We loved our stay here. The only negatives was the bed was not to our liking ( it was a little hard compared to what we like) and the toilet was a little difficult to use (too close to one wall). Having said that, we can’t fault the service or the breakfast, the hosts are 1st class! And not having a tv meant we got to talk to people for a change!
After 2 nights staying close in to the CBD, it was delightful to experience the restful, peace and quiet of The Ferry Bed and Breakfast. Definitely out of the way, but also only a 5 to 10 minute drive to Frankton or the airport. We found a few reasonable places to eat in Frankton, buy saying that would have preferred to eat in Queenstown itself. The building, room, garden and hosts were impeccable. Loved it all. Was so surprised to come for breakfast and find a beautifully laid out table and a small menu of breakfast options, all deliciously prepared. And we enjoyed Mitzi's treats and both host's hospitality and friendliness. A very comfy bed, great shower and everything finished off to a high standard in keeping with the history of the building. Highly recommended.
The Ferry BNB hosts are wonderful. Every possible detail has been thought out and implemented by these seasoned professionals. The property is so comfortable and cozy you just want to linger. Mitzi makes wonderful cook-to-order breakfasts with daily home made bread and an array of cereals, juices, home made yoghurt and compote and juices. Dan was quick to offer practical advise on parking, restaurants and traffic navigation. The location is in a calm peaceful area just a short drive from town. We've stayed at many BNBs throughout the world, and the historic Ferry Inn is world class. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful time here. Dan and Mitzi are lovely people and amazing hosts. We absolutely loved everything about this property. Dan and Mitzi’s home cooked breakfast is definitely recommended Would love to come back again.
Beautiful and quiet B&B. The property is well presented and the owners very friendly and welcoming. Use of Lounge, kitchen and washing facilities. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. A great option when visiting Queenstown and area.
Absolutely amazing!
Best stay of our trip. Lovely couple, lovely homemade breakfast, lovely room! The heated blanket in the bed and heated towel rack were amazing. The helpfulness during marathon week and places to eat and park really made our week in Queenstown a dream. Would definitely return.
Everything about this B&B is amazing. Clean, attention to detail, friendly, amazing breakfast, beautiful location, comfortable beds, and wonderful hosts. We highly recommend this place and would stay here again in an instant.
Unique location
A quiet haven away from the hustle and bustle of Queenstown. Excellent firendly and knowledgeable hosts.
This is one of the best properties we have stayed at and we have travelled a lot. It was like a home from home with plenty of space and furnished to the highest of levels. The home cooked breakfasts were magnificent using only the highest quality ingredients and everything was either home made or locally sourced. Dan and Mitzi were fantastic hosts and were a fountain of knowledge about the local area. If you are visiting Queenstown and you want want to experience luxury at an affordable price then this is the place to stay
This is an absolutely lovely place to stay. The host and hostess are amazing. The breakfasts were fabulous. We will be staying here again.
What amazing property. Dan & Mitzi Were amazing hosts Everything about our stay far exceeded our expectations. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the beds very comfortable and the towels were so soft and fluffy the bathrooms are very well designed and elegant. Breakfast was amazing and the guinea pigs and chicks were adorable. The location was perfect, so quiet.
Not to be missed
Mitzi & Dan are consummate hosts and have left no detail to chance - everything about their place has been thoroughly thought through and is of the highest quality. The opportunity to cook in, cosy up to the wood fire and share some time with them & the other guests really is special. Don’t miss out on the full ‘Pioneer’ breakfast Or Mitzi’s special daily bakes - all delicious.

In a word: special
The Old Ferry is a true gem. From the historic building and gorgeous setting by a river to the sumptuous breakfast, Mitzi and Dan provided one of the best B & B experiences we have ever had. There are so many wonderful special touches like homemade treats for the guests each evening, oversized fluffy towels and robes, and the genuine warmth and local information provided by our hosts that set the Old Ferry apart. Would recommend this lovely place most highly.
Great traditional Bed & Breakfast! Dan and Mitzy were great hosts and very welcoming. Delicious breakfast served every morning. Highly recommend.
Lovely place, lovely hosts, lovely setting. Definitely be back to stay.
Best Hotel B&B in New Zealand
If you are visiting Queenstown, this charming gem of a place is perfect for exploring locally and visiting Queenstown itself. Why stay in the busy noise of a town when you can relax in this lovelingly restored old ferry house. Dan and Mitzi are so accommodating and helpful and although not huge, each bedroom has been thoughtfully designed, with beautiful features, antique furniture and although some reproduction it has kept its old worldly charm whilst still giving a luxury experience, with home made cookies, fluffy towels and bathrobes.. WIth a hearty breakfast made to order your are set up for the day. Only wish we could have stayed longer!
