Georgian is a short ride from the airport. Our room was clean and bright. Like many hotels it is old but kept nice and clean. Mr Lin was very kind and helpful. We arrived late and at the wrong address and he quickly got us squared away and safely settled.
AVOID AVOID DO NOT BOOK HERE!!!!!!!
The place was not easy to find and when we arrived it looked like an abandoned building. The so called car park was just a driveway and there were about 5 cars there that at least 3 of them looked like they hadn’t been moved for months if not longer. They were all bumped and the bumpers all taped up with duck tape. We were very concerned for our car. The carpet on the stairs, leading us to our room, were ducked taped and was a major safety hazard. We were showed to our room and brothel was the first thing that came to mind. All the carpets were miss mash and the wooden flooring was all scratched. None of the windows locked there was a musty old smell in the whole room. There was a single bed in the sitting room and the frame (if you can call it that) was dirty and looked very unsafe a prisoner in jail would have a better bed!!!! The second room had a double bed but there were, what looked like, blood stains and and other unidentified stains all over the carpet. One of the drawers, in the wardrobe had someone’s clothes in it. The kitchen was disgusting and the cooker top filthy. There were stairs down the the bathroom and another bedroom (the brothel room we called it) there were stains on the walls and the curtains were disgustingly filthy. The bathroom was in disrepair the blind on the window did not go all the way down as it had been cut and for some reason it was at the height of your hips so if you did have a shower your lower area would be on display to anyone looking
Was ok for a weekend break would stay again
I didn’t go as the reviews were terrible and I don’t keep well. Your advertising of the place is inaccurate as there is no breakfast on offer . I went to see it and there was know one there . I feel I should get
Got upgraded into a suite in an off site location due to utility problem at main venue and this meant we lost out on breakfast apparently, which considering we were cycling to Inverness the next day was a bit of a blow.
There was no one there when I arrived - 7.15 on a Friday evening although I had been warned about this and given instructions in how to let myself in. The check out time was 10am! and at 9.45 a member of staff tried coming into my room as I was on the toilet with the bathroom door open - it was just me in the room.
Probably the worst hotel I have stayed in (& that includes some dreadful ones in London). I was bumped from my booking for a double en-suite and found myself in a single in the basement. And I did mean “found myself” as only contact I had with hotel was with owner on phone when I arrived - no sign of any staff throughout stay - who provided directions and an explanation of sorts. Filthy carpets; musty smell; too cramped for proverbial cat; basic shutters on window - no curtains; no fixtures in shower ‘room’ beyond basin, shower and loo - although tap was only just hanging onto basin; tv had no working channels - despite being digital; furniture wonky and drawers not great; door handle loose with missing screws; radiator filthy; either bright ceiling light or dim bedside lamp; and to top it all I discovered kettle wasn’t working - probably to stop me using boiling water to sterilise the carpets or surfaces! I went out and bought an air freshener and tried to stay out as long as I could as unfortunately there was nothing else available last minute nearby - if there had been I would have been out of there. The ONLY positive was its location as the venue for my concert was across the road and the Botanic Gardens were across the junction. I will not be using that hotel again and cannot recommend it to anyone.
Clean and tidy but overall condition of the property not very good eg shower tray filled up and nearly flooded the bathroom, took 10 minutes to drain, shutters wouldn't stay closed properly so light coming into the room, curtains only covered half the window, bed felt uneven and rough. Small things but added together made the room quite frustrating.
