black spot in it. But the staff were super nice! Environment outside was beautiful!

I felt it was overpriced for what we got. The room and hotel felt like it could use a refresh. On the second night our sheets seemed like they were put on the bed damp. Breakfast was good and some staff very friendly but others less helpful

Location was great, right next to downtown with parking and easy walkable access to everything. Breakfast was well done (way more than continental) and the room was very clean. They did a great job of reviving this location into a pleasant stay.

Good Value, good service

Service was great, however it was a loud Hotel. Our room was near a door and it constantly opening and closing (slamming) was quite loud in our room.

When I booked the room, it showed swimming pool and hot tab in pictures, and after we checked in, we found there is no pool at all. Also, there is no elevator in this hotel, very inconvenient. The room is very small. We felt really disappointing and decided to find another hotel. We didn’t use the room at all, we opened the door have a quick look and left immediately . We spent about one hour to negotiate with the hotel, but they refused to refund us. We had to leave for another hotel, cause it was getting late and our baby was fussy. So we actually didn’t sleep in this room, but they still charge us $300. We request a full refund! The good review of this hotel is not honest, really misleading!

Okay Stay

Easy check in with friendly staff. Room was located in the Conference Centre which unfortunately had a strange smell as soon as you walked through the door. Our room was compact but well furnished. The hotel overall seemed a bit tired and in need of some upkeep. It was in a convenient location with most of Charlottetown's amenities in easy walking distance. Would we stay again? I think we would consider elsewhere.
