Very disappointed that there was tons of noise outside my room and from the lobby in middle of the night. And the shower never got very hot. I asked to fix it but it was never fixed. Overall the staff was good and the location is great.
We wanted the light in our room to be shut off but it was a difficult task since the light was set to Shabbat mode. Unfortunately, we had the light on the whole evening and we couldn't sleep. We went and complained to the reception desk. As a courtesy, Yazen Atrash offered our family lunch which was an incredible experience. He also offered to give us a discount when we're ready to book another reservation. We are So Happy with the incredible service that Yazan offered us. We will definitely come again!
Comfortable rooms with plenty of space… Well appointed amenities. Great staff
Great location. Amazing views. Excellent service at breakfast buffet which is impressive. Atta added his special touch in his personalized service at breakfast. Rooms are well appointed and nice in size. We walked to the old city and just soaked about Jerusalem so easily from this location. We look forward to returning.
Excellent as usual
Nothing to say always excellent , swimming pool big enough to accept lot of guests , food excellent , location just the best. Very happy as usual
Great hotel
Always wonderful!
Nice people nice hotel
Hotel is nicely decorated. Room is spacious though without a nice view. Tub and shower very nice and convenient. Breakfast was great even though it was Saturday so no hand made omelets. Still very tasty and clean. Must say the service was bad. Receptionist and other staff members are not very nice, we felt unwelcome. Never had such experience in other hotels in Jerusalem. So we will not come back to this hotel. Price was expensive for one night stay. Dairy restaurant was not open during Friday night, we could only order to go and no available tables for someone who wants to order a snack or coffee. Too bad for 5 star hotel. Location is awesome.
The hotel, staff and property were accommodating, courteous and comfortable.
Kids floor was excellent! And also the heated pool!
The staff was extremely polite. We had a late flight out and they gave us an extended late checkout as a courtesy which they didn’t have to do. The staff was also very attentive to elderly guests at breakfast, anticipating their every need. Was very special to see.
Excellent service. We will definitely be coming back. Especially Ilan, Eviator & Yonatan (concierge team) were exceptional.
Great staff and good restaurant, pool, and kids play area. Within walking distance of most major jerusalem landmarks.
This is a beautiful hotel with a great location amazing service! and very family friendly. We were very happy here and will definitely stay here again. 😊
Prepare to wait and make requests multiple times.
The staff is generally friendly, however, they need to be reminded several times to get anything done. If you want something you have to ask 3 people before you get it. Kind of a pain. Prepare to wait for everything in general. Another example if you do the online checkin they don’t check it so they ask for everything again and then they see that you already did it.
We absolutely loved the David Citadel in Jerusalem! We highly recommend staying there because it’s the best location for shopping, restaurants and sightseeing. The staff went out of their way to spoil us, as it was our wedding anniversary, especially Sasha and Sonya. The breakfast each morning was superb, as was our room with a view of the swimming pool and the Old City.
The staff was there to please and they did.
Very clean and organized stuff and also very polite.
Chose the hotel based on reco - one of which was the outdoor pool/proximity to Old Jerusalem. We had two rooms w/views. When we booked we knew it would be long hot days touring and wanted to swim when we checked in. Upon check we were told that it was closed for a wedding but there was no advanced notice. We asked about the spa and were told it closed at 7pm. At 6 we called to ask them a question prior to heading down and we were told it was closed already. We then were told that part of our stay (as good members) was a bottle of wine and nibbles. They weren’t in the room so we called down to request them and were told they would be delivered to the room promptly. We waited for 1/2 hour and left for dinner. When we returned we went to the lounge for a nightcap. They said that they were closing shortly but would make us a drink. It took 1/2 hour for it to get to us. When we got to the room the wine and food had not been delivered. They came at 11 pm with the wine. I left a pair of brand new pants with the tags on in the room that I purchased that evening from a nearby store. Contacted them the next day and they couldn’t locate them. Spoke to a manager at checkout about the experience and how disappointed we were and were told We would be contacted. Received a call but couldn’t speak at that time and was told I would hear back the next day never did. Followed up several times and no one has yet to contact me. Wouldn’t return!
The staff, food and location of the Hotel are great.
Shower drain didn't work, causing a nasty flood throughout the entire bathroom. A strong smoke smell the second night we were there.
