Nice atmosphere and well cared for property.
We needed a day or two tranquility and the Chalet was perfect for our stay in Medlow Bath. Reasonably priced extremely clean and tidy and the hosts were very accommodating. The breakfast was top notch. Thanks - we'll be back.
I have been traveling around Australia for the past 14 days. I want to say David is a fantastic host and will go above and beyond to ensure your stay is comfortable. The Chalet is a beautiful old building from the 1800s that has modern amenities and great WiFi. Parking is easy and the continental breakfast will get your day started. I think this might be our favorite stop and hotel during our journey so far. The Blue mountains and wonderful lookouts are just a short 15 minute drive away in the near town of Katoomba. In England this would be called a Bed and Breakfast but in Australia it is a place to rest and really relax and be taken care of by David. Wonderful place. Great host!!
David and David were very helpful during our stay. Breakfast was wonderful as was the property and how it was decorated with unique art. We took their advice and visitors Govett’s Leap on our way to our next destination. What a beautiful place! If we ever get back to the area we will definitely be repeat renters.
Perfect slice of blue mountains paradise
Incredible experience thanks to fantastic hosts and a wonderful property. The Chalet was exactly what we were hoping for from a stay in Blue Mountains which was a little off the beaten path but still with good train access to Katoomba etc. The owners are incredibly accommodating and welcoming, making for a very personal experience. Other than the hospitality, a highlight has to be the visiting parrots and other wildlife in the area. Breakfast is light and perfect for what you need to start your day. Good filter coffee is also available for free or you can get David to make you a specialty coffee for a few extra dollars if your preference. Overall, so so happy and hope we have the chance to return some day.
The property is charming, the 2 guys running the Chalet were personable, welcoming, helpful. It was an absolute delight to stay there, I would certainly recommend to anyone who wants a peaceful, beautiful place to stay in the Blue Mountains
Wonderful place to stay with excellent quaint accomodation, a lovely fireplace and a great deal that includes breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
David is very friendly and helpful. We like the vibe of the guesthouse; we feel like we are guests of the house owner. =D We love the breakfast also! It has a few types of toast and cereal, juice, tea and coffee, and lactose-free milk, which is a plus! The parrots are having breakfast with us. David told us they didn't do it everyday then the parrots do not rely on their feed - very thoughtful. It will be great to have more space on the tables - it has however it has a beautiful lamp on it so we just choose not to touch them lol
Great experience
David was lovely and very hospitable. A quaint accommodation that fit all our needs. Thanks again!
Art Hotel getaway
A historical hotel that was great for getting away from the stresses of the city for a long weekend. Highlights included native birds feeding on the window sills, deep bathtubs for unwinding, and almost every inch of wall space covered by art, making it feel like a gallery. The hotel was like a mix between a hotel and bnb, where the hosts gave the perfect mix of helping and letting us have time to ourselves to relax in the dining and lounge areas. A convenient location in the mountains to be able to drive to Katoomba/Leura, travel further to Blackheath, or even walk to the Hydro Majestic for a few cocktails.
David and his partner are wonderful hosts who are very accommodating, friendly, and go out of their way to make you experience in this charming old chalet one to remember. There is an intriguing collection of eclectic and interesting art pieces that could engage the mind for hours all set in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Old world charm
A beautiful heritage property Quiet peaceful, well maintained rooms with everything you need, We only had a short stay, but we were comfortable and happy Continental breakfast adequate …jams from the area would have been a nice touch, cooked breakfast extra but was generous. So much beautiful art was lost as it covered every surface, Fewer works would have been just as interesting. Just so much to absorb and overwhelming. Parking easy. Plenty of places to eat, Thank you Davids for your beautiful home We had a great stay.
Nice and friendly staff
This is a hidden gem. We were keen to find somewhere to stay for 1 night for 2 adults and 2 children without all being in the same room so we didn't all have to go to bed at 8pm. This was a truly magnificent find, there is a truly enormous collection of artwork, the two adjoining rooms with ensuite were clean, spacious, well equipped and comfortable. There are some lovely touches especially the cosy bathrobes and drawing paper at breakfast. For a family stopover in the Blue Mountains I don't think we would stay anywhere else! Thanks to both Davids for being so hospitable.
Beautiful property, lovely ambiance and caring hosts.
Really lovely hosts, very friendly and very accommodating.
Charming place with warm hospitality. Very helpful and always there to assist. Fireplace a bonus, relaxing at end of day.
Great place to stay in the BLue Mountains
Loved the rustic and old-school feel of the place. The Hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Wereally loved our stay.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Chalet Guesthouse. David was a terrific host, and the room was beautifully appointed with a comfortable bed and a beautiful bathroom. Breakfast was perfect. We will definitely be back with our friends for a weekend away.
.
