Excellent location, friendly staff and great for friendly gatherings!
I had a wonderful stay! The friendly and attentive staff made me feel welcome from the start. The room was cozy and well-designed, and I especially appreciated the high-quality toiletries in the bathroom. The location was perfect, close to everything I needed. Highly recommend this hotel for its comfort, service, and convenience!
Great place to stay.
Check in was quick. Room was very clean, bed comfortable, food at the restaurant was very good. Staff was friendly. Location was great. Close to the train station and trolleys, restaurants and others sights to see. I would stay here again.
Amazing
Almost everything is okay, but my room does have a refrigerator.
It was beautiful.
Clean and comfortable in a convenient location
The hotel gave $35 voucher for the restaurant/bar at the hotel.
.
What a beautiful hotel with excellent amenities and friendly, courteous staff. We were upgraded from Queen (which already looked very luxurious) to a King suite in the basement, and part of our amenities fee was comped for the move to basement (which some people don't like as much, but we didn't mind, as there was still plenty of light from ground level windows and warmth). The staff are all very friendly, knowledgeable, and competent. The decor is a gorgeous art deco dream. The location is super convenient (15 min walk to Gas Lamp district, 15 min bus ride to Balboa Park) and along several bus routes. Be warned: the pool is not actually on the premises; need to walk about 10 min. Hotel parking is valet-only and $56/day but there are several other self-parking lots nearby.
Excellent hotel
I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It’s gorgeous, has different lounging areas, convenient breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. You have everything you need in the hotel. It’s walkable from transportation, restaurants, cafes, stores. It’s close to great parts of SD like the Zoo, Balboa Park, Little Italy. Definitely recommend staying here!
It’s nice. Rooms are small, facilities are sometimes not working. No microwave or fridge unless you ask. Restaurant and bar are the best. Staff are nice.
Coffee was cold at bar and shades didn’t work in room
The Guild Hotel is a spectacular place to stay! From the amazing service, the beautiful decor and the delicious breakfast and coffee bar! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to come back again in the future!
Was charged an additional $200 for a deep clean after checkout. Called the hotel for an explanation, and they weren’t able to provide one. The rooms are musty and dated. The only positive was the friendly check-in staff.
The rooms are small, there’s no fridge or microwave unless you ask for them, someone would deliver them to your room. Some things in the rooms stopped working but are not fixed. But the staff and food make the experience tolerable, we even extended the stay for a few more days.
Awesome location and excellent staff. Property very clean and modern as well as awesome Santal 33 products!
Nice boutique property in the heart of downtown San Diego. My room was not spacious, but large enough for one person. It's an historic hotel with a very modern vibe. I would definitely stay here again.
The soap and shampoo wow the bathroom 😍
Beautiful quaint hotel. Staff was great! Thank you all!
My stay was average, clean, older building. Rooms were small but had everything I needed, there was a lot of noise in the middle of the night with neighbors.
Absolutely loved this hotel! As a frequent traveler, this hotel is top ranked. Just the cutest details.
Love the aesthetics and modern vintage vibes! Please do not change. I've visited twice and I love how consistent everything is.
Two of the staff at front desk were helpful. The rest were unconcerned and seemed bothered when approached, Room facing city was very noisy. Otherwise, liked the hotel and the walkability
Single middle-aged woman traveling along and felt safe. Great location. Walkable to marina, Little Italy, and so much more. Very friendly staff.
One downside.
Very beautiful and quaint boutique hotel. Water in room, nice amenities in the bathroom. View of the courtyard from our room. Lovely garden in back. Coffee in lobby always a plus.Very tasty breakfast. Downside room was very small for two people. No closet to hang anything, had to place suitcases on floor. There was a very loud party at the bar on check in too!
:)
Love the Bar/restaurant. Great liquor selection
Great staff, pet friendly
Friendliest staff, super about pets with no insane hidden pet fees. The courtyard was perfect for having breakfast. Blue bottle coffee is just a few blocks away with some fire coffee and there’s a bruegar’s bagels across the street. If you head north 3 blocks and go left, theres a little grass patch between two trees on your right for those with picky dogs unaccustomed to a full blown urban life.
Loved the decor of this hotel! Staff was all very friendly and helpful.
B
Beautiful hotel that is close to all activities downtown and near the train and trolly station for those needing public transportation. It is close to all downtown districts and near the water. Very nice place. I would recommend this hotel.
Love The Guild!
Our 2nd visit here. Professional staff. Great location. Restaurant is excellent!
The area is clean and safe. Convenient parking structure. Very clean and beautiful property.
Helpful staff. Clean and cozy
Food and bar were amazing, staff super friendly, and my cozy king was perfect. Very comfortable
TINY room, no parking on premise, noisy rooms(near hvac), no natural light. We moved to a room in the 2nd floor from 4, due to a strange odor. It is probably the pet friendly room. Interesting decor, but I feel it was not worth the cost.
