enjoyed our stay
We went during the Tweed Stampede, everyone was so helpful and so organized. It was one of the best experiences! Thank you to all the great staff and owners .
Beautiful place to stay
This place is lovely! Only thing I would add is a soap dish in the shower so we don’t have to bend down to the floor when switching from shampoo to soap. Also, staff should not enter the room in the morning before check-out time, can we say “awkward”?
This property needs some TLC. However, it sits on a beautiful lake. Seems it might be for partiers and not for someone looking to relax. Rooms are dated, bathroom needs updated. Pets are welcomed. Checkin was simple and friendly.
Stay was okay but hotel is LOUD. My room was adjacent to the restaurant. Perhaps the door to the halkway could remain closed? I tried to but kept being propped open. Restauraht staff were running outside my door shouting and laughing. College dorm?
This is my second trip to Stoco Lake Lodge. The best draw is the quiet of the Tweed area. But undoubtedly the staff and services contribute to that too. Everyone is friendly. Be advised that if you’re arriving late, you should call ahead to let them know so someone can let you into your room if you’re arriving mid week as we did. I forgot that and lucked out that there was still someone at the front desk at 6:30 pm on Tuesday night. The restaurant is still great. The duck wings are a local favourite. I loved the caramel apple cheesecake and my son devoured the brownie for dessert. We had massages on our last night and the massage therapist we saw was just fabulous. The only negative I’d note is that we stayed in the Deluxe Queen room and the building has shifted so the bathroom door doesn’t like to be entirely open or entirely closed. A little bit of sanding should fix that. We’ll be back regardless.
Nice stay but check the tired bathroom out first.
Beautiful site. Room was very nice but the bathroom VERY tired. Door would not shut, no water first evening, no hot water next morning, when all that was fixed waste release on the sink fell apart..looked under the sink and it was a botched job with tape and metal strips!!!!!!not happy at all. Staff difficult to find but were all exellent and sympathetic...I blame the chief not the indians on this stay..bathroom my only complaint...oh could do with some sort of coffee/tea making facility in the room.
Too noisy!
Property is great with the perfect location. However NO soundproofing at all. At 3am, bunch people had a loud conversation outside. It sounded like they were inside the room. At 5am, somebody started playing loud music in another room. No sleep at all!
I was surprised that the tent kept me warm and cozy without any heating. Amazing experience though bathroom is in the lodge building few meters away.
noisy. poor service
Not much communication when we arrived about what is available, etc. More signage in the trailer regarding lights, awning, etc would be helpful. Screens were missing in the door so trailer was full of fly's. Awning was ripped. Toilet would run if you didnt turn it on and off.
Close to a beautiful nature beach :)
No hot water. Spider web in room full with mosquito
There are a few things that we liked about this place. Beautiful beach, free kayaks, great outdoor space for kids to play, walkout to outside directly from the room, friendly staff. However, the accommodation was so bad that it felt like living in an illegal basement (we stayed in a two-queen room). The room was dark with only one working light (nothing else worked), very loud a/c plus as a bonus there was another even louder one right on top of our door. The only window was in a really bad shape, and I noticed that in some other rooms, windows were boarded up. The door had a cheap vinyl window covering that would not fully close. All these made sleeping in the room very difficult. The place needs a major upgrade. Otherwise, with nearly $130 per night, this place is absolutely not worth it.
Nice location in Tweed. Some expectations not met. We arrived during the listed check-in times but had to call someone to check us in. They told us they were attempting to rest. I was then told there was a balance of $83xx. Had to show them my receipt on my phone. I inquired about their restaurant but it was no longer taking orders. Two things that were wrong on the property's Expedia listing: It says the property has FREE firewood under "outdoor areas". Not true. You can purchase the wood from some boys on-site. We wanted to support them but they didn't have any firewood left. No fire for us. While booking and on my official itinerary, it says: "Included amenities: Food/Beverage Credit". We inquired but it wasn't included. Our room was on ground level. Comfy bed. One huge issue was the intensity of the sound from the room upstairs. Nobody was partying, it was just people walking/marching around! All night and morning. That sound was amplified by the high plaster ceilings. We were convinced there was a stampede happening and recorded it. A small piece of the ceiling fell on me while I was sitting in bed. Was very concerned more ceiling would fall on us throughout the night. There is a door in the room that led to another room, apparently, because a man walked in from that door. Thankfully he didn't stay because we weren't too thrilled. Bring your own food, firewood, hard hat, earplugs, receipts, doorstoppers, and blankets ....and you'll do alright in their room!

Glamping weekend
Spent the long weekend in one of their glamping tents. The front of the tent faced the lake which would have been great if the property cleaned out the front of the lake of the weeds and lily pads. Was missing a chair at the front, all the other tents had two and we only had one at our tent. Check in was okay, the property operators were good. Had to pay for firewood and ice, would have expected it to be free. No hot water in the main building shower, which was a bit sketchy for me, shared communal shower so brought my husband to watch that no one came in. And although the port-o-potty was close to the tent you couldn’t get close to it because of the smell. Would just have people go to the main building. Not too many activities on site. Likely won’t book again.
