Great place to stay while in Christchurch! Staff is friendly and very responsive. Accidentally left an item in the room - got in touch with the hotel and they got everything lined up for me to get it picked up and followed up multiple times to make sure everything was good. The rooms are clean, well maintained, and the hotel is conveniently located close to the Riverside Market, and other attractions.

Lovely property close to the central business district and Hagley Park.

I only had one night at The George, however, I was very pleased with everything. The location is great and a pleasant stroll to the shops, botanical gardens etc. a nice touch was the heated bathroom floor and towel rails which were switched on. I had dinner at Bistro 50 where the food and wine were excellent. Isla, the waitress was just lovely. Matt on reception also excellent

clogged sink. no privacy bathroom. no water pressure. paper thin walls, can hear loud talking all day. bad check-in.

Lovely room . It was quiet, clean and the concierge gentleman, Matt, was most helpful suggesting a mural walk and giving us other suggestions as to where to go.

Fabulous stay

The best time ever. We got excellent service and the staff were amazing, went out of their way to help with everything.

Excellent stay with friendly and helpful staff in this boutique luxury hotel. We were welcomed with chocolates and a gift bear, “George.” The lobby was very welcoming with multiple seating areas. There were complimentary apples in baskets on the different floors. There is a reading library and an outdoor garden, as well. Our room was very well appointed and comfortable. We could not hear our neighbors. The restaurant was excellent. The food was well prepared. We would gladly eat there again. The park with botanical gardens is right across the street.

The staff could not do enough to ensure you had an amazing stay. Coupled with the beautifully appointed room, I couldn’t have been happier.

The George was Outstanding

The George is an outstanding hotel. The service was amazing. The bistro and bar were very good. The room was very comfortable and modern. The location is right next to the Avon River and park and is a perfect place to stay at in Christchurch if you want to walk to the main attractions.

After spending 3 weeks touring New Zealand in a motorhome we dropped it off and headed to the George Hotel. It seemed like heaven,large room,very comfortable bed and we were met by friendly helpful staff. The following day we had to get to the airport but the roads were closed because of the marathon going past the hotel,they offered to help with bags to a place that the taxi could pick us up. Lovely little gingerbread bears and chocolates left in room on return from our meal. If we are ever in Christchuch again would definitely return.

Last minute change in hotel due to flight delay. The hotel was perfect for getting over the jet lag.

Amazing staff, genuine welcome i haven’t experienced for a long time.

Highly recommend this hotel, it was five star but not stuffy. We had a suite, very spacious, bedding real comfortable. Park across the street and you are within walking distance to the tram and restaurants. The bar and restaurant a little dated but very comfortable and staff is great!

Extraordinarily comfortable hotel

Extraordinarily comfortable and relaxing three nights in the centre of Christchurch. Food was excellent in the hotel but we were close enough to other fine restaurants and cafes that we could easily walk to them too. Very easy to get to and from the airport.

Warm and welcoming visit

A simple one day stop over in Christchurch. The reception was welcoming and our room was very comfortable (it was right beside the lift so have asked to be moved when we come back for our next visit). The breakfast was expensive so we chose the continental.

A beautiful property with a great restaurant. The bathroom had heated towel rack and floors to kept things cozy. Branded chocolates on the bedside tables and a Teddy Bear to spoil the guest.

This is an amazingly well run boutique hotel in a perfect Christchurch location. Outstanding service and well equipped, comfortable rooms. The only slight Issue was the low shower pressure.

Lovely stay!

Comfortable room, nice furnishings, shame it looked on to the car park, but they do have other more expensive rooms which offer a view. Good location and overall happy with our stay. They also make a great coffee!

Modern, luxurious room. Lovely little touches like the 'turndown service'. Just a shame the room we were in had a little window and we were looking out at framework on the roof.

Comfortableand clean

We were greeted very warmly and the staff are really outstanding. The room was on the ground floor and although quiet there was no view. We probably would have preferred a higher level. The room was comfortable with all the amenities we needed and clean.

Welcoming sraff, nice spacious room which was very quiet and comfortable. Best down pillows we have ever had in a hotel too.

Everything was great. Had not stayed at The George before but certainly will again, in preference to the mid-city chain hotels.

The hotel decor is a little tired, the staff are excellent but the dinner menu is traditional and unexciting. The meals are average and not up to scratch for a hotel that markets Itself as a luxury boutique small hotel.

Wonderful service. Very comfy bed. Breakfast buffet lacked fresh fruit, it was out initially, was taken away when it got low and never returned. Wish bathroom door was more traditional and closed completely- more soundproof

Free overnight parking! We walked almost everywhere, close to the park and Botanical Gardens.