Very courteous management at check in, excellent food, on the smaller size but very convenient and enjoyable stay
The staff is exceptional!!!
Nice and clean. Restaurant has a nice outdoorsy vibe
Great location near Santa Fe Station. Located close to Little Italy and Gaslamp and Embarcadero. Lots of food options close by. Room was quiet and clean and bed was comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.
Love The Guild
Wish a great place. The staff, location amenities, the decor and vibes was amazing.
The guild was such a beautiful hotel. The ambiance of the hotel lobby was super exquisite. The employees were also very kind and helpful. They made sure our stay was stress free and were helpful in every way imaginable. We really enjoyed our stay here. I would love to stay at the guild again during my next trip to downtown San Diego.
Love my stay
A beautiful hotel in a historic building. Lovely piece of history.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Guild. Comfortable beds, very clean rooms with nice bathroom products. The quality of service was beyond what we’re used to. Matthew at the front was helpful and gave us great San Diego recommendations. And Luc in the cafe was exceptionally kind and attentive. We will definitely stay here again.
Beautiful historic modern hotel, clean rooms, great amenities, felt safe and conveniently located in Downtown.
Rosie at the Concierge was super friendly. Offered us water immediately when we were checking in, and an upper floor (6th) for my group of 6 people in 3 different rooms. Wanted to be upgraded to larger rooms as i had Expedia VIP Platinum status but that did not happen, so, it was disappointing. But the $35 property fee gave many access to other amenities as well as a daily food reimbursement. Rooms were in good order and the simple decorations were comfortable. Overall A- and will stay there again. Downtown parking was $15 overnight at a parking lot on Columbia. Valet was $56, and the Marriott lot was $35.
Tuong N. Was absolutely incredible! I was not a fan of my initial room which was already an upgraded room but I didn’t like the ground floor. It was nearly full occupancy and he made another room on a higher floor work! My stay was peaceful and delightful. Food was great! Excellent coffee. All around amazing and I’m back next week!
Wonderful!
Lovely hotel in a great location in San Diego. The only thing missing is a pool.
Tiny but nice
They need tv’s in the bar area. Rooms are nice but tiny.
The rooms were small but very well appointed. Clara who checked us in was extremely helpful and her attitude was refreshing.
Very clean and classy place to stay. It felt more like home than a hotel!!
all good
This hotel was an adorable trendy find right downtown. The rooms had lots of natural light and were very chic. The hotel lobby restaurant and outside patio are fabulous. The staff is very nice and generous. I can’t stop talking about this hotel!
The hotel staff was amazing and the room was beautiful and clean.
Loved the design and architecture…. And toiletries by le labo!
The Guild was a great hotel and I am glad we picked it. It has a great atmosphere, within walking distance to everything, and the rooms were up to date and clean
Like: location, cleanliness, quality of breakfast, gym, daily free water, staff, hotel exterior and interior Dislike: $35 daily charge for food and no closet.
Nice
It was a lovely property and I really like the room.
I would stay here again if I go back to San Diego. pleasant experience!
clean
Great overall
Definitely recommend to couples or single travelers…rooms are small but the storage design was attractive. Food at restaurant also very good!!
The Guild is a beautiful hotel conveniently located. The staff is professional and personable. We had a minor issue with our thermostat which was quickly resolved. I would definitely come back!
very nice!
Great location
I recently stayed at this hotel and had a generally positive experience. The building and location are perfect, with everything we needed close by. The staff were exceptionally friendly and provided top-notch hospitality, making us feel welcome and well taken care of. The bar was also a great spot—stylish and the perfect place to relax. However, there was a small downside to our stay. Despite the room being clean and cozy, the pillows had an unpleasant smell. It wasn't due to a lack of cleanliness, but perhaps some moisture or other issue. We ended up sleeping without pillows, which wasn't ideal. This is something that could be improved for future guests. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would consider returning. Thank you to the hotel team for their hospitality
I like the lobby and dining area. The staff are friendly and helpful. I just didn’t like much of my room ,it’s not what I expected, too small and old, not roomy enough.
The staff was so helpful and offered ideas for us. Very accommodating
The staff greets you at the door and escorts you to a desk with chairs for check in. Really nice way to arrive. Room was large, stylish and immaculate. We received a credit and discount for dining in house, which we really enjoyed. One block to the trolley and Amtrak station. Great experience in downtown San Diego!
What a beautiful property! Great location and it was easy to park. The staff was polite and helpful. The hotel was filled with the most beautiful smells and art. I couldn’t get over the toiletries provided. Two words come to mind sustainability and luxury.
Great experience!
Nice safe place to stay in the center of the city
Great location, cute hotel. Small rooms.
