Taj only recently took over this property and the commitment to service and quality shows. Everything was perfect down to the smallest details. Don’t miss the free walking tour of the property and the evening dance performance!
Very elegant decor with a regal look Can use some newer electrical work / outlets to meet the newer requirements Otherwise, one of my best vacations in India
Amazing service. Wonderful views of the lake. Historical property but very well kept and updated.
Amazing place!
Warmly welcomed to this hotel inside a historic palace- museum complex . The suite we had was clean , spacious with lake views to die for! Polite Staff who looked after our every need. Mr Sandeep , manager was very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast buffet was a big spread , it also included live stations for Dosa and omelette . Dining options were limited around the property but the hotel had a Full service restaurant with decent food . Well Maintained grounds , Good ambience - with touches such as welcome drink and garland , musician in patio, evening entertainment . Boat dock is close by . Museum is a short walk away . Convenient Golf carts provided for getting around complex . Memorable stay in a lovely property steeped in history .
Service was excellent. Hotel needs a serious update in furnishings. It is not up to Taj standards.
The Taj buggy driver Shiv or Shiva has friends that he refers you to for rickshaws and they only take you to set shops where they get paid commission. It was infuriating because your shopping time is wasted. It’s a connection system. They’re all government shops that the rickshaws take you too. Not impressed with Shiva from Taj. The buggy service is inefficient as well and so you waste further time waiting at city palace for Taj to come collect you. Secondly: I found it difficult to find where the steam room was where the gym was. it would have been good for the checkin staff to show you where exactly. Overall beautiful hotel. The restaurant staff were the best.
One of the best experiences I’ve had vacationing with friends. Beautiful and convenient location, walking distance from City palace as well as market.
Being a palace converted into hotel, it has challenges.. Three main things need attention: 1) No mini bar in room. 2) Coffee and tea has not much variety in the room. 3) No Exhaust fan in the Bathroom (main issue) In my view, this property is 4 or 4.5 stars best.
It’s a beautiful hotel by the lake and inside the historical City Palace. It was amazing to have such a beautiful, tranquil place just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the city center. The decor in both the room and the property in general was really pretty and perfectly captured the nature of the city. Special dining experiences were truly unique. Service from the staff was great except for one or two instances. I would like to give a special shoutout to Himanshu at front desk who was extremely friendly and helpful with every single little thing that we needed.
The property is beautiful and regal. The rooms are spacious and beautiful decorated and furnished
Fabulous luxury and a great experience. Staying in the historic palace just adds to the ambiance. World class customer service, comfortable and clean rooms, and the views of the lake are magnificent. There is a heritage walking tour with Suresh that should not be missed. In the evening there are cultural events. If you are going to Udaipur, this is the place to stay for an incredible experience.
Beautiful lake facing property in the heart of Udaipur. Breakfast is fabulous with scenic views. For dinner you may want to plan eating elsewhere especially as there’s only one restaurant at the property.
Beautiful property, fantsastic service and very good food, loved our stay. Thumbs Up to the hotel service team.
Our stay was absolutely amazing. The property is beautiful, well maintained, overlooking the lake with breathtaking views. The staff were very helpful, attentive, polite and friendly. Parth from restaurant and Pooja at front desk were outstanding- they made our stay even more pleasurable. Room was beautiful and clean. It was very convenient to get to the city. We had couple of meals in the hotel and the food was delicious every single time. Some of the best delicacies from Rajasthan.
Staying at the Taj Fateh Prakash was a wonderful experience. We received a free upgrade to the Luxury Suite with Sitout, which had a great view of the Lake Pichola and the White Palace. The staff members were very professional and service-minded. Although the dining option was rather limited (there was only one restaurant), we enjoyed the beautiful view from the multi-cuisine “Sunset Terrace.” The breakfast buffet had plenty of options. We were also satisfied with the food, service, and ambience at dinner. Please note that if you have mobility issues, this hotel can be a bit challenging. Also, since this heritage property is part of the City Palace Complex, the security is fairly tight, which can limit your freedom of movement a bit. Overall, I would highly recommend it for lovers of heritage properties, lake views, and wonderful service. You literally get to stay in a palace, and can feel history come alive, especially with all the portraits of the Maharanas (kings) of the past. However, if you have mobility issues or place a premium on the ease of movement, you may want to think twice about this living museum.
Great experience.
The property itself is beautiful and luxurious . But the staff is what truly made our stay memorable . They were very attentive , courteous and j helpful .
Dud not like b ars on windows which blocked the pretty view of the lake. Only one resraurant and no littke shop to buy snacks or drinks.