Ridiculously overpriced. The little things - attention to detail was lacking. Bedroom lampshade was dusty, alarm clock not set to the right time. No mini bar. Had to request a turn down service - no chocolates. Could not watch a movie from the beginning. Spa closed for renovations. Pool bar closed during the week. I was their for one night and wanted to spoil myself - it was not worth it. However the staff and service were outstanding as is the position.
Great Experience
Great overall location, lovely view
No hot food on Sabbath
The overall stay at David Citadel was average. I want to say that Israel is very expensive, and naturally we paid up for the hotel. The location was fantastic. Easy walking to the Old town, and I cannot complain. The hotel itself was a bit run down, and the service was really average. I have trouble with the hotel restaurant with NOT serving anything HOT on Sabbath, and its only cold fish and no meat. I understand its a custom, but other outside restaurants do. Anyway, I was quite disappointed with the menu, as after a long day, you would want to stay in the hotel and rest.
Fantastic hotel. Beautiful room and the breakfast was incredible.
1. The check in process was rude and disinterested. The shabis situation was not explained well, and we were confused thinking we couldn’t eat or have lights on. At no point we’re we offered alternative restaurant options other than we can go out and look for ourselves. The attended didn’t seem to care, didn’t explain WiFi, amenities, anything. He was so bored and disinterested. He didn’t care or want to be there with us. Awful welcome! 2. We are staying seven nights. We were put into a small room looking at a wall with a 1m wide window. 3. The room was dusty and unclean. 4. When we spoke to reception, and told them of our intention to leave because of the issues, they couldn’t care less. They told us to calll Expedia. 5. We went to reception and eventually spoke to another woman. She argued with us about the cleanliness of the room for 15mins and the shockingly bad checkin process. We were eventually offered an upgrade at our cost ($1,800) but eventually complimentary. 6. The new room was unclean. There was a chip on the floor, dirt on bed, towels weren’t folded properly, tissue box still closed, dirty balcony with dried lettuce leaves, bird poo everywhere, dust on almost every surface. We showed the guy who took us to the room. He shrugged his shoulders and said some people will love this hotel and others will have the worst experience. Seriously? He told us he would get the cleaner, this never happened. When we phoned reception again they told us to enjoy our stay
This hotel is very dated and needs updating other than rooms that have been other than air con and pillows.. The common areas are really dirty and unpleasant. Pool furniture badly ripped and stained. Filth on floor that is still there days later. Rooms were upgraded as air con was terrible in first rooms. Noisy still in suites, meaning impossible to sleep with it on. The pillows need throwing away. It is unacceptable how dirty the pool in particular was, though dirt in other areas remained too. Staff seem oblivious.
Samir a dining for break first was the best Amazing service we receive from him
I have stayed at this property many times over the years. I think that now all the common areas are looking very dated and worn and that all the furnishings in the common areas should be replaced and updated.
I was completly disspointed about this hotel, its supposed to be a five start hotel, is a pretty expensive hotel more than 550 per night. The rug was diry on mi arrival, the courtins had wholes on them, the bed was badly done, you cpould not turn of the light completly in the room, the AC stoped working in the middle of the night. I do not reccomend staying here, and more under that price.
Disgusting dirty rooms
The stay was terrible. The pictures on websites don’t correspond what actually provided. The rooms are dirty and badly maintained. When we arrived, the first room was provided and there was broken glass on floor that I injured my foot with. After we requested to switch room. Second room was very dirty as well. On top of that there was smell of peeing. That is the most disgusting stay. It definitely not 5 star hotel. Personal is very rude. Food was bad as well. I had orange juice with taste of soap, my husband had sandwich that tasted terribly.
Excellent hotel all around and excellent food and service! Will stay here anytime I am in israel !
Amazing views of the Old City, wonderful staff, central location.
Worst 5 Star Hotel I’ve Experienced
The staff was very rude and at times lazy (e.g. not ordering our car to airport or offering to help us with luggage). The location is great, but dealing with the staff was a nighmare and ruined the trip to Jerusalem for my fiancé and myself. The hotel rooms themselves are also a bit run-down (had the junior suite) for a 5 star hotel.
