excellent location and staff hospitality. Highly recommended if you visit Santo
The people and staff were caring and considerate. The only problem was, a couple of nights i had no water until about 5:30 am. If i used the bathroom in the night i could not wash my hands.
Great place to stay on Santo
Great Staff. Really good food. Nice location in town. And they have lots of packages for tourists. Rooms are nice and clean with AC!
Staff were excellent friendly and helpfull. Rooms were great
Espiritu was a great location in the town, the restaurant offered delicious meal and drink options. Rooms were simple but nice and clean, The staff were incredible.😊
Average room and dining area was hot but staff were helpful and friendly.
The staff more than made up for the shortcomings of the hotel. They catered to your beconed call. They made a point of learning your name and going out of the way to greet you and ask how you were doing. One of the staff even offered to walk with me a couple of blocks to the local museum.
It was okay. Nothing to get excited about.
The hotel is basic. The main building has a nice pool (cold) and bar area. The rooms are functional but has wear and tear, and a little run down. The beds are comfortable. It was ok for the price. The area is not the best, I would recommend staying out near a beach or with a family if you want better accessible sites. The restaurant was great when you could get the options. Supply options seem to be an issues as they were out of things, sometimes almost everything. For comparison, this would be a hotel you would pay 10-20$ for in Asia.
Good accomodation
Loved the facilities and swimming pool.
Love the Espiritu
Clean rooms, comfy beds, friendly staff, delicious food - what more could we want? We will certainly stay again.
Great
Very nice hotel and super restaurant. Can recommend!
Stat
Excellent service, especially considering the remoteness and recent global challenges. Well done
Perfect Location
Perfect stay, rooms clean, staff very friendly and helpful. The Espiritu has one of the main restaurants in town which was not only good food but extremely convenient. Also has one of the main dive shops attached for those interested in diving, if so highly recommend pacific dive. All in all a very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend!
Comfortable beds, lovely environment (shady area and great pool) and helpful & friendly staff.
Good Value and Location
Great location, friendly staff and hotel has a dive shop. Spacious room with adequate facilities. Limited complimentary breakfast.
Centrally located in town. Staff is friendly and helpful in arranging tours. The food in the restaurant was delicious. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. There was some traffic noise, but pretty quiet at night. Would stay here again!
This is a nice property right in the centre of the town. The only disappointing element of my stay was that part of my family couldn't get to Santo due to a medical incident and the staff at The Espiritu said they would consider a refund on the unused room we booked. They never replied to me - if they wanted to decline it, they could have. An answer would have been nice.
We also stayed in 2013. The refurbishment is excellent and has a mini resort feel but right in the centre of town. On-site restaurant has terrific food and efficient service. The pool is a fantastic addition. The staff are friendly and very helpful, and rooms are serviced daily. We don't mind stairs, but as rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd level, it might be difficult for some.
The staff are fantastic - very friendly and accommodating. The food was good. Location was great for doing various activities on the island.
My wife and I have stayed in numerous hotels across Vanuatu and this is one of the best . All the staff are well trained and deliver a quality of service that is often missing in other accommodation.
Great staff and accommodations! Always a pleasure to return. Will be back again whenever I am I Luganville.
Really liked it
Right in the middle of town which is fairly shabby. Looks okay from the street but once you step inside it is a little piece of paradise. Pool is gorgeous, dining room couldn’t be prettier. Friendly staff. Comfortable room a/c keeps it chill.
Local Stay
We have eaten at the Tu Restaurant many times, but we spent our first night at the Espiritu just recently. We booked a family room on the third floor (counting the ground floor as #1). It was quite a contrast to our usual lodging in Vanuatu. For one thing, there were two bathrooms attached to the room, and both showers had hot and cold running water. There was not an outhouse anywhere in smelling distance. Good fly screens keep out mosquitoes in the unlikely event that any find their way to the third floor of this downtown location. Electric power to everything but the refrigerator is controlled by the room key. When we came in for the evening, we turned on the air conditioner and shut the windows. This effectively shut out (most of) the outside noise. My wife borrowed a couple of DVDs from reception. They were children's movies for our daughter to watch on the in-room TV and DVD player. I perused the internet. It was slow and had a 7168 MB limit for 7 days, but any internet in Santo is a big plus. The beds were very comfortable. We slept well. Our daughter enjoyed the pool as she always does when we come to the restaurant. The complimentary continental breakfast was available to order, rather than on buffet, but it was ample. If you are looking to experience the real Vanuatu, then this is not for you. If you are looking for comfort in the heart of Santo Town, then this is the place for that.
