Very unique property with extremely helpful and friendly staff. The onsite restaurant was also delightful. Our room was newly renovated and quite lovely.
Absolutely above all expectations. I stayed in room 203, which is a private room with its own bathroom. Didn’t even need ear plugs. The entire place is immaculate and charming. The staff are the best. The food is fantastic. Will be back for a longer stay!
We rented a private room on the first floor of this hostal and were so pleased to have a super comfy bed, clean room, hot shower, and quiet night. The staff were friendly, and the breakfast was great. Walking distance to museums and activities planned daily. Fun time!
Great location! Excellent staff! Clean! Great food!

Fantastic hostel in every sense. From the rooms to the bar and restaurant, to the great staff, a perfect hostel.
A week stay
Overall I had a decent stay. The best thing about the hotel is the staff. These guys are so wonderful, I almost even want to forget the issues I had but it’s important to state that for others. I booked a private room at this hostel and $50/ night through Hotels.com. When I got to me room, I was pretty shocked. It wasn’t what the pictures showed, oh, and the room was 3 twin mattresses on the floor. Not bed frame, no table chair. It did have a private bath. There was no way this room should have cost $50/night. They had no other room available and it was late at night, i had no other choice but to stay. The receptionist (Cami) felt so bad for me that after 2 nights she moved me to a much better room which was actually only $40/night. I spent 2 days in this extremely awful room ( which wasn’t what was advertised) and paid more. I hoped i will get refunded but the owner said, they pay $10 as a commission to hotels.com so no refund. I was provided $15 credit though, which is nothing. Its not a young professional type environment. Your average crowd is probably 18- 27 yrs old. Overall, I was fine but this whole advertising incorrect room and asking guests to sleep on the floor at $50 a night sounds shady. I don’t like this at all. Is this even legal? Lol, can a hotel rent private rooms without a bedframe? That’s weird. In all mu travels ive been to all sorts of hotels, but not something like this. They had a small closet thats about to fall off. #206, dont take it. Its awful.
A Very Model of a Modern Major General Hostel
This hostel / hotel is the model every hostel / hotel should follow. Every aspect of service, amenities, safety, cleanliness, social areas vs quiet spaces, modern design is at its peak here at the Croc. The staff are warm, generous and exceedingly helpful. They make you feel at home. The ambience is welcoming, comfortable, modern and clean. It feels like home. The rooms are quiet, clean, warm, and have plenty of outlets to plug into, comfy beds and nice lighting. They offer tons of activities. Great restaurant, too. The owners of the Croc have clearly spent time traveling because they have addressed every issue a traveler faces when on the road.
Great atmosphere and great food
A bit noisy but acceptable, a very nice atmosphere and fantastic food and coffee
Great stay at Cranky Croc
The Cranky Croc was undergoing renovations during my stay. However, the rooms appeared as brand new and perfectly clean. The hotel itself has a fun and friendly atmosphere and is located nicely in the downtown area. Easily with walking distance of everything downtown
Great hostel. Helpful staff. Superb location and absolutely amazing breakfasts. Only stayed for 2 days but would thoroughly recommend
Great Hostel!
This is a great little Hostel in a great location walking distance to everything in the old town. We found all the staff we encountered very friendly and helpful, there was always some on the front desk that spoke English to help us with any needs. The little breakfast restaurant on site does fab food and is very cheap, Bar also serves great cocktails and has a good range of drinks, nothing is expensive. The room was compact but very cheap and was quite fine for our family of 4 for 2 nights. The only concern if you had young kids was no sides on the top bunk, but the bottom bunk was more like a double bed so 2 kids under 10 could share the lower bunk fine. Great lounge and games area downstairs that kept our 2 boys very happy with board games and ping pong while we enjoyed the cheap cocktails and fast wifi! Overall one of the best Hostels that we have stayed in and we have been travelling the world now for 9 months!
Great place
Perfect location, helpful staff, and completely spotless! Loved it!
The Cranky Croc Hostel | Hotel in Bogotá | Travala.com
The location is perfect for people who want to be close to restaurants, nightlife and some of the city's biggest tourist attractions (Museo de Oro in particular). On the downside, the mattress was hard and My room (a prívate one with a prívate bath) was in an área next to the comunal áreas so there was some noise but nothing terrible and so I didn't request a change.