Beautiful location and service
Beautiful hotel great location Freindly staff and super clean
generally underwhelmed
The hotel is very well located near the old city and adjacent to an outdoor mall, however the overall property seemed a bit dated and i thought the service in general could have been better. Staffed seemed Aloof most of the time. I had to replace my key three times for no apparent reason. After some misunderstanding my room didn't get cleaned one day and while the restaurant overlooking the pool is beautiful, service was hard to get. I think the biggest issue is the hotel seems very geared towards Tours who they seem to dote on. As a single traveler i really didn't seem to be a priority and on several occasions including the restaurant and front drive was basically ignored. I travel for work a lot and considering the room rate experience was generally a bit disappointing.
Best luxury hotel in Jerusalem, especially the staff and their level of service
Great hotel with amazing views of the Old City. Convenient location and easy parking in the building. Friday night dinners are excellent. Breakfast is good, but diminished from when we last stayed there.
Great hotel. Always my go-to location when I visit Isreal
The staff and bedroom were excellent. The conservatory was out of action for breakfast- disappointing since the room used was windowless. The breakfast items were cold and it took ages for coffee and tea to arriveand when it did it was cold.
The best place ever and I am a bit fussy! Gorgeous room, wonderful staff, awesome location. worth every penny! Amazing!
Disappointed by its 5* claim
Hotel is in great location and ce ter to it all. However for the 5 stars it claims to be its missing even a 3 star touch. Pillows are outdated and flat. Porch has never been cleaned, the rails are filthy and dusty. 2x2 porch and cant even enjoy it. Chairs on porch is of wood and its old so it will leave you with splinters. Hotel is understaffed. Elevator broken diring Saturday night check out the busiest of the wee with no one to help. All in all, at $700+ per night servie should be better and time to update your rooms, its starting to feel like a motel
The room was dirty, We were asked to pay for parking. It was short and expensive
Top notch hotel all around!
The David Citadel os just a great hotel all around. 2 thumbs up. Breakfast buffet was plentiful, fresh and tasty with a great variety. The pool was amazing with a breathtaking view of the Old City. Staff were all very friendly. Thanks for a great stay
customer oriented hotel
Even the cost is high The cost benefit for your stay there justify
Fabulous!!
We stayed for 2 nights and had 3 rooms. Each with balcony and partial views of the old city walls and the hotel pool. The staff were amazing. They accommodated all requests from early check in to moving a table in the dining room (no we weren’t being problem guests - medical reasons!). They were polite and helpful. The rooms are lovely. I found the bed really comfortable and slept like a log! The food was amazingly good both in the dining room and the lobby bar and breakfast was outstanding! My only suggestion would be that more care needs to be taken in cleaning the balconies and the balcony furniture. Apart from that slight cleaning blip this hotel is a must!! Wonderful!
The air-conditioning was invalid so they transfer us to another place but for a better room.the bed for 9 years boy was very small and uncomfortable .we think the price was very high.
FIRST CLASS ALL THE WAY!
There is no finer hotel in all of Jerusalem in my opinion, or for that matter in all of Israel. We have a fabulous stay this past week, and the children's play area was fantastic for the grandchildren to keep them happy and occupied during the warm afternoons during Shabbat. The food could not have been better and the wait staff could not do enough for us, and always with a smile and true desire to serve the customer. The room itself was spacious, clean, new and the room amenities were first-rate. I have no criticisms whatsoever, other than I wish they could make it a bit more economical to stay there when you are taking out several rooms for other family members.
.
Very well situated. Clean. Service was amazing.
It was a very pleasant stay. All was ok. I was just upset that we had to pay for the parking. That was very in fair and un necessary. The hotel was not full at all. And to charge for the parking upset me a lot. I love your hotel. I live in South Africa and was in a visit here in Israel. I will defiantly recommend your hotel but I will ask my business colleagues to check first about the parking. Thanks a lot.
Love the hotel, the location, the food and the service.
Vacation in Jerusalem
The hotel located near the old city with a wanderful view to the David tampel. The hotel staff did the best for making us comfetable and to enjoy our local vacation.
הכל היה מושלם, נקי מסודר ואין צפיפות לא בחדר האוכל ולא בבריכה
One of the best hotels in Israel
Great hotel, very recommended..
Great overnight stay!
The hotel was great at enusring people kept their distance and masks on...they read my requests and gave us a quiet room. Breakfast was very nice, tables were very spaced out and service was good. I forgot something in the room and called late at night to see if they noticed it...and they did!! Was seriously impressed with their service
Nice vacation
Generally it was good. A few small things. The pancakes and waffles at 8:20 were cold. Forgot a mask once and for some strange reason, they did not have masks at reception so had to back to the 10th floor to get one.
he food
I had a bad stomach pain after the dinner
Fine. Kindly send my receto my mail. I enjoyed the place. Quite lovly and relaxing
Magnificent Old city view. Very friendly staff. Very elegant interior.