View and location excellent Certain aspects really bad I phoned up Expedia on occasions and none of the people I spoke to took me seriously I’ve got back to me
Appears to be a poorly maintained rooming house. Windows dont fit with not sash cords. SHower doesnt drain. The man left in charge tries hard and is pleasant.
booked room only as it had parking but parking extra, no real staff around, room a bit tired needed refurbished, hostel like for the money
Avoid at all costs
I travelled to Glasgow for a concert with my 9 year old Nephew and 60 year old Mother. We arrived at the hotel and after ringing the doorbell a young man let us in, along with another group. He told us that we had been given an 'upgrade' and that we would 'like it very much'. He gave us an address to go to, which when we got there, it was like a scene from a horror film. An eerily quiet large house converted into individual flats / rooms. Nobody was there to greet us and after looking around for 10 minutes we travelled back to the hotel. We rang the doorbell a number of times but nobody answered. With time getting on we made other arrangements. An hour or so later we had a phone call from the woman who owned the room we had been sent to, who was very apologetic when we explained what had happened and told us to cancel the booking. Due to all of this we missed the start of the concert which we'd travelled 3 hours to see. Terrible.
One hand towel provided for two people. Tea/coffee making facilities but no mugs. Two single beds pushed together with one higher than the other. Uncomfortable mattress. Not good value for money.
No Tv in the room. No food available. Not given coffee. Unable to open the windows properly due to their poor state. Window shutter in bathroom was near falling off.
shocking standard
I'm surprised Hotels.com have allowed this standard on their website the hotel room especially the bathroom was of a extremely poor and run down state and not fit to use. very disappointing for the price i paid.
The hotel has definitely seen better days but it was clean, in a great location and the guy that seemed to be running the place on his own was very friendly and helpful
Its a very old building perfectly located for tourists. The only amenity is a coffee pot. It's clean, the water is hot, and the beds are comfortable. There are minor repair issues, but you'll survive. Loved it!
Very poor hotel. It's worth looking for another.
The hotel is a bit "scruffy" and could do with the rooms being cleaned and decorated. Especially the bathroom needed attention. There was no hairdryer even though that was in the details. The kettle was on the bedside table but the socket below it was faulty. One bedside lamp wasn't plugged in because the flex wasn't long enough! The space between the bed and wall was almost too narrow to squeeze through. No double glazing so the traffic noise was awful, especially at night. Couldn't find the TV remote but it was under the bed. One bedside table had a drawer which fell apart then opened. All the furniture, including bed and wardrobe was tatty. For £150 a night i feel ripped off.
The young man who greeted us was wonderful. (His name begins with O). If it wasn't for him I would have gone ballistic but he had been left to look after a disaster of a place. I thought it unfair to express our serious dismay to him and we were staying one night only. Perhaps other rooms are OK, But room 10 is a disgrace. and at £104 a night, outrageously so. Never, Never again.
The property was fine — great location — but check-in was very confusing.
An absolutely appalling place yo stay. We knew it was dated by the website vut we qere deaperate as nowhere else was available. In real life we were faced with broken shower, stained carpet, soiled chair which i am sure if you were brave enought to sit on would have collapsed.mould in showers, marks on headboard, uncomfortable beds which shoukd have been disposed of years ago ali g with the flimsy pillowss and paperthin duvets i could go on but you gt the picture this is the worse olace i have ever stayed in in my life! If this is yiur onlh option stay at home or book yourself a apot on a park bench it will be more desirable..if i had travelled by car i would have left like another faniky dod that couldnt face anothr night in this hell hole. The place itself is in a great location spend some money on it and stop being greedy. I would hate to include this venue on any website associated with yourself and it is just not up to standard you would expect of a half decent location
It was cheap, but the quality was not really great. It has a flat TV but the rest of the property needs an upgrade
The staff were great and helpful. The location was perfect. The room was like a scary movie with mold and stains everywhere.
Clean and comfortable bed, but the bathroom not so great, in need of a repair. A bit confusing as to what room we were given as there was no information at the desk.
No free parking
The hotel was clean & in a convenient place to get to work.the downside it said free parking which was 1 of the reasons I booked but when I checked in they charged me £15 for parking for the 3 nights I stayed.i showed them my hotel confirmation which clearly stated free parking but still charged me for it.the private carpark they have is in great need of refurbishment no tarmac just lumps of rubble lucky I never got a flat tyre.needless to say I will not be using this place again have 2 wait & see if Hotels.com will refund me for the parking because of the false advertising & owners greed.