Great historical property with charming host
David was a wonderful host and made sure we had all we needed there was nothing he didn't see too. The Chalet was very clean and very accessible a wonderful weekend.
Not worth the money you spent. For watching the tennis finals you got to go to the common room. You are to mind if your watching it to bother others
Beautiful art collection, well equipped family room perfect for our family. David was an excellent host, very attentive and kind. We enjoyed sitting by the open fire, chatting with other guests, enjoying a red wine and perusing the amazing artworks. Very refreshing and the perfect mini break in the mountains. We will be back again soon.
Very enjoyable experience
Very comfortable rooms plus a relaxed setting provided by professional and friendly hosts.
Cosy, friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
The Chalet never fails to impress. Have been coming here for years, and this visit was no different. David is an exceptional host and made our stay a really wonderful experience. The room was great, and the dining experience was fantastic. The kitchen wasn't open, due to covid restrictions only just being eased, but David was more than willing to cook us breakfast each morning, which was excellent. Overall a wonderful experience for our honeymoon!
Excellent guesthouse very clean, great for a couple getaway. Friendly staff.
for those wanting to step back in time it's charming and character filled with period furniture and a blazing log fire in the dining room. A lovely experience the only negative is that they no longer serve an evening meal (although the owners will helpfully lay a table for you if you want to provide your own food - we bought some cheeses and a bottle of wine and the owners even supplied us with some olives free of charge). but dinner offered would be better because who wants to go out for dinner on a freezing mountain night
Just spent a relaxing 3 night break at The Challet. Had the largest room in the place that was very cosy & nicely adorned with art works (as is the entire place). No TV’s in the rooms, but has a cozy TV sitting room if the need to view arises, with plenty of books & games to keep people amused. Hosts were very welcoming people & happy to chat. Lovely dining area used for breakfast only at present & general lounging around. In the evening you can sit in front of a (real) open fireplace & sip a few wines, to the soft sounds of some easy jazz. Very relaxing! Not available for dinner at present unfortunately, as there’s no chief available on staff. Great local bushwalking areas to explore, for all skill & fitness levels. Would also highly recommend the Hydro Majestic’s historical tour, or just visit for a look see, a coffee or a high tea with spectacular views to the valley. Some nice restaurants 4kms west at Blackheath, if you didn’t want to tackle Katoomba’s busy Main Street. Would definitely look a return stay if back in the area again.
Fantastic stay
Fantastic stay highly recommended for the artistic funkybvibe , peace and quite
A magnificent character-filled guesthouse. Everything we hoped for.
The setting was in a beautiful peaceful part of the town, with tall trees and beautiful gardens. The house looks classic, inside and out. The hosts are fantastic. Will definitely go back.
A unique combination of art, sophistication and funk with a generous dose of privacy and attention to cleanliness and style. I would recommend The Chalet Guesthouse to anyone.
Nice and quiet environment. Friendly host and clean amenities. Furnitures are old but solid. Good value for the price.
I liked the decor and the cosy and quiet atmosphere. The hosts were very friendly and it was a a comfortable place to stay
The place is not just like a home, it is a gorgeous painting museum upon the blue mountain. Imagining how Wonderful! We had a warm staying over there plus numerous arts waiting for into our eyes, and two handsome David of the bosses being such friendly and lovely to us, just like the mountain welcoming people no matter of where you are from. Sitting by the fireplace whilst listening the classical music at the hall room was enjoyable, and the cosy room is well decor with paintings, art pieces, off course the green view by looking through the big window. Last thing has to be mentioned, they are managing the rules very well during this covid period, such as cleaning the room properly, dealing with food carefully with social distance. Next time when we visit mountain we shall live here again. Best wishes to dear David and David!
Great spot for a relaxing time
Great spot in a quite area. David, the host, was really helpful and very friendly. Highly recommend
Great home away from home. I was upgraded to the big room and loved it. The bath tub was great! David was friendly, easy going and attentive. Breakfast was a nice bonus as well. Really enjoyed my stay and chat with both Davids.
Very nice B&B, well located
David is a very nice host. The location is good, close to the main road but very quiet. Our room was pretty small but cosy. Breakfast is good (I wouldn't call it continental though, since the savoury dishes comes as extras). David is very organized to comply with social distancing and COVID measures during breakfast.
The facility is excellent and spotlessly clean. It has a fabulous "old world " charm about and is filled will quite a collection of art. It is also very quiet adding to its relaxed atmosphere.
I liked the friendly service ,clean and comfortable room as well as the style and decorations.
Tranquil stay
Great place to stay. A bit of a walk from Shunjuku station but worth the walk. Tranquil well appointed motel. Has sento/baths, laundry facilities & comfortable (but small, in our case) rooms. Would stay here again. Try the Japanese breakfast, it was delicious.