Great and perfect stay at Taj Fateh
Amazing stay at Taj Fateh Prakash. Great staff, very accomodating for our needs - arranging trips, taking care of room needs. Everything was that "extra" effort that made our stay very pleasurable.
The location with views of the lake and the lake palaces is unbelievable. The rooms are equipped with every modern comfort and furnished in a palatial style The Sunset Terrace restaurant was a joy every evening but best of all were the friendly and super helpful staff
The lake is beautiful but after look at lake there is nothing to do. I guess it’s good for old people or newlyweds but for mist the place is boring. Only one restaurant in hotel and no stores in hotel or nearby as well. Very disappointed in Udaipur in general
History
True synonym for hospitality. The staff went above and beyond every step of the way to make suite we were taken care of.
Great location. BUT this property is DEFINITELY not a five star hotel. For the first time in my life I actually couldn’t stand staying as long as I planned. I packed my stuff and moved a cross the st at Shiv Niwas Palace which is truly 5* hotel. I just wish I stayed here my entire trip.
Amazing hotel, Taj never lets you down. The whole experience of staying in the palace was very good. Rooms can be upgraded as there are some places where probably a bit of renovation is needed.
Live like royalty while at the Taj Fateh Prakash. The rooms are stunning and the views mesmerizing. Although part of the publicly open City Palace, the hotel is housed in a separate wing and is not subject to any of the tourist hustle bustle. The staff exudes warmth and the service is impeccable.
We stayed there for 3 nights and stay was amazing - Feels like you are staying in a palace with stunning views of Lake Pichola and Lake Palace. They have a golf cart service to drop you around from where you can get public transport. Staff is really friendly, humble & welcoming and food is good too. Its a very child friendly hotel as well as they helped us with moving baby around in pram, getting bottles sterlised etc. We had a wonderful stay.
Beautiful property, great views and superb service. From the reception to the dining rooms to room service to housekeeping - such amazing service. Bhagirath ji, Mukesh, Bharat, Bhawana, Pooja - super super super service. Thank you for such an amazing holiday 🙏
Best
Wonderful service from top to bottom. Gorgeous sunsets and views, great food, worth every penny!
Beautiful place with amazing architecture
Lovely hotel.
We stayed for 4 nights. The hotel is on the lake and stunning. Warm welcome and efficient. Everything was good. Room staff were so nice and looked after us very well. Hotel lacks evening atmosphere. Sunset bar was not a bar, just the restaurant. Nowhere to sit outside for breakfast or drinks. Not allowed in the pool area. The slightly annoying thing, was that every time we went for dinner or breakfast we were pestered by the staff to leave a review. Even offering to send a link and telling us their name. This happened daily at breakfast and also the 2 nights we ate in the restaurant. So annoying. Extremely loud Wedding discos in the neighbouring hotels, till 11pm. for the 4 nights. Although this can't be helped, it spoiled our peaceful break.
Excellent stay and enjoyed it thoroughly. The staff at Sun set terrace restaurant were friendly, professional and made our stay comfortable. Food was excellent and staff went out of their way to cook great food for us
Service attention to detail still lacking. Concierge not very helpful in booking tickets or excursions. Forgot to bring requested items at breakfast or for the room. Gym had no water or towels on two occasions. Breakfast buffett was ok, never came to table to ask for tea or coffee. Great people but luxury requires attention to detail esp at those prices
Would be wonderful at half the price
The room we ultimately ended up in was very nice. But the first room we were given looked nothing like the photos: there was only one tiny window at floor level and the room was very shabby and outdated. For $550, it seemed like an outrageous bait and switch. I asked for another room (which I had never done before), and lo and behold, a great room was available. But if I hadn't asked, we would have been stuck in a claustrophobic box. Overall, the price is way too high for what it is. The service is fine but not great. Being in a historic building, there are few working plugs and the plumbing is problematic. The restaurant is only okay. The water they give you is in small plastic bottles, not filtered and sealed in reusable glass bottles like we got in nicer hotels in India. The location is wonderful, and the view (if you get one) is spectacular. If it were half the price, I wouldn't hestitate to stay there again. But given that you can get a world class room for half that price in other Indian cities, I don't see how they get away with these prices.
Beautiful setup in historic setup
What an amazing stay at the Taj Fateh Prakash! Incredible grace, beautiful property and service with a smile. Warm thanks to the entire staff for making our stay so memorable. Special thanks to Kishan-ji for the amazing effort he put into keeping our room beautiful, to Lal Singh-ji for his hospitality at the Sunset Terrace restaurant, to Bhagirath ji for his assistance with deliveries and during check-out. The attention to detail and promptness of the room service staff was another highlight. 5* !!
STAY WAS AMAZING. ITS A BEAUTIFUL PROPERTY WITH EXCELLENT LOCATION AND VIEW. WE WERE LUCKY TO GET LAKE VIEW ROOM.