Good location, that’s it.
Lovely chap on reception, very helpful. Curtain hanging off the rail which I fixed for them. Mound of cut hair on the floor in bathroom and around the sink. Looked like a beard trimming...I hope! Also a pill left beside the bed on the table. Very odd. Don’t think had just been cleaned that day or not at all. However, comfortable bed. I did keep my tights on as was suspicious of the black specks in the bed.
This let us leave our baggage for over 8 hours after checkout. But it bothered the bathroom door did not move smooth. Also, bathroom floor was wood so I had to wipe water from shower tap
Do Not Stay Here. Pictures are very Misleading
This is not a place people should even consider. The reception process is poor, the rooms are disgraceful and the hotel has a rancid smell about it. We requested a change of room due to dirty, unsafe furniture and bed as well as rotting window-frame making it a very noisy place. The next room was marginally better but unsurprisingly they allocated the dangerous bed to another couple we spoke to and the bed had collapsed! I would not call this a hotel or guest house, it is more akin to a cheap rundown hostel. Had we not had very busy and tight schedule we would have been in another hotel, the worst £160 we have ever spent. We met other guests who also stated the place was mingin and were going home to shower!! DO not stay here and ignore all the pictures on the websites. If Hotel.com were honourable, they would remove this hotel from their site. A refund would also be a fitting response!
Disappointed
Good communication with elizabeth, however the cottage was not what we expected, it requires desperate need of updating, lick of paint etc, there was no room to manouve with all the furniture in one room aswell as a small single bed, I didn't expect to see a used bar of soap left on the bathroom sink for us time use, and upon arrival was no towels and Elizabeth asked if we needed any and where we would like them from. I would expect these to be waiting on our arrival . I was quite disappointed as what I thought I'd booked showing pictures of the hotel guest house was not what we got and unable to see any pictures of the cottage prior to our visit. It's a shame as the cottage could be made superb
Great Service
Great location next to the Botanical Gardens. A short walk from Ashton Lane, good eats around. Right across from a Loop & Scoop. Bus stations all around. Service was excellent. Host went out of the way to make sure our stay was great. Space needs a bit of touch-up. But otherwise value meets.
Absolutely grim!
Truly awful place. The room was nothing like the pictures. Walls and carpets covered in various stains, dust on skirting boards, bed had no headboard (just cushions rammed into the space where it should be), there was hair in the bed and the wardrobe door looked like it had been kicked in. Absolutely disgusting, we ended up not staying - booked ourselves into Apex for £15 less and a much better experience. Lost the night but rather that than stay there!
Average enough guest house. Obviously it was just looked after by the youngish guy who checked us in and not the owners. Phoned and confirmed I could check in at 12, I arrived at 1230 and got told check was not until 4pm and to come back later by the same you guy who had obviously just got up. Breakfast was a shambles not enough bowls or cutlery and what was available was all random shapes and sizes and nothing matched
Great place to stay
Amazing stay here, the manager who had injured her back couldn’t have been more accommodating, even sorting out a booking issue, caused by me not her.
Hotel by Byers Road Hillhead.
Dreadful hotel, amazing that it still has licence. Needs total renovation.
I would go so far as to say this place is a health hazard. There is mold on the ceiling of the bathroom in at least one room (I asked to be moved), the carpets are very old and have stains all over them, and there wasn't even proper flooring in one of the bathrooms of the 3 rooms I saw (it was a piece of rough-cut vinyl thrown on top of an old tile floor). The management is completely absent, and I think it is safe to say they do not care at all about the conditions of this guesthouse. The staff is barley present and my room was not serviced once in my 4 nights there. I have stayed in many similarly priced accommodations throughout Europe and this may be the worst.
Comfortable but property needs attention.
A tiny room, bed was comfortable but very little room for luggage or to work. The toilet seat and towel rail were broken when I checked in and despite reporting it on the first day, remain unrepaired as I leave. Close to transport and other amenities, would be good if a little more care was taken of the property.