Nice hotel, great amenities. Air con works well but no channels available on the tv in the room. Staff is lovely. The hotel is in the middle of Luganville city, close to the supermarket, local market, few restaurants, pharmacy,...
very friendly guys and do lots to help you, more than others.
Close to the airport at downtown Espiritu Santo. Shops and restaurants close by. The rooms were comfortable and the outdoor pool area and restaurant was beautiful. Food was great. Will definitely go again. Would be nice to have steadier wifi signal and hot water running constantly rather than at just certain hours of the day though.
Very central and great pool / bar area. Food great.
My 20th trip to Vanuatu but first to Santo. I was very happy with the hotel, superb food all cooked on site & great staff. Will def stay again. You can add an egg or sausage to the continental breakfast if you like. The room was huge & a quiet A/C unit. Hot water in the shower without a miss.
Pleasent stay in the center of town
Very welcoming, helpful staff. Great setting with a nice pool and convenient restaurants close by.
Great location, clean rooms, helpful staff
Lovely hotel. We arrived on a Sunday morning not realising everything was closed. We hadn't pre booked a tour and all hire cars were booked out until the day we left. The lovely lady on reception was very helpful and called around to some drivers. We then managed to get a driver to take us up the east coast which was a lovely day. Hotel is in the best location. Rooms are spacious and clean. King bed sofa fridge kettle t.v. desk and bathroom. Pool and pool table which can be used. Food is lovely. Happy hour every day too. Would stay again and totally recommend. Thanks for having us.
Best option in town
Comfortable, clean rooms with air con and good beds. Family rooms have two bathrooms. Surprisingly quiet with construction next door and across road. Main supermarket 50m down road. If your luggage is heavy, ask for ground floor or you will be carrying upstairs. WWII artefacts on display in breakfast restaurant.
Comfortable stay, good location. Beware car hire!
Very pleasant hotel in centre of town. Comfortable and spacious room and helpful staff. Good restaurant. One criticism: we hired a car from the hotel to pick up from the airport without meeting anyone first. The car didn’t have a full tank of fuel in, notwithstanding the paperwork noting that it did, and we were expected to take it back full. Hence we paid for more fuel than we used. The staff weren’t really interested in doing anything about it !
Business trip
Overall good.. was for business so not bad
what a great place to stay!
Had an absolutely wonderful stay here. Staff were friendly and super efficient, food and cocktails were outstanding! Spent most of the day in the pool drinking cocktails on the last day of our holiday and it was an unexpected gem. Well done to The Espiritu team! will definately be back and highly recommend.
Nice pool and good location in Luganville
The Espiritu is an affordable mid-range option in Luganville, located right in the centre of town. It has a beautiful pool, a restaurant and even an in house dive shop. Reception, kitchen and bar staff all lovely, and happy to help. The water cut out a few times while we stayed - however we still enjoyed our time here. Spacious rooms, with mini fridge, water bottles provided and a kettle :) Would recommend to friends. Happy hour at the bar (full price cocktails are fairly expensive!)
rooms do not have hot water !
Nice hotel in the centre of Luganville
We stayed for over a week in this hotel. The friendliness of the staff was great, the rooms were clean and serviced every day very thoroughly. We had breakfast in price of the stay but if there was one thing we weren't happy about, it was definitely the breakfast. Not only were they out of some stuff almost every day, they also mixed our orders on several occasions. On one occasion our servings of yoghurt (which is literally one tablespoon) were grainy, lumpy and tasted spoiled. The days before it was fine though, we never ordered yoghurt after that. Lunch and dinner services were fine with fair prices comparable to the rest of the island and very high food quality which we appreciated. We rented a car with the hotel without any problems which was fantastic and also dived with the company that resides at the hotels reception. Overally a positive experience.