Fantastic Location, Good Food, and Fabulous Service Very Nice Experience !!
The property is located quite adjacent to Pitchola lake and the entire staff are very courteous. Food is tasty.
UDAIPUR LAKE CITY
At Taj Fateh Prakash Palace we had a great time. It is so conveniently located near all the tourist spots and on the main Lake. Security is great too. All the people of Udaipur city are good in nature. Lovely food we enjoyed. It’s a must visit place ..I mean Taj Fateh Prakash Palace.
You will not be sorry staying here!
This hotel is one of the finest Taj hotels we have stayed in. The building, ground, service, and even food were all excellent. We had such a wonderful time and were sorry to have to leave and go back to the real world.
The best place to be on Lake Pichola
Excellent property facing lake Pichola. This being part of the City Palace compound adds to its charm. Excellently maintained, outstanding service and scrumptious meals added to the overall charm of the hotel. View from the room was mesmerizing. You actually get to see the sunset from the room itself. Great stay. Nothing to complain about, except for may be some complementary shuttle service for senior citizens would be good to avoid the uphill walk while coming in and out of the City Palace Complex. We were there to celebrate our 10th Anniversary and the hotel made it just perfect with lovely flower decorations(special thanks to Bhanwar for this) and complementary cake!
Great Views!
The hotel is within the palace complex, the location coudnt be better if you are staying for 2 or 3 days. We had the deluxe suite and were kindly upgraded to the next tier, The rooms are very well appointed. the resturant in the hotel could be much better for the prices being charged. Would happily stay again
All staffs ready to fulfill your wishes
The hotel is part of the City Palace compound and there cannot be a more centrally located hotel. It has spectacular views of the Lake Palace, Jag Mandir, Udaivilas and Lake Pichola. City Palace is right next door. Staff is well trained, courteous and eager to help. Food is excellent. We specially enjoyed the Indian and Italian options. Net net, great place to stay and relax.
Excellent property with mesmerising views of Lake Pichola. Very well maintained. Staff is courteous and will go the extra mile to make you feel super comfortable. Food is good but expensive and food options are limited.
The condition of the hotel is pretty good. Location is also pretty good. Only problem is food service. They took half hour to serve starters and did not have more than 3-4 veg options
beautiful experience...amazing views...unique experience of living in a palace hotel, so close to the royal familys pvt residence
great view great service great food
Great view of the lake and lake palace.
Excellent experience
It was amazing the way we were taken care of - both at accommodation and F&B. They took care of us in best possible way, cooked what we asked for and even brought out a surprise cake for the birthday celebrations. Very friendly and caring staff We left behind some garments, and they immediately contacted us and couriered them to us.
The property was beautiful and extremely well maintained.
Great location. Beautiful hotel with great views. Stayed for New Years and the party was great. Only problem we had was the internet and the cable was cut off on Dec 32st evening as the hotel management was changing to a Taj Group. This was a problem as we had an early morning flight and we were able to check in.
The stay was excellent with the staff friendly and cordial. The overall stay was amazing. Loved the room that was assigned. Would highly recommend to everyone who wish to have a wonderful few days at Udaipur.
Good place to be in
Stay was okay. Could be cleaner with better air conditioning. Enjoy the Suite.
Could be cleaner, faced cleanliness issue and Air Condition issue. Overall, a good place to be in and Suite is awesome.
Great location with lovely views. An indoor restaurant would add to the hotel as it was a bit cold on the terrace in the evening but still enjoyable.
Nothing to say
Me and my husband had a terrible experience at this property. We were on our honeymoon and it turned out to be the worst two days. On the first morning, we received an unexpected wake-up call. But what was to follow was about to make our stay much worse. The hotel was undertaking painting works right next to our room and the lead fumes filled our room all night. This was an extremely worrying safety hazard. We could not sleep all night and my husband who suffers from breathing issues had a lot of trouble. All our clothes and belongings smell of the fresh lead paint. We were never informed about the work and neither offered an alternate room. When we complained, we were told it should not have been an issue!! We have taken pictures and videos of the painting works and plan to post this experience on social media. Hopefully expedia can provide advice. Thanks Amrita
Live like a King!
It was an amazing experience staying at Fateh Prakash. The view of the Pichola lake and the Taj hotel is best in town. We had a huge balcony (shared by two other rooms) which was huge and had unbelievably views. This area is closed to public cars and everything is a golf cart away in the city palace area. You truly feel like a royalty staying here. We would love to come back!
Excellent service. Very friendly and efficient staff
Palacial splendour! And wonderful service.
