the price point is amazing. nice tv, cable package and WIFI the staff are wonderful. 3 stars on property condition, older building but work is clearly being done to upgrade and repair. the beds were great, had best sleep. housekeeping staff super helpful with extra towels and and showed that they cared about their work and the property, impressed by room and property cleanliness stayed in room 47
The rooms are run down and the staff wasn’t particularly friendly. Only stay here if you’re on a budget.
It was great
Semi Truck Parking available. Nice people!!
Quiet
Very convenient location. Quiet, clean beds. Its an older location but is great for a quick night.
The maid used my toilet before i checked in... the fan in the bathroom didnt work so the whole room smelled like poop. Not recommended.
Didn’t love it so didn’t stay as I felt uneasy and unsafe! Travelling by myself I didn’t have a good feeling about things. People shooting up in parking lot strong door of marijauna drifting in my room in the hour I stayed
Seems like they remodeled the place. Rooms looked fairly new. Quiet place. Bail bond place across the street along with a gas station. For the price i think it was pretty decent.
SOFA BED NEED NEW ONE
THEY NEED A NEW SOFA BED IT WAS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND SANK IN QUITE DEEP WHILE USIONG THE BED OTHERWISE WE ENJOYED IT
5 Stars
Ignore any and all bad reviews, the Bluebird motel was so clean, the bedding was clean, and the reviews complaining about noise I don’t understand as the white noise being generated by the AC was enough to be able to relax and sleep in peace. You get the bang for your buck. Check in process was great too, the woman was very kind as well. Very close to things to do in Nanaimo, great location. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.
It’s good place
Not much
Very nice
They thought there are only 2 guests and after seeing us they made arrangements Room and location is ok But service not that fine
The beds were terribly uncomfortable 😣
Absolutely clean but otherwise old and worn. For $150 I expect more.
The staff seemed very helpfully and were extremely nice and inviting. The downside to a family that is non smoking was there was constant smoke smell. Luckily our one bedroom had no smoke smell, but the kitchen/living area my kids stayed in was pretty yucky. The upkeep of the place is wonderful, just smoky
Very clean for a motel. Everything you need. Old furniture but okay for the price. Very nice staff.
Kitchenette available including stove, fridge, microwave, sink, and all utensils you would need. They dont like late check-ins. Somethings were in need of repair, like door knobs. Cheaper priced for the area.
Stayed here for one night. Clean and comfortable with good proximity to Ferry terminal.
Clean sheets and appliances, unfortunately the smell of Pine Sol in the room was toxic. I had to open the windows to get fresh air. AC in the room too loud, and temp control was broken. The motel is minutes from the ferry terminal, the only reason we chose to book a room there.
Very neat and tidy. Good location. Friendly staff and very attentive to your needs.
Easy checkin easy check out , every person is nice
Great staff..clean rooms. Good kitchen. Very comfy.
Very good
Arrived at 1:30 in the morning. Key was left for us but had to wake owner up. She was great. Clean room and large for 5 people. Would have stayed longer and would book again if I was on Vancouver Island. Close to ferry terminal.
Older hotel in an older area of Nanaimo. Fair price for summer in BC.
Older hotel but comfortable, price was fair for summer in BC.
Friendly staff, great housekeeping
Was good well maintained property The electrical issue Had excellent customer service had the room key ready an understood situation during the ferry landing on the island.
The people who works there are very nice.
Great over night stay to catch the early ferry!
It was clean and comfortable. It was a small room, but only myself and my dog. Lighting could have been better, but as it was July, I just opened the curtain.
Air conditioner was loud and it did not make cold air. The fan in the bathroom was also so loud. The kitchen was good have. If they fix the AC then it would be much higher rated. Its important to have AC when its 30 degrees outside.
Very clean, decent room for the price. Staff were helpful. Windows didn't lock and seemed to be in not so great part of town. Several homeless people around property.
Pros: very clean room, friendly staff, unbeatable price, good 2Q beds in bdrm. Cons: worst sofa-bed of my life. Literally sleeping on the floor would have been a better decision.
Good motel for price. Clean and no carpet in room which is awesome for my allergies and asthma.
Convenient and reasonably priced
Everything was good ... amazing staff
Not a bad place. A bit dated. Friendly staff.🙂
Highly recommeded!! Love the place!
good for one time passing stay
Ok to sleep a night.
Place is old with not so great amenities. Dont expect everyday room cleaning. Required some cleaning for sure.