What a gem! Perfect for business or pleasure!
I've been traveling for both business and pleasure in Vanuatu for 17years, The Espiritu is the best value I've found! This is my 'go-to' place in Santo. The staff have been exceptional, the rooms clean, and the restaurant fantastic. Located in the center of Luganville you step inside and feel like you're at a resort. It is rare that I get an immediate positive reaction to a hotel -- and i travel almost weekly -- but The Espiritu felt perfect from the start to the finish. This stay is a business trip but I'll be back for my next Santo holiday.
Good central base for diving President Coolidge
This hotel delivers as a convenient and clean home base for diving the President Coolidge. There isn't much else to do in Santo, but this hotel provides a clean, convenient base if you want to do it. The kitchen also provided the most tasty and timely a la carte service in Longueville. The hotel staff were also very accomodating, even allowing a later than standard check-out, to accomodate an unwell passenger on an evening flight.
Nice with great food
The pool/dining area is beautiful especially at night. Meals are expensive compared to elsewhere in town but quality is superb. Stagf are friendly an helpful. We had a room with balcony. It wasn't extravagant but was comfortable and clean. Unfortunately there was demolition going on next door which was noisy.
Great location in town centre. Friendly staff.
Perfect base for exploring santos. Lovely staff. Decent restaurant and breakfast. Good location in centre of town.
Good but beware of windowless rooms
Everything was good except the room had no windows! The only daylight came via the bathroom. Ask for room with a view (or at least a window) when booking.
Close to the centre of town
Second time we have stayed here, great staff and management, very helpful with everything and recently renovated
A nice setting in a great place
The Espiritu staff is exceptional, very warm and genuinely interested that you enjoy your stay. The location of the hotel in town lets you experience the life of Luganville while also giving you broad access to the island. The presentation of the hotel is lovely and inviting. The rooms, recently updated and comfortable, could have used the eye of someone with a little more experience in modern decor.
Clean and secure
Overnight stay on arrival Very pleasant staff, extremely helpful Room and balcony spotless! Fantastic food and service in Tu Restaurant Highly recommend Would stay again
Great week in Luganville
Good food, pool and bar service. Friendly helpful staff and an overall pleasant experience. The locals are very friendly and helpful
Central
Great choice if you're looking to stay in town. Close to all shops, very friendly staff and nice, clean rooms. The attached restaurant also serves delicious food. It is an easy point for tour pick ups also. All round, a great stay.
Staff were very helpful and Sandra organised a wonderful day trip fo us
Centre of Town
Lovely place. Right in the middle of Luganville. The poolside dining room looks enchanting at night. Just 2 small improvements needed - bedside lamp would be good, and for people who need to work on laptops the rooms could do with a small work desk or something to put a laptop on.
Nice hotel near the center of town
Nice hotel near the center of town. There was a beautiful pool and common area in an inside courtyard, perfect for lazing by the pool an afternoon or drinks before dinner. There was also an on-site restaurant that served great food. You have everything you need for a fabulous vacation...
Good Location
Under some building extensions, issues with hot water, excellent Chef / Restaurant.
All good
Beautiful outdoor area/pool/restaurant/bar
The staff at the Espiritu were so friendly and helpful, they got to know all of the guests by name, organised any tour you wanted and supplied snorkels/beach towels. The dinner menu at the hotel was amazing and there are other restaurants/kava bars within walking distance. Best place to stay in Luganville
good option for luganville
Had a nice stay here, staff are friendly and helpful
Friendly relxaion
Pleasant ambience and helpful, friendly staff made my stay memorable..
Location Location
Centrally located right in the heart of Lugainville town, The Espiritu is a newly renovated Hotel which much to offer including free internet.
Central location in town
Very helpful staff. Personal service. Meals value for money. Steak
Best deal in Santo ... and best location..
The room we got is 301 and is excellent...Our baggage went missing in POrt vila so the hotel was quite handy to go Air Vanuatu office just 20 metres from hotel. Visit to Aore island is easy 5 min walk to the harbour to catch a boat. Breakfast is good and enough. Please remember you did not book a resort and this place is much better than a decent hotel. The pool renovation is beautiful ... Breakfast by the pool is great. The renovations for bar and restaurent are still in progress but that didn't bother us much .. Rayman and SImon are very careful in not disturbing the guests.