Fateh Prakash Palace is a stunning historic hotel with exemplary service set in the most delightful marble interiors and decorated as though it was still part of the functioning City Palace. I enjoyed a massage at the spa and the stunning surrounds of the pool. The food in the restuarant was excellent. The only downside was some construction work ongoing above my room which meant that what would otherwise have been a near perfect relaxing day of reading was a little uncomfortable on the ears. However I won't let that stop me.going back! The attention to detail was a real eyeopener compared to some similarly priced hotels I've stayed in before!
Udaipur stay with Royal Character
The hotel has character, as one is staying in a palace, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The location is fantastic, with additional night time access to the palace courtyard, as an added advantage. However, the rooms are tired, the sound travels accross the marble corridors and the next rooms are not sound proof either, so one cannot have a completely peaceful stay. Overall, it was a good stay at this property and will be fine to recommend to otehrs.
Great location and matching view.
Great location.. Friendly staff..
Nice hotel in city palace complex
Had a good stay in this hotel. Loved its location in the city palace complex and it felt special to go around the city complex in the golf cart provided by the hotel for its guests. Should have more flexibility on late check out. I only asked for slightly late check out at 12.45pm (normal check out 12pm), and the hotel said it is not possible as they have guest coming in. I would understand if I asked for really late check out for eg until 2pm, but it was only 45 minutes late and they can always clean the room before hand.
A Palace On A Very Clean & Beautiful Lake
Beautiful facility with excellent location. Great greeting, check-in, and staff. Amazing rooftop dining terrace. Would highly recommend to anyone planning a trip here.
Initial setback but Alls Well that Ends Well
It is pertinent to mention that the booking was confirmed by Expedia for Lake View Room. The Hotel however, offered a room without any view for the first night. Not only the room was without the promised lake view but also was small and dinghy . At least size wise it should have been commensurate to the promised room with or without the lake view. Such experiences become a dampner and are a deterrent for future bookings as well as recommendations. Overall stay was comfortable particularly because we decided not to let our spirits be dampened by the Hotel fiasco.
Quite Expensive Hotel In Urgent Need Update
As so highly rated by previous guests, a heritage hotel and part of palace complex, we were really looking forward to our three night stay. Given two rooms on second floor. The rooms and bathrooms were in terrible state with ghastly stains on all the chairs and the mattresses to recline on in dovecote windows. The rooms were in bad need of paint. The bathrooms were ghastly and in desperate need of an update. We asked management if we could change to better rooms. They showed us two other rooms on second floor and they were just as bad. They did offer a Suite provided we were willing to pay an extra 20,000 rupees each per night. At that price was not an option so we stayed three nights in original rooms. If we had not fully paid rooms some weeks before our arrival we would have walked out there and then. It really seemed to us the management could not care less as they made no apology or offer viable alternative. Some junior Staff more helpful and one young male employee in particular very kind to take us on walk through palace precinct to show us the building where pool and restaurant for breakfast located. Pool although in palace precinct was few buildings away from Hotel. We asked Hotel to organise driver and car to take us to Airport on day of departure. A hotel of this standard usually provides decent hotel vehicle but this was basic taxi with no seat belts for passengers. Most expensive hotel we stayed in, in India, with the worse rooms.
Best location
The hotel staff was tentative, the view of the lake awesome, but the hotel is very run down. You will read this over and over in reviews on TripAdvisor. The room had a smell but we dealt with it. Searching for switches to turn the lights on or off was a challenge, some were located 1 foot off the floor and others were in locations that you would never expect. The rooms were poorly lit. There are only two better hotels in the area, but this one has the best view and is closest to the sights. We knew going in that this would be a low budget hotel with a high price, we stayed for the view.
Maharaja's stay
Me and my husband had a great stay Fateh Prakash Palace. Despite we getting sick, probably a combination of a sunstroke and spicy food together. The staff was very friendly and the massage we had in the spa (at the hotel close to the museum) was fantastic! The food and the breakfast at the terrace restaurant were very good!
Excellent location, friendly staff.
Enjoyed our stay here. The staff was very friendly and the location is superb. Overall everything was perfect except the room was a bit dated - for example - the window wood trim was rotting, the electrical outlets were loose, etc.
Terrible ecperience
dirty room, uncomfortable facilities, terrible hotel staff

We will definitely be coming back to the Taj Fateh! The lake tour was incredible with a truly educated guide, the restaurant was incredible at every meal (waitstaff could not have been nicer), and the room was truly opulent with incredibly thoughtful cleaning staff. Truly a place not only worth the money but priceless in the amenities and kindness of its workers. We had an incredible trip and are now truly Taj loyalists! Pawan in the dining room was also incredibly helpful in directing us to a wonderful tailor at Shyam Arts in the palace walls.