At check in, the lady at the front desk was super nice. Room was clean. House keeping lady was very friendly and accommodating. Great atmosphere,
Clean.
close to all shops and convenience location.
very easy check-in and check-out. Clean room!!
Quiet night and spacious in the family suite. The couch needs a very thorough cleaning as it was quite dirty. The shower is very short.
Avoid this hell-hole at all cost, sleep outside!
This has got to be the worst place I've ever stayed I'm glad I came to cancel after the first day because I don't have known they require daily inspections and it imposed room service everyday so they can check on you and the condition of your room. I would have never agreed to these conditions had I been made aware of them prior to reservation. Management was rude judgmental, prejudiced negatively biased, argumentative and openly hostile towards us! When I refused to have our privacy violated they threatened to call the cops and even said that they were on their way when we were checking out. It's obvious to me this is by far the seediest motel in Nanaimo and they outright lied to me by saying every hotel or motel has the same rule yet I've never heard of it anywhere before! Unless you want the skid row experience avoid this property and you can enjoy the ignorance of how bad a motel stay really can be...
Our last night there was a screaming child running around outside our room between 1130PM and12:30 AM and than continued to run wild on the balcony on the 2nd level which went on for another half an hr. We werent sure if they were guests or not but it was a very unpleasant end to our stay. I commend the housekeeper who we believe lives there, that came out and tried to difuse the situation the best she could. Other than that everything was enjoyable. We would have liked more service with towels, we had to find them a few times to removed used ones and get new ones. We were there for 6 nights.
Absolutely loved my stay at the bluebird. I was so happy to find they supplied pots, pans, utensils, plates, etc.. I cant wait to stay there again :)
Good location, close to ferry, clean room and great service.
Staff is great I have stayed dozens of times good value
Was super happy to find a place that allowed me to pay damage deposit in cash as I don't have a credit card. Was also super flexible with extending my stay another night
Just ok
When we reached to the front office, the lady in the front had attitude and when I asked for a blanket- she was like “why”, unprofessional and need to improve customer service skills for paying customer.
Clean space, nice staff
One night so all good cuz we needed to sleep. The beds are fine, but pullout couch should be replaced
Homeless encampment across the street and around the corner. Air conditioner NOISY!
Old motel but decent place to stay
They accommodated us even if we were late for checkin due to closure of Hiway 4. We are so grateful for their service. Its an old motel that was not fully renovated but Its a decent place to stay.
Have to admit I had low expectations for this one-night, most other options were full stay. But the motel seemed recently refreshed. It is an older building so has some of the expected kinks (doors that stick, flooring that is separating from the tub etc) but the condition was pretty decent. The location was OK. Someone has put the effort in to make this a decent older motel.
Not Impressed
This hotel did not meet our expectations at all. The front desk staff were unfriendly, the front desk room smelled like smoke, the staff sat outside and smoked right by the stair entrance, the room smelled so unbearably like cleaning agent that it was hard to breath - even our food tasted like Pine-Sol after being in the fridge, the couch had stains on it, no blankets for the pull out bed were provided, the pull out bed was horrible to sleep on because the mattress was so thin, the bathroom needed significant repairs, the shower head was at chest height… I could go on. It was definitely not worth the money and we will not be going back.
terrible front desk service. people coming an going at all hours. i think a lot of drugs were being sold out of the place
Check in was good. Place was old but not in bad shape. Cloth couch and chairs were old and stained! We had a “Non smoking” room, but it was very evident that it had been smoked in and tried to cover it up with a heavy dose of deodorant spray!
A bit lower in price than other options, kitchenette, clean, clean and comfy bedding. Air conditioner works. Coffee machine works. Solid door lock. It's just not new or pretty. Minor maintenance needed such as bathroom door lock didn't catch the door jamb and shower always drips. It's smell upon entry was of harsh cleaning chemicals which was not pleasant (but i was happy it was clean!). Overall aesthetic is not beautiful or high quality. It's a motel.
This Motel is older and basic, but we found it to be very clean and the service was good. The kitchenette room that we had was very spacious.
AC window unit blew cigarette smoke into room from group of people chain smoking and talking loudly from 5-11 pm.
check in/out experience could've been improved. there was no review of amenities or wi-fi (I had to ask). we waited a while to check out as no one was at the counter. the pull out bed was surprisingly comfortable.
The room was clean, newly renovated. It was what I expected. I would stay again.
The AC didn’t work well, the TV didn’t work, the toilet flush was not well, no closet to put the stuff in.