Hotel centrally located
Simon the manager was excellent and with aquamarine five in the same lobby life was easy.
Facilities: Brand new; Cleanliness: Immaculate; They were in the process of building a pool
Nothing to like but the location
Reception made us very frustrated. Was given a asian point microwave so it didnt plug in. Hotel was under construction (the pool). We had two bathrooms... Nothing to like but the location
Close to the centre of town
The bathroom / toilet needed a good clean, due to renovations it was noisy and messy. The staff were very good helpful & good. the fridge turned off every time toe power key was removed from the socket so drinks were not cold on returning from a day out.
Facilities: Everyday; Value: Affordable; Service: Courteous; Cleanliness: Spotless; close to sea and other facilities
Great place to stay in Luganville!
This hotel is clean, close to everything and has friendly staff. Simon was very helpful and accommodating when I asked about tours in Santo. Great service, good price and big, clean rooms! I really enjoyed my stay at the Espiritu and can warmly recommend it!
Well located hotel close to all facilities.
Ideal stay for a stay for business trip with a coupl of days for sightseeing. Good breakfast included. Hotel has restaurant but is close other reasonable eateries.
There's currently renovations going on, the espiritu is building a pool site. However in the meantime things are pretty noisy and dusty
Friendly, great hotel
Being in the centre of town there is easy access to restaurants and to taxis who act as tour drivers/guides to all attractions. Undergoing renovation when we were there but not intrusive. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Fantastic service
The hotel provides simple but comfy value for money. The hotel is not quite due to the installation of a swimming pool and refurbishing rooms in good taste. The service is the best part of the hotel, Simon being extremely helpful in organising tours and advice on restaurants etc. nothing is too difficult and when our flight was returned from Port Vila due to bad weather, we were stranded at the airport for several hours with no food he organised and delivered delicious sandwiches for 13 people from Santo and then refused payment. A huge thanks to Simon and his brother.
Hotel Espiritu, a work in progress
Enjoyed my stay of 5 days at Espiritu. Its going through a major redevelopment as we speak with enlarged pool and room renovations. A bit of a building site but staff are wonderfully accommodating ( Thank you Raymond & Simon ) who went well out of their way to organise transport , taxis and recommendations re Santo. Aquamarine divers also located in the hotel foyer so convenient for diving types.
Balcony rooms are terrific...great staff and location. Will be back!
We had a great time at The Espiritu...the staff were terrific, and super-friendly. The room was nice (we upgraded to the Balcony Room) and clean with a view across to Aore Island. Wouldn't hesitate in booking to stay there again - especially once they've finished putting the pool in. Oh! And the hire car facility is great too, and a really good way to check out the East coast on your own. Just beware the incessant fees at natural attractions...they see you coming a mile away!
Facilities: Good, Modern, Nice ; Value: Acceptable price, Average price; Service: Respectful, Friendly, Courteous; Cleanliness: Tidy, Neat; in centre of town.
Good Now, Better When Pool Done
We stayed for two nights and really enjoyed our stay. We had a deluxe family room which comes with two bathrooms. It is not 5 star but still pretty good. The only negative is that the bathrooms could have a better shower rose, but apart from that it is good value for Santo. Continental breakfast is reasonable and the setting is nice. For lunch and dinner I recommend the Ocean King restaurant next door if they're open. The Aussie owners make sure the locals don't overcook the food which can be a problem at other places in Vanuatu. The fish and calamari we had were cooked to perfection. If you're heading uo the East Coast Road, lunch at the Velit Bay Plantation was also good if they're open, but we had chicken and beef as it was cooked by locals, so played safe.

This is a friendly, well run, clean, quiet home away from home. Chef standard food is superb - always a great bar and restaurant experience. It’s been an absolute delight to keep returning here year after year. Locals also appreciate it as the best place in town to gather for family and work functions - this is a great tick of approval from a seasoned traveller. Business can also be conducted with good office backup from the front desk - always with a willing smile.