It was a marvellous property with very good value and lovely hosts The house is very well kept and very clean with delightful artwork and decor suited to the era of the house Just after I booked the room I received a personal text welcoming us and providing parking info and inviting us to their restaurant for dinner Would definitely stay again
Restaurant was very good, Gluten Free friendly.
Lovely family room. Amazing collection of clay cups and paintings.
Fabulous art, welcoming hosts, lovely guesthouse, thank you
A hidden treasure
We loved the ambience and charm of the place and our host was extremely helpful
Breakfast just too normal
Breakfast was ok - bread, jams, yoghurt, fruits, tea and coffee. Would be better if eggs or a wider selection can be offered. Other aspects of stay was ok.
We had a wonderful stay at The Chalet. We felt extremely welcome, very comfortable and everything we needed was catered for with such warmth and ease.
Food was excellent service was great room was warm
Very quiet allowed for our first sleep-in in months! Unobtrusive staff were helpful, courteous they when needed.
As soon as you walked through the door you felt like you had come home and were part of the family! Lovely decor, could live there!
Beautiful old mountain house with great service and ambience
Characterful and clean
Fantastic service and spectacularly clean and comfortable. Highly recommended for something quiet and special.
Enjoyed excellent hospitality by the two Davids. A quaint b and b, with a very artistic twist.
Friendly Staff. Quite location between Katoomba and Blackheath.
We had a lovely time at The Chalet - the beautiful Blue Mountains Guest House filled with eclectic collections, art work, furniture and communal areas -inside and outside. Host was very accommodating, discrete and 'there' when you wanted something.....almost felt like we had a professional Butler attending us. Stunning old worldly established gardens, so prevalent to the area. Very comfortable room with a little sitting nook and a well appointed bathroom....but no TV in the room....which kind of lent to the feeling of staying in a grand old homestead back in time. And what a most pleasant surprise to us - The Chalet's Restaurant! Another amazing ingredient to staying in The Chalet is the wafting of seriously good (smelling) food cooking on Friday and Saturday afternoons/evenings.........Yum Yum Yum..... Reasonably priced and scrumptious ...even the drinks were reasonably priced... or even better, you can BYO - NICE!! Had a lovely relaxing time. THANK Y:)U!!
Fantastic place - David & David are amazing hosts, beautiful and peaceful location, lovely rooms and shared areas and highly recommend dining in the restaurant on Friday & Saturday nights, the food is excellent. This was our second time staying and would definately stay again.
beautiful, cozy and welcoming - we will definately be bavk thanks David!
What a wonderful place! We managed to have a rare dinner alone while the kids slept and the food was delicious! David was especially thoughtful with accommodating our children. Would highly recommend to anyone, especially young families.
David was a fabulous host! We are definitely coming back! Don’t miss out in their delicious dinner offered on Fri and Sat evenings!
Cosy and comfortable. Affordable, clean and quiet location. Beautiful surroundings. Great breakfast and gorgeous dining room. A lovely sitting room and cosy fireplace top it all off. Interesting art and sculptures collected over the years - all by Australian artists makes for an interesting decor. Claw bath for soaking after a long day hike.
We had a short family holiday in the blue mountains. The chalet was quiet, comfortable, with a perfect breakfast. The lounge area is stunning, and the staff very helpful and available for all our needs. The decor was charming with a historical feel. Would suit couples Highly recommended.
Staying in a slice of history
This charming old hotel was full of character and exuded peace and tranquility. The hosts went out of their way to anticipate any needs.
Nice staff and unique location! The staff were very friendly and I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
A charming establishment, beautiful room and interesting art everywhere. Fabulous dinner. David and David were perfect hosts.
A real gem
The 2 David's were excellent hosts and provided a wonderful breakfast. The room was comfortable and had all the amenities we wanted. The peaceful situation in the countryside was very relaxing.
Hotel full of character in a great location
We greatly enjoyed our stay over the Easter weekend. The family room was ideal with a separate room for children. The owner was very attentive and took care of all our needs. The building is full of character and beautiful art works, with a pleasant relaxed feel. Convenient for nearby locations such as Katoomba, but in a nice quiet area. Kids enjoyed breakfast, exploring the grounds and the nearby walking trails. We would definitely stay there again.
Old world charm.
If you are looking for a peaceful, inviting and well serviced stay-over in the upper Blue Mountains then this establishment is well worth consideration. The Friday and Saturday evening restaurant is fine dining with casual attire. The menu is changed weekly and well thought-out. The meals were deliciously prepared and nicely presented.. Any add-on items were very reasonably priced. Would definitely re-book next time we visit the area. The hosts seek to serve all customers with utmost friendliness providing local knowledge and options of activities to explore.
Wonderful stay.