Staff great friendly efficient, very professional. The hotel is used a ton and it’s starting to show
Great weekend stay
Stayed for Shabbat - great Hotel - wonderful buffets on Friday night and Shabbat Day, although they were pricey
Incredible room. Meals perfect. Service impeccable.
Great location. Keep in mind that if you’re there on Shabbat the Shabbat elevator stops on every floor and the buffet is cold only. Great hotel.
It’s in a great location in regards to Old Jerusalem. 🙂 We had to ask three times for our complimentary wine and fruit. 🙁 Never heard back from the concierge regarding dinner reservations 🙁
Poor service for the price you pay
Beautiful hotel and very close (walkable) to Jaffa gate of old city. But service was most definently not 5 star. There were a number of inconveniences throughout our stay. Although everyone was kind, everyone from housekeeping to concierge need to be retrained in their respective departments. However, special thanks to Moataz in the restaurant as well as all breakfast staff (literally all waiters in breakfast) for being so delightful and kind to us. Also, thanks to the entire guest relations dept, especially Hadar, for offering to help make our stay more comfortable despite the repeat inconveniences. Hadar and front desk member, Yazan, helped with giving tips for our trip to Hebron. Breakfast was lovely, room was pretty and I appreciate the upgrade in room. Alas, it was 2 twins put together instead. Suggestions for improvement: with the exception of restaurants and breakfast staff, please have all staff re-trained and perhaps this hotel can have some hope in attaining 5 star quality. For now, though, it doesn't even amount to 3 star quality. Nonetheless, thanks again to guest relations for truly apologizing and trying to compensate for the numerous hiccups throughout our stay.
Looks can be decieving!
Although it may look like a five star hotel, the service was FAR from it. Experienced endless number of inconveniences throughout our 3 days (2 spearate bookings- both poor serviced). Booked a room for 3 and everything was made for 2 people (robes, slippers, towels, etc). TV in bathroom did not work, booked a room for king size bed, they have two twins put together. They had 1 comforter for only 1 of the 2 twin beds. When we asked for another comforter they brought it folded but it was wet! Had a city view room on reservation but it was only a wall of a building adjacent to hotel- no city view whatsoever; when bringing this up to front desk, the front desk man laughed and said, "ma'am that is our city view. You can't get a real city view with every room. What are we supposed to put in the room description? No city view?!" I responded and explained to him that it's false advertisement to state there is a city view when really there isn't. He continued laughing. The concierge knows very little to nothing about Jerusalem & surrounding areas. Concierge is also disorganized. They handed us a ticket with the number of bags they loaded in our car, yet we had one bag missing and didnt realize this until we got to Tel Aviv airport. Concierge told us it was our fault instead of owning to their mistake and demanded we pay for the taxi to bring our bag to airport. Thanks to guest relations for somewat making up for inconveniences. Won't be recommending to family/friends,though.
This is a brillliant and friendly hotel in an excellent location adjacent to the Mamilla Mall and the Old City. We couldn’t of had a better time there.
Beautiful hotel with view
We had a wonderful stay at your hotel. The Shabbat services and dinner was most enjoyable. Thank you for your excellent hospitality.
Great location, nice pool. Friday night dinner was high quality. Service was uniformly mediocre. No coffee at breakfast until servers flagged down and asked. No explanation of anything at check in (wifi, breakfast time, where the elevators are etc). Key prearranged but not ready at pickup. If you can get it at a substantial discount it’s ok, otherwise there are better “premium” hotels in the area.
The only thing going for this property was the location and the gym. We spent close to double the amount that we spent on any other accommodation in a month of travelling and were sorely disappointed. The hotel was outdated, and needed serious upkeep. The bathroom had toilet water seeping from it and stunk and the staff were extremely unhelpful. When we arrived no one assisted out with our luggage which even the taxi driver was surprised by. We were upgraded and were very happy but the bathroom had major plumbing issues. When asking the concierge where to eat prior to shabbat, she was extremely unhelpful and had an intolerant tone. We felt completely ignored when asking for helping and often had other travelers jump in front of us. The breakfast was appalling - on Shabbat, it was served in a large hall that was worse than a kiddish at a Synagogue. The table clothes were filthy and the food was inedible. We were looking forward to this stay and wanted to treat ourselves but it was the worst accommodation that we stayed in - we were not even able to go to the bar overlooking the old city on Shabbat because of the dinner that was being set up. This hotel is only suitable for families who observe Shabbat as everyone else seemed to be treated as second class citizens.