Shabby
This guest house is nothing like the pictures portray do not be deceived. It is shabby dirty and run down . There is no customer service and the breakfast is poor. There were foreign guests staying at the same time and I was embarrassed at the hospitality they received.
Filthy. Rubbish at side of bed. No toilet paper.
No cleanliness. Breakfast all gone no coffee had to ask for fresh milk. No toilet paper in mouldy bathroom. Mould on walls. Broken tap. Dirty carpet. Room in basement. Awful place. Vacuum cleaners left in guest areas. A Dump!
Nightmare hotel
Dirty room. No tea or coffee in room. No cooked breakfast. Sower milk. Stale bread. Car park, car blocked in for over an hour. We booked three rooms. All bad.
Quiet area, safe, ample car park
We arrived late, personnel was very helpful, the room was tidy and the facilities were good.
Cheap hotel, good location but tired rooms
Great location, only a short walk into the main part. You can see the botanical gardens from the room which is well worth a visit. After reading a lot of reviews on other hotel booking websites we were slightly horrified about what we were going into. However, we'd paid upfront and there's no option of a refund so we went prepared. We took our own towels and bedding as well as cleaning products. The staff were great, accommodating our late arrival and talking us through how to get to the car park around the backstreet. The car park is just really a yard which can just about squeeze 5 cars in. There's evidence both sides of the wall where people have done damage to there car as well as a meteor sized pot hole in the centre of the yard. We were cheerfully informed this too had damaged cars previously. The entrance is down a very narrow cobbled street which makes swinging your car in or reversing, which I ended up having to do, quite tricky. So "parking available" is a stretch. On entering the room, which is really quite a stunning space, we were met with an odd array of furniture (with handles missing) but a reasonably comfortable bed. Both bathroom and bedroom have beautiful high ceilings and huge windows. They really could be quite beautiful if decorated properly. The bathroom suit was very old and tired with enamel flaking away in the bottom of the tub. The shower was hot and reliable and the toilet seat was properly attached, so no issues there. But all needed a good clean.
We would not recommend this hotel unless nothing else available as it was in a great location for SSE this hotel is very rundown and the owners where very pushy
The only person I saw was the lady who let me into the building when I first arrived and she was very kind and informative. I saw no one else, no one cleaned my room, made up my bed, replenished tea bags etc. Also the toilet would not flush unless you pushed the lever 3-4 times. Nothing was done, cleaned or replenished and I was there for 3 days. Also, and worse, was the breakfasts. For the first breakfast there was plenty of cereal, choice of bread for toasting, yogurts, tea, milk, juice etc. but as the days moved on, none of those was replenished after people ate them. On my last morning, all there was to eat was old cornflakes (no longer crispy) and a couple of slices of white bread ( with no sign of butter or jam etc), no yogurt, no juice, old milk and the urn for hot water for tea wasn't even switched on. There was no way to figure out how to put it on and the other two guests already in the dining room- 2 gentlemen from Italy- went to boil water in the kettle in their bedroom so we could all have a cup of tea. I definitely would not recommend this place and I even feel there should be compensation for the really bad service.
Good budget option in great west end location
Handy to have parking. Didn't see anybody during my stay but that was fine, was contacted by text and given clear instructions on how to gain access. Room perfectly fine but quite noisy with banging fire doors through the night. Decent choice of breakfast and nice breakfast room (self service). Good budget option in great west end location.
Handy Location
Owner & staff pretty much keep out of your way, but the welcome was friendly. Clean & comfy room, good TV & wifi
Friendly staff but in need of refurbishing
Friendly staff. Room was clean but needed updating . Holes in the wall were old lights took out. Bath was scratched and old.
The location was spot on nice area.
Alex was so friendly and helpful. Location cannot be beaten.
Hotel seen better days. Under new ownership so maybe some re-furb planned
It’s a place to lay your head for the night. Nothing more, nothing less. Parking is awkward from a back street. Owner is pleasant but it is what it is. A bed for the night.