We had a lovely couple of days at the Chalet. David and David are very welcoming friendly and did not hesitate to do anything to make our stay even more enjoyable. Can genuinely recommend a stay there!
Beautiful, friendly, restful
I loved staying here - David and David are magnificent, friendly hosts who make everything so easy. Thank you for treating me so well, point out beautiful sites to visit and just being the best!!

Quaint, rustic old world homely guesthouse
Very happy with cleanliness, comfort and a lovely warm atmosphere. Food in Dining room was superb.
Smashing ambient, amazing hosts.
The ambient, the hosts (David and David) have been amazing. Despite being there for just a night, we'd thoroughly enjoyed it and has been the most memoriable stay of the trip.
Old world charm
Atmospheric accomodation. Tucked away in a quite location but a short drive to Blackheath and Katoomba. Davids x 2 very friendly and helpful.
Fabulous mountain accommodation, family room was great, breakfast set us up for the day and the restaurant at night was lovely and good value for money. Will definitely stay here again.
The Chalet Guesthouse and Studio was the perfect venue for our romantic getaway. The facilities are pristine, the scenery is gorgeous, David is a great host plus it is really close to the Hydro Majestic. I couldn't recommend The Chalet enough. My partner and I both know where we are staying next time we visiting the Blue Mountains!
A relaxing break
The Chalet is a fascinating old house set in a large garden. I enjoyed browsing the diverse collection of interesting artwork. David was a wonderful host - he made us feel very welcome and the house was warm despite the cold weather. . I took three children and they all enjoyed their stay and it's close to Katoomba where the children really enjoyed Scenic World.
A beautiful place to rest and reflect
Very nice property in a quiet location. Beautiful location, very accommodating host. Wonderful art collection in every room. A great place for a couple of days R & R. Will visit again.

Loved it, already recommended to friends and colle
This was a surprise trip to the blue mountains for my partner, we visited the Jenolan caves and the three sisters etc Our accommodation was exactly what I was looking for, something within our budget that was Comfortable, Good location, Clean, Friendly. I would not advise this place if you do not have your own transport though.
We had a lovely stay at the chalet over the Easter break. The room was clean and spacious with old world charm. It had all the amenities you would need for a quaint weekend getaway. The whole place is full of interesting artwork for you to admire. Our hosts were very kind and informative. They even left a bag of Easter eggs for us which was a very nice surprise. The area is very central to all the bush walk trails, they are all just a short car ride away. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet getaway.
Charming chalet
Beautiful little place. Love the fireplace and lounge rooms. Very comfortable bed. Great that the heater was on when we arrived. Love that a thermos and mugs are in the room to use. Wish we could have stayed longer. Owners were welcoming and knowledgeable.
Very quiet and comfy!!
This is highly recommaned to stay, the place is extremely quiet. The host, David focus on detail, you will find out everything is already prepared (electric blanket, heater, tea bags even a vaccum bottle, etc,. ) and also a booklet provided in room that has everything you would like to know. I don't mind about turning on the fan while I taking shower as following some basic rules for safety concerns is right. anyway, we hope that we are able to visit this place again!!
beautiful private location
an old fashioned guest house beautifully restored and lovingly kept by art lovers. The art collection is worth a trip for its own sake. The room I stayed in was spacious and v. comfortable. Beautiful dining room with garden views. Highly recommended.
Central to all Blue Mountain activities
The Chalet was a very pleasant and comfortable experience. David was an excellent host and did everything necessary to make our stay relaxing.
Nice B and B with lovely atmosphere
We stayed 2 days at this B and B the owner was very pleasant and helpful and the facilities were good, the place had a lovely atmosphere with some wonderful art works - it was like a visit to an art gallery. Breakfast was lovely and because we had inclement weather it was lovely to just relax by the fire.
Lovely hotel, loads of character, very welcoming
We stayed at the Chalet for 2 nights, and were very happy with the choice. The place has heaps of character, nice quiet location, very comfortable and the host David was excellent and went out of his way to look after us
Feel like home
It just like visiting good friends in a house you were familiar with.
A very warm and friendly stay
Compared to the impersonal experience you usually get in an hotel, you'll love your stay here. We fully intend to return and bring our friends for a thoroughly relaxing and delightful mountains experience.
A great stay with great hosts!
We had a great weekend and our stay was comfy, relaxed and everything taken care of. We highly recommend this place for couples who want to spend a time in a nice, welcoming place. Thanks!
A wonderful surprise
Fabulous ambience and friendly owners. The dining room was fabulous.

The 2 David's have created such a beautiful and peaceful environment that we felt at home and very comfortable. From the birds on the window sill in the mornings, the light classical music in the background and the lovely conversation...it was like coming home every evening! Thank you both for such a wonderful experience!