David Citadel is a lovely facility with excellent staff. The location is perfect across from the Mamilla mall and a few minutes to Jaffa gate, one of the main entrances to the old city. The concierge, Maya, was extremely helpful and encouraged us to go to the Israel Museum, even giving us free tickets. Great advice - the museum was a treat. Elias allowed us late check-out which really helped before a long 12 hour flight back to the US. Breakfast is a big spread with all sorts of good stuff. Delicious tomato gnocchi, sesame pasta, babaganouch, cheese bourekas etc. This is a very popular family friendly hotel, so breakfast gets very chaotic very fast, inspite of the best efforts of the kind and gentle staff. This is not a negative, just something to know. If you have kids or a family gathering, this is the perfect place. If quiet is what you desire, this may not be ideal. Special shout out to all those who made our experience pleasant - Mohammed and Elias at check-in, concierge Maya; and Abed and Samer at breakfast.
The terrace is beautiful. The service wasn’t as good as other times
Great location, the property is top notch and very current. Best in Jerusalem.
Pool was too crowded and closed too early given summer heat.
Not a 5 star property in our opinion. We did not receive VIP treatment when it came to our room. Only after complaining loudly were we moved to an appropriate room the next day. The guest relation staff was poor and continued to tell us “ you got the room you reserved “. The original room provided had 1 small window with a view of an alley and a bunch of old tires.
Great breakfast, though expensive for bringing a guest
Great stay!!
David citadel was great. Superb service. Excellent room. Great breakfast. Nice infinity pool.
Excellent pool, lots of lounge chairs for everyone. Pool boys, and all breakfast servers were excellent. I would stay again for sure, very comfortable experience.
nice pool nice room the staff at the pool bar and the room service need to learn how to give service
Great outdoor space! Great service we really enjoyed
Amazing service
Wonderful location with easy access to Jaffa Gate by walking through the high-end Mamilla Mall. Amazingly helpful staff who went out of their way to help me with coordinating travel logistics and provide insights and recommendations. High class all around.
Great choice!
The David Citadel is beneficially locates, just a couple blocks from the ancient city of Jerusalem. We had a spectacular view from our balcony. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Staff went above and beyond to accomodate our needs. Very pleased.
Location was perfect - price was not. Booked VIP room, made rookie mistake of not completely understanding at checkin another VIP upgrade - making the room night +700. Not worth it - wish there was a Marriott nearby......
In additional to be a very pleasant hotel. It is located across from Mamilla Mall which makes it easy to walk to the Old City , Kotel and Wall and 5 minutes walk to Jafa and Benyehouda as well as being close to Jerusalem Theater which have live performances. Also the breakfast at the hotel is one of the best in the world
Awful
Just awful. 900 usd were stolen from room safe! Hotel security and management done nothing to solve the issue . Shame Shame Shame
Great location and beautiful hotel. Very odd situation with bedside lights that could not be turned off. Other than that a great place
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location was perfect for us ideally situated for exploring the old city. We liked the look of the heated swimming pool but never got to try it due to the cold weather.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location of the hotel was perfect for us. The pool looked lovely but weather didnt allow us try it.
Beautiful hotel with friendly staff and perfect location for sightseeing. Don’t muss the breakfast—it’s amazing!
The beat hotel in Jerusalem
One of the best hotels so far ! Good service, good breakfast. It was over expectations, a must stay in Jerusalem!
Location is fantastic and the hotel is well maintained and very accommodating!
My second stay at this hotel & another wonderful experience. Another beautiful room/bathroom, staff is still helpful & friendly. Sumptuous breakfast & Shabbat meals are served. Hotel is centrally located walking distance to Old City Jerusalem, city center, many tourist sites, shopping and restaurants. Highly recommended!
Terrific stay!
Wonderful ambiance and very courteous staff who were attentive to our every need.
Fabulous location. Beautiful rooms and facilities. Good quality food. Prices for meals are very high.