This property was beautiful and the staff was super nice and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again if I came back to San Diego
The Guild is a pretty property and we got a great deal through hotels.com for a 2-night midweek stay. We stayed in a “cozy” room which was large enough for us but has only a couple of armchairs for a sitting area. No desk or workspace. We had breakfast at the hotel using the $35/night food and beverage credit. The inner courtyard was a nice place to enjoy the cool mornings. The downtown location was great, expect some street noise if your room faces Broadway but not bad. We would come again!
i stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, everything was ok, room was beautiful. i did not like how you have to park in a parking garage out and around the corner from the hotel, and you pay everytime you come and go. its a bit unsafe at night or early morning not being from there, i had to leave around 5am and had to wait for someone to open the gate to the garage.... other than that beautiful hotel, nice area.
Customer service was great. Most of all the waitresses at the restaurant were amazing, very nice & friendly
Compact room but clean and well equipped. Nice courtyard for drinks/food
I love this hotel. The restaurant and bar are great but rarely crowded. My only complaint is that the bar closes pretty early.
Just OK, and neighborhood not the best.
Neighborhood was a little sketchy in the afternoon and evening. There were many homeless people living nearby and some made me very uncomfortable when walking in the late afternoon and early evening. Also the hotel service was adequate, however I requested a mini fridge and a couple other amenities that were ‘available upon request’ that were not fulfilled. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but hence the 3 star rating. Also a few other nice to haves were not available such as room service. The restaurant didn’t have a direct line so had to go order in person for takeaway. Overall the hotel was just ok. I wouldn’t stay there again.
Everything was great!
San Diego was nice and so what this boutique hotel I liked it for a couple days stay anymore than a couple days would have been overkill
The bed is amazing!
Great
Walking into our room, we were pretty surprised by how small, but that’s fine bc we booked the “cozy” king. But I was hoping to open the blinds to open up the space. And they were all broken. They have some kind of automated switch and they sent someone to fix who was able to roll up one of them and the other ones either didn’t go up or went up half way. It just was so disappointing bc we were only there one night and it felt like a dark dungeon. Also we paid $56 for Valet and they left our car outside on the street, same place we left it, overnight :(
My partner and I planned a vacation together just to stay in The guild hotel, we had a great stay the first time and were excited to come back. However our second trip was a disaster. The guild asked us for any accommodations that they could make for us before we arrived and we asked for an extra set of pillows and a sound Machine in our room again because it gets noisy in the hallway. We get to our hotel and the accommodations weren’t there, we went down to the front desk and asked if they could bring them while we go out for lunch. We noticed that night there were multiple stains covering the comforter that were not from us, we called the front desk and asked for them to bring us new linen and the sound machine and they never brought it. The next day after a long day out we figured they’d bring new sheets since we came back in the late afternoon and came back to the (poop and red something stain STILL on our bed) the housekeeping finally came at the end of the day and we were undressed and asked if they could come in about 10 minutes when it was appropriate the housekeeper laughed in our face and said “we won’t be here then” and walked away Over our 2 night stay we had to ask over FIVE times at the lobby and on the phone to get our stain free bed sheets and sound machine. We were told they would be on it and bring them over…. 5 separate times, finally at 11:30 pm we asked a 6th time and were finally given new sheets. We were incredibly disappointed in our stay, we planned
Nice spot. Close to everything you’d want.
This is an old building (literally 100 years old) so expect some "funkiness" and "character" in your hotel room, and the space in general. It has a very nice bar/restaurant area, with an attentive staff. The room itself was fine, though the carpet perhaps should be replaced (or whatever needs to be done to get that "vacuum burnt" smell out of it). Also, remember that this boutique hotels often don't have a table/chair for you to do work (e.g., on your laptop), even if there is space in the room -- that's not their thing. It was nice to have free coffee/tee in the morning, and then water from lunch on, but they literally don't fill up the water more than once a day, so if you try get some towards dinner time, you are likely out of luck. Overall, a nice property.
Clean, modern and quite location
Room was small but clean and modern. Food at hotel was great, staff was helpful and friendly. Elevator is super slow. I loved that it was in the busiest area. Self parking at a garage was around the corner. It was great for us and I would totally recommend.
Very nice. Clean and close to a lot.
Property location was awesome! I loved the old time decor.
Overall, is way different than the pictures they post, room is too tiny
The hotel is beautiful, clean, new and very nice staff, I love the bar and drinks, the le labo amenities. Definitely recommend staying here
Really nice hotel with great staff. Pros: really convenient, smells great thanks to the nice shampoo, etc., comfortable bed. Cons: very little space for toiletries in the bathroom, on a noisy street (noisy little motorcycles, so maybe that is ubiquitous??). Would be better for a romantic getaway than a family vacation.

Great place to stay being near everything