Stuff was not friendly at all. We stayed two night, whenever I saw her she was smoking outside. Booked family room for five of us but only three pair of towels in the room. ( this happens any hotels I don’t know why) Sofa bed was terrible. I felt the metal frame over the mattress, got my back hurt. Only the location was perfect. It was located just between the ferry terminal and our destination. McDonald’s, Burger King and Starbucks meat by.
Good location, friendly staff and over-all a great place to stay! Thanks for having us!
This motel is not like it appears in the pictures. They do not clean it very well at all. We slept on top of our bed with our own blankets (which I’ve never done before). There was a Gatorade bottle under our bed that was from previous guests. There was a hair in the drawer. The outlet wasn’t covered. The curtains were barely curtains, we hung our beach towels up for shade. Every time the ac unit’s fan went on the lights would flicker. There was a stain on the side of my sons bed. The fold out couch is basically a foamy and you feel every rod in the frame. No bedding was provided for the pull out couch until we went down and asked for it. The couch looked like it was picked up from the side of the road. Just wanted to check out and leave first thing so I informed the front desk about the Gatorade bottle u dear the bed and that it was dirty. She said sorry and I left as I had kids in the car and a place to be. Contacted Expedia about the issues asking for some money back but the motel refused as they said I didn’t complain. Sorry, next time I’ll miss my appointment and upset my kids to cause a scene. I have pictures and a video to back up all my findings. I will be contacting the health and safety board as this motel cannot be up to code.
Dee and her crew are amazing, very accommodating!
Clean and comfortable
Very clean and comfortable room with a kitchen. Super friendly staff, and very helpful. Close to amenities. We will stay here again.
Clean, cheap and comfortable.
nice people
Spacious suite
Dee and Ron are great. They make every stay a pleasure experience.
Clean and friendly
It was great because we had our little dog with us and it was clean.
Toilet ran continually.
The non-smoking room that they put us in was disgusting and someone was clearly chain smoking in the room so we asked for a new one. Our original room was a one bedroom suite and they put us in a standard room so we asked for a refund for the cost difference and the front desk clerk laughed in our faces and said it’s only $20. The staff is awful, the rooms are garbage and not even basic. If your staying in Nanaimo don’t waste your money here.
Very dated. Needs lots of work. The price was good staff very friendly
Nice and Clean
Its a small motel with close proximity to the Downtown. So accessibility is really good.
The cleanliness of the facility was amazing considering the age of the place. Good place for a nights sleep but not luxury if you are looking for it.
Several long black hairs in the bathtub. Parts of the wall dilapidated, in need of repair.
fine
CONVENIENT LOCATION. PRICE OK MANY SMOKERS BELOW OUR ROOM TOO CLODE TO BUILDING
very friendly people, place is quite old.
The bed had dirt in it. Had clearly been slept in and not cleaned properly. I told the owner and she clearly didnt care. Very disgusted and dissappinted..
There was an overwhelming smell of chemicals when we arrived we aired out the room and all was fine. Expedia messed up the room type and only booked for one bed and I requested 2. The clerk was a little annoyed but found a room with 2 beds for me and all went well. A suprisingly quiet room for being on a main road. I would stay there again! Reasonably priced, as well.
Needed a quiet clean and convenient place to stay one night while travelling to our destination, family of five and wanted a room that was big enough to fit us with kitchen and this place did it, everything we needed.
It was clean enough, but lacked towels. Window lock was broken on a ground floor. Price was decent for a small suite. Beds were satisfactory.
Dogs barked at you and jump on you when you arrive. Very unkempt and short mannered front desk employee helps you check in... Bottom of the stairs three people sit and chain smoke at a table. Key card worked in the door, inside lock doesn't. Room was very clean tho, everything worked. Front desk never answers of you call. Bathroom was old, but done and presentable. Bed was comfy and given only a thin comforter. AC unit works and just a small window style shoved into a hole in the wall. Tv worked, shower head is a good one, overall okay experience. But the price dictates that
Great location easy to get to from the ferry terminal and not off the regular path so it is easy to find and head out from
Mattress no good To much make a noise and not compertable
Our room was so badly in need of repairs. The bathroom was bad, paint missing on the walls, black mold on the bathtub, rust in the medicine cabinet, grouting was black. The front door was in need of repairs and paint, the air-conditioning was off and on working with the wires showing. The lamp was broken. I have pictures if anyone needs. We would not stay there again! Please do some repairs to the rooms.
Great motel except for the lady at the reception who looks grumpy
